Andrew Breitbart’s recent smackdown of Max Blumenthal at CPAC (for his vicious smears against James O’Keefe) serves as a reminder to us all that when Liberal “journalists” attack, they have one goal – and it isn’t reporting the truth. It is to win at any cost no matter what the damage is to the victim. It is called the politics of personal destruction and it reflects the utter nihilism of Liberalism.
The tactic has been used repeatedly by the left (see Sarah Palin), but is particularly disturbing when used as a cudgel to destroy decent, hard-working Americans. One such decent, hardworking (and extremely patriotic) American is Barrett Moore, founder of Triple Canopy.

I met Barrett a couple of years ago in Chicago at a luncheon for Navy SEAL, Marcus Luttrell author of the bestselling novel, Lone Survivor and boy do the Liberals hate him.
As I mentioned, Moore was the founder of Triple Canopy, one of America’s first private military companies (or PMC) and under his stewardship, he assembled one of this nation’s most impressive fighting forces – most of whom were retired members of the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D) (Delta Force) – and sent them overseas to help carry our burden in Iraq. What’s more, he did it at a fraction of the cost and much more efficiently than the American government ever could. That’s private enterprise for you, but because his private enterprise involved guns, the Liberals focused on him like a laser beam.
Their attacks would come not only while he was at Triple Canopy, but even more devastatingly once he had been forced out.
While at Triple Canopy, detractors from the left weren’t the only problem Barrett had to deal with. He also had a handful of business partners eager to carve out bigger and juicier government contracts. For that to happen, Triple Canopy would have to move from their fifty-yard-line seats up into a skybox. In the world of Department of Defense contracts, the big players are those who did $1 billion or more with DOD annually. At the time, Triple Canopy was in the hundreds of millions of dollars range. This was a very respectable number to be sure, but it wouldn’t put them in the Defense Department’s inner circle. To get to the $1 billion level, they needed to find a way to bring in even more contracts. It was at this moment that Triple Canopy was made an offer that only Barrett Moore could have refused.
The Central Intelligence Agency introduced Barrett and Triple Canopy to a wealthy organization that provides the CIA with much of its innovative technology and technical services. It was a match made in heaven, or so everyone thought; everyone that is, except for Barrett.

After retiring from careers of distinguished service, the nation’s best soldiers, sailors, and Marines were beating a path to Triple Canopy’s door. This couldn’t have made the CIA very happy; after all they draw from this talent pool as well. But given the choice between working at a private sector corporation with a reputation like Triple Canopy’s or going to work for a bureaucratic monstrosity like the CIA, the choice wasn’t hard for our country’s elite operators. Time and again they chose Triple Canopy.
Ironically, when Triple Canopy had first arrived on the scene in Iraq, it had taken up residence in one of Saddam’s former palaces with the CIA literally in the palace to the left of it and the Army’s elite Delta Force Squadrons in a palace to the right. It was an uncanny metaphor for what Barrett believed was driving the CIA’s suggested merger/buyout of his company.
His reluctance to go along with the plan stemmed from several concerns, not the least of which being his devotion to the operators that formed the backbone of his company. In short, he had no interest in becoming the paramilitary arm of a technology organization that took its marching orders from the Central Intelligence Agency. You see, Barrett had created Triple Canopy to be a place where operators could still honorably serve their country alongside the same caliber of soldiers they had worked with in the Special Operations community. He’d be damned before he would sell those men out.
Barrett’s partners, though, saw things differently. They didn’t mind if the CIA wanted access to Triple Canopy’s talent, as long as the merger would result in big payouts. This put the partners and Barrett at loggerheads and their eventual uncoupling was an unpleasant and ugly affair.
After a protracted legal battle, Barrett was forced out as the founding CEO and largest shareholder, but with a sizable settlement from Triple Canopy (whose remaining partners ironically never did succeed in selling the company despite repeated attempts).
With Barrett Moore retired from the PMC world, the Liberals no longer had him to demonize anymore – at least not until he came roaring back with a new concept and a brand new company. His idea was so offensive and so horrific to Liberals that the George Soros/SEIU funded Center for Independent Media (now re-branded as The American Independent News Network) not only went after the concept, but after Barrett as well. After all, if you can’t attack the message, attack the messenger.

So what was this Liberal bête noir? Its bite hardly seems worth the Leftists’ bark. You see, Barrett actually had the temerity to suggest that people be self-reliant. He had the unmitigated gall to intimate that in times of disaster (natural or “man-made”) that the big government nanny state might not be there for you.
