The New York Times’s Shaila Dewan, in her February 26 article “To Court Blacks, Foes of Abortion Make Racial Case,” put her foot in her mouth, metaphorically speaking, and illustrated years of MSM misinformation concerning blacks and abortion.
Her article starts out as a factual report on how “the largely white staff of Georgia Right to Life” – who cares what color they are, and what’s “largely” mean? – has enhanced its efforts to address the “high number of black women who undergo abortions.”
Then, at the 150-words mark, comes the first of her foot insertions.

Across the country, the anti-abortion movement, long viewed as almost exclusively white and Republican, is turning its attention to African-Americans and encouraging black abortion opponents across the country to become more active.
“Long-viewed” as a result of what image projection source? Who has long promoted that view?
Ms. Dewan’s mentions the effective anti-abortion role among blacks being played by a documentary that links “slavery, Nazi-style eugenics, birth control and abortion.” She identifies the creator of the film as “a white abortion opponent” who used “young white conservatives” in a “sting operation” to tape Planned Parenthood employees accepting donations designated for abortions for black women.
What’s with all the color references? (Later Ms. Dewan keeps alive the myth that James O’Keefe III was arrested “on charges that he tried to tamper with the telephones of Senator Mary L. Landrieu.” See his statement here.)
She quotes a black pastor and abortion opponent saying,
The game changes when blacks get involved. And in the pro-life movement, a lot of the groups that have been ignored for years, they’re now getting galvanized.
Ignored for years? By whom? The MSM perhaps?
When Big Journalism asked Mark Crutcher, who created the documentary, what attention his film had received by the MSM he said,
They ignored it.
We’re shocked!
Next, Ms. Dewan states that,
The factors fueling the focus on black women — an abortion rate far higher than that of other races and the ties between the effort to legalize and popularize birth control and eugenics — are, at heart, old news. But they have been given exaggerated new life by the Internet, slick repackaging, high production values and money, like the more than $20,000 that Georgia Right to Life invested in the billboards.

Note the adjectival spin: “exaggerated new life… slick repackaging… high production values and money,” all conveying manipulative and diabolical connotations. (In the audio version of this there would be dark, evil music in the background.) Then there’s that whopping figure of 20 grand! Toward the end of the piece Ms. Dewan will report that the entrapment of Planned Parenthood employees, wherein they accept donations for the abortion of black children,…
… led to calls by black leaders to withdraw financing of Planned Parenthood, which receives about $350 million a year in government money for education and medical services.
$20,000 versus $350,000,000! Even Timmy Geithner knows the first number is much smaller than the second.
Ms. Dewan does another foot insertion as she quotes Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union who confessed shock at hearing that blacks make up 40% of the nations abortions but only 13% of the population.
I just really assumed that white people aborted more than anyone else, and black people would not do this because we’re culturally a religious people, we have large families,” Ms. Gardner said.
So, who led Ms. Gardner to that erroneous assumption? Must be the MSM. Wasn’t the Boy Scouts.
With yet another reference to a gestalt moment, this one experienced by the black woman, Catherine Davis, hired by Georgia Right to Life to reach out to black women, we read:
The more I dug into it, the more vast I found that the network [of abortion clinics in black neighborhoods] was,” Ms. Davis said. “And I realized that African-American women just did not know the truth, they did not understand the truth about the abortion industry.
So who didn’t tell African-American women them the truth? The MSM is alone in the line-up of suspects. Or, did the MSM not care to know the truth? Ignorant by design? Either way it’s not a pretty picture for the MSM. Ms. Dewan is killin’ em.

In this last quote, Ms. Dewan puts her foot in mouth, up to the knee, as she aims to defuse accusations against Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger concerning her association with eugenics.
Scholars acknowledge that Sanger did ally herself with eugenics, at the time a mainstream movement, but said she believed that birth control, sterilization and abortion should be voluntary and not based on race…“It’s unfair to characterize those efforts as racially targeted in a negative way,” said Ellen Chesler, a historian and Sanger biographer, who is now on the board of Planned Parenthood.
