I’ve been sifting through hundreds of emails, stories, reactions to Juan Williams’ sensational firing by NPR over his remarks on Bill O’Reilly’s show, covered on Big Journalism for the past 24 hours. I’ve also read Slate’s ridiculous comparison of Williams to Sherrod. Williams didn’t call everyone a racist and help bilk taxpayers of billions for unfounded claims, but hey.

Those defending NPR’s reactions say that Williams “smeared” Muslims and portrayed them in a bad light.
Does not a group of men hijacking planes and flying them into the World Trade Center killing over three thousand people in the name of Islam portray Islam in a bad light?
Does not men hijacking a plane to fly into the Pentagon in the name of Islam portray Islam in a bad light?
When individuals strap bombs onto their bodies and detonate in public thoroughfares, killing men, women, and precious innocent children, all in the name of Islam, does not that paint Islam in a bad light?
When men bomb the USS Cole in the name of Islam, does that not portray Islam in a bad light?
When a Chechen group terrorizes school childrenin Beslan in the name of Islam, does that not portray Islam in a bad light?
When men blow up discotheques in Malaysia in the name of Islam, does not that show Islam in a bad light?
When members of the CIA are murdered, in the greatest massacre in the organization’s history, by individuals in the name of Islam, does that not show Islam in a bad light?
When a man shoots up Ft. Hood in the name of Islam, does that not paint Islam in a bad light?
When men hijack a plane, the control of which is barely wrested away from them by brave American passengers before the plane crashes into a Pennsylvania field, leaving behind a scorch mark upon the earth for families to mourn – all in the name of Islam – does not that paint Islam in a negative light?
When the United Arab Emirates passes a law stating that it’s not domestic abuse to beat your wife just so long as she bears no bruises, that doesn’t paint Islam in a bad light?
When men are allowed to kill and abuse their wives, sisters, and young daughters for refusing marriage to much-older men chosen for them, that doesn’t paint Islam in a bad light?
And when televisions show people filling streets in cities across Pakistan, the Middle East, cheering the 9/11 attacks while people in our country mourned the smoking ashes of over 3,000 innocent victims, that doesn’t paint Islam in a bad light?
When the developers of the proposed Ground Zero Mosque refuse to not accept funds from Iran, a country which, according to our government, sponsors terrorism, that doesn’t shed a bad light on Islam?
But Juan Williams calling out the statistical occurrence of the above paints Islam in a bad light?
Those who suggest that the reactions of others to the events listed above somehow negatively impact the faith pass the buck on responsibility. Perhaps if we had more people who spoke out against these atrocities instead of defending by way of failing to criticize and attacking the people who call these acts out, this wouldn’t be a problem. Juan Williams wouldn’t have any remarks to make on the subject.
Political correctness, Frankenstein’s monster.

Islam does.
That is who really puts Islam in a bad light.
Radical Muslims are the ones shooting at US.
Moderate Muslims are calling in range coordinates.
Just once, I'd like to hear Ibrahim Hooper of CAIR (who got Williams fired) or Imam Rauf condemn Radical Islam; or Hezbollah, or Hamas. That will never happen, as the "Religion of Peace" would issue a Fatwah against them, and lop off their heads.
People best start facing facts, and calling a spade a spade.
Do it while there is still time, and a First Amendment; before they enact Sharia.
This is SO true..Muslims won't denounce those who commit terrorist acts and call for action but when someone outside the "religion" makes a comment they don't like about it….they DEMONIZE them. So hypocritical.
Juan… as much as I disagree (or agree) with your points sometimes… I'd like to personally welcome you to the Tea Party. Your experiencing, first hand, what the problem is with the left and the Left Wing Media…. the hypocrisy they engage in and the misunderstanding of what is being said. They just don't, can't or simply refuse to "get it" for some reason.
Now you know how we feel. We won't always agree but keep speaking your mind… it is welcome here.
Dana,
I believe you meant: "When the developers of the proposed Ground Zero Mosque DON'T refuse to accept funds from Iran,…."
When a film maker is killed on the street by a Muslim for making a film, that doesn't shed a bad light on Islam? When a death threat is issued on author Salman Rushdie for writing a book, that doesn't shed a bad light on Islam? When international riots and deaths result from publishing cartoons in Denmark, that doesn't shed a bad light on Islam?