This audacious man wanted people to move beyond their ingrained experiences that stores are always open and their shelves are always full – what Barrett calls the “7-Eleven” effect. There is a genuine need to change this mentality and have people consider what they would do if our just-in-time delivery system was disrupted and grocery stores and pharmacies were unable to restock.
He wanted people to learn to become self-sufficient and not rely upon the government for help in an emergency. He had even invested $20 million of his own money to master the private disaster response arena and become an expert in all aspects of preparedness. How dare he! How dare this rapscallion throw up speed bumps along the road to Socialism! Obviously, this man didn’t know how evil his message of self-empowerment was. Something needed to be done. Somehow, Moore needed to be taught a lesson once and for all. Enter the progressive advocacy communication web site Michigan Messenger and their related radical blogs.
In a series of hit pieces, the Michigan Messenger went after Barrett Moore in every way it could. It started by attacking the overall purpose of his business – helping people prepare for the unexpected.
![]()
Moore’s company, appropriately named Sovereign Deed, offers a wide range of products and services, all geared toward continuity of life; a mandate our government long ago abandoned, but which Liberals believe is still its sole purview.
Whether it’s helping you stock the appropriate type and amount of provisions for you and your family in case of a supply-chain disruption, assembling a high-end bug-out-bag, subscribing to updates from their global analysis center, or developing post-event contingency plans, Sovereign Deed is all about helping people survive situations all of us hope never happen.
But being self-reliant threatens the Liberals’ vision of dependence upon a glorious, utopia-promising big government, so they attacked Sovereign Deed as being nothing more than salvation for the rich. In their twisted view of the world, private sector businesses should simply give their services away. If the truth be told, Sovereign Deed has actually done just that. After the earthquake in Haiti, Moore and his company donated over 200+ metric tons of relief supplies (310 pallets) including food, medicine, medical equipment, tools, shelter and children’s toys with no fanfare whatsoever.
When the Michigan Messenger’s ridiculous, anti-private sector message failed to gain traction, they moved to the next page in the Liberal playbook and attacked Moore personally.
At DePauw University, Moore nearly single-handedly revived the university’s Army ROTC program (which had been driven off the campus by liberals in the 1970s) and simultaneously joined the US Army Reserves; working with a military intelligence unit based at Eli Lilly’s Indianapolis laboratory facilities where it focused on the Soviet bioweapons program. A highly intelligent, physically fit, patriotic young man, Moore was on the radar screens of many prominent government agencies.
After graduation, Moore disappeared for seven months of “additional training” before turning up in Australia – a covert hotspot for illicit weapons trafficking. Within a short time, Moore had “amazingly” established an exotic car import business (bringing Porsches in from the United States and Europe), which allowed him to infiltrate a major organized crime ring affiliated with the Russians. But a perfect James Bond plot this wasn’t.
Whether it was via the Russians from on high, or via members of the crime syndicate Moore was mapping, it became suspected that he wasn’t who they thought he was and they attempted to assassinate him and send a message to the US. Moore, survived the attack and has the bullet wound to show for it.
When the plot to assassinate him failed, corrupt Australian law enforcement officers (tied to the organization Moore had been working to infiltrate), created a sophisticated plan to frame him. By the time the High Court of Australia (their Supreme Court), had officially and fully exonerated him, Moore had spent forty-three days in a maximum-security Australian prison.

All of this became fodder in the Soros-backed Michigan Messenger’s attempt to discredit Moore and prevent him from locating Sovereign Deed’s supply distribution nerve center in a small northern Michigan community suffering in tough economic times. Such is the nihilism of Liberals that they’d rather attack Moore, than see his business provide much-needed jobs in a community all too happy to have him there.
In its final attempt to smear Moore, the Liberals (many of whom have probably never had a real job, much less created jobs for others) lumped him in with a host of other “evil” men like Thomas Jefferson, Mark Twain, Henry Heinz (of Heinz Ketchup fame), Milton Hershey (of Hershey’s Chocolate fame), Henry Ford, Mickey Rooney, Johnny Unitas, Wayne Newton, Walt Disney, Larry King, and Donald Trump; all because at one point in his long and successful career as a businessman, Moore had filed for personal bankruptcy when a Taiwanese manufacturing company had falsified insurance documents on a factory in which millions of dollars of his inventory had been destroyed. By falling on his sword, Moore not only saved his business and the jobs of his employees, but he was able to build the business back up and eventually sell it. That business is still alive and well today. But that’s not the story you’ll read in the Soros/SEIU funded Michigan Messenger.
With the power of the Internet, the Michigan Messenger screeds against Barrett Moore and his noble efforts at Sovereign Deed, pop up to the top of any search prospective clients conduct. Those articles have tarnished a good man.
