In the ongoing national debate — who is the most biased, belligerent and repellent MSNBC anchor or commentator — it’s a shame that Contessa Brewer hasn’t been getting much face time lately, as the network boots her around from failing show to failing show. But when it comes to sheer aggression, combined with impenetrable obtuseness, the Pride of Syracuse University and former Imus in the Morning sidekick takes a back seat to none of her more notorious male counterparts in the low-rated loony bin.
So it was a cheer moment yesterday when mild-mannered New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg had finally had enough and turned on his tormentrixes (Melissa Francis is the other) in a way that more politicians under enemy fire should emulate:

Notice Melissa rolling her eyes? Notice Contessa looking at Melissa like Senator Gregg is some kind of idiot? Melissa and Contessa were pathetic. Apparently, Melissa and Contessa had no idea how dishonest and childish they showed themselves to be.
Way to go Senator Gregg! Show Republicans how to fight back!
This should be a lesson to all Republicans on how not to fall into these Libtard media traps! This is what they do! They ask a rhetorical question with a completely false initial premise usually starting with "…we can all agree blah blah blah…" then stating some ridiculous or made up fact or statistic. Then they try to move on the second part of the question before the person has a chance to digest the crap they were just fed. Then they ask them the "…do you still beat your wife" type question as a followup to the false premise putting the person totally on the defensive so they have to answer that question first before they can rebut the false premise. Even Barack did it in the state of the union when he stated the deficit he inherited from Bush was 1 Trillion dollars then went on to state something more insane so you will just accept the 1 Trillion dollar thing on face value. Note: The banks paid back most of TARP dude! With a profit Dude! You inherited a $450B deficit! Now you want to Freeze the deficit at $1.4 Trillion. Another attempted slight of hand.
Nice.
Senator Judd Gregg just bitch slapped those un-nappy headed ho's. It is high time people start standing up to the progressive agenda. Those shills are not news people, they are not anchors, they are not journalists. They are talking heads, furthering their progressive personal viewpoints.
The article mentions Imus in the morning.
It is interesting, watching Imus lately. He isn't much of a fan of Obama. He was hilarious this morning, with Dick Cavet.
Special thanks to Senator Gregg for for avoiding the rhetorical trap. Apparently he actually listened to the question, instead of thinking about his talking points as it was being asked. Here's hoping his peers follow his lead.
Lazy Jack
My response would have been, "Well, we're going to eliminate the NEA and pass a school choice act so parents can get tax credits and send their kids to Catholic or Lutheran schools if they want." The resulting imploding airhead effect would have been fun to watch.
This is the manner in which these people need to be handled. Don't except their premise. Don't let them frame the argument. And don't let them get away with blatant misrepresentation. It's the time to be correct-NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT. PC crap has twisted the basis of every argument. Let's stop it now.
Good job Senator-you have worked very hard for your title. At least for today.
MSNBC is funny. I'd like to be a fly on the wall during their job interviews. Show me your indignant face, Contessa. Excellent! Now, let's have a little more rudeness. Perfect! Yer hired!
Schools are funded by states and cities mostly.
Well done!
PELL grants? Really? Are you aware of what the first "F" in FAFSA stands for?
Counterattacks like this are over due. Wordplay, faulty logic and empty-headed rhetoric from the MSM has to be ripped from their smug, self center mouths, so they can be exposed for the nasty little imps they are.
Bitch Slap !
Fundamentally dishonest question, met by a fundamentally honest answer.
The inference that a $1.3 trillion budget needs to be passed or else children and fluffy kittens and puppies will be harmed, is the height of sophistry.
And the old rules of maintaining your decorum with the entrenched media should not apply. Not any longer. Never again.
The way to deal with propaganda is to shine a beam of light on it EVERY time it occurs. NEW rules of engagement with old media…if you act like a propagandist you will be treated like a propagandist. Period, no exceptions.
These rotten, lying, amoral cretins have stolen my information stream…and I want it back.
Amazing. I loved how they tried to shut him up and end the interview, and he ignored it and kept railing on them. Congrats, Senator!
The brunnette is dishonest. I will point out she referred to $1.4 trillion dollar budget. That is a lie. It is $1.4 dollar DEFICIT. I realize she is just a broad reading a script and doesn't have the mental tools to comprehend what is written for her.
