Susan Swift

Susan Swift engaged Rush Limbaugh listeners last fall with an epic and popular call capturing the political frustration of millions.  This call then spawned her blog site www.susaninglendale.com, and she has published articles for her own and other political websites, and has been interviewed on the B-Cast.

Susan Swift graduated with honors from UCLA, earned her J.D. with honors from Pepperdine Law School, served as a Law Review editor, published two law review articles and later worked for the international law firm of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.

Susan was then promoted by God to the position of Mother and, with her husband, has seven children.  Susan is a stay-at-home mom, where she has created and runs a small business renting children’s art for television and film productions.  She also produces and directs a Summer Shakespeare drama program for children.

As chronicled here over the past few weeks, the LA Times continues to hype the Occupy Rose Parade miscreants and its disgraced leader, convicted thief and wanna-be one-percenter, Peter Thottam.  Another fluff piece appeared in its blog, describing the human powered “float” the Occupy Rose Parade bunch intend to shove in Americans’s living rooms at the end of the televised 123rd Rose Parade.  The “float” consists of numerous plastic bags strung together and dubbed a corporate “octopus of greed.”

Photo from Occupy The Rose Parade website

The AP’s single close-up photo used by the LA Times shows a paltry seven “Occupiers.”  Contrast this to the many thousands of volunteers who have worked for months preparing floats and practicing with marching bands for the Rose Parade.

Let’s get this straight: The century old Rose Parade uses gazillions of living fresh natural flowers and all natural organic green materials to decorate floats built by thousands of volunteers, many of them children, and is paid for by voluntary private donations.  To protest this supposedly evil symbol of corporate greed, the Occupods have rigged up a 70 by 40 foot “octopus” puppet made of plastic bags and manipulated by just a handful of puppet masters.  Just think of George Soros with eight tentacles.

What is the Rose Parade’s connection to claimed Wall Street abuses? Nothing.  But that isn’t stopping the LA Times, ABC local tv, Yahoo, and other media from dutifully promoting the decomposing Occupy movement’s plan to disrupt the century-old event.

As of December 22, Occupy The Rose Parade had a pathetically insignificant 191 followers on Facebook and 283 followers on Twitter, and its grandiose fundraising plans had raised a laughable $600 just days from their planned protest immediately following the January 2, 2012 Rose Parade.  Given the irrelevant scope of this “movement,” prominent media nonetheless hype their plans and the Pasadena Police Department is specifically working with them to allow their participation in the informal parade that traditionally trails the formal parade floats.

How can this happen, and who is behind this anemic, yet overly propagandized, protest? Peter Thottam is the founder of Occupy The Rose Parade.

He is also an ivy-leaguer from Yale, a Goldman Sachs alum, and former corporate lawyer from an international mega law firm, with a Boalt Hall law degree and a UCLA MBA.  A true one percenter if there ever was one, right?

Founder of at least two anti-war organizations, in 2008 Thottam was arrested in Ventura for confronting Nancy Pelosi over the Iraq war.  Thottam knows how to get television attention, too: he wore a Dick Cheney mask to draw attention to his efforts to impeach Bush during the 2008 Rose Bowl Parade on local television.

Like a one-trick pony, disgraced lawyer, admitted thief and shoplifter Peter Thottam is once again trotting out his Rose Bowl protest theme – presumably to resuscitate the Occupy chaos, but perhaps more likely for self-aggrandizement.  And unlike his previous efforts, this time he’s cleaned himself up and donned a more respectable costume, that of an official Rose Parade organizer, to meet with media.

We can put a face behind the Occupy movement — and it appears to be a wanna-be one percenter.  Peter Thottam is the creator of Occupy Los Angeles and is also the progressive force behind Occupy the Rose Parade.

Thottam’s been planning this occupation disruption of the Rose Parade for the last six months — at least that’s how long he’s had the “Occupy the Rose Parade” Twitter feed going.

Ironically, Peter Thottam is a Goldman Sachs alum, an ivy-leaguer, and former corporate lawyer from an international mega law firm, and recent MBA grad. Yale, Boalt Hall Berkeley law and UCLA MBA.  Does this sound like a community organizer or a one percenter?  While Peter Thottam’s CV reeks of Wall Street elitism, his bio depicts someone grabbing for the corporate brass ring, but strangely unwilling or unable to keep a job at such elite corporate employers as Goldman Sachs or O’Melveny and Myers.