Barrett Moore’s reputation and good name have been besmirched and that’s wrong. It is important for me that the record be set straight and that the facts win out. What’s more, it’s important that the dangers of Leftist advocacy journalism as practiced by the Michigan Messenger and other Liberal “news” outlets of its ilk, be brought to everyone’s attention. Today, it’s Barrett Moore and Sovereign Deed, but we all need to ask ourselves: who will it be tomorrow? Me? You?
When the going gets tough, the Liberals all pull together on behalf of their team, but conservatives too often pull apart. It’s time we took care of our own – especially when it comes to the life and business-destroying, “just-the-fiction-ma’am” assassinations the Left so revels in and so thinly veils as “journalism.”
So how do we do that? How do we begin to take care of our own? We begin by calling these people out and exposing their lies just as Andrew Breitbart did with Max Blumenthal at CPAC. Simply put, we no longer roll over. We set the record straight and we commit right now to back each other up every time a Liberal journalist attacks. Believe me, Barrett Moore wasn’t the first and he definitely won’t be the last, but working together we will dull the impact of these attacks and eventually drown them out all together.

Excellent article! Thank you.
"Simply put, we no longer roll over. We set the record straight and we commit right now to back each other up every time a Liberal journalist attacks."
It is time to close ranks, and take the fight to them. Especially now that they are reeling and off balance.
In the battle with the vicious, dishonest left, the good guy does not always win. But if we stick together and expose their evil where ever we find it, support each other, then we have a shootin' chance! Great article, Moore is a hero!
I have always been opposed to Private Military Companies, which used to be called Mercenaries. As this article amply shows, no matter how honorable the founding members are, they will be replaced with people who are just in it for the money. Blackwater caused huge PR issues for the U.S. in Iraq and the world.
This article does indirectly point out why some many conservatives have trouble supporting the Republican Party. They haven't taken care of our troops in a personal sense nor have they provided them with the best weapons.
Reading the rivalry between Moore and the SEIU made me think of Katrina and the local ACORN and government-handout affiliates chasing off all the private charities for "being in their territory." Government – we're here to help – just not who you think.
Barrett Moore is a deadly enemy of the nanny state.
Pride, individual responsibility, patriotism, entrepreneurship, dedication, success … to these progressive statists, what's not to hate.
Say Randy.
Do you reckon Gary Graham will be headed to Chile for a recon mission?
If Moore had remained at Triple Canopy, the company would have been able to keep more of its CAG Operators and the PMC industry would look different today. Unfortunately the place was never the same once Katis, Mann and Peters stole the reins. It was sickening to watch their machinations as they undermined a good and loyal man who put his heart and soul into building that company.
The way the legacy media attack people is downright disgusting. They can destroy someone's life and show absolutely no remorse whatsoever. I think they are among the worse examples of humanity and I am -very- glad people like Andrew and others are starting to stand up to it.
Oh and…. OMG Brad Thor!!!!! One of my favorite authors!! (Sorry, had to do it.
)
it is definitely time to close ranks. it is high time we conservatives start boycotting liberal media outlets and their sponsors…let other companies that think and respond to the world as we do fill the gaps and provide us with our news. please invite your independent friends to do the same.when the two largest voting blocks also vote with their wallets the outcome for liberalism in our country becomes clear(40% of the US population considers themselves conservative and 40 % consider themselves independent. with 4%undecided that leaves just 16%of us who are libtards). if we defund them they go away it is just that simple in a capitalist society.
I'm a huge fan of this website and all for what DB and the others are doing here, but in the interest of fairness, what is the difference between liberal advocacy journalism and conservative advocacy journalism?
Great article! Hats off to Mr. Moore.
I would LOVE A LIST of american hating companies that care more about promoting an agenda rather than selling goods.
I always wondered about the State Department's contract with Blackwater. I have no information but I wondered if the State Department hired Blackwater because Blackwater was not bound by the rules of engagement that the US military had to follow.
Answer: The politics of personal destruction – ask Sarah Palin, if you don't believe me.
Barrett Moore for Congress… !
…and Brad Thor for President !
Truth!
And this is why the liberal media as well as democrats are in the tank, as reflected by the ratings and poll numbers, respectively. Attacks on Sarah are attacks on the disabled and the unborn. While democrats shudder November, the liberal media is in crisis with the layoffs and the downsizing. They both ought to consider whether what goes around, comes around and bites them in the arse.