Now Palin is a genius. She catches facts.
What a sham, Contessa and apparently MSNBC have no interest in objective interviewing. She is so idealogically blinded that she is unable to formulate a question without framing it from her partisan perspective nor honestly conceed that it was bias when confronted. Is it a wonder that nobody is watching this network anymore and FoxNews' popularity is skyrocketing? What I can't understand is why do MSNBC's shareholders put up with it? Don't they have the ability to demand better?
A journalist would have framed the question"where would you propose Cuts". and waited for and reported the answer. Plain and simple. MSNBC More Stupid New Bimbos on Camera
Actually local funding for school districts keeps them open. Most states do more funding than federal. The states have to cover a lot of expensive unfunded mandates.
Obama may wish school districts go bankrupt so the feds can sieze local education.
AND it was obvious that those two morons (educated in the public school system) did even understand the concept of logic, reasoning, and analysis. They didn't even know the principle on which their "question" was asked. they just kept repeating their little teleprompter script thinking "oooooh…he's not answering our question"
HOPELESS
A great job by Senator Gregg. This is the only way I can watch MSNBC (sic) in quick little video clips where they are being riducled as they so richly deserve.
With these two it probably would only have been a slight pop – less than you get opening a bottle of champagne.
Back in the old days if you wanted to do advocacy journalism from the left without having to hide your biases, you simply went to work for an alternative newspaper like the Village Voice, of if you were a TV person, you gravitated over to PBS. The other networks were still biased to the left, but their reporters and anchors still attempted to maintain a bit of distance from the topic of the day.
What Contessa is doing is both a little more honest and disingenuous at the same time. The fact that she and her bosses have no qualms about her flying off the handle at anything or anyone deemed conservative is more truthful than what it was 20 or 30 years ago — Walter Cronkite outed himself as a hard-line liberal post-retirement, but its not as though he didn't hold the same views and make judgments based on those views when he was anchoring the CBS Evening News. On the other hand, Brewer and the rest of the gang at MSNBC want you to believe that at best, it's only Olbermann and Maddow who are tilted towards the left at the network, and the rest of the on-air talent plays it straight down the line. Nobody believes that, yet the network seems to think if they keep saying it, somehow that will change everyone's perception.
No way should these women be seen as reporters, only corporate robots pushing the Socialist agenda. The media version of dumb and dumber in skirts.
The horror…..a reporter ….a reporter didn't have a questioned answered…….
BWWAAHHHHHAAAHHHHAAAHHHHA
This is the way that Republicans/conservatives should handle media bias. These two liberal dolt women, showing their obvious and ongoing bias in the wording of their comments and the questions, get their asses kicked to the curb.
A man with guts and integrity vs two bimbos in a gotcha moment. Man, 1. Bimbos 0.
Rule number one with reporters: Never, ever say "no comment." They will inevitably report that as agreeing with their leading questions. Rule number two: Don't be afraid to argue with them about what and how they asked a question. You can even ask them questions back. If you can, record the conversation (all of it) yourself for later presentations.
I totally agree with how Sen. Judd Gregg responded. Reporters shouldn't be treated as professions. Those days are over.
Hip hip hooray for calling out these two harpies of mslsd. Thank you Sen Gregg!! 11/10 will be here very soon.
Ouch! Take that!
Ya what an absurd statement (err-question) to wonder if Gregg might support cuts in education even though he voted for an amendment in 1996 that “would balance the budget faster by killing the Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Education, Commerce, and Energy.” Plus he still thinks it might be a "great idea": http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/60613
Gregg is the bully here.
MSLSD has become an insane asylum where you just laugh at the mental cases like mattheus and olbermann. The fact that they're under the delusion that they're actually a news organization is hilarious and sad simultaneously.
Sen. Gregg has voted to cut funding to education and to abolish the Department of Education before. He doesn't have an intellectually honest bone in his body, as exemplified by his reversal on pay-as-you-go legislation; making a cynical partisan vote against legislation he's supported in the past. You can tell he's lying by how much he freaked out and whined, just like sack of sh*t Andrew Breitbart on MSNBC yesterday.
Just like a liberal – if you're not on our side, you're immoral. Yech!
Gregg should have said that he would prefer to to cut the funding for oxygen tanks for little old ladies with COPD.