When a you female cartoonist in Oregon (of all places) must go into "witness protection-like" hiding because she suggested standing up to the religion of cartoon haters, that doesn't shed a bad light on Islam? Because a Yale University published book on the Muslim cartoon incident cannot find the cajones to include a picture of the cartoon in the book for fear of reprisal from the religion of cartoon haters, that doesn't shed a bad light on Islam? Talk to Hirsi Ali, Geert Wilders, Mark Steyn, Tray Parker and ??, that doesn't shed . . . . .
Only when you've been indoctrinated in moral relativism, political correctness, and the incomprehensible evil and stupidity that is, and always will be liberalism, would you need a list of things like this to get the POINT. The religion of PEACE isn't very peaceful. Or tolerant. Or reasonable. Wake up America. We are teaching these villains just how stupid, cowardly, and docile we are with each successive cringe. Wake up. Stand Up! Grow UP! Only children and cowards can subscribe to the lemming-like tolerance that is being demanded. Courage and truth will save us, not tolerance and cowardice.
Imagine if Juan Williams really has spoken to a shrink over the last 10 years… NPR would have access to this information and is obligated to keep it secet right? Then the CEO goes out and slams him for it? Wow, I wonder how much of a lawsuit Juan would have, I believe in TORT reform and don't support these type of lawsuits but the law is the law. After spending so many years working at Fox and NPR I would venture to guess that anybody under those circumstances would have had to visit a shrink once or twice?
Great piece Dana, well done.
How is the Quran and Islam different than Progressives?
Both demonize anyone and anything against them. Both lie (Taqiyya) to promote ideologies. Both use violence to further their agenda. Both want to rule the world.
Yup, that pretty much sums it up.
Dana Loesch,
You know besides 9-11 what really did me in about Islam.. That was Beslan, honestly I can't think about it without wanting a beer. What those bastards did to those little school kids.. I did not think that level of hatred could exist in a man, I was wrong. Nobody really talk's anymore about that story or what really happened to those people. It seems where ever the Jihad goes there is only one thing for sure, body bags. Juan has the right to say that he is uncomfortable on a plane with a Muslim…. So am I and so is everyone else!! Thank god for people like you in the media attempting to stop this P.C. Bull.
Who puts islam in a bad light?
The list is endless, but for my money the worst is Nidal Malik Hasan.
If I understand correctly his name is arabic for "excrement".
"Radical Muslims are the ones shooting at US.
Moderate Muslims are calling in range coordinates."
Nobody has put it more clearly than that, Cowboy.
When a Muslim man in NY beheads his wife who left him after years of abuse, does that shed a bad light on Islam?
When a Muslim man in Texas murders his two teenage daughters because they had assimilated into American culture, does that shed a bad light on Islam?
Or how about when palestinians and other "moderate muslims" cheered in the streets on 9/11.
Several years ago a poll throughout the middle east showed a large portion, possibly half, believed suicide bombings were a legitimate form of political protest. The extremists commit the murders, the moderates cheer on the sidelines, the apostates are the ones that denounce terrorism.
"Refuse to not accept funds" means the same thing, although it sounds a bit awkward. Probably it would have been better to say, "When the developers of the proposed Ground Zero Mosque accept funds from Iran…does that not shed a bad light on islam?"
How many times have we seen John (If he won't show sovereignty to America, I'll do it for him.) demonstrate he's just as pathetic as any other Prog/Lib? It is true that once in a blue moon he trips over himself with a rational thought and my hand immediately checks my chest for a heartbeat but,…
Who did John think he was working for anyway?? (Rep. Doug Lamborn reported tonight that NPR receives $240 million dollars of taxpayer money per year!)
As for Muslims;

People best start facing facts, and calling a spade a spade.
Well put… I keep hoping for the tipping point were everyone finally "gets it". But with every instance like this… I have to wonder if there ever will be one.
Another of my concerns is… Why are they trying so hard to lose? Do they know something we don't? It's almost like they are handing us their heads on a silver platter.
Bring back the crusades! With unemployment worldwide at near record levels let's round up the disenfranchised and send them to the Middle east to reduce Islamic culture and claim their fortunes…or die trying!
In Islam moderate means human shield.
BTW… What give here? Is Juan Williams a Soros temper tantrum?
October 11, 2010, 8:38 am….. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/10/11/sor...