So…what does racially targeted in a positive way mean?
Note to Ms. Dewan: Grasp foot in mouth with both hands at the ankle. Pull forward sharply to remove. Cover teeth with lip to minimize abrasions.

Here is the argument for "racially targeted in a positive way":
Sanger's eugenics involvement were in order to promote the "black community" – as there would be less mouths to feed, the black families would be able to get ahead more easily. As there is only so much resources available (based on racism, of course – Whites use it all up!), Black people must control their population to achieve higher living standards are raise their collective fortunes.
It's a twisted sort of logic, but that's the best I can do for it. Abortion is evil – and when you twist in "fixed pie" economics and the class-race-gender glasses that leftists always see the world through – it has horrific results.
I live in an area that does not have very many black people but we do have a large Hispanic and sizable Filipino population. When I went to my local crisis pregnancy center to get some information for my daughter, who is also pro-life and active in her faith, I was greeted by a lovely black woman who also attended a a pro-life conference recently where Abby Johnson ( former Planned Parenthood director) was a keynote speaker. Ms. Johnson made it a point to say that we need to enlist all minorities in the pro-life movement as Planned Parenthood is targeting them. Ironically, Planned Parenthood was approved to build a Second clinic in our area recently after twice being rejected. They resorted to fairly dubious – middle of the night tactics to achieve their goal. They are truly an insidious, cancerous organization that has a mandate to turn all their clinics who purport to provide only "women's health care" into abortion mills. Planned Parenthood not only is a racist organization – it has no regard for either the women they treat or the men involved with these women.
Another brilliant expose, Archy, of the word-twisting, mind-bending lengths the Leftist Media will go to trying to maintain the "agenda"…
…they are losing the fight daily and BigWorld is here to record it blow-by-blow. Thanks
P.S. Thanks, also, for another opportunity to test my theory – that inserting an irrelevant photo of The Stooges in any article increases commenter response by 742% on average !
"The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."
"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."
"Eugenics is … the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political and social problems."
"The undeniably feeble-minded should, indeed, not only be discouraged but prevented from propagating their kind."
- Margaret Sanger
It's sad that one day they are all, gotta protect the poor black women and children, and the next day, the conservatives are just using the poor black women and children to further their causes.
Hypocrisy.
But that's the way of the dems, is it not. Deceive and use, as long as they are willing, and can vote.
If those words don't make your skin crawl, nothing will. Sick barely encompasses the filth of that …. I can't even say human being, she's not!!
The mind boggles. The NY Times now says it's a bad thing to bring black people into the discussion on abortion?
How dare they leave the plantation.
These dangerous cultists are ensuring a genocide against Whites and a massive crime wave for their goofy "God" views. Magic Man in the sky didn't help Christopher Newsom and Channon Christian when they were raped and tortured and killed by Blacks. You weirdos are endangering our lives and society in general.
Funny how these same people can't seem to bring themselves to complain about WHITE abortions. I guess they don't care about White babies. They always show their cards in the end.
They have portrayed the "Blacks" as the lesser humans who need help for so long, that the "Blacks" have fallen to the same belief! They wait for the scraps of society to be thrown their way, in their idle time they make babies they can't afford to feed, but not to fear, "Planned Parenthood" will be there to lessen the burden!!! Thank God not all "Blacks" have fallen for their games, some realize they are not "Black" at all, they are humans just like everyone else and don't need special treatment, just equal treatment!!!
Cut off Federal funding (your money and mine) and let's see what happens to this "organization".
Another entry point to recruit thinking individuals to dismantle the Left.
Stop Federal funding (OUR money) from going to ANY quasi- public/private organization. If they can't make it on their own merits it says what their true value to society really is.
And it gives the politicians and the press one less thing for the populace to fight over. Less room to grandstand politico?

