The blogosphere is abuzz with speculation about the real identity of the strange and wonderfully timely “Ellie Light,” President Obama’s No. 1 fan and apparently the owner of more residences than Donald Trump, John McCain and John Kerry combined. Not to mention an indefatigable letter writer.
With Obama slumping in the polls, and reduced to more campaign-style appearances in front of friendly audiences in lieu of, you know, actually governing, the ethereal Ms. Light has taken pen in hand on multiple occasions to support her (?) fading Hope:

A year ago, if we had read in the paper that employers were hiring again, that health care legislation was proceeding without a bump, that Afghanistan suddenly became a nice place to take your kids, we would’ve known we were being lied to. Back then, we recognized that the problems Obama inherited as president wouldn’t go away overnight.
But today, the president is being attacked as if he were a salesman who promised us that our problems would wash off in the morning. He never made such a promise. It’s time for Americans to realize that governing is hard work, and that a president can’t just wave a magic wand and fix everything.
Why would anyone think Obama had a magic wand? It’s not as if he’s ever made any extravagant promises:
Happily, as per Ms. Light, things are just hunky-dory for Obama just one excruciatingly long year after his inauguration (although, thinking back, the auguries for that were bad). And it’s not as if he’s had to reach out to dance once more with what brung him to all those Inaugural Balls, golf games and Hawaiian vacations.
All of which makes Ellie Light’s sudden epistolary outburst all the more puzzling. As Patrick Frey (Patterico) asks:
A woman has written the same letter defending Obama to dozens of publications across the country, getting them published in at least 42 newspapers in 18 states, as well as politico.com, the Washington Times, and USA Today. And the woman, Ellie Light, has claimed residence in many of these states.

Ellie Light is a most intriguing and interesting phenomenon, to be sure.
These folks have no conpunctions when it comes to crossing any line, real, or imagined. They, being the lowest of the low, continue to sink to new levels, on a daily basis.
Anita Dunn and Van Jones have been banished from the Majik Kingdom, but bear closer inspection. I've posted some of my thoughts on the identity of Ellie Light on another board this morning, but I'll share my thoughts here as well.
I believe Ellie Light is a journalist by the name of Samantha Power. The meaning of the name ellie is light. An Ellie is also a national magazine award which Ms. Power won in 2005 for a piece in New Yorker magazine, entitled Dying in Darfur.
She worked for Senator Barack Obama and then on his presidential campaign before she was forced to resign for referring to Hillary Clinton as a monster.
While there, she met then later married Cass Sunstein who works in the Obama administration as Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs .
While at Harvard Law School, Sunstein co-wrote a truly pernicious paper proposing that the U.S. Government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-"independent" advocates to "cognitively infiltrate" online groups and websites.
In addition to this , the latin word, Lucifer, means bearer of light. Saul Alinsky, in Rules for Radicals, dedication is to Lucifer.

I find it equally amazing that MULTIPLE newspapers printed the letters.
One usually has to submit 10 – 50 letters to get even one published, yet 'Ellie Light' somehow found a way to get published as easily as a normal newswire story in 40+ newspapers?. Something tells me the MSM was in on this from the get go – and it makes you wonder how many other tyimes this might have happened.

Well, you have to admire thier creativity. So far there is no evidence that this is being co-ordinated from the White House or anything else. It could be the ramblings of just someone with too much time on thier hands? It is suspicious that all these letters were published but until I have more facts I will reseve judgement. If it can be proven there is linkage to the White House or an official Arm of the Democrat Party then all this proves is that they are really desperate.

"Ms" Ellie Light might be an homage to Samantha Powers who won the Ellie Award for an article about Darfur…by her husband, Cass Sunstein, head of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.
Sunstein believes a number of things.
1) He believes in "availability cascades". The promotion of an idea that gains acceptance because of its surface acceptability and peer pressure, not because of merit.
2) He is the consummate "anti-tea party" advocate. He believes we should celebrate tax day.
3) He believes and advances FDR"s Second Bill of Rights, promoting nationalized health care, among other things.
4) He believes the Internet is an instrument that stands to weaken democracy by cyber balkanization.
5) He believes in the "Nudge" theory…people are too stupid to make decisions for themselves about health care, the environment, money management.
6) He proposes that the government recognition of the institution of marriage be abolished.
7) He believes in the government infiltration of blogs, chat rooms, infusing in them the seeds of doubt on any position that the government disagrees with, or finds potentially damaging to their worldview.
This is not to say that there is evidence that Sunstein or any of his staff indeed created the fictional creature "Ms. Ellie (Award) Lite". It IS consistent with beliefs, convictions, strategy and tactics advocated, published and argued, however.
For example, sending out the exact same apologia to several dozen "like-minded" entrenched media outlets, to "nudge" people into the "right" belief…through the use of "government operatives" infiltrating the debate…sure seems consistent with the ideas advocated.
In the final analysis, it doesn't matter if it originated there or simply followed those concepts. The net end result is the same. And…if you are not too stupid to think for yourselves…you can decide whether you like those ideas and concepts…or you don't.