"Mr. Soros, a champion of liberal causes, has been directing his money to groups that work on health care and the environment, rather than electoral politics. Asked if the prospect of Republican control of one or both houses of Congress concerned him, he said: “It does, because I think they are pushing the wrong policies, but I’m not in a position to stop it. I don’t believe in standing in the way of an avalanche.”"
EVERYTHING puts Islam in a bad light. It can only flourish–even exist–in bass ackwards nations with no media, no way of exposing the garbage dump of Islam. The slightest bit of sunlight illustrates that it is no different than the bottom level of the average outhouse.
There should not have been a muslim left in America by about midnight on 9 11, the borders should have been sealed to prevent further pollution of the North American continent (as a Canadian, I would have welcomed the President saying that if Canada's gov't wouldn't do the mass deportation on their own, the US military would move in and do it for us).
Every problem in the geopolitical world today stems from Islam. Period.
Cowboy has a way with yelling "INCOMING"! Much appreciated Cowboy.
I used to go to a little restaurant that was run by a guy from Lebanon. He might have been Muslim, he might have been Christian, I don't know. He was a nice guy and made great cinnamon rolls.
I suspect that the vast majority of people who subscribe to Islam are nice people. The problem isn't the people. The problem is Islam.
It also means "collateral damage, example, infidel, justifiable homicide, stones throw, and target" in the radical Islamic thesaurus.
It is way past time for NPR to be defunded. I say this as a former employee of two NPR stations. Even though I was a conservative, somehow I slipped through the cracks and hosted the local segments of Morning Edition (and, at one point, All Things Considered) for several years, only to be laid off when state funding was cut.
It was cleansing. I had actually been opposed to taxpayer money going to boost NPR and its affiliates… but I'd been a broadcaster for years, and there were no viable commercial radio jobs available in my area.
NPR stations frequently have the best equipment, the most expensive studios and the nicest facilities in radio. Many small commercial stations these days struggle for every penny, because their streams of revenue are very limited. But NPR has its contributing members, underwriters (another word for commercials), grants from numerous sources, and state and federal money.
When the Republicans win back the house, they need to immediately move to defund NPR. And PBS. There's no need for the government to prop these entities up any longer.
I guess only the folks in this world that have survivalist instincts….Juan being one of them….has that sinking feeling when they enter a plane and see a Muslim dressed in his/her garb. I know it does it for me….now whether or not that is an extremist with ill intent – I can never really know unless something happens. But this one thing I know, I am wondering, "Is this the day I meet my Creator?" Should I be punished for my instinct to question? My instinct and desire to live? My God, we are humans…..except for the leftist extremists who are blindly more concerned about the PC mentality out there…..eff it I say!
Had Juan Williams made the same exact remark about Christians, it wouldn't have even registered as a bleep on NPR's (Nihilistic Puke Radio's) radar screen!
The worldwide problem is stupid psychotics blindly following a system designed to take over control which hides behind a religious mask. But, lets let the history of actions of Islam prove this fact;
What Islam Isn't By Dr. Peter Hammond http://tinyurl.com/62dxdg
National socialist Progressive Radio MUST be defunded. NOW.
Stalin used to have a certain number of completely innocent people tortured and killed despite the fact that they posed no threat to the Soviet Union. He did it to keep everyone afraid. In a system with known rules you can stay out of trouble by adhering to them, but where punishment is wholly arbitrary people don't know what to do.
I think Williams was a victim of PC terror intended to frighten all leftists from straying off the reservation.
Imagine you're a leftist working for some leftist organization and you have at times expressed some non PC thoughts, not wild ones like praising the free market or saying that Reagan was a good president, but something fairly innocuous like disapproving of ACORN's willingness to help people set up underage brothels. After seeing what happened to Williams are you likely to repeat your non-PC statements?
Let's take stock, shall we? NPR, CAIR, SOROS, and every liberal assclown in America wanted to shut Juan Williams up. Now he THE 24/7 news story. He has a new contract with FOX for much more money. He will now be on FOX a great deal more than he has in the past and may even end up with his own show. Wow! I guess they really put him in his place. LOL. Libtards……. be careful what you wish for.
I rarely agree with Juan, but he always seems sincere and clearly articulates his opinions.
I have always respected that.
It is truly a shameful thing to see Juan Williams get Lib-Bagged.
Who puts Islam in a bad light? I believe it all started with guy named Muhammad…………….
Isalm is an interesting and scary subject if you understand it.
Apparently in Sweden they do…..
