Not only does Todd Gaziano (Congressional appointee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights) claim that the 2008 Election Day voter intimidation charge against the Philadelphia New Black Panther Party was“open and shut,” but that Deputy Assistant Attorney General Julie Fernandes ordered, “Never bring another lawsuit against a black or other national minority, apparently no matter what they do.”
Like the Van Jones story, the ACORN story, and the Charlie Bolden/Muslim outreach story, this is another example of stories the MSM doesn’t want you to know about. And why not?

I like that idea. It puts our reps within ear shout at a moment's notice. Hard to vote for the tax increase for your constituents when they're parked outside your office building letting you know how they feel. Also hard to hide meetings with lobbyist friends from the local news whom have more slightly more integrity than their national counterparts. Plus EVERYBODY had a phone camera now.

The racial tension being generated nowadays smells of a smokescreen, really. There are so many news bytes out there that seem tailor made to distract and divide us while we are being robbed blind by an uncaring, unfeeling, monolithic Fed.
We are on the verge of one of the largest tax increases on the general public to go in effect in decades, and all Congress has to do right now to enact this travesty is wait until Jan 1st, 2011; that's when it hits, and the "Bush tax cuts" expire. If left unchecked, rates will rise on most everyone until they are roughly double what they are on a good portion of actual taxpayers by 2014. And, wait for it, NONE of this extra tax money will be used to pay down our massive national debt. Instead, it will be used to fund new entitlements and prop up existing ones just a bit more.
Married? Taxed more than your nerves are by those little annoying habits your spouse indulges in. Death Tax? It's rising from the grave. Capital Gains? Capitally gone.
John McCain held a lot of the same views just in a softer form than BO. Had we elected McCain, things would not be so radicalized, but the Congress would still be controlled by Dems and McCain and Reps would be taking the blame for everything they weren't allowed to do much like the Bush years. We would still have seen unpopular policies like Cap and Tax and Amnesty and Stimulus and there would have been no opposition because McCain works across the aisle and so would all the Republicans. Instead of the swift fall off a cliff, we'd be on a gentle march downhill. People don't notice the danger in the second, but they sure as heck notice the first.
America is waking up; I just hope it's not too late.

This evening, while doing research, viewing and downloading video on Julie Fernandes – I witnessed the "scrubbing" of the Internet. A video had a link in google, when I clicked on it several minutes later, youtube said it had been removed by user and then sent me back to google, where I watched the link disappear. Somebody is running scared.
That depends on what you consider conservative, I'd say.
For example, McCain's promise to oppose earmark spending should be considered basic boilerplate for ANY conservative candidate.

Obama's cronies may well feel invulnerable under the current setup. Perhaps, in the short term. But how quickly they forget that all the civil rights legislation that transformed this country after WW II was enacted, not by minorities, but by a substantial majority of the country, which strongly believed in 'equal justice before the law'. That majority still exists (though it isn't well represented in university and media circles), and still believes in equal justice. This story will not go away, nor will those believers in equal justice. Those who stray too far from the 'equal justice' concept will shortly find themselves being held to account, by judges at least as righteous as Mr. Gaziano.

Yes, start to lose faith in it. Desipte the obvious radicalism of the admin and Congress, there are a lot of people in this country who still think we are a country of laws. If you are paying attention as many here are, then we know how much that is not true, but the average joe on the street is still in a position to be naively believing that the law is on their side impartially.
The policies and ideals aren't best either way, but McCain was the guy content to turn the water up to a boil slowly so no one would notice until we were cooked. Obama just cranked that heat up to high and the people are leaping out of that water right and left.

