Did you believe in “Hope?” Millions of American obviously did, including 99 percent of the media, as they elected Barack Hussein Obama II the 44th President of the United States in the fall of 2008.
Despite the loss of “Teddy Kennedy’s seat” in Massachusetts, the collapse of “health-care reform” and really ugly poll numbers, some members of the official Media Cheerleading Squad apparently still do, and nothing to the contrary is going to convince them otherwise. Here’s Frank Rich over the weekend in the New York Times, head still firmly in the sand:
It was not a referendum on Barack Obama, who in every poll remains one of the most popular politicians in America. It was not a rejection of universal health care, which Massachusetts mandated (with Scott Brown’s State Senate vote) in 2006. It was not a harbinger of a resurgent G.O.P., whose numbers remain in the toilet. Brown had the good sense not to identify himself as a Republican in either his campaign advertising or his victory speech.
Pivoting to the new, Axelrod-dictated meme — that the people are still angry about the Bush years, which accounts for their lashing out for yet more “change” — Rich ladles on the more-in-sorrow-than-in-anger new criticism, which is that Obama’s problem is that he’s not progressive enough:
Obama’s plight has been unchanged for months. Neither in action nor in message is he in front of the anger roiling a country where high unemployment remains unchecked and spiraling foreclosures are demolishing the bedrock American dream of home ownership. The president is no longer seen as a savior but as a captive of the interests who ginned up the mess and still profit, hugely, from it.
Meanwhile, bubbling down below the mandarin heights of Eighth Avenue, in the strange and wonderful precincts of the Internet, this video has gone viral. Pace Frank, it looks like many of the people who drank the Obama Kool-Aid 15 months ago now want their “Change” back:

We were warned from the beginning that Obama wasn't ready to lead. Hillary Clinton tried to clue us in to this fact. So now he is here for 3 years and I fear, 4 after that. I doubt the gutless people who voted for him because they were too intimidated to ask the hard questions, will risk admitting they were wrong the first time. Barack is their leader and he has made finger pointing an art.

Mr. Axelrod's "meme" is deceptive, but more accurate than you give him credit. Yes, lefty's are frustrated over Obama's failure to follow-through on their favorite ideals of closing Gitmo, ending the war, and universal healthcare. Nevertheless, conservatives still have plenty of anger over the fact that Bush's domestic "successes" did not reflect conservative ideals. To the extent that is true, yes, we do want more change.

Leadership, whether it's as a production supervisor, a military officer, or leader of the free world, isn't just a talent – it's a learned skill. o'BAMa has never had a real job, let alone a real job that would develop leadrship skills. I joined a new modern gym with tv screens everywhere. I live in a really blue state. Most of the young people there were watching music videos, cnn, law and order,etc, or sports. But, 3 or four pathetic middle aged women were watching Rosie and Oprah yakking. In Rhode Island a health club that targets the bluest of blue limo lib, academia left, big lawyer, big time lib whatever instutions as a zip code analysis would prove this is a very good sign. None of the young women, some pretty cute had Oprah on the screen. Many had no screen on but rather their MP3 or IPOD thus listening to their own programming as they so chose it. Liberty is happening, perhaps from making personal choices in smaller ways as an individual, and thus shutting out if not totally but dramatically the big media conglomerates and their messengers and message machine and thus their message. I'm looking forward to a more 'feisty' Obama administration. They have no real idea the extent to which people will fight back. They thought the 'tea parties' were the extent of it. With each passing day, the 'blame Bush' mantra loses even more potency. The media water-carriers look even more stupid, with many on the print side figuring that a 'paid-for' model will save them. They will end up preaching to a much smaller choir: their own.
Sounds like a good why to take this country down without bombing anymore buildings….Maybe you can hire some more communist to raise my personal wealth making stuff really cheap and to sell to stupid Americans for way more, so I can invest all their money into developing nations where my money can grow and I can avoid the price of things like employee benefits and taxes and make a killing. I should also be able to buy American property at a huge mark down right now since all those American fools fell for idea about taking out loans at really high interest rates.
