Through key intelligence sources in Afghanistan and Pakistan, I have just learned that reclusive Taliban leader and top Osama bin Laden ally, Mullah Omar has been taken into custody.
According to the State Department’s Rewards for Justice Program there is a bounty of up to $10 million on Omar for sheltering Osama bin-Laden and his al-Qaeda network in the years prior to the September 11 attacks as well as the period during and immediately thereafter.
At the end of March, US Military Intelligence was informed by US operatives working in the Af/Pak theater on behalf of the D.O.D. that Omar had been detained by Pakistani authorities. One would assume that this would be passed up the chain and that the Secretary of Defense would have been alerted immediately. From what I am hearing, that may not have been the case.
When this explosive information was quietly confirmed to United States Intelligence ten days ago by Pakistani authorities, it appeared to take the Defense Department by surprise. No one, though, is going to be more surprised than Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. It seems even with confirmation from the Pakistanis themselves, she was never brought up to speed.
Over the weekend, Clinton accused Pakistani Government officials of “holding back” on bin Laden intelligence. In an interview Sunday on CBS “60 Minutes,” she said:
“I believe that somewhere in this government are people who know where Usama bin Laden and Al Qaeda is, where Mullah Omar and the leadership of the Afghan Taliban is, and we expect more cooperation to help us bring to justice, capture or kill those who attacked us on 9/11.”
They know all right and so do we, at least when it comes to Mullah Omar. We have known since the end of March and we had it confirmed ten days ago by the Pakistanis. So why didn’t the State Department and the CIA know?

Recently the Obama Administration has been shifting the focus of Homeland Security away from Muslim terrorists and toward American terrorists (can't be blaming his bros, can we?).

I pretty much agree with jake49. Our guys knew about this and they are certainly utilizing the Pakistani style of interrogations to our advantage. I’m sure too that they had to supply a series of questions to ask and after reviewing those, threw in some additional ones as follow-up(s). It wouldn’t bother me none if Pakistan hangs on to this guy as long as possible. Their middle-eastern values are pretty much cut and dry. If you know something? They have the means to obtain the info from you. And they could care less what other countries think about their methods in obtaining the info. If you aren’t worthy of living because of the death and destruction you caused? They have no issues with cleaning house.
Pakistan doesn’t fight a “kindler, gentler war”, much like many other middle-eastern countries. I still prefer and respect our approach to war, to a certain degree though. I’d like to think our value of innocent lives helps our cause but we all know too well that these values are not respected in the eyes of other countries, especially those who hate us. But war is hell and innocents will die in the process.
So, let the Pakistani’s do what they do best, obtain info from prisoners. If their methods are what it is rumored to be, then it’ll suck to be the guy named Mullah Omar. In the meantime, none of our troops will have to endure the ridiculous accusations and burdens of trial for hurting another terrorists’ feelings.

If this story is true, it should never have been broken unless the Pakis and CIA WANTED IT BROKEN.
A captured enemy combatant the level of Omar is an irreplaceable, IRREPLACEABLE ASSET. His knowledge of the inner workings of AQ, the Taliban, funding, sale/purchase of weapons, INVENTORY OF WEAPONS, knowledge of and NAMES OF tiered command and communication structure, how funding is moved, recruits are found, in and outside the US, ongoing missions, planned missions….the LIST IS ENDLESS!

We have yet to even know if this story has legs. I find the silence most telling, especially the lack of even denials by various agencies. Coupled with Clinton's strange remarks on the talk show circuit…something's not right. Just too many scenarios that we could run that would make sense.

Great news if it's true. Even funnier; if true, that this administration has been exposed once again as totally incompetent. I can't even listen the President speak anymore.