This is a damn fine article, Thor. This is exactly the kind of news that needs to be brought to light: articles that enforce the idea of checks and balances, which in this case smacks the living crap of liberal journalists. I hope you and other like-minded individuals continue to get in these peoples' faces until they can no longer wrap the truth in a box of deceit with of a bow of political correctness.
These people will get away with this no longer.
Recall, if you will, US Constitution, Article 1, Section 8 (Powers of Congress), paragraph 11 "To declare War, grant Letters of marque and Reprisal, and makes rules concerning captures on Land and Water ." The use of this power was once globally acceptable under international law, and commonplace, as the US didn't have the military capability to police all it's interests, it hired contractors. I think we should hire them to find Bin Laden and pay them a $500 million bonus of they do…would still be much cheaper than the US Army.
You mean re-con?
Glad the cavalry is here. Seems like I've been fighting the liberal media alone for a long time. The "Can You Hear Us Now" concept was a good idea and still is: have a rally at your local liberal media outlets and let them know we are going to hold them accountable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsjKRUwxLSE&fe...

Pay them a "visit."
So long as the list doesn't come from inside the government. We had one of those during the red scare and it's no coincidence that hollywood and journalism has been overly liberal ever since.
As a liberal, (yes i admit it) i have a hard time believing that an attack on sarah palin is an attack on the disabled and unborn. Granted the whole family guy thing and similar criticism are D-bag moves, the second you start to protect her in such a fashion is the second you start to shield her from any judgement at all. No politician including palin AND obama should ever reach such protected status.
Good artical Brad. The root of the issue is Soros. We need to have him removed like a cancerous tumor.
How powerful is Obama’s propaganda machine? There are now more than FIFTY facebook groups created based solely on their HATE for Jim Bunning. What the Hell is that? He might as well be Jewish under Hitler!
Speaking of 'Journalists'…
Will Karma ever catch up with that relic, Soros?
The facts…we use them- they distort them.
Hear hear! (spelled it right this time…???) With money getting tight, it's easier than ever to avoid crap like "Avatar", resist buying a tv, and so on. But I also extend my beliefs into choices such as what I look at online, products I buy, places I shop, people I deal with, etc. etc. And whenever possible I calmly explain to people why/why not I'll do business with or boycott folks. It's especially rewarding when I get to talk to a business owner face to face about this. I certainly want to encourage the ones who are doing things right, and let them know how to keep my business!
The left likes to give it – but they can’t take it. In a nutshell, they’re like the schoolyard bully. Together we can stand up to him (or her in Ms Couric’s case).
Everybody dies, some just not soon enough…
Barrett Moore = HERO
Brad Thor = Patriot
Liberal/Marxist Media = Less than pond scum
More stories like this, please!
SMEARS are not SMEARS when they're true:
"Barrett Moore, founder of a private disaster response firm seeking tax breaks to establish operations in northern Michigan, has acknowledged for the first time that he lied about his military service and was once convicted of criminal fraud in Australia."
Get your facts straight, he was exonerated by Australian Supreme Court after being framed by dirty cops who were subsequently removed from the NSW Police Force and then jailed for their criminal activities.
Brad – I've read every on of your books and eagerly await the the next. Barret Moore seems like the kind of man I'd like at my six.
Excellence! well thought out and well worded. Keep up the good work Brad. And yes, I agree, we do need to be more informed about all things Military and all things we need to keep America safe.
This article is fascinating, and not just because of the liberal smear tactics used. What a patriotic man Mr. Moore is.
You know, the leaders of my religion encourage each of us to have a year's supply of food and emergency supplies stockpiled for each member of our family for just such an emergency. We're also encouraged to grow a vegetable garden. It's good advice, because you never know what's going to happen. This SovereignDeeds company sounds like it'd be a good place to start looking into.
Warning to the media, new and old alike, those that have joined the media contrived "stop-the-birthers" movement will be tarred and feathered in the public square. Entire careers will go down. This is a ticking time-bomb. One million people per day average on a range of web-sites that communicate information relating to Obama and his resistance to releasing any factual information about his life before January 21, 2009. That movement is growing rapidly, word of mouth is far more powerful than the efforts of the media.
If the PMO that I work for had that mission, we'd have to hold a lottery to pick the operators Some of us would do it gratis.
Not soon enough.
Barrett Moore. I won't forget.
EXCELLENT article from one of my all time favorite authors……Thank you Brad Thor for this and all the fantastic books you pen…..
Powerful cartoon about media bias against Sarah at http://drawfortruth.wordpress.com/category/media-...
The problem is Liberal Journalists attack all the time. I cant go to a news site (including Breitbart) without reading some kind of attack or leftist agenda disguised as news.
however I do make it a point to respond to at least one a day.