1,700,000 hits on this youtube. "Three Things About Islam" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib9rofXQl6w
Now that Williams got a new gig at Fox I hope he goes after NPR and CAIR. Geller is doing a respectable job of exposing CAIR, but she doesn't have the muscle (yet?) of Fox. But then again, Fox is partially owned by a Saudi prince and he might reign in a CAIR expose'. NPR is another matter and with the Repubs back in control, they can go after NPR to either shape up by getting rid of the liberals that have invested it or better yet, eliminate it and use the money to pay down the debt. I'd prefer the latter.
You know, I find the whole situation paints the truest picture of left vs. right in America. The left villifies one of their own for speaking his mind, and practicing his 1st amendment rights. The right jumps to defend this "leftist" journalist, because he is fair, and is willing to honestly engage in factual, intelligent discourse with the right. Then, Fox gives him a $2million contract. Good. While I may disagree with his viewpoints, I think Fox did the right thing in picking him up, simply to show EXACTLY how fair and balanced they are, and that simply reinforces their argument that they are a neutral news network, and not simply a "right-wing nutjob" network.
Just goes to show who the REAL tolerant party truly is.
Oh, and BTW, they fired their ONLY black journalist. RACISTS!!!!!!!!!
It's the same world where HRC wasn't far enough left to be the dhimmicrat party's nominee for president two years ago.
There have been 16,256 Deadly Islamic Terror attacks worldwide since 9/11. There are 16,256 reasons why Islam sheds a bad light on itself.
Enough, already. Stand up, and say NO MORE!!!. We do not WANT, NEED or CARE for muslim sensitivity or feelings. Fix your own fucking religion, and IF your co-religionists stop blowing themselves up for Allah, then we will begin to call you human beings.
Ain't it sort of funny though… seeing the strings get all tangled up at the Soros puppet show? They deserve an Oscar… or maybe even a Nobel for this one.
And it's ending with a guy named Soros.
Oh Man! You're gonna make me believe in reincarnation!
Well, everybody is afraid of Islamic radicals. Now we're afraid of being attacked by NPR, too.
I think I know, but why is the left so hardened to helping the terrorists? They have done everything they can to help terrorists — this is so not normal.
Dana, all those people you mention are simply misunderstood. It's too bad the people that report on them are the ones who misunderstand.
it says death to infedels (non believers in islam) in the koran islam is a religion of hate and terrorism they use the koran to justify everything they do they think it's their right to kill innocent people.
Islam doesn't need any help being put in a bad light. They do a fine job all by themselves !!
Dana, I can sense that the Islamists think they have hit paydirt with Obama, and that they feel that they have a green light to proceed as quickly as they can to impose sharia, and every aspect of domination.
as this point- there will soon be murderous examples made of freedom-loving leaders here and elsewhere to foment terror and fearful acquiessence.
They have the Left as their gatekeepers, who consider the Muslims a useful subversive group, and are providing opportunity and financing for their subjugation of America.
The more things change, the more the koranimals stay the same.
They're unfit & unwilling to progress due to their belief in a failed book, from a failed time, who's leader was the embodiment of evil & they're doomed once again to repeat more failures from its' past that it cannot avoid yet again. It's simply illogical to imply that there's another option to consider than what they're presenting to Western Civilization as the only viable solution to islam's cycle of frustration, manipulation of its' history & its' demand to do it once more for evils sake. Maddened through inbreeding, foaming at societies progress while they shake with hatred in their suadi-funded madrassas, we look on as they present themselves as rabid rats, filled with a plague called islam. Their presence is testimony to the koran's failure in the world which spans 1400 years of murder & destruction that has left over 270 million people dead. We have an obligation to humanity & its' future. Their transgressions have surpassed our tolerance levels, as they're are unfit for the 21st century.
Nobody kills more muslims than other muslims.
LOL @ Loesch. The firing of Sanchez and Helen Thomas put Jews in a bad light.
I'm in trouble. Dana is so gorgeous and her smile so infectious that I'm afraid I'm ready to believe anything she says.
fortunately, the part of me in it's right mind knows that this is all true, but what a woman.
I missed the part where Juan said that if he seen someone in muslim garb on an airplane, that he would cut their head off, shove it down the barrel of a cannon and shoot it at the next muslim terrorist he sees……………
HA! Sometimes there IS justice…!
Um, what?