To hear the LA Times summarize Thottam’s political apoplexy, you’d think the guy was a true blue Tea Party Activist, blaming Obama for the last three years of economic misery and destruction:

“The America that’s existed during the bulk of Rose Parades has really been torn apart over the last three years by the unemployment problem, wealth polarization and the middle class shrinking,” Thottam told the Pasadena Sun. (emphasis added)

But what the LA Times and others in the Make-Believe Media apparently missed, or overlooked, are the public records:  From the California Bar Journal Discipline Summaries we learn that back in 2004, while a lawyer, Peter Thottam pled guilty to the crime of petty theft.  Then, in violation of ethics rules, he failed to report his criminal conviction to the state bar. Once discovered, Thottam suffered the disgrace of having his law license suspended by the California State Bar in 2008.

In “The View’s” recent interview with Herman Cain, Joy Behar made the blockbuster revelation that “the Republican Party hasn’t been black friendly over the many centuries in this country.”

Janeane Garofalo

Dang, I had it backwards all these years.  Professor Behar has now debunked the nefarious GOP conspiracy to obscure the apparent true history of Jefferson Davis and the Democrat Party as valiant freedom fighters against Abraham Lincoln and the Republican enslavement of blacks and enactment of Jim Crow laws.  Now I’m breathlessly awaiting the two hour “View Special Report: Republican Racists Exposed.”

Joking aside, I can’t decide whether Behar is pathetically ignorant or maliciously deceitful.  Either way, it is shocking that a liberal “journalist” can appear on national television and, without harsh rebuke or universal media derision, whitewash the sordid history of Democrat oppression of blacks and slander the commensurate noble history of Republican efforts to support blacks.

Race-baiting has become cliche among the Left for at least three decades.  The uglier side of that cliche is the barely masked hatred the Left reserves especially for conservative black politicians – a hatred that often appears uncomfortably close to old-time Democrat racism.  Recently it has plunged some leftwingers into spittle flying, vein popping rage, while others, such as Janeane Garofalo, engage in incoherent psycho-babbling that Republicans love Herman Cain because they secretly hate black men.   The Left incessantly chants how Cain is a stupid, unlearned, unserious Uncle Tom.  While usually incoherent and witless, the Left’s message is consistent:  Blacks are not entitled to respect if they express opinions contrary to those permitted them by the Left.

Within hours of the news, the AP reported “Gadhafi’s Death Clears Way for Oil Exports,” gleefully explaining that Gadhafi’s death will result in lower oil prices the world over!  Energy crisis is solved!  Recession ended!

Remember the Left’s incessant ”No Blood for Oil“ smear against President Bush for the ”illegitimate” wars in Iraq?  According to the Left, and rarely challenged by the Make-Believe Media, Bush’s war in the Middle east was only about getting oil.

But it’s now 2011, not 2003.  There’s a new sheriff in town.  Apparently, blood for oil is a good thing now.   The radical leftwing media source The Guardian only reports how Obama has ”chalked up Libya as another foreign policy success to place alongside the killing in May of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden” and, more ominously, that Gadhafi’s bloody assassination signals a “prescription” for actions against other Middle East countries including Syria.  Syrian President Assad may be wondering if he’s on the White House Secret Assassination List. No mention of blood-for-oil. No mention of illegal regime change.

California nears passage of a law whose effect, if not actual intent, will decimate the private nanny/caregiver industry in California.  Not coincidentally, it will simultaneously benefit unions and the powerful institutional nursing/caregiver lobby.  Cynically titled the “Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights,” AB 889 imposes a massive unfunded mandate on families and parents, and its indirect victims will be thousands of minorities who mostly populate the domestic worker ranks.  In short, Democrats have declared war on California families and minorities in favor of Big Business and the SEIU.

