On Friday, Newsweek “We Are All Socialists Now” Magazine published an article entitled, “Taliban in Turmoil.” In it they report:
Dissension has broken out in the top ranks of Afghanistan’s Taliban. The group has muddled along without an operational head since February, when Mullah Mohammed Omar’s second in command, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, was arrested in Karachi, Pakistan… But now a claimant to Baradar’s position has emerged—and at least some senior Taliban chiefs are seriously questioning whether he should have the job.
We reported this a full two weeks ago, but let’s not let that get in the way of our enjoyment of the Newsweek piece.

Gone walkabout: Mullah Omar
The claimant is Mullah Gul Agha Akhund, “an in-law and long term confidant of Mullah Omar’s.” Apparently, senior officials —including Omar’s top military commander, Abdul Qayum Zakir— are skeptical of Gul Agha’s claim to power. What’s more, Gul Agha’s claim is sowing doubt and confusion throughout the Taliban’s ranks.
That can’t be good for the bad guys.
Newsweek goes on to say that there is yet another claimant named Mullah Mohammad Mansoor, (another fact we also reported two weeks ago). In my report, I stated that Mansoor and Zakir have actually both been fighting for control. But according to Newsweek, it looks now like we’ve got a three-way race. The obvious question here, though, is why is there any race at all?

Shouldn’t Mullah Omar be handling this? Shouldn’t Omar speak out, quash the “turmoil,” and settle all of this? One of these guys is his “in-law and long-term confidant” after all.
Hmmmmmmm, I wonder why no one has heard even a peep out of Omar.
If you’ve been following my writing, you already know the answer, but I’ll let the ace reporters at Newsweek nibble around the edges and hint at what we’ve been reporting here for the last three weeks.
Three Taliban sources tell NEWSWEEK they wish Mullah Omar would speak up and settle the leadership question before matters get any worse; with 30,000 U.S. reinforcements arriving on the battlefield, the Taliban desperately need a unified strategy… “No one really knows who is in charge.”
And the reason no one in the Taliban knows who’s in charge is because, as we exclusively reported on May 10th, Mullah Omar has been in Pakistani custody since March.
That information is 100% rock-solid and you can take it to the bank.

I'm sure Newsweek, like most of the lamestream media, are sad that the Taliban's leadership is in a turmoil because Omar isn't able to take charge.
Go figure.
A troll, and I can't remember which one, commented recently about this subject, something like how Thor must have been wrong because no one in the MSM had picked up the story of Omar's capture. Uh, huh.
This must be a plot by the Taliban, next week Omar will show up just to make Andrew Breitbart look bad. Yeah, right. ; )
Newsweak bitchslapped. I love it.
Why isn't Waldo in OUR custody?
Maybe they will all kill each other and save us the trouble. Shows once again why tribalism doesn't work. I love it that you are making Newsweek obsolete. GREAT JOB!
It is not surprising that Newsweek lost almost $30 million bucks over the last year. Obviously, their "product" is not in demand. The market place eventually weeds out the losers, in a free market, capitalist system.
He is in custody of the Pakistanis so they can used "enhanced interrogation techinques" to extract as much intelligence as possible (Obama admin asked him nicely but he refused to talk). You won't hear about the capture until right before the November elections.
perhaps once newsweek closes their doors, one of the idiots, i mean ex-journalists, can go over there and try to take charge. but now that we have obama in office, not bush, i am not sure if they still are rooting for the taliban to win?
"That information is 100% rock-solid and you can take it to the bank.'
Would that be Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, or Citibank?
stay away from shorebank, and broadway bank.
For the MSM to "Hat tip" Mr. Thor's brilliant investigative journalism would amount to an admission of their utter ineptness.
When the chosen one chooses the right politically opportune time to drop the capture bomb on the media, Retracto is going to be very busy I'd say. Great work Brad.
If they can keep something of this magnitude in a "News Blackout", it's unimaginable what their limitations could be!!! North Korea blowing up the oil platform could be more than a rumor also!!!! Facts will always surface over time, those who suppress them will be exposed for what they are, information suppressors, contrary to the trust they claim to deserve as unobjectionable informers!!!! If they can't spot "Waldo", we (Someone else) will, they will look stupid because they overlooked the obvious, obviously on PURPOSE!!!
The Taliban's command structure is thankfully FUBAR. They can start infighting over control and never really be sure if their beloved leader will return (of course he won't) and will squash whomever tried to wrest away his control.
Sounds like they really are following the model of their "prophet."
Pretty sure it was mikatollah…
I have a good question for "News"week…?
What about Rahm…?
I think you're right, but didn't want to say without proof. You know how he'll whine if it wasn't him. I was gonna go through his comment stream, but he does like 10 pages a day ( he must get a pretty good bonus from Media Matters), so forget it, I got better ways to waste my time.
With our Bi-polar State Department it would be very good if the Taliban are in disorder. Lets hope your right, otherwise we are in for some big hurt this summer. After all didn't we just lose 2 Lt. Colonels, 2 Colonels, and their drivers in a Taliban attack in Kabul.
Are the Taliban in this type of Turmoil?
Taliban take control of district in Nuristan Afghanistan
By BILL ROGGIO
May 29, 2010
The Taliban have seized control of a district in the northeastern province of Nuristan after several days of heavy fighting. Afghan police have abandoned the district center of Barg-e-Matal as fighting took place in the main town, Afghan political and police officials said.

