In an email dated January 27, 2011, Joe McGinniss, author of The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin, says that Random House lawyers have told him he has provided nothing more than “tawdry gossip” to substantiate “any of the salacious stories about the Palin family.”
He adds that “No one has ever provided factual evidence” (original emphasis) of the following accusations:
a) Todd had sex with a hooker, or with anyone else outside his marriage.
b) Sarah had an affair with Brad Hanson, or anyone else.
c) Track was a druggie who enlisted in the army to avoid a jail term. Or that he vandalized Wasilla school buses.
d) Willow was involved in the vandalism of the empty house in Meadow Lakes. Or that Sarah rushed back from Hawaii to put the lid on that.
e) Trig is not Sarah’s natural born child.
f) Bristol was promiscuous as a high schooler and drank and used drugs, or became pregnant again after Tripp’s birth.
Yet almost all of these accusations appear in McGinniss’s book, without any substantial proof beyond gossip, and without any apparent new information to address the lack of “factual evidence” in January 2011.
Furthermore, McGinniss continues to promote his claims, as he did yesterday in his remarks about Trig Palin in an appearance on The View to promote his book:
Below, I present each of these accusations in turn, and how McGinniss used most of them in The Rogue, even though he admitted in his email that he could not prove them:
a) Todd had sex with a hooker, or with anyone else outside his marriage.
McGinniss dropped the “hooker” accusation–probably because he was afraid, as his email suggests, that the sole source “may be mentally unstable” and that even the National Enquirer appeared to be ready “to back off this story.”
Yet McGinniss did publish allegations in The Rogue that Todd flirted with other women (p. 115) and had sex outside his marriage (p. 169), based solely on sources identified as “an attractive white woman” and “a friend of his,” respectively. Both sources are identified in the book as having spoken to McGinniss in 2010–before the January 2011 email in which he admitted he had no factual evidence beyond “tawdry gossip.”
b) Sarah had an affair with Brad Hanson, or anyone else.
McGinniss presents no named source for this accusation in The Rogue other than an article in the National Enquirer in October 2008. He refers to “a friend of Todd’s,” who tells McGinniss in 2010 that the affair–which both Palin and Hanson deny–was “known” (p. 64). He also cites third-party rumors, cited in turn (apparently in 2010) by former Wasilla mayor John Stein, who states that “we were hearing” about an affair during the mayoral campaign in which he was ousted by Sarah Palin (p. 64). Similarly, he cites third-party rumors from a woman named Colleen Cottle, whom he speaks to upon arriving in Wasilla in 2010. McGinniss does not quote Cottle directly, but says that she fills him in on local gossip, and attributes a remark about the affair to her (p. 6). All of these flimsy sources pre-date McGinniss’s email in January 2011 in which he admits that: “[N]o one has ever provided factual evidence” for the claims he lists.
c) Track was a druggie who enlisted in the army to avoid a jail term. Or that he vandalized Wasilla school buses.
McGinniss’s basis for accusations of drug use by Track Palin is the National Enquirer, which in turn had quoted an unnamed “source” in 2008. He adds that “reports of Track’s drug use persisted even into the summer of 2010” but does not specify what those reports are, or from whom (p. 114). His primary source for the accusation of vandalism in 2005 is local gossip: “word spread immediately in Wasilla,” McGinniss says, though he also claims that an unnamed radio station and an unnamed television station in Anchorage reported the accusation (p. 113). In the end, McGinniss hedges his bets: “Whether or not Track was involved in the school bus vandalism…” (p. 113).
McGinniss does not include the accusation that Track “enlisted in the army to avoid a jail term” in The Rogue. However, he does quote an unnamed “friend” of Track’s who said that Track enlisted to avoid getting into “trouble” such as “[t]he school bus thing, theft issues, multiple stuff” (p. 113). McGinniss does not clarify whether the “friend” is speaking from personal knowledge, or merely repeating third-hand rumors, perhaps provided by McGinniss himself as a prompt. For good measure, McGinniss claims–again, without any evidence–that Sarah Palin engineered Track’s enlistment and his deployment to Iraq for political gain, and quotes an unnamed state trooper who claims Track showed no signs of patriotism on the way to the enlistment office (p. 114).
