On Wednesday, CNN’s Pentagon correspondent, Barbara Starr reported on multiple, highly sensitive documents that had been “provided” to CNN and which detail valuable, strategic intelligence gathered by the Department of Defense in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It should come as no surprise that Starr made sure to highlight all of the juicy details. She not only revealed U.S. knowledge of a covert meeting between Hamid Karzai’s brother and Mullah Baradar (a top Taliban leader who was later arrested in Pakistan), as well as a secret audio message played to Taliban commanders from reclusive Taliban leader, Mullah Omar, but she went on to inform the entire world that the United States has a safe house in Kabul (used by members of the Haqqani terror network) currently under surveillance. Great work Barbara!

Would anyone care to wager that within hours of Starr’s story being published on the Internet that the Haqqani network began sanitizing and abandoning all of its safe houses in Kabul?
How about a wager on whether or not Taliban operatives are now actively triangulating the information from Starr’s reporting in order to find out how the United States came by it? What about a wager on whether or not once the Taliban discover who’s responsible on their end, that person or persons will be murdered?
For such intrepid, show-our-cards-to-the-enemy-journalism, I have to say, “Brava, Ms. Starr!” Three cheers for you and your fellow travelers in the lamestream media. Once again you have aligned yourselves with disgruntled, America-hating, liberal intelligence insiders, who will do anything (even once again leaking classified intelligence because they don’t like how the game is being played) in order to take America “down a few pegs.”
I have a little piece of advice for Ms. Starr and other journalists like her: just because someone leaks, excuse me, “provides” classified information to your “news” organization, it doesn’t mean you should go public with it, especially if the information will endanger the lives of Americans, the lives of American intelligence assets, and will severely cripple ongoing intelligence operations.
But of course this isn’t just limited to Ms. Starr. The even bigger question raised by the article is who leaked the information to CNN in the first place?

According to confidential sources familiar with ongoing Department of Defense operations in the Af/Pak theater, there are several disgruntled players who are unhappy with how the D.O.D. has been gathering its intelligence and is providing force protection for our troops.
Reluctantly at the center of the fray, is a distinguished American warrior named Michael Furlong. Suffice it to say that Furlong has been unjustly turned into a modern-day whipping boy. Those with intimate knowledge of his operations not only resolutely stand behind him and his assertion that everything he has done is aboveboard and was conducted with the full support of his superiors, but that his efforts to secure for our troops the best force protection available has resulted in countless American lives being saved every single day.
So was it one of the aforementioned disgruntled players who leaked classified information to Barbara Starr and CNN? Word out of D.C. and Kabul is that suspicion is now falling upon someone within Furlong’s chain-of-command itself. The reason? The person in question is allegedly unhappy with how he believes in-theater intelligence is being gathered.
More to the point, the group Furlong brought in to provide atmospherics and force protection for our troops was too good, too fast. But rather than embrace the exceptional work the group was doing, petty jealousies ruled the day and, despite having done nothing wrong, Furlong was defenestrated. (Whether the Central Intelligence Agency was on the sidewalk yelling, “Jump,” or they were in the office helping give him a push, will all come out in due time.)
For the moment, the most troubling aspect for all Americans should be that someone above Furlong, someone within the D.O.D. (who should be committed to the safety of American troops above all else) appears to not only be taking shots at his own agency’s efforts in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but to be using the most highly-sensitive information to do it.
Much more as this story develops.

This woman needs to be questioned in court about who has illegally provided her with this information, if that disclosure was illegal. If that person is identified, then they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law..
Destroy Middle America and get rich doing it. The Jokers and the Banksters wouldn't be trying to undermine our military too?
Nah! Any wonder whose side they'll be on this November?
Anyone remember in years gone by, where the Marines were storming a beach somewhere, and CNN was there shoving lights and cameras in their faces? I forget what third world crap hole it was, but have a vivid image of it.
The MSM takes great pride, and is gleeful anytime they can put our Troops and Forces in harms way.
If the people at the Pentagon are crafty, the US did not have any Haqqani safe houses in Kabul under surveillance and this was just a way to make them scramble and exit Kabul. And the other stories were known to be true, thus making the Haqqani safe house story credible.