Waldo's undercover.
I hope it is true. It's curious why nobody else has said anything, yet. Of course, anything reported on a Breitbart site is automatically categorized as just more BS from the BS king, but my personal policy is always keep an open mind.
Thanx man, now I remember. It was you.
http://bigjournalism.com/rfutrell/2010/05/25/who-...
And we know that BS stands for 'Breaking Stories' when used to describe Breitbart's work. Unlike the MSM, HuffPo and Media Matters, and all other progressive outlets where BS stands for 'bullshit'.
here's some of the Worst of Breitbart
http://biggovernment.com/jhoft/2010/04/28/team-ob...
A rotten lie and no retraction. (From the same people who sick "Retracto, the Correction Alpaca" after anyone who they call a liar.)

Brad Thor & Michael Yon may have great reputations in journalism, but they need to realize if you hang around with dogs, you're going to wind up with fleas.
Sorry mika – my mistake.
I've seen no evidence refuting the story. It says 'Team Obama' not 'Obama', like the clown in your rebuttal story. The Secret Service is part of 'Team Obama'. Don't kid yourself. And do you know that a flea is a parasite? The only parasites around here are trolls. It's part of being a left-winger (progressive), living off of others, and offering nothing of value in return.
Good day.
Ditto that mic, my bad (don't say we don't admit to our mistakes, now).
%(
'Frowning Man' by di-da is Picasso.
If I remember right, it was one of the liberal bloggers who said that he must be wrong, because no credible source corroborates what he said.
But that doesn't change facts. Thor's right, apparently.
Because he wasn't captured by a country whose president likes the taliban. (Read that carefully…)
Newsweek is published weakly.
Yeah, life would be much more enjoyable if you and the right wing cheerleaders could just close your eyes and float in conservative La La Land in peace & harmony without any distractions from those annoying trolls. What do you consider offering something of value…?
"Liberalism is based on deep seeded feelings of inadequacy. That are then projected on to others. It's a mental disorder plain and simple."
"Liberals are long past the childish mentality. Everything they say and do is rooted in abject hatred.'
"How many liberals do you know who've successfully outgrown childhood?"
"I bet Congressmen Sestak use to meet Bill Clinton in a park and beat him with his belt till Bill cried with joy."
Di Da alpha, you can't expect people will read all the Right Wing BS here and never speak up about it. Nothing of value to you, of course, since it's out of your comfort zone.
Here's one of my quotes ……
" Progressivism is a disease. It spreads from filthy, progressive mouths, and enters through the ears of the ignorant and impressionable. "
http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/ggutfeld/2010/0...
The first three quotes you have listed there are fairly accurate as far as their message goes. The last one is a bit over the top, probably thrown out there for a little comic relief.
And trolls don't bother me, as a matter of fact, some are quite entertaining. And what, according to you, is my 'comfort zone' ? I read progressive propaganda and it doesn't make my blood boil, but I do point out the fallacies, of which there are many.
There are many here with whom I disagree on some things. We have, 1) fiscal conservatives/social libertarians, 2) fiscal conservatives/social conservatives, 3) hard core Republicans, all agreeing on 70-90 % of the issues facing our nation. We don't march in lockstep. We do, however, have big time disagreements with progressives of all strips and the extremist libertarians, who are really just soft core anarchist.
My, what a muddled mass of myopic mullahs. Jeepers Creepers and I have Mullah Omar, and we'll get a peep out of him, at very least. When we're through with him he won't be tempted by women's curves OR by Obamaweek magazine.
It is alleged he was taken in Pakistan. They have the legal authority on this guy. Something like possession is nine-tenths of the law.
It would really be great to see a three way fight going on within the Taliban. Our guys could sit on the sidelines and watch the show. Popcorn, anyone?
Mullah Omar has been sighted at the "Man's Country" bathhouse in Chicago………….
My boy Scotsirish is correct. He has also been seen teaching the reach-around technique to the bathhouse faithful. His nickname is "Reach-around Randy".

Thank G-d there are a few reliable sources of information out there.
The sooner the MSM crumbles, the better off America will be.
I'm becoming a real fan, Brad.
Yeah, I saw it. Of course children don't know that they act childishly, it's all they know. Same with progressives. If they ever grow up and quit being liberals, they can see that the study has merit, but if they stay liberal, no matter how old they are, they can't see how foolish and immature their ideology really is. It's all they know.
So Newsweek is at least 2 weeks old news? Imagine that.
Kudos to the BIGS for the work they are doing and keeping us informed with the truth. Forget "fair and balanced" I just want the straight skinny.
I'm eagerly awaiting Big Education so it can finally be shown that "higher education" is no longer education but rather indoctrination of our youth.
Mr. Thor,
Please keep the real news coming here for us.
Let NewsWeak's drivel dribble out to their faithful sychophants.
We know you have the REAL news we need from that area of the world.
Thank you and God Bless your sources.