Ahhhhh, let me think……..

Who am I missing?
I have always wondered if this was not the true agenda of these clinics.

Anyone who says that Margaret Sanger didn't target American minorities is either woefully misinformed or just plain lying. Planned Parenthood has its roots in the eugenics movement and eugenics was about sterilization, abortion and incarceration for "undesirables." And it wasn't just American minorities. This was a world wide effort that actually ranked ethnicities…with of course Western Europeans at the top of the list. The plan (as we all now know) of this creepy group was to create a master race by way of Social Darwinism. And what shape did this movement take on in the United States? That's right. The Progressive Movement. Grandfather to modern day Liberalism. Woodrow Wilson, Margaret Sanger, Alexander Graham Bell, Helen Keller, FDR, the list goes on and on.
"The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." — Margaret Sanger, letter to Clarence Gamble, Dec. 10, 1939. – Sanger manuscripts, Sophia Smith Collection, Smith College.
Any entity will try to survive, no different with the ghouls over at PP. Hypocrisy from the NYT’s is their stock and trade, no surprise there, anything to perpetuate the liberal myth of caring for minorities…they love’em to death!
"In 1919 Sanger even stated, "More children from the fit; less from the unfit – that is the chief issue of birth control." excerpted from "From Darwin to Hitler" by Richard Weikart.
"Others, particularly Margaret Sanger (in America), rejected positive eugenics outright, labeling it as "cradle competition" between fit and unfit. The only eugenics these women would tolerate were negative measures, and it was for this reason that they set up their clinics in poor neighborhoods." from the book "Eugenics and Other Evils" G.K. Chesterton
WTF?!?!
Okay there are two possibilities here:
1- you are a troll from the Daily Kos here to make the BIGS look racist
2-You are a racist who really does want to kill off the black population.
Choice one is pathetic
Choice two is just sick and sad
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your work and service in shedding light into this! By the way, does the New York Times and Planned Parenthood not recognize the work of Presidential Candidate Alan Keyes? Alan Keyes has been VERY active in the PRO-LIFE Movement and has made that one of the Pillars of candidacy as an Independent. He also loves the U.S. Constitution and upholds Christianity as it's roots. He is not a *white racists* –in fact, he is not a *black nationalistic* or a *black racist* even though he is *black* and is of African Descent, he is an AMERICAN 100%. He is Liberal in this love and liberal in his courage, and defends the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of that which is Good. He is a Christian, and he is a friend of the Mother and Child. Please take note of Alan Keyes and a candidate for God-Freedom and God-Love and for the United States of America for future reference. And, please do keep him, and all those who dare to voice the voice of freedom, and the right to life, according to our United States Constitution in your prayers for God's will and for God's protection and God-Direction if you would. James O'Keif, Hanna Giles, Lila Rose, and all the youth too. And please continue to pray for the Hand of God in this entire Situation and His Heart, and pray that all those of the Light will be encouraged and not discouraged in Christ. Yes, Christ.
could you find a way to phrase that which doesn't call for black to be put in quote marks?
Its sounds like you are trying to say that the black community has be held hostage by Big Gov,
and that did them no favors.
If that's the point then you are correct. No one gets ahead when you lower the bar,
Reverend Wright
How silly of me to have forgotton the Right Reverend Wright………….
Sean,
Sanger's intent was not to move the black population ahead, but to control the proliferation of "undesirables". Sanger's words, not mine.
I believe they need to become Dis-organizied along with their PIC..ACORN..
Randy
White peoples (conservatives) don't care much about black babies being killed, they just pissed that Black folk be votin' all the f**kin' time fo' Liberals, when it's the f**kin' Libs be tryin to wipe out the Blacks thru the Dimocrat Sacramento o' abortion……Go figure…
Guess who's on the board of Gorergia Right to Life?