Isn't aiding the enemy considered treason? Does being a reporter exempt them from a treason charge? This isn't just an anti war protest, This is treason, pure and simple. CNN should be bombarded by both their viewers to cease these treasonous acts, and at least protect our troops. If any American soldier is wounded or killed CNN should be sued for negligence!
Why not ask 60 minutes to interview some people…….nod/ nod, wink/wink
This is minor compared to the Senator that told the NY Times that the NSA was able to track Bin Laden via his Satellite phone. Strangely enough, that Satellite phone went dead immediately after the story ran.
WAIT There is a word for this…
If only I could remember it…..
I think it carries a severe penalty also…
Oh what is that word?????
I KNOW!
TREASON
This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance.
The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death.
Isn't she the very picture of hate and sanctimony, though?
Sounds like Starr and her source should be tried for treason.
White house doesn't care, they want us to fail so they can blame Bush for the deaths. Lets put the flag and American Pride back up!
America could create alot of jobs for Carpenters! Lets start building Gallows and start hanging the treasonous politicians and corrupt MSM right away!
Serving 20+ years in the Air Force, serving proudly on the front lines of the Cold War in Europe, DESERT STORM, DESERT SHIELD, and DESERT FOX……this PISSES ME OFF! Because some arrogant idiot isn't getting his way and add to that a mainstream media hack who wants to make a name for herself has put fellow American lives in jeopardy….I guess this comes from the Obama book of what is most important "ME, MYSELF, and I"
Cowboy,
NO. Can you tell me more? Where/when did this occur, I'd like to research it.
Dayum… That sux…
CNN also went over how the taliban has been recieving russian weapons and weapons with persian writting. That the US gov. is upset over this intrusion over the border. Wow, Hilary is upset now and not when the small mensch did it with Iraq. CNN will probally be upset when the leak is patched, since a carreer is ended and not because soldiers are compromised.
Christ, Doesn't any of the intel people in DOD know how to do false flag ops anymore? You create a bunch of plausable stories on U.S. Military activity, entrust some of them to different people (carefully noting who has what), and see which ones get leaked to the press. They you can bag your big mouth and stick them in Leavenworth until the end of time. shuts that kinda crap down fast
The picture of her is not becoming. Is she insane? There is something wrong with her face and eyes.
First: Turn CNN OFF
Second: Do not advertise on CNN
Third: Un-embed all reporters with CNN until this "teller of secrets" comes clean with her source so they can be removed from the information chain.
Fourth: Bring charges of Treason against Ms Starr and whoever in CNN allowed this to be printed.
Fifth and Final: Go get these terrorists and indroduce them to their maker.
No chance that the media is interested in finding out.who the leaker is.. there are no juicy personalities like Karl Rove or DIck Cheney to shoot for, and no desire to embarrass this sitting president.
Don't ever forget…. CNN actually paid for footage showing the stalking and shooting of an American soldier in 2007 by Insurgents in Iraq. There is truly nothing that surprises me about this profoundly treasonous organization.
Boycott CNN !!!
Why are so many people who enjoy the privilege of living in the United States WANT TO DESTROY IT? Those of us who want to PROTECT our nation, REALLY SHOULD BE PUNISHING PEOPLE WHO DO NOT FOR TREASON!!! Is that concept getting through? TREASON IS A SERIOUS CRIME! It MUST be enforced!
It's always weird when evil people actually look evil.
Wasn't that Sam Donaldson standing on the beach with the bright lights when the Marines showed up for the sneak attack? I remember it well. It was a defining moment……………………and one you never see the MSM replay.
Maybe Starr is planning to run as a progressive and take Nancy's place as the House leader. (sarc)
Who said anything about the Media? If I was the D.O.D. Head, I'd say start running the false flag ops within the Dod and start rooting out leakers. This has gone far enough
This is specifically what came to my mind. I had to search a bit, but found it.
http://www.nytimes.com/1992/12/09/world/mission-s...
I remember sitting in another fourth world shithole, watching this on satellite asit played out, and was livid.
The Press put Troops in harms way.
When the Marines landed on the beach in Somalia the media specifically CNN was there waiting with lights on them
http://articles.latimes.com/1992-12-09/news/mn-16...