All of the “evidence” cited by McGinniss to substantiate his claims about Track Palin appears to pre-date his January 2011 email in which he states that Random House lawyers have told him that he has no evidence, and that “nobody” has provided proof.
d) Willow was involved in the vandalism of the empty house in Meadow Lakes. Or that Sarah rushed back from Hawaii to put the lid on that.
McGinniss’s only source is the National Enquirer, which made these claims in 2010. He also claims “[m]any in Wasilla” believe the story (p. 111). He also cites gossip related by Colleen Cottle in 2010–again, without quoting her directly (p. 6). None of this “evidence” was obtained after McGinniss admitted, in his email, that he could not prove the claim.
e) Trig is not Sarah’s natural born child.
McGinniss provides no new evidence for this debunked claim, quoting “questions” being asked on “blogs” and the like (p. 316). McGinniss also cites “many Wasillans” who allegedly say that “even if she had not faked the entire story of her pregnancy and Trig’s birth, it was something she was eminently capable of doing” (p. 285). In other words, he supports a lie, which he tacitly admits he cannot prove, by attacking Palin’s character.
f) Bristol was promiscuous as a high schooler and drank and used drugs, or became pregnant again after Tripp’s birth.
McGinniss’s source is again local gossip in the summer of 2010: “Rumors immediately run rampant,” he says (p. 204). Once again, he also cites gossip allegedly related by (but not directly quoted from) Colleen Cottle in 2010. He mentions a July 2010 interview in The Daily Beast with Bristol’s alleged new boyfriend at the time, Ben Barber, which does not discuss promiscuity or drugs, and actually contradicts the claim that Bristol became pregnant again. None of these “tawdry” rumors, which McGinniss admits in his January 2011 email have no factual basis, is supported by subsequent evidence.

Excellent journalism Andrew …. as usual !
Paging the MSM ….
hello ….
hello……..
Hello ……….
HELLO ………
Keeping in the current light.
I understand the MSM is the most responsible, impartial group of people in the world.
Whoops…..No evidence to support that, either.
Sue, Baby, SUE.
I hope Palin takes them all down. Very well done, Andrew …as usual.
Wire Paladin, San Francisco
This should be criminal the way this is an intentional effort to completely defame someone and their family. There is no lawsuit big enough for this prick.
My thoughts exactly
Nice work Andrew! Once again doing the work the Dead Media refuses to do.
Meanwhile, Arec Bardwin is murdering his embryonic New York mayoral bid via Twitter, maniacally blaming Cheney, Malkin and Palin for Troy Davis' execution.
I think it's time to lean on priceline or Hotels.com or whoever he's shilling for and get him fired. Frothing insaniacs shouldn't sell product.
FACTS are a stubborn reality.
Truth in reporting…. it's expected, unfortunately not practiced today in the mainstream media. So, I wonder how long before the retractions begin along with the long awaited apologies?
Andrew, I am getting seriously excoriated over this issue, please scan the actual email or show us some credible document. For the hotheads out there, just remember, this IS what the MSM will do with it. That I am not doubting the substance of the wording is not enough to sustain the veracity that the email actually came from McGinnis and not from some loon on MSNBC trying to make Breitbart look as a fool.
Sounds like She can prove "Malice" You know what that means? SP is going to own this Douche Bag in court when she sues his ass for Libel.
I love it!!
I think it is vital to at once expose such shameful, dishonest, and bias reporting be it publishing or news gathering, as well as fostering a more intellectual and non-divisive discourse about our candidates.