Dr. Aleveda King (niece of Dr. Martin Luther King jr.) <–Amazing woman who has devoted her life to uncovering the "silent genocide" intiated by Margaret Sanger.
Dr. Alveda Kings views the fight against abortion as an extension of the civil rights movement and battle for the dignity of all human beings!!!!!
"We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population," she said, "if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." Woman's Body, Woman's Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America, by Linda Gordon
"She" was Margaret Sanger
"…human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning… human beings who never should have been born." Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people
I recently went to a talk by Dr. Alveda King. One woman asked her a very interesting Q: apparently Jesse Jackson used to be an outspoken opponent of what was clearly abortion targeted at the black community, Dr. King explained that Jesse Jackson sold out to PP and other feminist groups when making a bid to run for president.
Very sad, but Dr. King herself is a heroine and truly inspiring woman!
Documented fact: she wanted to purify the human race of those of African ethnicity.
Probably doesn't taste good enough for her to eat it.
I can't think of a thing that would make the KKK happier than blacks killing their own children. The very liberal, progressives have convinced blacks to kill themselves and the morons have fallen for it hook, line and sinker.
Unfortunately the Progressives have hijacked god-fearing liberals to their fascist endgame. But more and more Christian liberals are seeing the Obama agenda for what it really is. Keyes is a good man, but he should really switch to I or R.
How arrogant and condescending can one person be? All the while showing how ignorant they truly are!!!
I think as many people as possible should contact Ms. Dewan and thank her for her current round of misinformation and stupidity!!!
http://www.facebook.com/shaila.dewan
Please don't use such a broad brush when speak about an entire ethnic population.
There are a lot of pro life people in the Black Community.
They simply dont get the air time of an Al Sharpton who you would think would place himself on the front lines of this issue, not just as a black minister, but as the father of a lovely young woman who Planed Parenthood would gladly target in order to profit off of her misery.
Didnt we all come from Africa?
I believe that whole fertile crescent thing was North Africa/Asia.
Hillary Cinton 'admired' Sanger:
“The 20th century reproductive rights movement, really embodied in the life and leadership of Margaret Sanger, was one of the most transformational in the entire history of the human race. It has changed the lives of tens of millions of women. It has changed attitudes and perceptions about women and our roles in society. It ushered in demographic and social changes that have brought us closer to gender equality than at any time.
Yet we know that Margaret Sanger’s work here in the United States and certainly across our globe is not done. Here at home, there are still too many women who are denied their rights because of income, because of opposition, because of attitudes that they harbor. But around the world, too many women are denied even the opportunity to know about how to plan and space their families. They’re denied the power to do anything about the most intimate of decisions.”
–Hillary Clinton, Planned Parenthood Margaret Sanger Award – March 27, 2009
“Today eugenics is suggested by the most diverse minds as the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political and social problems. “I think you must agree … that the campaign for birth control is not merely of eugenic value, but is practically identical with the final aims
of eugenics … Birth control propaganda is thus the entering wedge for the
eugenic educator.
“As an advocate of birth control I wish … to point out that the unbalance between the birth rate of the ‘unfit’ and the ‘fit,’ admittedly the greatest present menace to civilization, can never be rectified by the inauguration of a cradle competition between these two classes. In this matter, the example of the inferior classes, the fertility of the feebleminded, the mentally defective, the poverty-stricken classes, should not be held up for emulation.
“On the contrary, the most urgent problem today is how to limit and discourage the over-fertility of the mentally and physically defective.”

That's grossly unfair and libelous!!! You owe whores everywhere an apology!!!
The whore's are only peddling their flesh; Rev. Jesse was peddling something much more precious: the lives of millions of black babies.
"Scholars acknowledge that Sanger did ally herself with eugenics, at the time a mainstream movement, but said she believed that birth control, sterilization and abortion should be voluntary and not based on race…“It’s unfair to characterize those efforts as racially targeted in a negative way,” said Ellen Chesler, a historian and Sanger biographer, who is now on the board of Planned Parenthood."