Kuwait? 1991?
If anything happens to Marines or Soldiers as a result of this, can the families sue CNN and this woman? They don't prosecute Treason anymore but what about bankrupting them? This is a question for Levin or Hewitt.
You think Obama and Eric Holder are going to prosecute someone for treason?!?!?
Maybe they should get a friendly visit by some troops/vets?
How do we find the defendant?
AMEN Brother.
8+ years USN
I'm not a religious man, but I do pray every day that these news organizations go out of business.
'There is something wrong with her eyes'
Yeah, there still open…
You're assuming CNN is actually on the side of the United States. They probably subscribe to that "Citizens of the World" BS, and as such they wouldn't see themselves as commiting treason. These are people who feel it's offensive to wear a pin of the American flag during a broadcast. You think they give a damn about our troops?
Regan was president. The Marines used tourist maps and called Washington on thier cell phones to get directions.

Somalia, 1992.
It was the defining military moment in the Clinton Administration, in conjunction with" Blackhawk Down", and of course, who could ever forget "Don't ask, Don't tell".
Slick Willy certainly wasn't a military genius, but was talented in other avenues……….
Both are guilty. Arrest the reporter, she will squeal…
The msm are scum sucking traitors. They would love nothing more than to report with glee the death our brave men and women in our military. THIS IS THE TYPE OF NEWS THEY RELISH. They give that stern and concerned look but inside they are as dark as night. They need to be removed and replaced in the same way we need to rid our government of the souless reprobates. Scum of the earth.
It was the beaches of Somalia, they were Navy Seals. It was learned after the fact the information came directly from the Clinton White House. CNN was on the beach, and when the Seals started coming in, they turned on massive lights and tried interviewing some of them. They were some rather PO'd Seals.
Somalia should have never happened, but so many in the leftist media wanted the heady days of reporting from the battlefield like in Desert Storm. They solely wanted to make a name for themselves, and cared not a whit about the soldiers that would be killed by them banging the war drums demanding Bush do something. Once Clinton was installed by them, he wanted to look like the CinC, so he withdrew armor and had his little photo op retaking the White House lawn….which led to Blackhawk Down and a lot of soldiers killed and wounded. The media interviewed a SSG in the hospital in Germany who was rather PO'd, and laid the blame at the White House where it belonged…and suddenly no more interviews of the wounded.
Similar to CNN ignoring what Saddam did in Iraq so they could maintain a bureau there.
Find out exactly who gets murdered because of her, then communicate all of her personal information to the families of the murdered. The rest will take care of itself.
As a matter of fact, this should be done for all such creeps in the media, including that notorious bigot Lawrence O'Donnell. The families of people you caused to be killed will eventually get your ass too, pal.
They are desperate for ratings and will do anything at this point. But this is exactly why no one watches them anymore. They are no longer credible. Why also that newspapers are becoming obsolete. People are getting sick and tired of their lies.
Cowboy & Guest,
!@#$% !@#$@$^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately I was nose to the grindstone in 1992, just a few years out of the Navy, recovering from a divorce, raising my son as a single Dad, and just about to become aware ignoring politics was about to get me screwed. I missed this one completely… I've studied Durant's book, and the more popular "Blackhawk Down" Fictionalizd version, but that is all I know from Somalia.
This is definitely a new area I plan to study… This is High Treason in my book. Who revealed the landing site?
I need to stop typing before I say something I should not say…
Thanks to both of you for the education today.
David
The Clinton Whire House provided the info to the Press. Dee Dee Myers I think.
"v Pravde net izvestiy, v Izvestiyakh net pravdy"
"In the Truth there is no news, and in the News there is no truth"
Yes.
You summed it up exactly. It was what first came to my mind. The Clinton Admin wanted a photo op.
Love your name.
I used to have a corporation with that name. Used it for buying distressed assets. And they say I don't have a sense of humor……….
Another MSM traitor.
It was when they landed in Somalia.
Saying Blackhawk Down is fictionalized really does not do it justice. I read the news articles Mark Bowden wrote after interviewing the soldiers involved. They were SHOCKING due to the fact that little of what happened was reported so as to protect Clinton. I emailed back and forth with him a little bit….it was an entire lengthy week long series he wrote. He said he too was shocked it had not been reported, and only discovered what had happened by interviewing the soldiers involved for something else.