The right is demanding their pound of flesh, understandably, after the scorched earth media policy against president Bush, and the blind eye coddling of president Obama. However, I personally favor this measured and respectable tone taken with Obama by the 4th Estate, I just wish it was universally applied regardless of party.
Shining a klieg light on the shamefully tawdry and dishonest smear campaign against Gov. Palin is important, but attaching that to any sense that she would make a good president or that she should be a mouthpiece of the republican party is, and has proved to be, a very very bad idea.
You bring up what I had wondered about when this story was first posted. A scan of the original e-mail is needed…………unless Andrew is baiting them. You know, let the MSM scream and holler fraud……..and then he produces the e-mail. He's used this tactic before, Very successfully.
"….any sense that she would make a good president or that she should be a mouthpiece of the republican party is, and has proved to be, a very very bad idea."
Proved how?
Sorry, the MSM is notorious for turning a deaf ear to We The People. It interferes with their fantasy world.
There are people (tabloids) that are believing everything in it. I know my liberal friends are.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2040110/T...
McGinniss fits right in with the journOlist crowd – they'll probably honor him at some celebratory dinner soon.
I guess I have to add Random House to my list of progressive things and people to avoid.
But she WOULD make an excellent President. She has all the qualifications necessary: vision, leadership, ability, integrity, self-responsibility, character and love of country and countrymen.
this sounds like he should have never made the trip to alaska, and just made this stuff up. i mean since he basically did make this stuff up, he wouldn't have had to move next to the palins, and endure that wonderful country, to smear sarah. didn't jason blair just make stuff up? i also feel sorry, he never interviewed me for this book. i have a story how space aliens paid for the palin house. i also have no proof, but he could have included my story too.
the obsession with Palin, Chapter XX…
The left, knowing full well that attractive, healthy and hard working outdoorsy types like the Palin family are an impossible combination for a bunch of citified wussbags to compete with. Add deeply felt spiritual convictions, and the ULTIMATE fact that this 40-something hardbody brought a Down syndrome baby to term for her FIFTH child is just too much for them to bear.
They are obsessed with looks, youth, sex. It is- to them- their SOLE province. Now throw conservative, 'we don't care what you think' politics into the mix and you have a liberal bear trap. Baited with the Palins, they can't help but stick their foot- or necks- into this trap. As did McGinniss and Random House. They are both worse for the wear because of it, too…
Sadly, this dumb POS McGinniss will make money off of this book. All he did was put to paper the same old lie, innuendos, false-hoods and rumors that have been going around about the Palins for years. I'm guessing that whole "move in next door to the Palins" was just a stunt to both marginally legitimize his book (at least in his eyes) and to create publicity for the books release.
As for the sources stated as "a friend", I highly doubt they exist and if these people did they certainly are no friends of the Palins. What "friend" would just come out and say "did you know Todd visited a hooker, sorry gotta go I'm heading over to the Palins for dinner"
In some small way we should praise McGinniss, for he is embracing capitalism: create a dumb product and dumb people will consume it.
Gotta go now, I'm writing a book about Obama, an old buddy of his told me Barrack used Thailand often in his younger years…
It will be entertaining to see McGinnis receive the full strength of his well deserved rebuke. And I'm guessing that such rebuke will be just the thing to put Sarah over and on top of the MSM, permanently. You're probably on track, that Andrew will play with them first, get 'em all worked up and then lower the boom.Otherwise, if they had the information you and I are questioning they would already be working on a concerted conspiracy to disprove the actual document. They did their best for Weiner! They'll worse in support of a true degenerate like McGinnis!Sent from my iPhone
e) Trig is not Sarah’s natural born child.
PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE SARAH IS NOT TRIG'S MOM ARE THE ORIGINAL "BIRTHERS".
News Flash: McGinniss is a liar.
No, No, Say it ain't So! I can't believe it!
one man's "measured and respectable tone taken with Obama by the 4th Estate" is another's sycophantic @$$-kissing contest.