Something very similar happened to one of the gents at HillBuzz. They're in the middle of a couple lawsuits against the people who launched the smear campaign, based on defamation, slander and inciting others towards violence.
The groundwork they've laid could easily be used to help protect those who've been attacked like this as well.
Even George Soros will eventually run out of money, if he's hit with enough lawsuits.
There aren't ANY "journalists" that tell the truth. They are as honor less and truth impaired as politicians.
Great wordplay!
Michigan Messenger is a disgrace and a national embarrassment. These harbingers of hatred are a lower form of life than child molesters and should be treated as such. An electronic (internet) form of "jail house justice" is an appropriate reaction. Someone more tech savvy maybe can enlighten us on what it would take to get negative search engine hits to appear when people search for their site or information on their organization. Then, we launch a quick and focused campaign to spread the news among our many networks regarding the target and the technique to get it done. These Socialists should be made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in this Country. There is no reason why these loathsome scumbags should get a free pass.
Outstanding article. It really is getting old hearing about "Americans" trying to destroy individualism and self reliance.
It makes my head hurt.
"Andrew Breitbart’s recent smackdown of Max Blumenthal at CPAC"…
You must be using a different scoring system. I thought the shouty guy who looked like a raging cokehead struggling to form a sentence was the loser. Didn't he promise to destroy institutional media sometime this week?
But I gotta ask, what motivates a person to spontaneously infiltrate a Australian crime ring?
Sounds like he could do action movie special advisor-ing any time he was short on cash. Or better yet action-adventure training school reality show.
Wow, that's definitive proof alright!!! It's no wonder why your ideology is a massive failure. That stuff might work on the Fluffington Post, but not here. It's thundering intellectuals like yourself that makes me wonder how you socialists fooled the majority of the Country in the last presidential election. That explains why you think you can sell any steaming pile of horse crap to anyone at anytime. Time for you to scurry back into the shadows.
The direction of the wind.
What stops you from making your own list, tiger? Need someone to tell you who to hate?
Screw that! Hate 'em all!
OMG! Conservative bloggers accused of slander, defamation and inciting violence?! Say it ain't so!
Good luck with the "Just repeating what we heard on Fox News" defense!
Brilliant article! Stories like that of Barrett Moore have gone untold for too long. Thank you for shining light on it; keep up the good fight. And God Bless & Godspeed to Mr. Moore. I am going over to his website as soon as I am done here.
The biggest problem with liberals is they look at all other viewpoints with condescending and patronizing arrogance whether they have all the facts or not. They exhalt themselves to high levels of intellectual brilliance and assume they're smarterer than everyone else just because they say so, without actually proving it in any way.
THEY think their own intellect and judgement is far superior than anyone else just because they say so, and if the facts turn out to prove them WRONG, they simply ignore the truth or deflect attention to a completely different subject altogether.
Give as good as you get, no more leftist character assassinations…left unanswered.
The difference between Hell and Heaven.
(Note possible exaggeration, but only slightly)
This article is fascinating, and not just because of the liberal smear tactics used. What a patriotic man Mr. Moore is.

During the Vietnam era the left refered to the military as baby killers. They would show up at induction centers and scream at the recruits as the embarked for boot camp. The public reacted negatively to this particular application of Alinsky Tactics. Leftists learned their lesson and to this day will not directly criticize the military. It is open season however on military contractors, especially PMC's. That the leftist filth hate private operators is understandable. Private operators killed too may terrotists and spoiled the leftist plans for defeat in Iraq. The culture that produced Delta Force guys and the culture that produced the dweebs at Media Matters could not be futher apart. One emphasizes honor & the othe emphasizes spin and character assassination. The filth at Michigan Messenger do not compare favorably with Delta or anybody in the military. Superior culture produces superior people.
I guess all of you think it's great that the US outsources murder and torture to corporate mercenaries like Triple Canopy and Blackwater/Ze etc. Moore like Erik Prince love the funding since there is no accountability and plenty of deniability. The greed of these millionares is what is sick about the US. I bet you same idiots complain about job out sourcing to other countries but have no problems with our military and intelligence sources being out sourced to corporate bidders. Look at the reports on how Triple Canopy, Halliburton, Blackwater and others have ripped off the government, taxpayers and made our servicemen less safe all in the name of greed. May Moore hopefully find his way to hell in the near future.
How wrong you are. It costs DOD approx. $ 1million per year, per soldier or Marine to support them in an austere environment like Afghanistan, it costs a fraction of that to hire a PMC to support the same person there.
people of Michigan, send the Michigan Messenger to the dustbin of history, and its marxist employees to the unemployment lines. don't read it, don't buy it, don't advertise in it. Don't let your friends read this piece of s***
Great post! And I want the T-shirt (SEIU Warning)!
