Maybe I’m deaf and blind, but two weeks after a voting records examination report showed Minnesota Senator Al Franken was probably elected by felons who were illegally voting in that state’s 2008 general election, I’ve yet to come across even one mention of that story in the agenda-setting media.
An actual Minnesota ballot that counted for Franken
Yesterday, I kept an eye on CNN’s Rick Sanchez, Wolf Blitzer, HN’s headline hammerers, and MSNBC’s Obama cheer leading squads. It’s too early for the “prestige” glamour anchor news shows on NBC, CBS, and ABC as I write this so maybe the story will be on later… Psyche! — as “New” Black Panther chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz likes to say.
Denial of the vote to convicted felons is a big deal to the Panthers as well as many other black groups that want nothing to do with the Shabazz crew because most now affected are black and vote Democrat- the very reason conservatives like Alabama Republican Party Chairman Marty Connors say, “We’re opposed to [restoring voting rights to them] because felons don’t tend to vote Republican.” Yep, around 90% of the time they don’t.
Given that most reporters are liberal Democrats, it seems reasonable that would generate some coverage–especially when a couple of additional facts are considered. Many disenfranchisement laws were originally designed to specifically bar blacks from voting after the 15th Amendment said nobody could be kept from voting because of race.
This Harper’s Weekly cartoon shows an elated black man casting his vote under the authority of the Fifteenth Amendment, as he shoos away the irritating “flies” of states which voted against its ratification.
There are reasons for the politically minded news person not to run with Franken story even though it won’t affect his win, of course. Drawing attention to the possibility that illegal voters may have elected Franken may delegitimize his win in some minds. So it isn’t going to be on any other news outlet except for Fox News .
Still, you’d think there would be enough intellectual honesty (I find myself using that phrase a lot when writing about modern journalism) to at least acknowledge the report done by the conservative watchdog group Minnesota Majority as a springboard into the general issue of whether those convicted of felonies should be allowed to vote.
In the interest of full disclosure, I believe, in principle, one should be able to vote after his/her debt to society has been paid in prison time and probation. But it’s a principle I can afford to hold because the U.S. Constitution saves me from being a hypocrite. You see, a portion of the 14th Amendment says states can deny the vote “for participation in rebellion, or other crime.”
The details vary from state to state, but basically, 48 states deny voting to those in prison, 33 states say parolees cannot vote, and 29 say those on probation can’t. In terms of numbers, that means around four million Americans cannot vote.
Does that number matter?
According to a University of Minnesota study, allowing convicted felons to vote would have put Al Gore in the White House instead of George W. Bush.

Congress needs to be relocated to our local districts to securely telecommute so that the big 5 media lose their monopolies because it will be their affiliates with all the direct political access.
This is how you stop media coverups – http://econgressnow.com
Bad link
Try it again, traffic seems to be heavy right now.
Day after day we read articles about corruption. We understand. We write letters. We protest. We vote. Nothing changes. What is the answer?
The Left and their enablers (LSM) are quiet about their advocacy for Federally reissuing voting rights that have been suspended by the STATES. The Left intends to tack reversal legislation onto some 2300 page law, yet to be
introduced. The pattern is the same, for every issue.
Hillary has advocated reinstatement publicly, but o and Nan would rather surprise us, as in: "You need to pass the
bill, so we can see what's in it". OH BOY wheeee, just like Christmas morning, …….AGAIN?
I'm no lawyer, but my position is, that decision should remain in the domain of each STATE. Not uniform, you say,
hard to enforce………I say, life in general is hard, quit whining and follow the damn rules the STATES have made.
If you don't like my STATE's rules, move to another……see how that works?…..so simple even a caveman………..
Bottom line, Franken was elected by useful idiots….alive, dead, felons, and illegals….
http://econgressnow.com – seriously, it hits all the major issues: balance of power, nonpartisanship, anti-lobbying, reduces corruption, cost effective, & national security in addition to break up the media monopoly.