Who's to say that your red state conservatism is really conservatism any more than anyone is to say that John McCain isn't a conservative?
Surely conservatism doesn't begin and end with energy policy, or with immigration policy.
Nor does conservatism actually demand hardline stances on the latter.
Speaking as a Canadian conservatism who has a wealth of experience confronting progressivism in its most dangerous and pervasive form, I can tell you that progressivism actually does have SOME value.
The DANGER of progressivism is that it attempts to establish itself as an embedded ideology of an embedded state.
The Canadian example demonstrates how it does this — by finding ways to sneak public funds in support of particular championed causes.
In Canada, progressives did this through funding distributed by the Secretary of State (it's not the same office as in the United States, where SoS is in charge of things such as foreign policy. In Canada, the Secretary of State is basically a funding arm). Through the Secretary of State, progressive governments in Canada funded (and in some cases even established) NGOs, and did so on an ideologically preferential basis.
As a case in point, the government of Canada has routinely funded pro-abortion groups, but would never extend the same funding to anti-abortion groups.
At this point, I'm going to take some time out to praise the founders of the USA for not instituting any state agency with virtually unrestrained and unchecked spending powers.
In Canada, the Secretary of State has such spending powers. The rot has sunk so deep that state NGOs such as Rights and Democracy (and by the way, if you were to suggest that "state NGO" is a contradiction, I'd agree with you. Somehow the Canadian government does not.) function without any significant level of government supervision. When government (who funds the organization) gets involved in overseeing the organization, the left wing screams that it's "political interference".
However, I'll point out that the United States has provided progressives with one tool by which they can instituionalize themselves: that is earmark spending, which John McCain has famously and rightly opposed.
Certainly, earmark spending has been abused by many so-called conservatives as much as it has been by progressives and liberals. But there's a difference between a one-time expenditure earmarked by a so-called conservative and a sustained series of earmarks in favour of a particular cause, as a progressive would attempt.
Is John McCain a progressive? If anything, he's a progressive conservative — the kind of man who will adopt positive progressive initiatives, but allow his conservative views to pump the brakes, so to speak.
I would argue that's exactly what's happened over the last two years in regard to McCain's approach to immigration policy. His approach was once suited to the reality on the ground, but that is no longer the case. He changed his position to reflect those changing realities.
By the way, I don't envy Americans having to confront the ugly reality of the current situation, but we've had similar problems in Canada for years — government attempting to approach these issues in order to solve potentially-cataclysmic problems, while radical left-wing groups scream bloody murder in the media.
(Which is, by the way, a reminder of what your REAL problem is.)
If you want to think RINO's and Constitutional Conservatives are the same, that is your prerogative.

I no conspiracy theorist but I would be willing to bet money on this being that golden opportunity for our man/boy-in-chief to see that racial “war” he so desperately desires that would open the gates to a police state. Refusal to adhere to border security, suing states trying to protect themselves while blind-eyeing sanctuary cities, turning the DOJ into the Department of IN-Justice, tweaking racial divides. These new black “pussies” are simply another dingleberry on the ass of Obama’s “new”America.
As much as many of us here, (except the “village idiots, aka: trolls) consider the opportunity for these NB pussies to “make our day”, it’s highly important to keep November in focus as one’s “calm” to prevent any negative reactions that would encourage governmental intervention of a large scale. I am no longer a McCain fan either, and would like to see him retire. But my other coice is JD Hayworth. Not sure he'll be any better. Would it be best to keep McCain oonly for his seniority?
If the Dems and their operatives steal the next election, WHAT are you prepared to do? Will you put bluster into decisive action? Realize that the Dems and their maggotry, like Shabazz, rely upon the desire of most people to keep the peace and to try to find a reasonable solution to differences in view. These folks don't think that way.
They think like Al Qaeda or Iran. They'll make you be considerate, they'll make give ground, they'll make you turn the other cheek, they'll have a "discusion" with you, all the while stepping closer to you in your strike zone. They'll hit first, because you don't believe they will. If you are against the notion of pre-emptive strikes, you are especially prone to being personally destroyed by these vermin.
There's Free Speech, and then there's open talk of death and destruction dressed as Free Speech. Shabazz and others use the latter. The Administration is feeding these tumors by dollars, and intelligence, and cover.