How can you defend mercenaries like this traitor? They're paid TEN TIMES what our soldiers make. Soldiers of fortune are inhuman scum.
How wrong you are. It costs DOD approx. $ 1million per year, per soldier or Marine to support them in an austere environment like Afghanistan, it costs a fraction of that for a PMC to support a contractor to do a similar job.
Hey Soothsayer – spend some time studying a little history, educate yourself and learn how the military and contracting world works…

As a member of a military family with one member now on active duty in Afghanistan, and as a conservative, religious member of the tea party movement, pro-life and pro-second amendment voter and above all, critical thinker, I ask you: DID THOR UNDERTAKE A VERY SIMPLE, INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION OF THE FALSEHOOD OF MOORE'S MILITARY SERVICE? IT IS QUITE SIMPLE. And it costs less than $6. If Thor and Breitbart, as the future of "conservative" journalism are so willing to dishonor real officers and enlisted men by praising a fraud without one shred of independent evidence that he actually served, then God help us. Facts are facts whether a liberal rag spouts them or a conservative fool ignores them.

HOW WRONG YOU ARE. I was one of the first ten employees at Triple Canopy and served there from the summer of 2003 through 2005. You have no idea what you are talking about.
Few understand that they cleverly conspired to steal the company from Moore and it was never the same afterwards – case in point being the contractor treadmill that "TC" has become today. Please be sure to read the legal filings carefully and you will see that "TC" tried to void their shareholder agreement so they could presumably shaft the rest of their outside shareholders. Incidentally the Court sided with Moore and the other shareholders after hearing all the evidence.
Moore has once again duped another unsuspecting and unwitting accomplice in perpetuating this fraud. Mr. Thor, after peeling this onion back, you will see the real reasons for all that Moore has claimed.
Here is one example: Moore claimed he didn't want to "merge" with the CIA? How about this for an explanation for that scenario – he couldn't pass the background check the CIA demands of the officers of all companies with which they do business. So Moore "flipped them off" thereby attempting to sabotage any chance at the contract rather than his background be exposed. The two other 3C co-owners, acting as responsible business people, can him for what he is – a fraud and a thief. Moore then puts 3C in a "choke-hold" until they cough-up 1/3 of the $18mm DoS contract they just landed. He does this by cutting communications from 3C HQ to their operators in the field akin to what happened in the book/movie "Clear and Present Danger". Maybe he is able to do this because the communications accounts (SATCOM, email, etc…) were in his name and his wife's name rather than 3C's.
Again, Mr. Thor, have the courage to reclaim your good name. Do the research. Hire a private investigator if you have to. But for your sake, GET TO THE TRUTH!
Furthermore Kevin, in response to your reply, every PMC today is a contractor treadmill for two reasons – the individual contractor looking for the biggest pay and the PMC looking for the cheapest contractor. If you think that running a for profit business is not what businesses should do, you definitely meet the employment criteria as an economic advisor to Messieurs Castro, Chavez or Obama.
I have read the legal filings in the 3C case very carefully and understood what they were – legal filings, not decisions. The court did not side with Moore or 3C – the matter was settled for an undisclosed amount (see "choke hold" comment above).
Mr. Moore could end all the speculation by posting a non-redacted discharge certificate from the Army AS WELL AS the alleged reversal of the Australian Court which found he committed fraud and had him locked up, AS WELL AS his testimony in his Chicago trial where he admitted to the Australian fraud. . .no use speculating when all the documents are in Mr. Moore's knowledge and control. Or maybe Mr. Moore is the victim of a vast left-wing conspiracy. . . . .and then there's that alleged "bullet wound". . . .
Unfortunately, Brad Thor, a great American and wonderful author, has been added to the very long list of honest, moral people that have been duped by this conman. I believe that everyone has the right to a "do over" including Moore. However, he must come clean. He must man-up, own-up to and stop all his lies, cheating and deceptive business practices and then ask for forgiveness from all those he has harmed. Until he does, this crap will continue to haunt him and his family. God knows every hair on you head and what is in your heart Mr. Moore. You may be able to fool these people but you can't fool Him. Save your soul and come clean before you do more harm to yourself and those closest to you.

