We have an update on the story of CBS’s refusal to release the full recording of His Presidency Barack Obama calling American workers “Slugs.”
Blogger John Romano of Yes But However has been doing the work of a real reporter, holding CBS to account for their decision to withhold this very newsworthy audio:

Is CBS protecting the President in some way? Did the White House bring pressure to bear on CBS over the tape? Is this all much ado about nothing? CBS News’ “decline to comment” doesn’t help matters much.

Boy, you have to love it when a “news” organization, a company in the business of seeking comment from the subjects of their stories, refuses to comment on one of their own stories.

Last weekend, His Presidency Barack Obama was captured making potentially offensive comments to a group of big money donors who had paid large sums of money for special access to His Presidency.

We observed that CBS only released “selectively edited” moments from the raw tape. We know how much the mainstream media values complete and full disclosure of recordings of this nature, so we found it curious, to say the least, that there was not one drop of intellectual curiosity from these guardians of media purity regarding the content of the full recording.

Maybe CBS’s motive has nothing to do with protecting His Presidency from potential embarrassment. Perhaps, like Nixon before them, CBS accidentally erased the portions of the recording that they have not released. Anything is possible, right?

Alas, no. John Romano, publisher of the blog “Yes, But, However!” has confirmed with CBS’s Mark Knoller (via Twitter) that CBS has decided that they are not going to release the complete recording.

Does anyone out there know where we can find a copy of the full recording of His Presidency’s comments to donors in Chicago, made accidentally over an open mic?

We have only been able to find select “heavily edited” moments from the recording.

CBS broke the story by releasing the following short clip containing just Obama’s comments about the Republicans thinking he is stupid, and His Presidency’s comments on Paul Ryan:

But where is the audio of the section where the President of the United States of America referred to some Americans as “slugs?”

He did opine that some employees “are slugs” and not trying to do their job. But that’s true of any large institution.”

If His Presidency of the United States referred to a group of Americans as “slugs” and it was recorded, that is news and we deserve to hear it. At least so that we might judge for ourselves just how much insight his comments provide on his assessment of the American people. For all we know, it sounds better than it reads, but it reads pretty bad.

Conservative radio host William Kelly (Kelly Truth Squad AM 560 WIND) recently found himself on the receiving end of mainstream media hostility, as he tried aggressively to interview Rahm Emanuel during Chicago’s Columbus Day Parade.

Chicago Media Icon, Jay Levine of CBS 2, threatened to physically harm Kelly if he didn’t shut up and go away. Levine issued this threat in front of no less than 3 cameras.

Several days later, William Kelly pressed 2nd degree assault charges against Jay Levine.

Our cameras caught up with Levine, and all of the other people involved with this story, to document their reactions to the latest developments.

Rachel Maddow, whose special on Timothy McVeigh airs on MSNBC tonight, is quite the investigative reporter. Not long ago, she obtained explosive evidence of James O’Keefe’s wardrobe fraud, and she has unleashed it on both of her viewers.

maddow okeefe

Thanks to ACORN’s District Attorney, Jerry Brown, Maddow was able to expose this frame of heavily edited video which proves the ACORN sting was all a fraud! Conclusive proof that James O’keefe was not dressed like a pimp at all.

Maddow: [Excitedly] “Check out the unedited tape! ….Now wait a second here. You see that dress shir… wah… pinstripes there. You see that dress shirt that’s visible as Mr. O’Keefe opens the door and exits the office? It’s a dress shirt. What happened to the fur and the 1970 blacksploitation Superfly outfit?…. But the pimp outfit thing is just the start….You were had.

Wow! what an amazing piece of investigative journalism she has produced. She found the smoking pinstripes! (more…)

The Chicago Reader is running a spread on the candidates vying for the Democrat nomination for Obama’s former Senate seat. The title of the article is quite offensive:

readertitle2

What’s at Stake in the Senate

Not only could a Democrat help push Obama’s agenda – he or she could make the chamber a little more black, female, gay, or righteous.

This is what makes some of us disgusted with Progressive Democrats and their media lap dogs. How is the title of this article in any way true to the spirit of the following quote: (more…)

Media Matters is taking the Tea Party Convention to task regarding its limited credentialing for press access.

Tea Party convention hosts Palin and bans the press. Except Palin employer Fox News

Media message from the right wing: If you don’t give the Tea Party “fair coverage,” then you will be banned from covering its convention.

And who says the conservative movement doesn’t hold journalism in contempt?

So….when a quasi political convention held by a private group selectively excludes dissenting media, that’s contempt. But when the White House selectively excludes dissenting media, singling them out for vilification, that’s just fine with Media Matters.

For the record, I would like to see lamestream media outlets there. More often than not, when they cover the Tea Parties, they embarrass themselves in a way that simultaneously exposes their bias, while energizing and growing the base.