AB 889 declares any person who hires a nanny, babysitter, or in-home caregiver an “employer” who must comply with a mountain of regulatory red tape such as buying workers comp insurance, maintaining meticulous time records, hiring “back up” workers to fill in during state-mandated breaks, and subjecting mom and dad to a dizzying and expensive array of legal hellfire penalties for compliance miscues.  Imagine hiring a babysitter for a night then later being sued for an array of penalties because you failed to hire a second babysitter to cover during the first’s required breaks and dinner.

Parent-employers must also document and prove identification and citizenship with the worker’s social security number.  The indirect effect will be massive unemployment among illegal immigrants – mostly Hispanics and minorities – who comprise a significant proportion of the domestic workforce.

So, parents, minorities and the poor stand to lose big under this law.  Who stands to win?  Big business, lobbyists, and unions.

Lions, and Tigers and Bears! RNC scares the Make-Believe Media. Oh, My!

The AP characterizes the newest RNC campaign ad as a “dark” GOP “attack” that has a “wide-eyed girl … fearfully watching a TV” show that “portrays Obama as a dupe of China that has mastered the United States by 2017,” the end of his second term in office.   CNN calls the ad a “future doomsday scenario.”  WaPo labels it a “foreboding” portrayal of “Obama as a tool of Chinese masters.”   Even fair and balanced Fox News calls the ad “ominous.” Yikes!

So far, the RNC has rolled out four “Change Direction” ads, each presenting serious and straightforward predictions of bad times ahead if Obama is relected in 2012.

I say it’s truth in advertising, but I guess there’s just too much gravitas in the spots for the lefties.  Mustn’t scare the “bed-wetters” in the media!  (h/t Michael Walsh)  So, to help out the RNC lighten the tone, I suggest an ad ridiculing Obama’s record of accomplishments.  With some professional polish, this might do the trick:

Here’s the latest in kids’ superhero costumes for Halloween:  Weinerman!  Belt accessories include a cell phone with optional prophylactic cover for safe sexting.

Weiner

Last week began disastrously for Weiner with the Breitbart disclosures and groveling apology on Monday, yet appeared to have ended on a positive note just in time for the Sunday talk shows.  Starting Thursday night, Chris Matthews labeled Weiner critics “backwards Christian conservatives”, and then on Friday came the Make-Believe Media’s PR blitz of no fewer than three upbeat articles affirming that Weiner’s constituents supported him, that history supported him, and that Democrat leadership supported him.

But then the story broke of an underage Weiner correspondent - a 17 year old girl.  Oh my, what a difference a year makes.  And what an embarrassment to CNN’s sanctimonious scolding of Andrew Breitbart for earlier suggesting such a possibility.  The underage girl, who referred to Weiner as “my true love”in a message, was told by Weiner  “I came back strong.  Large.  Tights and cape.” This superhero imagery surfaced in an email with yet another woman who asked Weiner if he was “busy saving my country from this f****** tea baggers”, to which he replied, “Yep.  Cape.  Tights.  Looking for my sidekick.” He apparently even has his very own fortress of solitude:  the congressional gym complete with requisite mirrors for self-portrait snapshots.

The picture of Anthony Weiner’s naked erect penis is now out there.  No, Andrew Breitbart DID NOT release the picture to the media.  But in typical liberal style, the rabid dogs at Gawker.com are going after Andrew Breitbart, calling him a liar, for something other people did.

Gawker’s Adrian Chen writes:

The picture comes courtesy of Sirus XM shock jocks Opie and Anthony, who had Breitbart on his show.  Breitbart has said he wouldn’t release the picture [of Weiner's penis] because “I don’t think I want to put his family through that type of thing.” But since Breitbart is a liar and keeps his Weiner cock shot on his person at all times (wouldn’t you?), he shared it with the guys on his phone. Then they took their own snapshot and put it on Twitter.

The desperate for ratings jerks are Sirus XM radio shock jocks Opie and Anthony who interviewed Breitbart then betrayed him by snapping a picture of Breitbart’s cell phone as he showed the two men the proof.  Gawker reports the whole affair complete with Weiner’s full monty picture and then has the brazen audacity to call Breitbart a LIAR!

Obama embarrassed himself (and our nation) once again, this time while toasting The Queen of England.  Stranded at a former state dinner setting without his teleprompter, Obama tried to turn a toast into a speech with note cards, talking over the playing of England’s National Anthem.