I'm afraid, you won't like it….
The voting public had better begin embracing organizations such as Minnesota Majority if we wish to have free elections continue in this country. The leftists can't win elections when an honest exchange of ideas is the norm, so they must use tactics like those used by the Sec. of State Project funded by soros. If you can't win out right, use the power of the state to steal elections.
Thanks Thumbs up
Now I have some home work to do
The proposition of "Teleconfrence" congress has merit. Congressional representatives located full time in their districts would curtail a lot of backroom deals. The use of communication systems would also create a record of what was said by whom and about what. Talk about transparent government. With the economy in shambles this would be a great idea on saving taxpayers dollars, just think of how much would be saved by curtailing the junkets so popular with the congress, not to mention the trips back to their districts. Wow! this needs to grow legs.
Great to hear.
The biggest thing we need help with is for people to go out in their local area and interview people about their thoughts on eCongress and then post it to the web and send us the link so we can further spread the idea.
I don't know what surprises me
Is that anybody is surprised
Felons are merely active participants in Spreading the Wealth among the citizens. They do it by outright theft, while the Fed Govt calls it TAXATION. All the same,,,,taking assets from folks that worked to earn them, and putting them in the hands of those that do not work at all to earn anything.
Obama and his administrations are unofficial felons. Hope that someday they gain full felon status along with the appropriate convictions and penalties.
Thinking about the guilliotine.
The best part about the eCongress/Teleconference idea is that unlike with most solutions that get lost on the general public, this one seems to have broad support right off the bat.

<on soapbox>
The Minnesota Majority was on this topic before, during and after the campaign and they were/have been shunned by the media who is gaga over Franken. If it weren't for the New Black Panthers/J. Christian Adams story I believe the Minnesota story would still be under a proverbial rock. Dan McGrath, Jeff Davis, et al who have been tenacious at getting the facts and then getting the story out are rock stars in my book.
If you are in Minnesota, make sure to bookmark http://minnesotamajority.org and, if/when possible, help them out whether monetarily or sending letters/emails/faxes when they send out alerts. They are a tremendous resource and are on top of all of the issues that concern you. Don't let others make decisions for you and your family. Stay informed.
<off soapbox>
It's that "comprehensive" BullSh!t again! I shudder every time I see that word associated with legislation. We're going to have to spend the next 20 years repealling all the crap this last (hopefully) democrat congress has already passed. Great post. I, too, love the United STATES! Emphasis on States.
Being from Minnesota this is truly disheartening.

This Franken case is just one of many. At this point, the focus has got to be on how to stop the big media monopoly instead of getting caught up in every case of malpractice as it comes along – http://econgressnow.com
Yes Sir LiO………seems to be a THEME with the REGIME,………. oh my, I'm a poet & didn't know it….
20 yrs, surely ye jest, LiO ?……………..My estimate is 100 yrs for 66% of this BS to be repealed, some
G&%*&$#@%
will never be repealed. I think I'll go slay some weeds, get rid of my frustration……….
Minnesota was the testing ground, wait till this November's elections. I am sure we will see voter fraud on a massive scale that will allow the Progressive/Socialist to continue their destruction of our Republic. That is why the MSM wont cover it, so when it happens in November they will be able to deny it ever happens except when its a Republican.
Intellectually honest MSM journalist. Now there's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.
No surprise that this is not being covered by the legacy media. It goes against a lib and does not promote the Annointed Ones agenda.
I have to agree that former felons should not be denied voting rights. As far as I'm concerend, once someone has repaid their debt to society, they should have their voting rights restored. I happen to think people on parole and probation should not have their rights restored as they really are still serving out their sentance, just not behind bars. Once the sentance is over and done with though, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
Of course, that pesky Constitution allows the sovereign states to determine who among their citizens will be eligible to vote, and for the most part, they deny that right to ex-cons. You'd think a story like this would be a good one to help the media drum up a disenfranchisement story, especially considering there is a disproportionate number of minorites who get disenfranchised by these laws, (seeing how minorities disproportionately commit felonies) but no, in doing such a story they would have to acknowledge that it's possible that Senator Smalley was elected through illegal votes, better to leave people disenfrachised rather than cast doubt upon the legitimacy of the election for that liberal wack-job.