Hassel………..this is the most intelligent thing you have said in all your posts I have seen………way to go. The meds must be working ! I even gave you a point…….BTW. huge congrats to the Senator for calling-out their loaded question.
Just more MSM "journalists" waiting on their knees for their chance to brew some black tea. How dat taste, bro? Mmm, mmm, mmm!
when the going gets tough msnbc gets going………………………….to comercial break that is. Ummm uhhhh ummm we have to go now…….. even worse then fox
Cloward-Piven Strategy
The folks at MSNBC will soon know what it’s like to be on the outside looking in. WORD!
The point is to get the interviewee to accept a false premise, then to have him argue either for or against it on tape. It's a blackmail scheme. "We have proof of you saying whatever" and then we'll use it against you when you are damaging "our side".
Excuse me. Am I hearing this correctly? That was awesome.
Is it safe to assume that the Repubs are starting to grow a pair? Bush should have said things like that daily…
Exactly. That's what Liz Cheney does and she kicks butt in every interview she gives. I love to watch them dismantle the tricksters. It's the same thing Scott Brown did with Gergen. Maybe some in the GOP are learning?
They do this every time. Here in California the taxpayers have been rejecting every spending increase and the pols come out and say "we'll just have to cut teachers and cops", as if they can't cut one of the $700,000 spa junkets to have an "empowerment meeting". Gimme a break.
The Department of Education should be abolished. That doesn't mean schools won't get funding. It means a bureaucracy will no longer exist. Not a lie just because you want it to be one.
For some reaason, my hand keeps moving to my checkbook with Senator Gregg's name in mind…. Hmmm…
Yes, you can see them looking at each other, silently asking how to get out of that mess short of yelling, CUT!
There, Republicans! Wasn't that satisfying?
Maybe when reruns of Hee Haw overtake their ratings as a whole, they might get the idea…?
ARE YOU LISTENING, ADVERTISERS???
I have to agree. It is waaaaaay past time that Republicans and others that disagree with these Uberlefties, especially with the insane MSNBC let them know. Just heard the prez maligning the Republicans at their "retreat" get together. He
He truly is an ideologue, no question.
Judd Gregg should not have gone on that show at all – except to answer any question by calling them what they really are – a bunch of insane, America-hating Communist propagandists.
Excellent comment. You are correct. The MSM are not news organizations any more. They are PR companies and propaganda machines.
Maybe their progressive shareholders consider their plummeting stock values to be political donations.
If only all the republicans would do that. Never agree with their assertions, tell them up front that their questions are ridiculous. Then let'em have it with the truth! But to further answer their questions, if the government employees weren't allowed to unionize we could slash payroll, which is a primary cost and bring things back into line.
Considering the above Departments have failed miserably, I'd kill them to.
Keep terrorizing the Left, Sen. Gregg.
Follow that instinct!
Right on. All those federal BS departments have done such a great job in the past, I don't know, since they existed? EVERYWHERE the liberals are in charge, there is poor school performance, attendance and graduation rates. There are more slums and ghetto type housing in those cities and who needs any department telling us a bunch of crap about "climate change" and encouraging us to spend MORE MONEY on green energy? Just think of how much money the states could be handed for education if we didn't have to support the money skimming, do nothing but harm departments you named. Wouldn't bother me if they went away and it STILL wouldn't cut education funds. Yep, you know the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Right on. The DoE has done such a great job in the past, I don't know, since they existed? EVERYWHERE the liberals are in charge, there is poor school performance, attendance and graduation rates. Just think of how much money the states could be handed for education if we didn't have to support the blotted, money skimming, do nothing but harm DoE. Wouldn't bother me if it went away and it STILL wouldn't cut education funds. Yep, you know the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
An excellent response from the Senator. In the face of an intelligent answer these two bimbos were totally lost. They were really pissed that Senator Gregg didn't follow their script. Priceless, truly priceless.
SMAKEDOWN!! Dont know why anyone would put up with their bs anyways.
Alright, what have you done with Dhasselhoff? Thumbs up for this one.
One of the worst school systems in my state also happens to be the one that spends the most per student. Pouring money into education does not improve the quality. The two biggest problems with our educational systems are the lack of engaged parents and teachers unions.
