Britain’s Charlie Brooker explains it all for you. Sure, he writes for The Guardian, but he’s bloody funny, so don’t hold that against him… today.
What do you think? Have you got what it takes?

Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending the "Restoring Honor" rally in Washington, D.C. While I'm proud to be an American each and every day, I was especially proud on that day. The feeling I had being amongst so many people that love and appreciate the blessings...

Great!
Sheer journalistic hilarity!
Oh so true! Being gorgeous does help too!
Some more news parody.

I do not think I could do this with a straight face.
Wasn't he the one who called for Bush's assassination in 2004 ("Where's John Wilkes Booth when you need him ?")?
i do love this guy!
ROFL ROFL ROFL
Debbie I know I couldn't do it with a straight face. Some people were born to be in front of the camera. Some were born to behind the camera.
Avid Technology was perhaps a blessing and a curse. When New Media Hollywood started pimping the computers what the Hollywoodist wannabes didn't see and what I saw was that their vertical accent (ahhhh finally I can take them on) would be just another parabolic event in the course of our time line.
The wannabes thought that "if only I didn't need to kiss up" and just focus on the aaarrrrttttt of film making my unique abilities would make me "King Of The World!" Utopia is darling eh?
Well. Then came the non-wannabes who were less concerned with the aaaarrtttt of film making who could afford to shell out the cash to Speer. Awesome dude BTW. Don't get me wrong. They were still wannabes. Just a different strain. Now anyone with a trust fund, lineage to the Saudis or Laurel Canyon elitsts could become a film maker.
The rest is history. Brooker brings this chapter full circle.
Avid eventually keeled over like most narrow market tech stocks. But shorting that bad boy gave me a special joy.
This is so true. I've noticed that when someone dies, mentioning their Facebook page and quoting well-wishers is becoming part of the story routine.
THAT is freakin AWEOMSE!!!
The only thing he forgot was the required dig at FOX News.
LOL! I love the sheer honesty of it.
Newswipe, a catchall name for the MSM. This video is now being shown at Columbia U and an exam will follow. All students that bother to show up will receive a passing grade for the semester.
To be successful, you also have to be able to say these things with a very solemn face: "Officials aren't commenting;" "No word yet on a cause;" "The investigation continues;" and "Our calls to officials weren't returned."
Well, I’m ready to be a “journalist,” very instructive.
Very Funny, yet strangely as informative as most TV news segments.
Good enough for a Python sketch.
Certainly better than anything Gibbs can offer, ever.
So thats how MSM manages to be so accurate and on top of things———————–that shed conservatives in a bad light.
Don't forget to only use single phrase sentences.
And single sentence paragraphs.
In your news story.
Heaven help us if the Brits start recognizing the Propaganda. The revolution for socialist world control will be well and truly on it's way to being OVER. The end game is when the French start to get it.
Great piece, reminds me of the news woman in some town who wanted to dramatize her newspiece by making it a great flood. She sat herself in a boat pretending to use the oars like she was boating down the middle of a "flooded" street – come to find out she was sitting in a large pool of water. A newsmaker!
While funny, as a journalism major, it was a bit unfair. While broadcast journalism isn't my personal cup of tea, the visual nature of the medium requires the content to be a bit "dumbed down," which can be frustrating for those trying to make honestly good work. The expectation is that broadcast journalism is supposed to reveal more in pictures than in words. Also, while a journalist in print is limited only to space on a page (and even less if it is online), the broadcast journalist is limited by time, which is much more constrictive. It is very difficult to get to the nuts and bolts of a story in less than sixty seconds, while trying not to bore your audience to tears.
While it is easy to abuse the nature of the medium, covering important, hard-hitting stories well (that aren't live) is exponentially more difficult in broadcast than in any other medium. So please don't color all broadcast journalists under the same banner.
What we have here is the failure to communism or communicate, or whatever. This is the anti-saul alinsky video I've been waiting for.
I love when they report on dangerous, flesh-eating windchills with their ears exposed.
Just as the "book is always better than the movie", the true story is always better than the nightly new.
Can't even add a URL? Kind of defeats your assumption that we should all follow your political ideology.
"The URL contained a malformed video ID."
Eat enough kidney pie and you can do anything with a straight face.
Good catch!
Also nothing about how either the issue is caused by global warming or is contributing to it.
Ah the Metatron.

I'll tell you what. You graduate, go out and become a real honest reporter, covering news not opinion, telling the truth not repeating ideological talking points, I'll be happy to up my respect meter for the profession.
Till then, as long as I'm hearing the world's coming to an end, women and minorities hit hardest, I'll keep my skepticism.
And I do mean this really, this isn't a snarc or sarcasm. We need real journalists, not the Dan Rather type that have essentially destroyed the profession. Promise me you will give it your best!
That sounds about right. We are currently experiencing a "weather event" , you know what used to be call a storm, and all the TV bobble-heads are out in the streets armed with their tape measure fresh from the garage toolbox trying to measure the snowfall. I love the irony of some moron standing in the snow along a roadway telling me to stay off the road because it's not safe to be out. I'm particularly fond of hurricane season when they stand on the beach.
As the British would say: BRILLIANT!
Look, he TOTALLY missed the primary requirement to be an MSM "journalist", either broadcast or print. You have to have an undeniable urge to line up on your knees for an opportunity to brew some black tea. THAT's all that really counts anymore. Mmm, mmm, mmm!