This explains why PP officials work so hard to keep Sanger's "Pivot of Civilization" –in which she advocates creation of concentration camps to isolate the "genetically unfit", off of library shelves.
Be Afraid Congress, Be Very Very Afraid!

And these are not necessarily her most insane writings.
This woman proves you have to turn your mind into a pretzel to defend this organization. Unreal.
I'm shocked! If the truth of this ever got out, it would be ignored! Sigh.. how diabolical it is. Earlier on this site I read an article ABOUT Margaret Sanger. She was indeed a big racist eugenics type who wanted to use abortion in a negative way. The author of this piece was witty and funny. But he could have pointed out the "scholars" who describe Sanger as the quote did, are not unanimous. In fact, they are either ignorant or they are apologist that have for a long time covered up as best they could the clear evidence with their vapid opinions of Sanger. Sanger was no Nightingale, she wanted to kill fetuses, especially of black women. Sanger was in fact a racist of the most vile type.
Oh yeah and I'm not done. Sanger was born on the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
By the by folks, here is a link to the article I mentioned. When you see the photo, you may want to dim your monitor to prevent damage, and for gods sake shield your eyes.

Randy, God doesn't often intervene when bad things happen to us. There ar several reasons for this, but ultimately, we all have our agency, our ability to choose our actions. That is why we are here on this Earth, to prove to our Father in Heaven that we will follow His law when given the choice. If He were to intervene, then He couldn't fairly judge those who commit crimes. He would know why He was judging them, but they wouldn't. Because God is perfect, He is also perfectly fair. In giving us our agency, He allows us to do what we will with it, even when an innocent person is injured because of our actions. We will be judged accordingly for whatever harm we cause others. This is not evidence that God does not exist, but rather, that He loves so much, He is unwilling to break His promises to us.
I'm glad that some black leaders are finally starting to understand what's been done to their people, and are trying to change the momentum. It'll be hard work for sure, but they'll be in my thoughts and prayers. The abortion numbers in this country make me ill.
Uh, no one, looks like you can open mouth and insert foot. Nice job, crankyhousewife!
Jessie Jackson is a whore. He either has sold out, or has shaken down anyone who was ever relevant. His Rainbow Push Organization is nothing but a criminal enterprise, run on the ACORN business model. He should be investigated, and charged with a RICO Action.
I remember back in the 80s or so that the Black Community rallied against the abortion clinics and liquor stores that seemed to be on every corner in their communities. The MSM covered it for a while and then the story died down. You don't hear much from the vocal black leadership about abortion these days–at least not from the leadership that is deemed worthy of coverage.
Some nefarious, scary white person or group of white people who want to do something really, really bad to to all black people–we hear about "them" all the time.
Black leadership who is actively pursuing the pro-life agenda–not so much.
The real Margaret Sanger is easily exposed by simply reading her own writings. Had this morally disfigured woman ever achieved the kind of absolute political power of a certain Austrian Fascist whom she so greatly admired, she might well have broken his record for genocide in her own life time. As it stands now, when her post-mortem influence is included in the count, she has outdone him many times over. Though she has been nearly sainted by the Left since her death in 1966, volcanos of blood have been spewing from her legacy without ceasing ever since and until she and her movement are exposed to their victims that blood will continue to flow.
I think your use of the quotation mark is a good way to illustrate the group-manipulation of the left.
They truly DO NOT think of individuals as beautiful, worthy beings, but as pawns, to be misled and taken advantage of.
OOOOOooooh! Good get!
I knew about Sanger and her eugenics ways for a long time, before Beck. Her quotes are really creepy and will reflect in the health rationing boards in our health care I'm afraid.
Nice one on that imgonna'………. thanks.
You are right. How callous of me. I apologize to all the whores I have insulted.
As a man, I like a good fresh "sportin' woman" as much as the next guy. Jessie and Company give whores the world over a bad name.
