A lot of pigs have been taking to the air since Scott Brown’s historic — maybe this time the word actually means something — win in the Massachusetts special election for “Teddy Kennedy’s seat” on Tuesday night. The balance of power has tilted a bit, legislation that looked inevitable a few months ago is stalled, and Obama’s magic touch is gone. Look at them little porkers fly!
Yes, Paul Krugman — the prize-winning but apparently utterly humorless “progressive” Princeton economist who once boasted that he got “money calls” from Enron before Enron went, you know, pork-belly up — has apparently soured on Obama over health-care reform.
In his “Conscience of a Liberal” blog on the New York Times’s website tonight, he writes, “He Wasn’t the One We’ve Been Waiting For” –
…I have to say, I’m pretty close to giving up on Mr. Obama, who seems determined to confirm every doubt I and others ever had about whether he was ready to fight for what his supporters believed in.
Look for hell to freeze over next.

Just for the record, there is no such thing as a Nobel Prize for Economics.
There is however, this: The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel
But that's beside the point. Paul Krugman has gone completely bit-shat crazy. And an economist he is not, since his solution to every problem that has ever faced mankind is for the US Gov't to spend more money.
Not to mention that Krugman's beef with Obama is that he's not crushing the people's will fast enough.
To be clear, Krugman is pissed off that Obama has not governed from the extreme left.
Which says much about Krugman, considering the majority of America thinks Obama IS governing from the extreme left.
Obama has decided to ally himself with some very radical people & their policy of the Chicago Way, you think what they have been trying to pull on America is rough, wait & see what they do to Obama when he fails them in THEIR agenda.
Side Note: Sometimes the how people say things tell you more than what they are saying, with that, I've noticed a lot more people are referring to BO as Mr. Obama & not President Obama or the President. A sign that they are finding out that their messiah is a false prophet?
Obama is closer to being a Reagan conservative than a Progressive (read Liberal) according to Krugman.
"Mr. X" is standard NY Times style on second reference and thereafter. Everyone mentioned in the Times gets the honorific, except convicted felons, who are on second reference called only by their last names.

I've noticed it a lot in the way everyday people have been speaking, as well. Before December it was the more formal "the President" on the second reference. Now I hear more, a lot more, "Mister" throughout, completely dropping the title "President" altogether, as well as, just referring to him as Obama and, outside of blogging, that is usually showing disrespect around here.
Paul Krugman's NY Times column often appears in Boulder, CO's Daily Camera….you only have to read it once to realize PK is an IDIOT! But so is most of the rest of the Camera's opinion page..Most of the Boulder liberals are educated way beyond their intelligence…lots of "trust funded" PhDs there proves my point!

I was raised on a farm. I explain socialism like this: socialists come to my farm to take what they deem can be better used for somebody else(with a big payoff for themselves first). First they take some of the milk, then they take more, then they take the cow! But of course they have no idea how to care for a cow or milk it and don't like to work, so milk production stops and they eat the cow. Believing that we can borrow and spend ourselves into prosperity is, well, like eating the cow!
I’m sorry, but the only reason progressives are turning on Obama is because Obama has turned out to be horrible at selling their policies to the American people. They aren’t abandoning Obama because Obama somehow doesn’t fit the “progressive” mold anymore. And the progressives do not suddenly “care” about the voter.

Krugman is ‘calling out’, to use an Obama term, the president because he does not think he is being sufficiently hard line in pushing the socialist/marxist government dictated programs Krugman supports.
The majority of BOs supporters have bought into–for lack of better term–the propaganda that redistribution is "compassionate." The die-hards honestly believe that they are being a force for compassionate change. In other words, BOs supporters aren't thinking; they are believing.
History, of course, tells a different story as does even the most cursory look at the economics. But why let the facts get in the way of emotion?
This is the same Krugman who authored a syndicated column I saw last week about how Europe's Socialist Democracies are indeed economically viable? Doesn't he realize that this current debacle called a government is likely his best chance short of internal hostile takeover for his Eurotopia to materialize?
The Progressives are just reminding Obama that there are plenty of other presidential candidates to find out there. All they care about is the agenda – the ends justify the means. No single politician is larger than the movement. If he is not producing for them, they will not hesitate to knock him down a peg or eight and jump on his remains a few times just to make sure he gets the point. The agenda is everything. Pelosi said, "one way or another, we will have health care." Does this strike you as someone concerned about their career? Or someone whose entire life has been dedicated to the movement? They are so close to real, lasting power in America, they will not let it go. They will kill the cow to get the milk.
Krugman's Nobel was as well-deserved as Obama's and given for the same reasons. Call it the Obama pre-award. In 2008, the Committee dug up what admittedly was a fairly good paper on the mathematics of a very, very obscure little corner of trade policy…. which happened to have been co-authored by the Obama campaign's economic advisor. So trot out the bling! Obamanomics was now endorsed by a Nobel Laureate! Instant faux-credibility.
And, yes, Krugman is a ranting lunatic, his opinions (and I emphasize *opinions*) somewhere between hyper-Keynesian and Fabian.
The spoiled-brat Left naturally are abandoning Obama, they want their Free Unicorns and they wnat them Now! But didn't the snotty adolescents reflect at the time that just maybe an empty suit with no discernable qualifications whatsoever might not be a reliable unicorn-provider?
Has Krugman ever had a real job? Has he ever run any kind of profit-oriented operation about which he so glibly opines? Has he ever had to make a payroll on Friday when cash was short on Thursday, tied up in as yet uncollected receivables and inventory that hadn't yet been processed and sold?
It's guys like Krugman who sold the government a bill of goods on free trade, without any caveats such as: "Your trading partners have to play by the rules also." Millions of solid American manufacturing and now service jobs have wandered overseas to line the pockets of WTO rules breakers at the urging of so many of these eggheads who never ran a business before and never met a Kumbaya policy they didn't like.
For one, I'm not heartened by Krugman's abandonment of Obama. The more stupid smart advisors he has, the more likely it is that he'll be replaced in 2012. It may be time for a Constitutional Amendment requiring any advisors to the President to have actually worked in the real world at the same things on which they advise the President. A little does of reality could save us from these economists' relentless, otherworldly, "stylized fact"-laden X-Y axes.

This is a serious question. Apple probably created well over $300 billion in wealth for Americans in the last five years. By the end of 2010 the federal government will have created $7 trillion in additional debt in that time ($4-$4.5 trillion projected in the first 24 months of the current administration). Let's also be frank, no less than 75% of that increase in debt was for civilian spending. So which creates more economic freedom: wealth creation or indebtedness?

Krugman is a deluded intellectual who just now is catching up to what intelligent people have known all along: Obama was a neophyte hack steeped in the Chicago way of governing. So now he's becoming disillusioned that a man who had no credentials is in over his head. Wake up, Krugman, and get a brain! The fact that Krugman is a Nobel-prize winner is in itself enough to discredit him. That award has long since lost any relevance in peace and literature, and retains very little. I have my doubts that Obama will last through one term. When the Democrats wake up to what a debacle his presidency is turning into, they will find some excuse–the Soetero–Occidental College duplicity, for instance instance–to throw him under the bus and let Joe Biden finish his term.