Dana, great job telling the PC Puppets a few home truths. Especially Beslan. There is no excuse in the universe for what those animals did.
My pet pig, Mohamed, "Peace be upon Him", cannot control his bowels or bladder whenever he passes a mosque. Is there anyone who can explain this to me?
Rushdie's "Satanic Verses" affair wasn't simply a matter of him being threatened. Several people involved in the publishing/translation of his book were either assassinated or very nearly so, and in Turkey Muslims surrounded and then torched a building, trying to kill a man involved in its publishing there.
Their target escaped, but dozens of other innocent people burned to death.
Edit – There was also a bomb detonated in a hotel he was staying at in England.
Name one organization putting Islam in a GOOD light?! CAIR isn't one, for sure.
Any trace of Sharia MUST be eradicated from our country.
What is it with the trolls and their non sequiturs lately?
It's not reincarnation…. Vampires just live very long lives.
And yet, it is the same left media, together with DHS, that never fail to try and tie Timothy McVeigh to the largely imaginary right-wing militias, that the left is convinced are part of the Tea Party.
I really wish that I tuned in to NPR more just so I could boycott it.
It is deliciously ironic that NPR feels no compunction over violating their own standards not only on evaluating job performance, but how to treat individuals, and this, not from some capitalist, but from the very people who crawl to the government for money. So, can we call this censorship, since government money is involved?
Or at the very least, let them take back what Muslims stole from Christians hundreds of years ago. I mean, if Muslims really want to get into a claim of prior ownership, Egypt, Lebanon, and all of the Middle East were Christian long before they were Islamic. So you could argue that "we" were just taking back what belonged to "us" — to use their own collectivist mindset against them.
The whole Juan Williams story is what I would call a distraction.
Everyone knows he was fired because he sits next to Krauthammer.
You've got that right.. Why do you think they want a 15 story Mosque near ground zero? They point to the Mosque in the basement, the restaurants, a library, museum, and a few gyms and recreation areas. When they are asked about the other 10 floors, they just smile. It's going to be a Sharia law lobbying and study center, staffed by hundreds of Muslim lawyers and lobbyists – with the goal of implementation of Sharia law in the U.S.
NPR just can't stand conservative cooties.
Well Said!
Radical Muslims attack and kill. Moderate Muslims condone by their silence and continue to provide money. You are known by the company you keep and it appears few "MODERATE MUSLIMS" do anything but provide silent support. SHAME ON THEM.
To go along with this discussion: "The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion." http://www.amazon.com/Truth-About-Muhammad-Intole...
"I think NPR acted stupidly. Time for a Wine Summit." Obama
It may be true that the majority of Muslims are peaceful, non violent, people who do not directly support terrorist acts. However, I can't get past the feeling that when there is a successful attack against the infidels ( that's us) that they smile a little inside and whisper Allah Akbar to themselves. The destruction or conversion of infidels is at the core of their beliefs after all, and let's face it, their not exactly lining up to condemn these acts of terrorism or the belief system behind them. In this country you are considered innocent until proven guilty. When you look at Muslim activities around the world, It seems to me that the evidence supporting their complicity is overwhelming and they offer very little in their own defense.

And the problem with Islam is……Islam.

Main-stream Media with finger in ears: "La la la la la la la la….."
Maybe they think it's cool to make as idiotically irrelevant comments as possible. They must high-five each other for coming up with the stuff.
Wow! My comment wasn't against Dana. It was against the MSM idiots who can't see the forest from the trees.
It is one thing to respect religious beliefs as a matter of principal but Islam is both a religion and a political philosophy. It just so happens that the political philosophy element of Islam is totalitarian and repudiates the western concept of liberty. If for the sake of polite political discourse and to avoid the elevation of animosity, we should avoid denigrating Islam as a religion even though I find it largely repugnant, and instead focus our criticism on Sharia as the totalitarian anti-western philosophy that it embodies, then we may be able to make some progress with some of the ill informed lefties that are drawn to totalitarianism like insects to a bright light.
After 12/07/41 Americans held the Japanese in a bad light. Was it 'Radical Japanese' that attacked Pearl Harbor? I believe the Brits and the French, along with Americans were likewise po'ed at the Germans during the '40s. Did Hitler command a few 'Radical Germans'? When the Nation of Islam condones an attack on our soil, then yeah, we get a bad vibe from that people as a whole. Get used to it.