("respectable"? wtf?)
Maybe the one who needs to be investigated is McGuiness. He seems to be a rather mentally challenged and unstable loser.
He is envious of the children. He wants to destroy the mother/protector that he never had (and probably believes he deserved more). He hates those kids. Hates them with a passion that only a man with severe mother "issues" can feel.
I do have to disagree about McGuiness "embracing" capitalism. Hes more like George the Sore A$$, GAMING the system . True capitalism creates economic prosperity. McGuiness series of lies does none of that.
"He adds that “reports of Track’s drug use persisted even into the summer of 2010"…
Reports also "persist" the President Zero is a marxist who was not born in the USA. Proof positive!!!
Andrew…. you are brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. You get it. This has to be one of the best things you have done.
Again, brilliant and sure glad to have you on our side.
Laughing all the way through the story. Go Andrew!
Sarah Palin is the MOST FEARED conservative out there as far as the left is concerned.
JUST LOOK at how much the LIBRATARDS are going out of there way to trash her.
IF she was NOT a THREAT would They be saying anything?
They KNOW Sarah Palin IS electable,…
AND IF she runs against barry in 2012,…
She WILL CRUSH him with indisputable numbers.
Rush is RIGHT about the establishment Republicans ALSO FEARING SARAH
All the "serious" (sarc) pundits feel this way too. WHY else would they go OUT of their way to trash her.
THEY ARE TERRIFIED OF SARAH.
They are all peeing in their pants at the thought of her running.
Remember,.. the MORE they say how easy she will be to beat or how stupid she is etc,..
one word.
TERRIFIED.
No answer to my question?
That's ok, everyone knows the answer anyway. It hasn't been proven on any level, you're just pushing the narrative. Much like when Bill "I make douchebags look like good people" Maher says Palin is stupid and his only proof is "I don't have to prove anything, it just is".
Keep saying it and it becomes the truth, right?
Not gonna work anymore, you lose….
McGinniss is the poster boy for Ideologue Journalism. People who are so indoctrinated with a single ideology that they cannot see past this programming to obtain even a hint of objectivty. They KNOW Palin is a rotten and dangerous person. They were shocked that the famous e-mails from her governorship revealed nothing.
McGinnis, acting on his own without a network's or newspaper's legal department, went too far. And got caught. So now the cockroaches try to scurry from the light he's shone on them by writing and voicing scathing criticisms of McGinniss and his book. This will not work. Particularly now that so many people are so unhappy with the performance of the president the liberal media sold to independent voters with their unadultrated adulation of him, and demonization of Palin.
I used the word unadulterated in honor of the libel of Todd Palin. And although I don't condone adultery and wouldn't and didn't do it, if Todd had done it, what the hell does that have to do with Palin's character or fitness for governing?
you got to google the interview yesterday with Mushmouth Bashir MSNBC "the last word" stand-in for the proclaimed socialist Larry O'Donnell. He brags about Sam Tannenbaum hailing his book.
Tannebaum wrote a book right after Obama was elected called "The death of conservatism" He sold about 2000 books I really think it is time for the Palin's to file defamation against this gossip worm. He also did an interview with "Thrill up my leg"Matthews.
Notice how they are going after Suskind a favorite of the left that wrote TWO,2,TWICE about Bush these people are scrambling like cockaroaches QUICK turn on the LIGHTS,
@Nuts –
Was that a reference to the old baseball scandal? Say it ain't so, Joe? That's funny!
