Rep. Bart Stupak voted last night in favor of healthcare legislation that does not prohibit funding abortions. The cave came after withstanding weeks of pressure from the Obama Administration and Pelosi’s minions in Congress. Why he would choose to fold now is almost incomprehensible.
Incomprehensible, that is, except that pro-life Democrats have a history of sacrificing their pro-life convictions to political expediency. Stupak can now trudge the trail of shame blazed by Jesse Jackson, Al Gore, and Dick Gephardt, among others.
Stupak had led a small group of Democrats who refused to vote for healthcare legislation that did not prohibit funding abortions. Stupak and his coterie succeeded in prohibiting funding of abortions in the House healthcare legislation. But never tell “devout Catholic” Nancy Pelosi that seventh-eighths of a loaf is better than none. Pelosi and her pals hammered away on their reluctant brethren, unwilling to give an inch on the abortion language. They bet that “pro-life” Democrats’ devotion to enacting universal healthcare would trump their commitment to the unborn. And the bet paid off.
In voting for the healthcare legislation, Stupak betrayed the principles for which he claimed to stand. He traded principled resistance for the fig leaf of a useless executive order. Aside from the meaninglessness of the executive order, the continued existence of the executive order depends on Barack Obama’s good faith. If you’ll sell out your principles on nothing more than Barack Obama’s word, there’s a bridge I’d like to sell you.
But somehow Stupak was able to brazen his way through voting for a bill he had fought for weeks while every observer nodded knowingly at his gullibility.
Thirty-four Democrats voted against the Senate healthcare bill. Why didn’t Bart Stupak have the courage to stand with them?

I had to laugh last week at Greta Van Susteren when she made the statement she didn't think Stupe pack would cave and "seemed committed". ha ha. I'm not surprised in the least. There are NO non-socialist Democrats and Stupack is just a typical congressional whore.

http://www.americanparchment.com reports that this will be sent to the Supreme Court where they will decide if it is Constitutional to mandate everyone buying health care. Isn’t it just right that the Judges should be able to shut down this health care bill after Obama made a spectacle of them in the State of the Union Address.
There is also one more way to combat it. 36 States have bills in their Congress or Lawsuits by their AG’s to combat this mandate of health care shutting down this bill in those states. Sadly our taxes will still go up. We will have to wait and see what happens.

If I was Stupak's wife and family I would be extremely upset. Weren't they harassed for weeks for his position? After taking all that crap for his principles and then he throws them away at the last minute. He could have saved them some grief and done it weeks ago.
Executive Orders mean nothing and can be changed at the whims of the President. Obama's track record on abortion does not bode well for him supporting a ban on federally funded abortions.
I've just go me a new hobby. I'm going to spend the rest of my days making sure that anyone who still has an Obama sticker on his car, has a bad day.

Mr. Stupak had his fifteen minutes of fame. A profile in courage he was not to be. A health care bill should have some type of abortion language in it. Obama will change his ex-order when it suits him probably when he is running for reelection. This bill has three things going aganist it, it kills jobs, creates a entitlement we cannot afford, puts govt. in charge of all life decisons. Those are the reasons Stupak should have opposed it. He chose abortion to make his stand and he flushed it away.
Stupak caved at least two days before the vote. It was a dog and pony show. We were duped, we thought our wishes would be represented, we now know they weren't and that their personal greed took priority. We need to know what exactly they were given for voting against us – expose them all. Ambassatorships, NATO jobs, money, etc., as they gave away our representative government for a few pieces of silver. They need to be punished and stripped of everything. Voting them out is good but not good enough. They're going to be rich, have full benefits, and cadillac health care. They need to be stopped.

I actually trusted Stupak. I actually believed he stood with his convictions. I actually gave out his number and urged citizens to call him and thank him for his courage to stand against his parties depraved indifference to human life. What is even more shocking is he voted yes on the alleged promise to have an executive order signed by the only person who had ever opposed the "born alive infant protection act" not once, but three times. He is relying on a promise, by a man, who believes that a baby born alive, from a failed abortion, should be left to die, in agony, alone, with no medical intervention. Every day is more remarkable than the next.

Stupak after all of his strident talk gives in to an empty promise from a president that is incapable of telling the truth about anything. He had the opportunity to show his constituents that he was a man of integrity,but instead chose to join the pro abortion crowd when he knew that the presidents executive order had no weight against the law enacted ,if he didn't know then the guy is a total idiot.
Can't wait til november although i don't live in his state but i will donate funds to any conservative candidate that runs against him.