Now there's a new angle; adopt a whore week………
Is this intended to mean African Americans do not care about life (the unborn)? She failed to recognize that a coin has two sides; she chose one side and ignored the other. I simply cannot believe this.
Abortion is the most evil and selfish act anyone could commit.
Everything must be evaluated in terms of race – everything but abon, which is always good by definition.
If a group is "mostly" white, it must not comment on the fact that abortion is mostly on blacks.
Isn't Barack Obama for late term abortion? I often wondered how Black and White evangelicals checked this little fact at the ballot box to elect him president. Were they mesmerized by his supreme coolness?
You can adopt a whore for a week,
but the memories will last a life time……
and so will the VD.
The Government should only be involved in issues as defined in the Constitution. Nowhere do I see funding for arts, abortions/family planning, or education, to mention a few things I want the feds out of.
I have watched : Maafa21 ,the "Documentary" mentioned and I have to ask with Black experts outnumbering whites in the film, why did the NY Times make a point of saying a "White person" produced it? The producers of Maafa21 went directly to the source, researching the information from the papers of Margaret Sanger , Planned Parenthood, their board, and their eugenic supporters. One would suppose that a "Journalist" with the NY Times could settle this debate by doing the same. Maafa21 shows evidence that Margaret Sanger – founder of Planned Parenthood was a member of the American Eugenics Society (AES), spoke to their meetings, met with their VP’s and also spoke to the KKK (proof in Sanger’s autobiography). In addition, other Planned Parenthood members were Eugenics Society members, including Alan Guttmacher, who was at one time the Vice President of the AES. There is an interview in the film with an African American woman who was eugenically sterilized in North Carolina. One of the men who helped fund the North Carolina Eugenics Project was none other than Clarence Gamble the same person Margaret Sanger wrote to in a letter, “We do not want word to get out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.” Coincidence? Gamble also funded Sanger's work and worked on her "Negro Project". Maafa21 quotes directly from early civil rights leaders who warned that the placement of abortion clinics in their neighborhoods would be "Black Genocide", and now the stats are proving this to be true. Seems to me that some of these Civil Rights Forgotten statements could be located in the Times' archives, huh? Maafa21 shows how in the Arkansas Eugenics Society headed by Mrs. Hilda Cornish later became a Planned Parenthood headed by the same woman. As for the claim that this is some sort of attempt at converting Blacks to be Republicans, I hardly think that is true since, Maafa21 included racist audio of Republican President Nixon explaining why people vote for abortion – any guess? Anyone who wants thr teuth without the hype – needs to watch Maafa21. Get a copy of Maafa21 – here http://www.maafa21.com
The only thing I knew about Margaret Sanger was how she was portrayed in one of those PBS docu-dramas about the women's movement back in the late 70s or early 80s. She was portrayed as a tireless crusader working to make women's lives better by introducing bc.
They seem to have left out a few facts…
Are there online links?
Uh — I'm a (non-Republican) black woman who hs been involved in the prolife movement for about 20 years. So I didn't exist for two decades?
Most so-called black "leaders" are liberal Democrats that are closely tied to that agenda. Many of them get money from white liberals (like Obama) so naturally they're not going to bite the hand that feeds them.
Trish, thanks for your post. The crisis pregnancy centers in large urban areas serve MANY black and Latino women (Latinas also have a high abortion rate). Prolifers are always accused of not caring about or even hating women, but when we try to help these women AND their unborn babies, women who are making the CHOICE to carry their babies to term, we are told we are "misleading" women and the centers are attacked. And many of the legislators leading the charge are black. I just don't get it.
This guy and the obviously bogus "Shiniqua" are racist idiots.
Reverend Jeremiah Wright.
Regretably, Speaker Pelosi is otherwise engaged. Perhaps she'll have more time after November.
You got that right. Hopefully, that will change.
God bless Bigjournalism.com and Archy Cary. Finally the wall is crumbling around the MSM and the failures of the liberal cultural agenda!