I also know for a unfact the Palin's are desendants of the grizzley bear . Whoops! I hope I wasn't being racist
Probably got the email from jesse griffin (gryphen-immoral minority) for cheap $$) who was boasting he contributed a lot of information to mcginniss along with his friends shannyn moore and jeanne devon (1/3 of group of Bailey's book). Apparently none got ANY compensation for their rumors. mcginniss apparently was told by his publisher to open a blog for the book promotion and apparently the publishers weren't expecting big ROI for his book since he (mcg) stated in his blog the publishers could not justify, cost wise, for travel and other expenses for book signings. That alone should speak volumes. Sounds like the entire book was gossip, heresay, 2nd, 3rd and 4th hand info. Articles have already stated mcg in his book about teddy (the swimmer) kennedy had some manufactured or fantisized in his own mine quotes of the swimmer.
Keep up the good work Andrew Breitbart!
Great work Andrew, stick it to the press.
Libel: Written communication which is malicious, false, and defamatory.
Remedy: civil and/or criminal penalties to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism.
Also: public disclosure of private facts, which arises where one person reveals information that is not of public concern, and the release of which would offend a reasonable person. Unlike with libel, truth is not a defense for invasion of privacy.
JACKPOT! CHA-CHING!
Wow, I would really hate to be Random House or Joe McGinniss, right about now!
Oh my God! Like factual innacuracies ever stopped BB or any one of his backbench bloggers from writing a story. Right wing hypocricy is boundless.
Now that they Jumped The Shark on Palin what is she waiting for?
On one hand we demand that the Palin's – all of them – prove they brush their teeth 3 times a day and on the other hand we politely ask the "frontrunners" and incumbents to please use clean needles if it isn't too much trouble.
WE ARE PHUCKED. Good night America.
This "View" clip made me ill.
I'd love to see Sarah win the Presidency with some Random House/lefty stash.
Sorry, but the days when "measured and respectable tones" in the style of William F Buckley could accomplish anything in American politics… never really existed. American politics has always been rough-and-tumble and that is even more true in recent decades as the Left has used Alinksy tactics to turn politics into a lethal blood-sport. You need to wake up to that.
Except there aren't any BB "factual inaccuracies," troll, no matter how hard you try to pretend there are.
You're deluded. Palin is almost completely irrelevant and wouldnt have a snowballs chance in hell of winning a national election. The numbers prove this time and time again.
Yeah, I know that whole Shirely Sherrod story was the gold standard for honest journalism. Stop deluding yourself.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
She's not electable. She won't be President. We are not the least bit terrified.
Keep believing your own lies. I mean, someone has to, right?
Or how about the recent "Mike Tyson wants to rape Sarah Palin story? Besides it being ful of racist cliches going back to the civil war era when whites seized up upon the fears of other whites by claiming all black males wanted to rape their women, it wasnt even remotely true.
I have it on very good authority, from a close personal friend of Joe McGinniss, who prefers to remain anonymous, that he pleasures himself while looking at nude pictures of Shailey Tripp [shudder!] Apparently McGinnes was a frequent customer during his stay in Alaska. Information, documentation, and sources coming soon. Proof is just around the corner, so help me. I think I'll start a Blog [sarc].
I don't think Ms. Palin is stupid, but let's not pretend like she's some kind of genius. She hasn't really done anything to distinguish herself intellectually.
She has a huge negative rating with Independents, and her unfair media attacks aside she personally proved to be a weak candidate for VP by being unable to deftly deflect a liberal media's questioning. So she was sandbagged, and more accomplished candidate would have handled it without coming off as moronic. Fairly or not she has done irreparable harm to her reputation and in effect the GOP because she is completely unelectable but garners the headlines which are mostly negative. Look when you lose Barbara Bush you've lost mainline republicans and independents.
I think quitting the governorship and being unable to manage her horrifically negative press proves she is not a good leader or political thought-leader.
You're darned right! She should even sue the national media for allowing him to spout this nonsense on their stations. It's time we hit the MSM where it hurts and call out their sponsors for continuing to support them. It works for Democrats.
Bennett Cerf (liberal founder of Random House) would spin in his grave.
I guess I don't understand why any of you really care about this issue. As a liberal I couldn't care less what's in his book. I don't intend to buy it, and, from what I've heard, it's trash. No one I know is buying it or reading it, so why do you care?