Some in Make-Believe Media are downplaying the event as an awkward flub, a miscue owed to Obama’s completely understandable lack of experience with royalty (those in the stuffy, uptight British sphincter control set), or perhaps as an isolated, “kinda weird“ incident.

Others are playing the liberal blame game spin tactic: blame anything or anybody but Obama and his White House incompetents.  Jet lag, minor memory lapse, or an overindulgence in elegant lifestyle (too many vacations?).  Heck, blame the band for interrupting Obama by simply doing what protocol dictated.

But Rush Limbaugh called the best spin so far: Blame the Girl.  Yep, blame the Queen herself for snubbing Barry’s own ignorance of protocol.  Check out the Tuscon Citizens lede “Queen snubs Obama’s Toast at State Dinner.”  Compare the title of the video above to this one posted by NewsReelDemocracy who chose to entitle the moment ”Queen humiliated Obama“  instead of “Obama embarrassed Queen with long-winded toast.”

Did you know the high holy days for three major religions are upon us?  Passover, Easter, and  … Earth Day.   And it’s all about population control.

On Earth Day, Earthers bow down and worship Mother Gaia  — this year on Good Friday of all days! — by turning off electricity around the world to save their de facto deity, affectionately personified as Gaia or Gaea, from the heresies of carbon, internal combustion engines and incandescent lighting.  Despite the fact that there are more than 1 billlion (with a B) baptized Catholics, and 2.1 billion “Christians” worldwide, and that more than 77% of Americans identify themselves as either Jewish or Christian, secular businesses are gradually growing green, supplanting Passover and Good Friday with the pagan-like politically correct “Earth Day” because of the threat of capitalist-killing environmentalist-wacko policies.

Citing a handful of enviromental laws, and the current Bolivian inspired U.N. insanity “”to end capitalism’ and realize ‘harmony with Mother Earth,’” eco-feminists in the Make-Believe Media urge formal recognition of “Mother” Earth as an entity entitled to human rights (never mind human rights for all humans?)  They employing liberals’ template racist imagery and femini-schtick language to personify nature as a victim enslaved by man.  They use terms like “mother,” give “her” a name, and advocate earth’s emancipation from human slavery in a “Declaration of Rights of Mother Earth.”

We’re talking about a chunck of rock with a molten metal core circling a star, folks.  People named the orbiting rock “earth” in the first place.  The earth is not alive.  It is a platform for life.

There is growing green shakedown out there, with local, national and international leaders revamping laws to make capitalism more difficult, taking away economic power from people to strengthen governmental control.  And money really does grow on trees if those trees are part of an Earth Day celebration.  My bank reminds me at its ATMs.  Even the family photo calendar I ordered from Walgreens came with “Earth Day” printed where Good Friday should have been!   My Staples day planner lists both titles side by side on the same line like co-star film billing.

Energy crisis. Obesity crisis. Climate crisis. Unemployment crisis. The solution came to me in a rerun.

What do high gas prices, global warming, high youth employment, and child obesity have in common? The lack of a government solution. I’ve found it.

The Lean Green Obamachine.

How to make it happen? Use the stretch marks on the Commerce Clause to ban those nasty, polluting cars from metropolitan areas. Through ObamaCare‘s student loan program, lucky college students get to work off their enormous debts – and dorm butts – by public service in the rickshaw ranks of the green governmental solution.

Plus, it adds new meaning to Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” program for obese kids. Public employee unions can get on board with Chicago-style student exercise programs – they could trot behind the college student carrying water and government issued nutrition in little green government issued backpacks.

This AmeriCorpse legion of environmental pedestrian patriots will finally learn to pull their weight and experience the joy of work in the Great Outdoors. As a bonus we get an overnight drop in noxious car emissions and traffic gridlock and noise. With lighter weight traffic on roads there will be fewer road repairs, freeing up still unspent shovel-ready TARP funds.

And Government Motors would probably love the opportunity to switch out one of their idle Chevy Volt production lines to manufacture the Obamashaw.

When it comes to the Make-Believe Media, some news is more equal than others. And it’s not just a numbers racket. So when do the numbers justify news coverage?

