P/oed Patriot first broke the story of a reported sexual assault case which took place at the Occupy St. Louis encampment in downtown Keiner Plaza on November 8th:
According to the St. Louis Police website crime map, at 3:55 PM at the corner of North 7th Street and Market (the exact location of Kiener Plaza where Occupy St. Louis was camped out) a Sexual Offense occurred.
Why did this take ten days to make it to the mainstream media? Media tried to smear the tea party when they couldn’t find controversy, but this goes unreported for ten days?
Sharp Elbows interviewed St. Louis Police Sgt. Gary Wiegert who said he personally felt that the city’s mayor could have prevented this from happening:
CBS affiliate KMOV Channel 4 reported on the story this evening:
ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) — A woman participating in the OccupySTL protest reported to police that a man sexually assaulted her while she was in her tent last Tuesday, three days before tents were removed by the city. A St. Louis City police officer says the mayor could have prevented it.
Brian E. King, 38, was charged with first degree sexual misconduct after police said he crawled into the victim’s tent and touched her breast. The assault happened on November 8 at the encampment that used to be set up in Kiener Plaza.
[...]
The mayor’s chief of staff says that Wiegert’s accusations are all about politics, and the staff points out that St. Louis did not have problems like other cities.
Occupy member John Mills says that crimes happened before the occupation, and the perpetrator in this case was not a regular participant. He does not think it should reflect on their movement.
The assault occurred at the protest and it would not have occurred had the protest not occurred. Mills can’t say for certain that the perpetrator isn’t a “regular participant.” So he’s kind of a participant? Mills stated that King isn’t a “regular participant” which suggests King had participated before. The words of Occupy St. Louis’s own organizer refutes the defense offered by its group on Twitter that King was “only tied by location.” The group insists that the press, which hadn’t reported on the assault for ten days, is also somehow “smearing” them over the actions of an “unregular” participant.
There’s already been fighting at this event; the fact that their numbers are smaller compared to the attendance in other cities has prevented the vandalism and violence, aside from the hacking of Mayor Slay’s website and the reported threat to Principia College. The city can’t exactly take credit for that; Slay’s office did little to discourage the encampment and even offered the group a “free permit,” something not offered to the tea party group which demonstrated there a year earlier under threat of a canceled event by the city should they not procure a permit or insurance.
The news report also mentions that Sgt. Wiegert acts as an unpaid lobbyist for the St. Louis Tea Party Coalition, something used to invalidate his criticism. Progressives like the military when they falsely claim police used rubber bullets on them in response to their rioting, but any other time they spit on and throw things at them. Since Sgt. Wiegert is not part of their movement, he is discounted.
Since KMOV reported this Occupystl attacked them on Twitter, accusing them of “pandering” to me simply because I’m in the media, discussed it on my radio show (KMOV and my flagship station are two media entities in the same city), and publicly @’ed me on Twitter with a link to their story while I was on air. The Occupy group seems more outraged over this than over the fact that a crime against a woman occurred at their event in the first place. Figure that one out.

This SOP for the ruling Democrat elite. That's why they need to be turned out of office in 2012. If we don't clean-out these vermin we will loose our liberty sure as the sun rising the day after election day.
Well, I'm surprised they reported it at all. The MSM is still looking for "proof" that the Tea Party is racist, terrorists, hobbits who are holding the country hostage and toting their guns around – being violent and destructive with those American Flags and Gadsden Flags
Not a regular participant in OWS, just an occasional participant, I'm guessing.
Cities should not be charging a group for the purpose of Assembly. If the law is to charge for a permit, the mayor broke the law.
the perpetrator in this case was not a regular participant.
I imagine it's hard to stay regular when there aren't enough cop cars around to crap on when you need to go.
Crawling into a tent and copping a feel is S.O.P. for hippies.
Jeff Rainford, Slay's Chief of Staff: "Things have gone so well here that in the national news stories, there's not even a mention of St. Louis…and so, this is obvious politics, he's (Weigert) a Tea Party guy. I don't even think he reflects the Tea Party's point of view. I think he's such an extremist that he only represents himself."
Ok, so the perpetrator was arrested and faces a first degree sexual misconduct charge, but Rainford claims that since the national news never mentioned it, nothing happened. It's that simple. He says it's obviously about politics, Sgt. Weigert is clearly an extremist who only represents himself and not the Tea Party, whom everyone knows is clearly on the record as being in favor of sexual assault on women.
This is Slay's confidant. His Chief Of Staff. Unbelievable.
Any effort to tear down these "occupy" people is being coordinated by the Democrats.
They know that it didn't work as they had hoped it would and now they are the ones who are doing the mopping up.