After the Coakley debacle, the Global Warming meltdown, the Air America evaporation and the First Amendment defense by the Supreme Court…a call of desperation went out to Plouffe to come back and help regain the leg tingles from those heady days of the campaign.

My name is Ellie Light, and I am an individual amazed at the lack of support offered for President Obama, especially by people of his own party, by people who worked very hard to elect him. By design, this email will land in the in-boxes of Obama’s opponents, and I’ve got to hand you one thing. You guys know a thing or two about loyalty. When President Bush became unpopular for his decisions, you guys stood by him. When Trent Lott and Delay told the pro-lifers and school-prayer folks to put a cork in it, because “now is not the time,” you did as you were told. And no sarcasm intended, because it was good for the GOP to show some loyalty. We Dems appear to have zero. Take the Guantanamo decision. Obama promised he’d close it. What about the prisoners? Do we ship ‘em back to their country of origin? Do we force them on a particular US state? Anyone with a brain would realize that there are many steps between stating the intention of closing it, and sending the prisoners on thier way. But count on us Dems to start calling “Liar, Liar.” Oh, and of course, we Democrats are the same people who complain about the growing power of the Executive Branch, pointing out that ever since Nixon, the President’s war-making power, and over-reaching Executive privilege have increased. But yet, we Democrats complain the loudest that the President lacks what it takes do the things he promised, at least not fast enough. You know. Do them right now. Before my coffee gets cold and I have to change the TV station. Speaking of TV, that “put the cameras in the health care debate” attack was another self-defeating move. The American people were told this past February that if Congress passes a $787 billion dollar 'stimulus' bill, unemployment would not rise above 8%. Guess what. It's over 10% and climbing. The federal government does not 'create' jobs. It may throw money at government agencies that 'hire' people to work within that agency but it comes at the expense of the actual job creators in the private sector.
Fact is, lowering taxes for everyone, across the board including corporations, people keep more of what they 'earn' and corporations can go on with the business of hiring and investing in their companies. It's not all that hard to figure out but with Barry's social engineering and redistribution of wealth schemes. the private sector is getting choked out of existence. do a people search on the name….I came up with 3 listings and none matched the cities given by the supposed writer….hmmmm of course "Ellie" could be a niick name. I had a girl friend in HS whose name was Eleanor but everyone called her "Ellie"…something definitely fishy here….
i've written my fair share of letters to the editor over the years- somewhere between a dozen & twenty, i suppose- and so far i'm batting 1.000 on getting them published. that's right, every single one i've ever bothered to write has made it into print. over the years i've come to be acquainted with a few of the editors and they've all told me how starved they are for well-written, well-thought out letters of ANY political persuasion- i guess my cutting conservative/libertarian restrained rants fit the bill.
howver, having said that- the other thing i've noticed is that 100% of the time, the paper in question WILL call to confirm who i am, where i live, etc. the odds that this letter just happened to find its way into 42+ papers without some insidious assistance from the left media bias is implausible on its face. there's no friggin' way an anti-Obambi letter would have been published so frequently.
I'd speculate that whoever is behind Ellie Light has a wicked sense of humor.

Yes. But I don't think there's a coordinated effort by all these particular newspapers. Maybe I'm giving the coordinated Left too much credit, but I don't think they'd use use the same name if they were bothering to give different addresses. I think it's someone testing the system with a "sting." See how many newspapers will print a letter to the editor that is unverifiable yet well-written and expresses a point of view that the editorial page already has. Then let the New Media go to work gathering and sharing the info, speculating, and most of all realizing that newspapers will compromise themselves to share opinions they agree with AND this sort of astroturfing can be done. Then, why wouldn't we diligent info-gatherers in the New Media think to go look for other 'turf letters and opinions, in Old and New Media? It certainly seems like the perfect story for Big Journalism to cover. This is currently my own favorite conspiracy theory.

THIS president/congress could cut all taxes across the board tomorrow, but the impact of that move would still be blunted by the fact that most people in the productive class don't trust this government. This is a crisis of confidence. It's nothing new. Haven't you ever heard Limbaugh's riffs on words the media use. He had a particularly hilarious one with a couple of dozen "reporters and pundits" using the word, gravitas, as something Bush lacked prior to the 2000 election. I've seen the same thing done on headlines and writers using the exact same words.

Every comment that is not Pro-Obama is responded to by this commentator with the lead in "WHAT YOU MEANT TO SAY " followed by anti-Bush or anti-republican vitriol. It seems the thing is on the job this weekend.