Is it because it feeds into your victim mentality whereby everyone is against you and you're the poor oppressed minority and the only bastion of truth on this planet…?
Let's just go with that.
I don't feel any of the things you've attributed to liberals. Not one.
Your "theories" are so easy to shoot down…
Proof? No. Just garbage thinking.
Actually it was the gold standard. You never read the original article so you don't know this, but everything was on the up-and-up and completely true. Not one lie, not one prevarication.
You can look up the article yourself right now and see. And if you refuse to do that you are being willfully ignorant. If do watch it and you continue to say there was deceit in AB's Shirley Sherrod story you are an out-and-out liar.
Read it. I challenge you. If you find something you believe is a lie then come back and tell us.
That never kept anyone out of the White House apparently….
Because if he gets away with it he'll do it again. You don't care this time because it's Palin and Democrats are vapid and shallow and can't see the bigger picture. He gets away with it and maybe next time he'll do it to someone you like.
LAWSUIT!
"She has a huge negative rating with Independents . . . "
Do keep up:
http://michellemalkin.com/2011/09/20/poll-palin/
In polls Palin is now trailing Obama by only 5 points. Her biggest gain? Independents.
You are away that any presidential candidate would have trouble deflecting media questioning like what Palin had to handle. If Obama was in the same situation, he would have cracked and he would have put himself in a far worse situation than what Palin would have been in. As Obama can not handle that kind of pressure and why the media has been softballing with him.
As far an unelectable, I find that funny as anyone in the running is electable. Afterall, Obama came from no where as a complete unknown and won. Mind you, since he was unknown at that time, no one question his electability. So, even if someone is unelectable, they can still be elected.
The same could be said for the president and about everyone around him.
For a huge laugh, check out the glowing reviews on Amazon. All his toadies are hard at work. One even gave it 5 stars and in the FIRST sentence says he hasn't read it (not sure that one is still there b/c he was getting slammed even by the lefties for not reading it).
"….more accomplished candidate would have handled it without coming off as moronic"
I'm not saying she was properly prepared to take on the onslaught of liberal media hacks, but the only people calling her "moronic" are those that have bought into the narrative.
"she has done irreparable harm to her reputation"
Says who? Liberals that hate her regardless? This is what I'm talking about, you're pushing a narrative that isn't viable.
"She has a huge negative rating with Independents"
Link please.
"unable to manage her horrifically negative press"
Again, you're pushing a false narrative. The MSM hates her, liberals hate her. She gets negative press from these outlets. They are setting the narrative. As for managing it, how do you explain idiots in the Philadelphia press getting into car accidents and getting traffic tickets chasing her bus all over the city? She doesn't have to say a word and the MSM slobbers all over themselves.
Same standards as the NYT, Washington Post and many others in the MSM. Quotes from "anonymous" sources and "higher ups" in the administration, etc. Have you ever read the postings of the NPR Ombudsman? Spreading malicious rumors is the liberal trademark. No surprise here.
You don't find being the editor of the Harvard Law Review an impressive achievement?
You can make a case he's not a great President, but you can't argue he doesn't have intellectual pedigree.
What polls? Prove your claim that Palin is trailing Obama by only 5 points.
And don't just show me one bad poll. Show me an aggregate number that proves your claim
You cannot. Do keep up.
Todd and Sarah – please sue these idiots!
McGiniss is a creepy old peeper who deserves some very public humiliation.
Who's the winner? Jeffrey MacDonald – who all of a sudden has gained some credibility through Joe's shame.
No, you weren't being racist. Just stupid.
The only thing he left out was the report about Elvis abducting Sarah in a UFO and implanting a mind control device.
Does his book include ads for sea-monkies and X-ray glasses?
Instead of making up your own narrative (your assertion that the article claims "Mike Tyson wants to rape Sarah Palin,") why don't you do something halfway credible, like actually go back to the article and refute it piece by piece.