The Democrats know that the longer this "occupy" crap goes on that the connection to Obama will hurt his chances of being reelected next year.
The Democrats will do their best to blame the Republicans for the crackdown on the "occupy" people, but anyone who is paying attention, like me, will not be fooled.
The Consensus Media is just hastening it`s own death.Fine by me.
The thing that really bothers me in all this ,is the racist comments against the Tea Party.
If someone spit on a Congressman (untrue as it may be) the entire movement is racist.
What's even more troubling is the false incident occurred during a "rub their faces in it" walk after Healthcare Bill was passed. How do you think OWS will react when budget cuts are made in 2013 ? I'm assuming riot gear will be used.
Is this a rhetorical question?
They were trying to figure out how to blame it on Palin, Bush, Cheney, Rove, The Tea Party, Big Oil, Global Warming, etc.
Democrats are great at thinking up ideas that circumvent the system and yet gain their points e.g. motor voter laws-make it easy for everyone to vote or do not stop anyone from voting is the scam and the result is illegal voting; OWS is an honorable group, they say,so these thugs announce "we will police our area and keep the pigs out" while actually encouraging pot smoking, heroin use, rapes, and destruction of property in their "secure area. Why do fools like Bloomberg continue to fall for this ploy?
These people are not assembling. They are CAMPING OUT.
My sources have informed me that there was an Investigation investigation to determine wether or not there was an actual Rape rape. Did I mention I havent profited from any inside trading information that I have absolutely no knowledge of?
Former POTUS Second worst President donated $ so that OWS could hire Prositutes to service the Rapists. I'm no Genius but isn't Rape a crime of Violence not sexual desire?
Deviant,Bums,Anachaists,…. Greed, Sloth, Envy…..
what a coincidence that NONE of the violence and NONE of the sexual attacks and NONE of the craziness at ANY of the occupy dealios was committed by a 'regular' occupy..uh, representative.
does anybody else find this a little hard to believe? and what does it say about leftists that they are USING the homeless as the fall guy for everything that happens? pigressivism runs amok.
Answer to the headline…Because they are incompetent and not really reporters.
I see it as a great illustration of the decadence of the OWS, the Progressive Left and the "newsmen." Are we surprised that someone affiliated with the TEA Party is the only one concerned with protecting people and is willing to come forward with facts to protect humans from predatory humans?
They were begging the small govt factions to get on down there. They intended to use THEM.
The ones that get tossed in jail should be fined for city clean up. If they can't bother with manners, such as cleaning up after themselves, then they can pay for the bad manners. But the mayor broke the law by not requiring them to pay for a permit, since it's a law.—
Apparently "conservatives" only like the Constitution when it allows them to discuss their point of view. Meanwhile, someone else's peaceful protest is damaging to society? Business as usual I guess.
Care to explain the difference to this Constitutional law student? Expressive speech in general, and camping out specifically, has been upheld as constitutional by the courts. Although public health concerns can trump the First Amendment is extreme cases, it's an incredible stretch to suggest the Occupy St. Louis crowd was a threat to the public welfare.
Regardless, we should error on the side of liberty and the Constitution rather than on the side of government as you have done.
I am on the side of government??? oh not EVEN!! I simply do not believe these people are assembling for a purpose other than to be seen. The government in general can take a flying leap as far as I am concerned and we can go BACK to the Constitution.
The report of the black mob of violence against an elderly white male that Mayor Slay witnessed was also sanitized. Mayor Slay, his police driver, and the media did not mention the groups race. Mayor Slay was not much help to the victim. It sounds to me from the interview that Slay and his police driver just witnessed the attack and took no kind of action. What is wrong with that picture? The policeman should be armed and they do have access to a radio as well as their cell phones. So, why did they not take aggressive action to go after the perpetrators? Remember, Slay wants City Control over the police department. Is this the type of protection the citizens can expect if they do get control of the STLPD?
Raping anyone isn't protesting it's a Violent Crime.By the way are you completely out of your Moral mind not to have compassion on the victim!
But we can only return to the Constitution if we support it regardless of whose rights are being protected. My point is, whether we agree with the OWS protesters or not, their First Amendment rights to free speech and peaceful assembly are under attack. Thus, the suggestion that police should swoop in and arrest them is an argument for an unconstitutional example of big government.
Good try, but the open sewage, physical violence, and lewd acts kind of put the whole "peaceable assembly" title away from them.
What is journalism?
Oh yeah, something the LSM is not doing.
Dana Loesch is lying as usual: http://danabusted.blogspot.com/2011/11/loesch-whi...
jgibson is here to stalk Dana Loesch AGAIN with his blog no one but himself cares about. By the way, how is Dana Loesch whining? If anyone is whining it's you, is it because Dana makes things happen which you never can?