It's easy now to damn everyone who believed in eugenics as evil, but remember that it was cutting edge science at the time. Other context clues let us in on the intentions of believing what at the time was "settled science." We often forget that racism comes from science too, not just eugenics. It's an important reminder that just because there's a scientific consensus on any subject doesn't mean that it'll hold water over time. There was once a scientific consensus about the Ptolemaic theory of the universe too–and the scientists who believed it were glad to accuse Galileo of heresy rather than examine his evidence.
The late 19th century was the heyday of scientific sensationalism, and both racism and eugenics depended on Darwinism and similar earlier theories. Nearly everyone who was well-educated bought into these theories, because they were "the thing." Only idiots disagreed. the theory of eugenics was destroyed by Hitler; not scientifically, but because he took the concept to the logical conclusion and horrified the world. The communists did the same thing, except they murdered the middle class (and aspiring members of the 'proletariat') of every 'race,' which intellectuals always hated anyway, so they haven't gotten quite the same opprobrium.
Racism is slowly dying, as more and more people learn about recent findings in genetics that make the old visual cues obsolete. One wonders how many of the 'species' that exist based on observation will suddenly become extinct upon learning there's no variation–the Mexican Spotted Owl and the Pacific Spotted Owl are probably one species. The minor coloration differences are negligible genetically speaking.
The point of all this is that we need to avoid judging past generations too harshly; Sanger was wrong, yes, and had malicious intent in many ways. But she was probably sincerely convinced that science 'proved' her prejudices correct. Same goes for Wilson and TR, and to a lesser extent FDR. The lesson is that science is not only not infallible, but that the latest craze should ALWAYS be treated with scientific caution and ruthless skepticism. Whenever anyone declares the debate to be over, suspicions should instantly rise along with the hackles. It's for this reason that I am still not convinced that evolution is anything but a fairy-story. If the evidence is so powerful then there would be no need to exorcise as demons anyone who questions any part of it. Once it starts being scientific, I might take another look, but so long as the Priests of Saint Darwin act like inquisitors, I'm keeping my skepticism firmly intact.
The same goes for any other 'science' that really just amounts to the usurpation of power like AGW.
And you too, Bohomme.
Thanks for the sourcing – I couldn't get to it today!
Re: The point of all this is that we need to avoid judging past generations too harshly.
That sounds an awful lot like moral relativism, which is precisely the thinking that got us into this mess. The reason that their cutting edge science went down the road to genocide was because it was their intention to upend the inalienable rights of man in favor of Darwinist Socialism. The Progressives rejected Theism in favor of Monism and Materialism, and therefore had no problem doing whatever it takes to push the human species forward. The fact that Hitler went so far so fast was perhaps an embarrassment to them, but their intentions were absolutely the same. Galileo may be scientifically equivalent to Darwin for his Earth shattering revelations, but he is not the same as the Progressives anymore than Martin Luther is the same as Jim Jones.
Most so-called black "leaders" are liberal Democrats that are closely tied to that agenda. Many of them get money from white liberals (like Obama) so naturally they're not going to bite the hand that feeds them.
Many of the Black legislators who are using the law to attack CPCs are either:
a. Mislead by the MSM and Planned Parenthood
b. Morally bankrupt. e.g., Sheila Dixon, current convict and ex-Mayor of Baltimore
So, the pro-life movement must continue efforts like the "Too Many Aborted" ad and Maafa 21 campaigns to reveal the true evil of abortion to the Black community. Then, things will change among Black legislators who need the support of Black voters.
Pastor Eric Redmond (who's pro-life BTW) brilliantly explains how so many Black Christians can keep voting for politicians who loathe their faith and even their existence:

About the same time Margaret Sanger was saying those sentiments, the communist party and socialism were gaining a foothold in the US and around the world.
I just feel, eugenics and communism/socialism go hand in hand.