His book came much later, and very largely tracked what he had written for the news articles.
The movie as well was great because it also tracked the book very closely. It wasn't some hollyweird make-believe that soldiers involved would not recognize.
Why isn't this woman in jail?

Ken Hamblin fan??!! Haven't heard BOHICA in a long time!
This is TREASON in my book. She and her filthy informant have placed our special forces in danger.
People who do this are haters of America. A solid campaign should be initiated against these idiots.
Was it worth it Barbara Starr to sell your soul and betrya your country?
We need enforcement that places a burden of responsibility on reporters. If classified information comes from their mouths or pen, the reporter should be criminally accountable.
"Freedom of the press" is not a get out of jail free card.
Bohica,
I've read it, and I know a couple guys who were young and over there in 92-93.
It is "fictionalized" to protect some things and it is damn good. I did not mean it in a demeaning way.
Durant's book "in the company of heroes" in my opinion is better, but at minimum it is the must read companion piece to "Blackhawk Down". The movie was pretty darn good too, fairly close to the book. I own both.
I was just talking to the wife just last night that Blackhawk Down is a decent honest portrayal of the military by Hollywood. Now that I work in the DOD and I know MANY more people involved in these types of events I should rewatch them.
Mark Bowden seems like a good guy. What is he working on now?
Be well Bohica…
Starr (with two R's) is a pipeline from DOD. Any info she mouths is official.
Dee Dee should read my other posting about the penalty for Treason… I do not recall a statute of limitations…
That is unmitigated bullsh!t that they pulled that crap. I'm amazed…
Cowboy,
Yes. This is much closer. A good friend of mine was VERY MUCH present in Grenada. He did mention they did not have great maps, and that their were complications. I'll ask for more specifics next time he and I chat.
Having spent much time in the Pentagon over the yeras, I feel it is highly probable that people around this "DOD Insider" either know who it is, or seriously suspect who it is. We can only hope that one of them eventually has the moral courage to identify the traitor.
Troopies have always been political pawns, particularly for the left. It amazes me that, to this day, there are people who really believe the DemoCretins are an anti-war party. When the U.N. came into being, they thought they finally had something that they thought would get us to quit spending money on defense that they have, for all time, thought should be spent on disabling social(ist) programs but it never stopped them from trying to politically capitalize on the wars. They are an opportunistic bunch of charlatans who never waste a crisis.
I don't think we have a current Sedition Act which, as I understand it, is what we use to define treason. If I'm wrong, and I think I may well be, someone please let me know. I understand your sentiment, though.
Yeah, friendly, that's the ticket.
Immediately after Hell freezes.
Thanks DM, I'll have to read it. I have yet to see a more accurate portrayal by Hollywood of a military operation. I might watch the movie again this weekend (I have the DVD) but it is difficult. Not sure what Bowden is up to now. I saw a reference to him some time ago….but nothing since. To me, he is a hero for his reporting of what happened there.
Oh these sweetie lefties, they are so soulful and caring. They love the world so much and want to level the playing field for all.
I would wager every penny I have that Professor Obama is giving away secrets too, he will be the first President ever to go down in flames for treason.
She thinks she is Brenda Starr, but is really Tokyo Rose.
I think Salman Rushdie said something to the effect that liberalism exists so even ugly babes can get high-profile jobs or something like that. 'Hit every branch, on the way down, didn't she?
Marry me?
You too, huh? I think their innards must go sour or something like that. Weird.
I'm with you. Sort of a Biblical approach, with a twist, to legislation and incidents like the one in this article. Whatsoever you do unto others, good or evil, so shall you accept that that be done unto you.

"Ugly" I can handle. The nasty personality I see when I look at that, is something else again.
I think jpr is recalling the scene in the Eastwood classic Heartbreak Ridge where a Marine tapped into a phone line and called in the cavalry.
Howard Stern is probably wondering ehy they used his picture.
