The Chicago Reader is running a spread on the candidates vying for the Democrat nomination for Obama’s former Senate seat. The title of the article is quite offensive:
What’s at Stake in the Senate
Not only could a Democrat help push Obama’s agenda – he or she could make the chamber a little more black, female, gay, or righteous.
This is what makes some of us disgusted with Progressive Democrats and their media lap dogs. How is the title of this article in any way true to the spirit of the following quote:
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

In order to make MLK’s quote match the spirit of the article title above, it would need to read something like this:
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will be judged by the color of their skin, sexual orientation, and then by the content of their gender.

People that write articles like this hate the white majority in this country. They think the best way to change the country is to make them the minority. That's why an open border policy is needed. While race, sexuality and gender should not determine how good a senator is, this article highlights a known fact – that the majority of the senate is white, male and straight.
Equality should mean judgment based on ability and results, but to not highlight where an inequality exists would be plain ignorant.
The most overrepresented group, however, are Jews. Why don't you mention that?

I'm tortured by not being able to watch it tonight. I'm in Germany, it's 9:00pm and the only news channel on AFN is playing "Good Morning America". In my experiences with american women, they are all for sexism and racism – as long as they are orchestrating it against someone else. Basically, feminism has been a scam since the late 1970s; Christina Hoff Sommers exposes this garbage in her book, the war on boys (it really is a must-read for new parents). As far as African-Americans – well, I guess a lot of the same applies. Funny: for people who like to wax indignant about racism, some of them sure do seem to practice a lot of it.

What I personally love about this comment is the word 'or'
If you parse the sentence, 'the chamber' can be EITHER 'a little more black' or 'righteous' (not both); EITHER 'female' or 'righteous'; EITHER 'gay' or 'righteous'
So, apparently, according to this, there's no way to be both 'black' AND 'righteous' (or both 'female' and 'righteous' or both 'gay' and 'righteous.'
Since the main definition of 'righteous' is "morally right or justifiable; virtuous" I'd be mighty annoyed if I were 'black' 'female' or 'gay' to suddenly be told that I could not be 'righteous' as well.

When I saw that an article from The Reader, of all things, l was being used as a thread topic, I damned near wondered why the bloody hell this article was even written; let alone put up here.
This is a a THROWAWAY BIRD CAGE LINER, that "normal" folks pick up to see what's playing at local movie theatres, which author might be at the Unabridged Bookstore, and/or take a peek at jobs wanted for a dog walker, or some such thing.
This paper is below even the alternative paper, the EVO ( THE EAST VILLAGE OTHER ) of the late '60s, in NYC and defunct now for decades.

I'm so tired of this word "progressive"….part of the way we're going to beat these people back is to call them out for what they truly are…liberals!