You claim to have “read the legal filings in the 3C case very carefully….” Well in that case, you must be familiar with the 12 page Opinion and Order authored by Hon, Patrick E. McGann on May 12, 2005 in the Circuit Court of Cook Country IL Case No. CH 19999 where he states on page 12:
“A. That a Preliminary Injunction shall issue prohibiting Triple Canopy, Inc. its officers, directors, agents, or attorneys from taking any further action to complete the Confidential Private Exchange Offer, dated January 12, 2005 or any other actions which would threaten the rights of Barrett Moore under the Shareholder Agreement referenced above. Said Injunction shall remain in force and effect until dissolved by this Court.”
Bottom line, you have no idea what you are talking about do you? Oh, and by the way, the $18mm DoS contract you refer to in your fanciful “choke-hold” version of events was a $358mm contract award from the CPA (DoD) and it was granted under a $500mm BPA published in October 2003, and awarded to Blackwater and Triple Canopy in February 2004. All of this information is in the public realm for those that want the truth.
"Jimmy" – in respect to your diatribes, be very careful about what you say because even the progressive advocacy communications web site Michigan Messenger was careful to explain in their articles that Moore was fully exonerated by the Australian Supreme Court. You ought to familiarize yourself with the term "libel".

I read the ruling from Judge Mark Filip of the US District Court of Northern Illinois dated 7-01-05 (almost two months after the ruling you cited). This document can be found athttp://www.thelenreid.com/resources/documents/Tri... I am not a lawyer but after looking at this ruling, it seems that the injunctive relief granted two months earlier didn't hold in federal court. Of the thirteen motions filed, Mr. Moore was named in all of them, his wife in seven and their "company" (Triple Canopy Group) was named in ten.

However, Triple Canopy is old news…How has Mr. Moore done with his new endeavor, Sovereign Deed? Has he managed to stay out of court? Does he have "glowing" reviews from his vendors? I think not. (example, Louis M. Gerson Company, Inc. v. Sovereign Deed (http://dockets.justia.com/docket/court-ilndce/cas...
Where there is smoke, there is fire. A little research at the county court house(s) where Sovereign Deed is located may reveal that there are other vendors that had to take him to court to get paid and quite possibly ex-employees who were waiting on wages having to do the same. If he doesn't pay his bills and doesn't pay his (ex)employees, will he be there when "disaster hits"? If he hasn't paid his bills, with "what" and with "who" will he get the job done with?

You don’t know when to quit do you? It is interesting to see that your give yourself a “+1” comment note on your own posting and a “-1” on mine. Does that make you feel better?
I made two calls after reading your last missive so that I could familiarize myself with some the matters you discuss. It is quite interesting how you twist the facts to support your agenda. You stated: “I am not a lawyer but after looking at this ruling, it seems that the injunctive relief granted two months earlier didn't hold in federal court.” Here is the bottom line, the Triple Canopy litigation was fought in four different forums to include Arbitration. The matter was settled amicably and it is well articulated from a variety of sources that Triple Canopy’s management was the bad actor in this fight and they wrote the checks in the end. (Incidentally, I was at Triple Canopy for most of that battle).
In respect to Sovereign Deed, I can’t comment to the same degree however I would note for your benefit that: 1) it is very hard to start a company, especially in a new market space; 2) it is well known that Sovereign Deed lost some of their funding when a significant outside investor died; 3) the country has been suffering through a traumatic financial crisis with some of the biggest corporations going out of business; 4) there is hardly a corporation in American that does not have to defend itself once in while in court; and 5) the court case you site in your diatribe names 4 parties including someone named “Brent Hamachek” but there is no mention of Moore. Gee whiz, I bet there is whole lot more to that story then we know, yet you go out of your way to try to tarnish Barrett Moore.
In conclusion, I don’t know what your problem is, however let me say that after having been fortunate enough to be part of two start up companies, including Triple Canopy, it is tumultuous and difficult process that takes fortitude and hard work from a big team of people; sometimes mistakes are part of the process. And, once you have started as many companies that Moore has, why don’t you comment then because in the interim you are just another member of the chattering class that contributes nothing to the nation’s GDP.
Kevin/K2 –
You are not alone in the start-up world. I have a few under my belt (taking one public) as well as working for both domestic and international privately-held and publicly-held firms ranging from $60 million to well over $15 billion in annual revenue. I have prepared and presented business plans not only for investors but for banks as well, securing funding from both. So save the childish GDP contribution comment for the socialists. I am just another businessman trying to make sure another one of the good guys – Brad Thor – doesn't get bilked by this conman who is masquerading as a legitimate businessman (and ex-soldier, ex-super spook, ex-Counter-Russian-Mafia-Agent, ex-….).