Six hundred people at a New York AIDS rally make the New York Times. Smaller crowds make news if the cause is liberally righteous enough, such as protesting NY City spending cuts. Predictably, 3,000 anti-war protestors whether in San Francisco or Bangladesh merit AP attention and become an international news headline for the BBC. A rally 5,000 strong protesting violent crime in New Orleans gets Google’s powerful press with multiple stories reported around the country. Ditto St. Louis where 5,000 gathered to protest violence. Indeed, just days ago, on March 24th, 2011, both MSNBC and Fox News circulated the AP’s report that 5,000 gathered at a pro-illegal immigrant rally in Atlanta, Georgia.

So it would seem 5,000 people doing anything vaguely political pretty much anywhere seems to be a magic news number, a politically critical mass worthy of coverage, right? Wrong. Consider two different events over the same weekend in the Los Angeles Area. Both drew over 5,000 registered marchers: One a “Labor” rally; the other a “Life” rally.

A U.S. President beset by angry mobs screaming “Yankee Imperialist Go Home”, exploding Molotov cocktails, rubber bullets, tear gas, riot police.

El Comandante Che Guevara

In 2007 the MSNBC headline screamed “Protests greet Bush upon arrival in Brazil” and The Guardian one-upped it with “Angry crowds hunt Bush as protests mark start of Latin America tour”.  Fast forward to 2011 as another U.S. President faces identical protests and riots.   Funny thing, though, this time there is absolute stone cold silence on these protests and riots from the New York Times, CNN, AP, YahooNews MSNBCThe Guardian, etc. (Politico to its credit reports it).

Sporting Che Guevera T-Shirts, radical leftist protestors “associated with the Socialist Workers Party, PSTU,” launched Molotov cocktails in front of the U.S. consulate to protest President Obama’s arrival in Rio. Military police fired rubber bullets at the crowd, using tear gas and billy clubs to chase away the violent, socialist and oh-so-intolerant protesters.   It seems the Left is never satisfied.  What’s a radical left-wing president to do?

What is most ironic about the Brazil protests is that the PSTU is a hard core socialist party in Brazil. While anti-Obama protests in the US consider Obama a socialist, the socialists in Brazil consider him a yankee capitalist, the bane of the Latin American left … PSTU says the protest is to bring “American imperialism” to the attention of the millions of Brazilians …

Hmmm.  Could this be why the President “cancelled a public speech he was scheduled to deliver Sunday” in an “historic plaza” in the “heart of Rio de Janeiro?”  Well, we may never know from most in the Make-Believe Media.  Yahoo News and New York Times are too busy breathlessly praising Obama as the guru of Hoops citing his so-far superb basketball bracket noting that even women’s hoopsters have attracted Obama’s laser-like focus, promoting my new moniker for our Bookie-In-Chief: “Bracket Hoops” Obama.

NPR can and will survive the firings of execs Ron and Vivian Schiller.   It can even survive Congressional “defunding.”   But NPR could never survive the loss of its tax-exempt status…and that is the issue implicated in James O’Keefe’s second undercover video in which NPR tells Muslim radical poseurs how to conceal donations from government audits.

The “star” of this second sting video is Betsy Liley, the Senior Director of Institutional Giving at NPR, who reported directly to the recently fired Ron Schiller, who himself starred in O’Keefe’s first NPR video laughing over lunch at Jews, whites, and racist Tea Partiers, and dismissively saying NPR doesn’t need public funding.  And he may be right.

Turns out roughly 2% of NPR’s funding comes from public coffers.  The real money comes from charitable donations to NPR and its public radio affiliates who rely on the NPR “brand” to attract charitable donors and then, in return, pay back to NPR the lion’s share of its operating budget.

So the real threat – the thermonuclear threat – posed by O’Keefe’s video may be the loss of NPR’s all-important tax exempt status.  Without tax-exempt status, NPR’s charitable donation well runs dry.

In O’Keefe’s latest video, Ms. Liley reassured the actor posing as a Muslim Brotherhood front group that NPR could legally accept the $5 million dollar gift anonymously to shield the group from government audits disclosing the donor’s identity.  On March 1, 2011, she confirmed this in writing via email, as you can see in the video.    (more…)

In a series of undercover videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s seeming complicity with pimps of underage girls, Planned Parenthood cleaned house.  It fired one manager and prominently announced nationwide “retraining.”