George H. W. Bush was still president, but Clinton had won the election. Bush called Clinton and told him what he wanted to do and Clinton agreed. Later, when it all went bad, Clinton lied (big surprise) and said he wasn't even president when the U.S. military went into Somalia. In short, it was Bush's fault.

I disagree on one point.
Once again you have aligned yourselves with disgruntled, America-hating, liberal intelligence insiders, who will do anything (even once again leaking classified intelligence because they don’t like how the game is being played) in order to take America “down a few pegs.”
If I know modern liberals, and I do, this is to boost Obama's cred on national security. It's also to move the focus from health care (expect a lot of that for basically ever).
But over all I agree, despite a different self serving motive, its still despicable to the US Military personal on the ground.
He knew how to keep his cigars moist. That was one bigass humidor he had.
If someone is leaking confidential information to this news-cow, I hope they are caught. I hope when the 'leaker' is caught, they are charged with treason, and summarily executed.
If you give top-secret information to a media outlet, you have given it to every America-hating thug in the world.
Perhaps some 'rendition' of this reporter will help smoke-out the mole…
Starr got that info on her knees … likley goes through a set of kneepads every month …
She must really hate her country … I cannot imagine such vile sentiments, but it exists, she is proof

Brenda is not holding up well…
I say waterboard the bitch! Make her tell her source or go to prison for life. This is national security and there is never a reason to divulge such highly sensitive info. I think she will be getting an "Arrogance" medal from Mr. Arrogance himself. These people in the MSM are so dumb that they would divulged the time of the "D" day invasion if they had been around and had known it.
Treason media strikes again.
Don't forget, Obama appointed a female high level staffer in the pentagon with socialist and anti-military leanings. She was thought at the time to be a pentagon spy for 'Bam. I apologize I forgot her name too. I'll look it up and report back.
.
Wasn't it though?
I wonder where she is now, and what she looks like? Probably a brood sow.
OK, got it — treason media strikes again.
Obama appointed ROSE BROOKS as Undersecretary of Defense Policy — she is former Times reporter and strong advocate of government bailout of the mainstream media — I would bet money that is the pentagon Obama spy feeding information to the the media and putting troops in danger.
.
Rose Brooks — take a look at Rose Brooks as the leaker.
Appointed by Obama as an undersecretary of defense, former (NYT or LA ) times reporter and strong advocate of media being bailed out and effectively nationalized by government.
update:
Rosa Brooks — former LA Times reporter and government media takeover advocate, was chosen April 2009 as adviser to Michele Flourney who is the undersecretary of defense policy involved with the Af-Pak theater.
.
It's called treason, actively working against the US in a time of war. I believe the death penalty is a punishment for this, but heck, since members of Congress have been doing it since the Vietnam War, whats a little treason between folks, am I right?
Sediion is not Treason. Sedition was ruled Unconstitutional back near the founding of the country. John Adams biggest mistake was supporting the Sedition Act to protect his Political Party and to remain in power. This only proves that Man is a Venial being and that the Fouders were correct to limit the scope and power of government.
Treason is a different animal alltogether. It would be difficult to prosocute a reporter of treason because whille the results of a reporter giving out classified information is the same as a traitor handing it directly over to our enemies it is the direct contact with our enemies that is lacking.
Maybe an Atty. in the crowd could explain it. I am not and have never played one on TV.
I appreciate your reply and moreso you're not having been a lawyer or having played one on TV–you might not go to Hell. I'm not sure why, but I was thinking guilt of treason was, circuitously, considered a seditious act. 'Guess I'm gonna have to exercise a little intellectual vigor. I'm getting as lazy as the left in that regard. Thanks.
Sorry but i saw ur profile bit?? What subs were you on?? I was a boomer sailor for 6 years. The Francis Scott Key and Nebraska
I remember the scene but from my understanding it was based on an actual event. Could be wrong though.
My understanding is from a guy who was there in the Rangers was that it was a photo op event staged for the media and the landing site had already been secured before the troops came ashore
Recently saw a picture of her, Actually in the photo she had lost wieght and was pretty hot looking. lol
But was complaining she could not find any decent guys since whenever one heard her name they asked about the cigars. lmao
The Mog
Bet she would talk with a bit of water boarding down in a third world country. If she talked before they water boarded her, water board her anyway.