I agree that start-ups and legacy firms alike do require "fortitude and hard work from a big team of people" as you stated. But they also require integrity, loyalty, duty, respect, self-less service, honor and personal courage. As a Soldier (assuming you were if you worked at 3C) these values should sound familiar – they are the Army Values. Bottom line, these values are not to be found in Moore's business beahvior.
Also, your comment about the economy ("the country has been suffering through a traumatic financial crisis with some of the biggest corporations going out of business") wasn't a factor, and neither was the dead investor a factor when Sovereign Deed failed to pay Gerson for their product…in 2006! All I see in your comments about why Sovereign Deed can't/won't meet their financial obligations are the smoke and mirrors of a con or the excuses of someone who won't/can't take the responsibility for their failure as a businessman, or both.
When you really look at Moore's business behavior, it is rather sociopathic. And sad.
Pius_militis
You have betrayed yourself as a disenchanted ex- employee, no doubt one that was fired.
How do I know this? Because Moore is the only person left on the planet that uses the term “3C” to refer to Triple Canopy and you could only have learned that term from him. For the benefit of other readers, please understand that the day after the minority shareholders of Triple Canopy conspired to force Moore out, a memo was but out restricting the further use of the term “3C.” Today, the entire industry refers to Triple Canopy as “TC” and the company abandoned the trademark application for “3C.” See link:http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&st...
Instead of trying to diminish a good man, a man who has created thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars of shareholder value, why don’t you focus on getting your own house in order. Also, be sure to familiarize yourself with the term libel as you have crossed the line.
Kevin/K2 –
Nice try on the ex-employee as well but Sherlock Holmes you are not. I do however know of ex-employees that left "3C" in the wake of this fiasco that speak with knowledge re: this guy – hence the insight.
The threat of libel, if I recall properly, was leveled against Michigan Messenger by Mr. Moore as well. I am no fan of that liberal rag but even a broke clock is right twice a day and that investigative reporter did one hell of a job.
Instead of whining to Brad Thor, why doesn't Mr. Moore just shut-up, use his supposed "abundant business success and experience" and run a legitimate business to profitability? If he is the lightening rod, get behind the scenes and use this "experience" to make it happen? You don't see any other successful businessman who comes under attack from a liberal rag whining about it – they laugh all the way to the bank.
For example, look at Eric Prince – you think he gives a darn what the media has portrayed him as? Hell no. And he has been, and continues to be, raked over the coals by the MSM – both domestically and internationally – and Congress. Does that stop him? Absolutely not! He just does a market assessment, modifies his business plan/model and marches on. He is the real deal – ex-SEAL, loyal, high-integrity, etc… He even had his personnel/management take the same oath U.S. Service members take. That is an example of a patriot and a good businessman.
Hey Kevin/K2: I'm no lawyer, but I do know that the defense to "libel" is that what I am saying is the truth. It's also public record that Moore testified under oath that he did commit fraud in Australia . So now you(or he is saying because Kevin, I think you are Mr. Moore in his super-secret spy-mode, complete with bullet-hole wound) saying he/you testified under oath wrongly–that he/you really didn't commit fraud? Maybe you/he should look up the definition of perjury.
Dear Mr. Moore (aka Kevin/K2): That WAS you, wasn't it? Testifying that you did commit fraud in Austalia? Or was that your evil twin the in alternate universe you have created in your own head? By the way, I don't know who pius militis is, but I bet he knows who you are. And he had a great suggestion a few posts ago to look up all the lawsuits against Sovreign Deed wherever you are doing business. Semper fi, Pius.
Kevin/K2/Mr. Moore: I am still waiting to see at what rank you were discharged from the Army, despite your super-secret "additional training" (is that where you got your decoder ring and disappearing ink pen?) you duped Thor into believing you had. By the way, does anyone work or live around where Sovereign Deed does business? Can you check your local county courthouses for lawsuits against him and SD? My map shows that is Lake County and Cook County, Illinois. Looking forward to those posts! Pius, my new bestest buddy: got a line on anyone out there who can help us out?

Q: How do you know someone is a scociopath?
A: Follow this link -http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_know_if_some...
An exerpt fro the link: "Many are monumentally self-important: they may pretend to be millionaires when in reality they are sliding towards financial disaster…Habitual dishonesty…He cannot hold a job and will probably commit crimes – theft, fraud, forgery, and spend time in jail or prison…Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle … Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility…What they do have is the ability to manipulate each situation to where nothing is their fault. They are quick to give praise to someone, but use that as another way to draw them further under their control. They truly have no capacity to believe that anything they have ever done is wrong – even when caught in a bold faced lie."
I am sure Mr. Moore will think he is looking in a mirror when he reads this.
So much for crumbling and running for the door, ace.