The problem with that, is that historically all it did was replace one tyrant with another tyrant. Can we declare our Independence from DC?
I can see exactly why the ballot above was counted for Franken. He is a lizard person.
I think we need to keep hammering away. Eventually, the idea that the MSM is dead will slowly seep out into the larger population. The second reason for hammering away is to ensure the conservative community is informed and armed with the facts. Lastly, the media, when largely discredited, my take head.
I have a question that I've been afraid to ask. Here goes. If it is proven that Senator Al Franken has occupied the Senate on the basis of a fraudulent election does that nullify his votes?
I watch nothing on broadcast nothing. I have outlawed the family from having cbs nbc abc or affiliate cable channels tuned in. I don't give a rats azz what show is on. My family will not watch it on broadcast. tv. Fox is the news.
That's more of a two part as in 1) Does it nullify his votes Constitutionally speaking, and 2) Will they actually enforce it. http://econgressnow.com
'happy pills' flap, soon oCare will be handing them out in 5 gallon buckets, so that we may face our
We'll be a legion of laughing bobble-head dolls.
oRegime hardship with a smile,
Oh come on. Now you know very well that a vote for "Lizard People" meant a vote for Franken!
Is a "blackout" a racist thing?
Now that Obama has lost the votes of all Republicans, Independents, and conservative Democrats (all four of them), he has to build up a new base for the 2012 election. We now see what that will be, an alliance of convicted felons, parolees, illegal immigrants, ACORN members, SEIU and other union members, NAACP members, Islamic members of CAIR, Hamas, and Hezbollah here in the United States, and everyone making $10,000 or less per year. Yes, it's a winning alliance and it sure does represent the bulk of the United States electorate.
I think I'd rather lose than have supporters like that. Then again, I'm not Obama (thank God).
I bet the lizard people got more votes in reality. What a sham
Anyone have any idea about how popular Al Franken is in Minnesota right now? Any numbers?
MyKu:
So, convicts cast votes?
Once more, a dog bites a man
in Democrat Land.
"…allowing convicted felons to vote would have put Al Gore in the White House instead of George W. Bush."
Let that sentence rattle around in you mind for awhile………………ya, that's why I could NEVER BE a DEMOCRAT.
Democrats would HAPPILY take every last vote from every last degrenerate, crimial, reprobate, illegal "immigrant" or space alien – just to consolidate POWER. It's sickening and I can only pray I live long enough to see the criminals of the Democrat Party Poverty Plantation be marginallized.
Now that there is the scariest list I've seen by far! I fear it is incredibly accurate however. We ARE in for the fight of our lives……. The Census will have all the right numbers of newly found potential voters for the Dems to win any and all elections in the future for years… that also includes all the redistricting coming. I'm still going to tromp on whatever wrongdoing I see.
This doesn't surprise me one bit, but the fact that a third rate comic and a fool of a senator is sitting in congress, probably illegally, does make me pretty mad! Franken is a fool. But he does do good sketches…………
Let's not let the hubris and willfull ignorance of the far too many alleged adults in Minnesota that voted for Franken in enough numbers for the election to have even gotten that close be ignored. That so many voted for big whiney talentless Diaper Boy with his foul mouth and vacuous brain is appalling especially on the heels of his failed Air America gig where he left his creditors hanging.
Where are the grownups in this country? Seriously, look at the clown posse of politicians on every level in this country anymore and ask yourself how in the name of God voters can be so stupid? Senator Diaper Boy Franken is but a symptom.
Progressivism = Totalitarianism
they will continue to strip us of our rights until we VOTE them all out of office.