Find your "racist cliches," and then find something that wasn't "remotely true."
We'll wait here, assh**e.
I could have guessed you were going to end your oh so reasonable statement with an intended insult. Who do you think you're fooling? Next time just get straight to the point, after all its the reason you're here.
It's not the book itself… it's the process by which it a.) came to be, and b.) is now coming unraveled. If McGinniss were an unknown author, and had just made up crap, it might be a different story. But he's made a name for himself (The Selling of The President — even though he made up numerous conversations therein). This book was highly publicized, and although panned, was heavily promoted by the MSM.
So now, when the wheels come off because of Joe's sleazy and dishonest reportage, and his slimy tactics, you think it's not worth reporting on. Even by a site called "Big Journalism." So if the political tables were turned here, how do you think "Special Ed" Schultz or Chris Matthews or the Puffington Host or Daily Kos might react, hmmm?
You are being disingenuous. And that's the kindest way I can put it.
your preening, weenie icon speaks leagues about you.
And these 'theories' are facts, and certainly the likes of you will not be able to 'shoot down'. Not that you have ever 'shot' anything in your life, other than your mouth off.
The obsession with the Palins, particularly Sarah- are rooted in the infantalism of undeveloped sexuality. That's how you have occurences like Larry King and his guests fantasizing about seeing her in porn films and the like.
Feminist dinosaur Germaine Greer called her 'an existential threat to feminism' 48 hours after McCain picked her for the VP slot. So just because you- either disingenuously, or really- don't 'get it', it's because of a willing discard of facts.
Hopey changey. As Sarah says, 'how's that workin' fer ya, there'…
Sorry, none of those questions were hard. And her negatives are so strong (again fairly and grossly unfairly), that she is indeed unelectable to the office of the preisdent of the United States.
You are correct. One poll.
An outlier? Perhaps. Or, perhaps, a trend is developing.
Be afraid.
Obama is already proving he doesn't have an intellectual pedigree. Yes, I dont find being the editor of Harvard Law Review being an impressive achievement and still doesn't give him much of a record either.
Something you may notice to, Obama is only intellectual enough that he is only capable of repeating the same failed policies again and again. I have not seen any intellect come out of Obama or anyone in his administration.
Says republicans…Look, she gives fine, rousing speeches and certainly says the right thing about fiscal responsibility and strong national defence, but in any interview she gives I am left wanting. Wanting that she would have a much stronger command of the issues, and a much stronger ability to be intellectually nimble around nuanced questions. That is not the liberal media telling me, that is watching for myself.
Yes, she is hated by the left and the media (actually the media loves her since everything she does and says is a headline that is voraciously consumed).
But she has done nothing for many mainstream republicans or independents to embrace her. With all this free time she should be going on the Sunday talk shows and CNN and MSNBC and taking the fight to her detractors.
Oh. So you must think that military personnel who throw themselves on mines in order to save their buddies are stupid too.
Neither have any other presidents.
I was refering to the press and their measure tones – we as a nation would be better off if that were the norm for all presidents.
Yes, politics is bare-knuckle and the efforts by everyone from DailyKos, to the MSNBC line-up has done severe damage to the national debate by creating a choking dust storm of discord and divisiveness and hate.
But, remember, the best and the brightest are not on television, yet, somehow, the Bachman's and the Palin's seem rather dim next to these pancaked-faced pundits and pretend journalists.
in case you didn't get the memo, apparently your messiah is the only editor of the Harvard Law Review who never had an article actually published in it (at least none that anyone's seen lately- maybe it's yet another thing being hidden). it would seem he was just another affirmative action appointee. that would mean his "impressive achievement" is that he's black.
Good people, people who value their reputations and respect the reputations of others, must rally to the defense of other good people who've been slandered. Indeed, the importance of reputation is so great that I would defend even a lowlife, if he were accused of some heinous deed he hadn't done.