Daaaaamn! That was awesome.
Contessa Brewer's next question to the other so called journalist – - –
"Journalistic integrity???? What is that??? What is he talking about??? "
As a spelling/grammar nerd, I must point out:
the plural of "tormentrix" is "tormentrices".
If you're going to form pseudo-Latinate neologisms, do it right!
Pwned.
Every time scaling back government comes up on this network, the leftists start screaming about cutting funding to essential services like fire and police and schools. They essentially hold firemen, policemen and teachers hostage as pawns in their quest to GROW government and put the knife to essential services first rather than non-essential expenditures. Some of these include funding for the arts, funding for colleges and the limitless pit of funding "higher education" on taxpayer dime, increased and unnecessary bureaucracy, reductions in government bureaucrat pay and benefits, reduction or elimination of entities like the Dept. of Energy (which produces no energy) or the Dept. of Commerce (which produces nothing and doesn't engage in commerce). Let's scale back the Dept. of Labor as well. We don't need departments "examining" racial and "cultural" issues. We don't need agencies dedicated to harassing private businesses. Etc. There is a LOT that can be cut in government (and local governments are largely responsible for the maintenance of police, fire and schools, anyway). The FEDERAL government should have little or nothing to do with them.
Picking and choosing which points you refute doesn't mean you've accomplished anything but reinforcing your own repugnant beliefs.
Yeah, why can't we get rid of the liberals who dominate rural Appalachian schools?
i can't get enough of this… they should do this everyday….maybe MSDNC would get some people to watch the network… has anybody seen the ratings lately?……TOTAL CARNAGE….
Oh snap! In the words of Arlen Specter, "Act like a lady"
Sen Judd how dare you drop that toilet lid on that news readers head
These clowns are the imps you call them. They are "Pimps" for a destructive ideology that was instilled in them by their college professors(?) I wonder what these girls were doing in college. It certainly wasn't learning.
You are correct, but It was a play on words, i.e. "tricks." "Trices" wouldn't have done it.
Integrity and MSNBC reporters do not belong in the same sentence. Any reporter who goes to work at MSNBC loses all credibility.
Kudlow, why are you over there???
"Our children will starve!"
"Whole neighborhoods will burn down!"
"Crime will take over our neighborhoods!"
"Education will decline!"
Wait…that last one is already happening despite trillions going to fund hapless, useless public school administrators while keeping hapless useless teachers in their seats (aka 'jobs saved').
Well, Senator Gregg's response was certainly a mcuh better comeback than I've seen from repbulicans in a long time.
However, I WISH the repubs would truly grow a pair and ask idiots like these if they could cite the statistics for the increase in school spending by the fed over the last 30 years vs the test scores of the high school graduates.
Is it too much to ask for perfomance improvement to at least go in the same direction as the quantity of dollars received?
The amount per child sent to the schools by the Fed Govmnt has increased astronomically while test scores continue to go down?
Do liberals EVER look at outcomes based on results rather than their "feelings"?
If more money from government = lower overall scores, then when do the American People get to stand up and say "Enough! Give us our education tax dollars back in the form of vouchers and let us pick the schools! A free market and competiton will then take care of the rest. These are OUR children that are being shortchanged."
Liberalism IS a mental disorder.
Sen. Gregg is fantastic. Always has been. He came from the neighborhood that I grew up in. I remember riding my bike past his house when I was a kid. He's been a great asset to NH. Too bad he's not running for re-election.
I cannot help but watch this video over and over again. Perhaps the paradigm is shifting and that "objective" reporters are held accountable for their blatant and often snakry representations.
Hey Good Louie…. who pays your salary … benefits… retirement…? what we have have here is a big pie set
down in front of a a large group of diners at a table.. just like in real life..and our continuingly obese society,
I think it's just human nature to want a "slightly " bigger piece than the next guy.
You work in a world where there are protections, defined procedures for job infractions. Most of us live in a world
where if our boss or his wife sneezes, we're gone. And you want to scale back the Dept Of Labor..Geez
It is time to toss the rude wannabe-reporters and get some qualified individuals in front of the cameras. These two women are representative of a group of elitists who would never question Senator John Kerry in such a manner…after all, he is another of the 'do you know who I am' crowd. If you aren't in that bunch, be prepared for RUDENESS from the gitgo!