A few weeks ago I attended the Walk-for-Life in San Francisco, having volunteered to drive a large group of high school students to the event.  On arrival, I dropped them off near the rally kick-off point.  Having no prior experience, I assumed it would be easy enough to go park my car and rejoin my students (wearing bright red sweatshirts) later.  After all, I figured, there wouldn’t be that many people.  How wrong I was.  The crowd was enormous.

To find my group, I stood at a lamppost along the route, watching hundreds of people passing by.  After about 30 minutes I began to count.  The marchers – confined to the boundaries of a two lane street – walked at least twenty abreast with each line of marchers passing by my spot every two seconds.  I waited in that same spot for over 90 minutes after I began counting.  When I finally found my little band of students and joined in the walk, the crowd stretched out far behind me, still thick with humanity.  By my personal estimate, I believe there were 60,000 to 70,000 people there that day, quietly marching, holding signs, signing songs and saying prayers to protect human life.  But you wouldn’t have known it from the news coverage that day.

The Make-Believe Media grudgingly reported this annual event but in a manipulative and distorted manner.  The coverage focused its cameras tightly on one pro-life speaker at the rally before the walk began, showing only his face, never panning back to show the throngs around him.  Not even a five second clip of the endless waves of marchers walking the route that day.  And they absurdly underreported the number of marchers.

Lila Rose’s LiveAction.org has released the third video in the growing series of Planned Parenthood public relations nightmares. The just-released third video illustrates how staff at a Bronx PP facility in New York coached an undercover pimp and prostitute team in ways to obtain free abortions for under age immigrant sex slaves.

This writer and others at this site have already chronicled the media’s rush to aide PP in formulating defensive spin for the beleaguered tax-payer funded behemoth in the wake of the first two videos.

Just hours after the Bronx video’s release, Planned Parenthood announced its latest mea culpa: a nation wide “retraining” effort with promises to tighten discipline in what can only be characterized as a desperate public relations spin to retain its massive $300 million dollar annual taxpayer funding. So, by “retraining,” does PP mean “our clinics will stop conspiring with the child sex-slave industry?” Or does it mean “our clinics will be more alert to undercover journalists exposing their corruption?” Or does it mean “Oh, for Pete’s sake! You guys stop falling for that pimp sting, didn‘t you read the memos after the whole ACORN thing?!?”

In the journalistic blockbuster videos posted at Breitbart‘s Big Government and Big JournalismLive Action exposes Planned Parenthood’s apparent complicity in putative underage sex-slave rings in New Jersey and, most recently, Virginia.  And the Make-Believe Media has circled the wagons around Planned Parenthood with obfuscated timelines and strawman arguments attempting to salvage PP’s public reputation.

Tipped off to this impending public relations disaster, last week PP announced – and the MBM dutifully reported – a purported FBI investigation of this undercover sting, implying that PP had discovered and quickly reported this possible criminal ring of underage sex traders.   Even the AP’s all-important Orwellian title “Planned Parenthood Seeks FBI Probe” implies a valiant PP calling for an FBI investigation of these criminals who sought PP’s advice in trafficking child sex slaves.

Yet, the videos appear to show billion-dollar corporation Planned Parenthood conspiring with child-prostitution hustlers.  Damning stuff?  Provocative, at least?  Well, no, not to some elements of the MBM.

Over the weekend, creator of the Dilbert comic strip, Scott Adams, graced us troglodytes with his condescending wit in the Wall Street Journal with a piece entitled “How To Tax the Rich.”

Extolling the creative virtues employed by comedy writers to stimulate new story lines, Adams blithely suggested a myriad of “bad ideas” to tax the rich so that We The Lowly might come up with even more novel and “better” ways to soak those who already fund the public coffers to an inordinate degree (Adams has been pondering this for months, having written what amounts to an earlier draft on his blog).

He’ll reprise his WSJ gig next weekend to discuss those lucky few whose ideas amuse him.  Instead, Mr. Adams should retire from comedic political musing, return to his drawing board and stay there.