Ok, so there's 6 people that aren't buying it or reading it. That's complete and total justification for the destruction of journalistic integrity and malevolent character assassination. Quite the thought process you got going there.
Like I said before, Obama had shown no signs of electability at all and he still ran and won for presidency. So really, if Obama could be elected, then there is little doubt that Palin or anyone else could be elected to.
I said it before and Ill say it again, no one is unelectable.
As for the negatives against Palin may be strong, but they are no where as strong as the negatives against Obama now. So really, it doesn't matter.
Since when has the truth really mattered much to the MSM when it comes to the Palin's?
And I find it funny that one of his primary sources of information on the Palins is the National Enquirer. They are certainly not know as paragons of the truth. Seen Elvis at the local 7-11 or space aliens camping nearby lately, give the NE a call and they'll run it.
I once sat for a brunch at a yacht club in Orange County with a dozen people, bedrock republicans all who watch FoxNews to the exclusion of all others, and there was nothing but unanimous dismissiveness of Gov. Palin.
Pointing out the unfair and bias treatment of Palin is one thing, but grasping on to her as the second coming of Ronald Reagan is a serious mistake.
I'm sure given time you'd explain to us how Dan Rathers forging documents and presenting them as factual is a high point in journalism, but save your time and tell me how Keith Olberman's calling Michelle Malkin a "Mashed up bag of meat with lipstick" didn't really reveal a desire to beat her up.
I'd agree with you if she were running for office. But she's not. She's under no obligation to take "the fight" to anyone. I actually think she's doing the right thing by ignoring her detractors. They are being left to flail about weakly against someone that isn't even running.
Her detractors look quite silly.
I wish I knew what you mean, and how to respond to such an asinine question, but sadly, I do not. Surely, you are not comparing the brave soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors that serve our nation with the fromer governor of Alaska.
"but in any interview she gives I am left wanting"
Wanting what exactly? Just for comparison, look at the fluff pieces Obama is party to in the media. He is NEVER challenged. If he had to endure one fifth of the treatment that Sarah Palin has he would've run screaming with a snot bubble in his nose.
Nothing that I've seen in an Obama interview tells me he has the nuance and nimble intellect you speak of either because he's never been challenged. The few times when he's been caught out in the open he's made serious slip ups. Joe the Plumber? Remember him? That little gaffe demonstrated a lack of ability to think on his feet despite what the sycophants on MSNBC want you to believe.
Yet he's in the White House and you're here bashing Palin….
It is evident *why* the media has such an obsession with her, and yes to the respectable journalists they look quite silly. But, to everyone except her rabid supporters she is nothing more than the charicature of herself, and that is a severe, sinking weight around the GOP.
Then why all this negative publicity? Why waste the time and effort on someone you aren't terrified of (since you seem to be speaking for the entire left)?
And don't give me that "lol, it's fun to make fun of her" garbage because all this crap that's been spewed at Palin and her family over the past three years has gone way beyond simple mockery. It's a scary, insane and pathological obsession you people have with her, only to turn around and say "oh, we're not scared of her". You're all like scary stalkers or something.
Irrelevant? Then why did Joe McGinniss write this book in the first place if she isn't relevant? Why does the media constantly go after her if she's irrelevant?
You know what most intelligent and normal people do with irrelevant things? THEY IGNORE THEM.
"…to everyone except her rabid supporters she is nothing more than the charicature of herself, and that is a severe, sinking weight around the GOP"
Again, all part of the narrative. Show me where any GOP'er has said this about Palin. Show me the Tea Partiers (the millions of them) that boo her or refuse to go to an event because she's speaking.
You're regurgitating something that quite frankly isn't true. Perhaps you WANT to believe it is, I don't know you to make that judgement. All I can say is that you've been given a narrative and are running with it. Albeit a little more eloquently than some of your liberal peers that post here….