Sorry, Melissa and Contessa – go find another gig…you are giving a black eye to womanhood!
Yes…I believe Scott Brown's victory here in the bluest of blue states has invigorated Republicans everywhere!
PS Our donations are going to INDIVIDUAL CONSERVATIVES all across the land – NOT to a national party whose leadership is so TONE DEAF as to schedule a retreat in HAWAII during these hard economic times!!!! I believe the RNC would do better to use this opportunity to discharge the current leader and get someone who CAN HEAR WHAT AMERICANS ARE SAYING!! I send back their request envelopes EMPTY – with that exact message – LISTEN to US – and until you demonstrate you do hear us, NO $$$!
I hope enough REAL CONSERVATIVES get elected in November to do exactly what you suggest – CLOSE DOWN most of the federal agencies!!!! We do NOT need 'big brother' overseeing our every move! Children were learning much more when the federal government was OUT of our schools!
I urge everyone to support those individuals who will bring fiscal responsibility to Washington!
Good for you! I wish the rest would do the same.
Wow that is kind of cherry picking right?
Oh wow, that was quite enjoyable.
Too bad Gregg sold his sole to the Fed.

With the possible exception of the branches of the military and some of the intelligence agencies, the federal government is nothing more than layer upon layer of bureaucracies that siphon off tax payer's money for redistribution. The department of education is redundant and unnecessary since we have that covered on state, county and often, local levels. HUD has done nothing to help the plight of the poor and homeless and I have yet to see any long lasting success in urban development- unless embraced by the private sector. Unfortunately, many look to the federal government as one huge charity and, unfortunately, this one has way too much overhead and waste to be efficient.
Sounds like you are a big fan of Kevin Jennings
A couple of additions to your points regarding problems:
3. Elimination of corporal punishment- In my formative school years, if you misbehaved, you got to visit one of the stick and ball coaches for some counseling. OUCH
4. Students are no longer taught American history because so much from our past has been glossed over or outright changed to a much more progressive view- especially what is reflected from the early 1900's to 1950's.
I knew there had to be something right about Sen. Gregg when he decided not to participate in Obamao's administration. It was a good sign.
When I view clips like this one, those moments are the only times I ever see anything that comes out of MSNBC or any of the other alleged news programs.
They have become so unreliable and journalistically dishonest that I cannot trust them, even when their weather predictions might have some effect on the left's agenda.
I no longer know which channels they are when I use my remote and see them only when I'm surfing for something else.
I hope Nielsen and the other businesses on which advertisers rely are paying attention to the stampede away from their programs.
Unfortunately, Gregg isn't running again so let's hope he's not done calling them as he sees them. Hodes (D) wants his seat and is currently 9 pts behind former AG Ayotte (R). We don't want Hodes – just another rubber stamp.
"Dogs and cats, living together! MASS HYSTERIA!"
Well done Senator. It was duplicitus trap because it puts one on the defensive. There's certainly room for cutting in the administrative end of education but not a first priority as there are many other departments that could be totally liquided – they're that useless.
The way to derail these dishonest statements masquerading as questions is to turn it back on the "questioner."
"Wow, Contessa, your first idea is to cut spending to schools?"
Then stop. Now she is on the defensive. She'll say she asked a question.
"No, you asked a question, and answered it, Contessa. Do you now have a serious question?"
Oh, and it appears that they've added Disgusted Paper Shuffling, and Shocked Wide Eye Blinking to the How to be an Anchor seminar.

The reporter's name is "Contessa"??!!
Criminy! How can anyone talk to anyone named "Contessa" and keep a straight face? Is her mother named "Countess?" I mean, aren't those the kind of names you give to dogs?
It was great to see someone call these silly people on their silly tactics: every time someone talks about being fiscally responsible, the silly folks in the media immediately accuse them of being ready to sell schoolchildren to a glue factory, or whatever.
But hey, what can you expect from someone named "Contessa." Seriously, does she have a brother named "Earl" or "Duke?" Or a cousin named "Freiherr"? Sheesh!
Very good text. I’ve found your site via Bing and I’m really glad about the information you provide in your articles. Btw your blogs layout is really broken on the Kmelon browser. Would be cool if you could fix that. Anyhow keep up the great work!
