More than a year after he arrived in Washington, President Obama, amazingly, has not yet been able to find a church. You really can’t make this stuff up. From ABC News:
Obama quit Chicago’s embattled Trinity United Church of Christ months before taking office in 2008 and has not formally joined a new one in his new hometown.
But sources familiar with the president’s personal life say Obama remains a faithful Christian while in the White House, practicing his beliefs regularly in private with family and the aid of his BlackBerry.

Four questions: 1) What’s so hard about finding a church?
2) How do you worship God with the aid of your BlackBerry?
3) Does Obama have the Deity’s private email or IM handle?
4) Does God have his?
Then again, maybe the reason he hasn’t found a church is that he’s having a hard time finding a speaker as imbued with the true spirit of Christianity as the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. After all, it’s pretty hard to top this message of love:
Let’s have your thoughts.

I dunno.
Maybe he be looking in the wrong place.
Perhaps he should roll up the prayer rug, and head off to the nearest Mosque.
I can just envision the next public works project, when they put up minarets on the White House.
He could join "The Church of Whats Happenin' Now."
No, we hate Barack because he's destroying the American way of life in more ways than 300 million decent human beings can track.
Perhaps Mr. Obama realizes he's just going to have to find another church in three years.
I missed something on the vid, and went back. Listen at 00:23 and there it is: "Jesus was a poor BLACK man……"
Ya know folks, this is simple my opinion, but if a anglo preacher stood at the pulpit, screaming "Nigger", he would have the NAACP and the New Black Panthers picketing out front, and would have the Eric Holder DOJ filing "Hate Speech" charges.
Reverend Jerimiah Wright is nothing but a race baiting hate monger. If this country is so bad, he ought to load up his "congregation" and head back to the Mother Land. Wright, Jackson, Sharpton, and even Obama have turned back race relations about 50 years.
Well since we're "not a Christian nation" anymore, why would he want to go to a church-DUH?
I have said it before and i repeat myself herei do not believe he is a muslim nor will i ever be convinced he is a Christian. I dont think there is enough room in his massive ego for himself and any form of diety
He picks churches like he voted – Present. He won't commit so the rubes can fill in the blanks about what his religious beliefs are.
That's where I had to stop listening. Anything after that "premise" must be faulty. I would hate to be this man of the cloth on Judgment Day – and I'm not talking about the movie. The Bible says judgment BEGINS with the pulpit. [Do they call you "Mr. Logic?" Cowboy? CL?] I sure like your posts.
I don't care. Atheists, agnostics, non-church goers and those who fight for separation of church and state should be thrilled to have one more in their rank.
CRASHFIXR-in his mind, he is the ONE. Why would he go to a church where he is not the one being worshiped.
In other words he worships at the Church of Obama.
BigJ is boxing itself, badly.
This is another lousy piece. “What’s so hard about finding a church?” If that were an honest question, it might be addressed, but it is merely snide. As are the rest.
That Rev. Wright’s views were not properly vetted by MSM – that Barack and Michelle are probably “reverse racists” – are appropriate topics. This is not.
There are many right-wing Evangelical sites that will give voice to such as this. BigJ is not needed here.
O’Keefe and ACORN: yes. Climategate: yes. Hell, if you run out of subject matter, go backwards: the “suicide” of Vince Foster, the Oklahoma City bombing.
If you want to descend into the pit of “my God is better than your God” you will lose a lot of “market.” Me first! …….Lady in Red
"How do you worship God with the aid of your BlackBerry?"
Isn't there an App for that? From all the buzz, BO can just worship with the aid of a mirror.
So he's saying that Obama and Jesus are the same? It seems obvious in hindsight that he impressed that belief on Obama, and helps to explain why Obama sees himself as the "One". Personally, I would say he more closely resembles the Antichrist than the Savior……………………………………Just a thought………..Shouldn't we look into the background of people before we elect them president, and disqualify those candidates that appear to have had a radical Anti-American indoctrination?
It should come as no surprise that the POtuS's in-house spin machine can't figure out which church is piss-off the least number of his
sycophantsconstituents. After all, they interpreted Scott Brown's election as a cry for more government intrusion into people's lives!AMEN Brother
So security issues are more complex for going to Church on Sunday than a Georgetown Hoya’s basketball game on Saturday – and sitting in the front row? Wonder if the Reverend Wright was in attendance? And then doing game commentary! How could you morons elect such a classless, self-centered character to be our President? Shame on America.
SEE YA! And take your religious relativism with you
He has a Church. The Church of Gorebull Warming lead by the Wrong Reverend AlGore.
"practicing his beliefs regularly in private with family and the aid of his BlackBerry
Much like the war on terror…much like investigating the potential fraud in Global Warming, much like dealing with jobs …he appears to be "phoning it in".
sensible99, as you know, a lot of us did. However the mushy middle moderates, the so called independents who get their information from the dinosaur media because they're too lazy to look themselves, heard very little if any about this guy's real life.
Barrack and MooShelle are reverse racists?
Would that make them AAG?
"Anti-Anglo-Gentile"?
We have a mechanism for that. It's called elections, and as a last resort, the Electoral College. Sadly, with regards to elections, government indoctrination centers crank out future voters without grounding in even basic civics, but they know all about condoms. As for the Electoral College, some states have no penalty for electors who vote against their state's will, and indeed during the last election of W, there was pressure put to bear on electors to do just that, in favor of Kerry. Sadly, expecting a dem elector to do the right thing, when given the mandate to vote for a Marxist, is about as productive as looking for a spine in a pudding cup.
it would be interesting to know what's on his blackberry….the bibile or the koran?? or maybe just rules for radicals??
so when will Mr. Brown be seated??
Ah. That explains the Blackberry…
Gotta get his message out…and the teleprompter rests on Sunday…
"A fool and his Barrak shall soon be parted…2010 is here…"
For the left, government fulfills the role of church.
Generally speakin'.
I myself am not a big fan of churches, and do worship in private as well…
But I don't BlackBerry it, either…that's a bit "strange"…
I believe religion is a deeply personal and private thing, not something for a streetcorner…and definitely not a "follow along with Mitch" thing…
When the public outcry becomes too loud to ignore.
From the 2nd article – "using racially charged language, to the apparent delight of the congregation." Obama enjoys being around black racists, and since black "churches" are filled with them, it wouldn't be hard to find another "Hate Church." I suspect that he doesn't want to roll another congregation – and its' Reverend – under the bus again. He got a 'Free Pass' for having been a 20+ year member of the racist TUCC, and probably knows that he won't get another one…if caught again.
When Obama ran for President he inadvertently exposed Black Racism in America. Rev. Wright and TUCC taught and promoted the racist doctrine of Black Liberation Theology. The Democrat Party is filled with black racists who teach and promote the racist doctrine of Black Liberation Theology, e.g. the Reverend Leah D. Daughtry is/was "the CEO of the 2008 Democratic National Convention Committee and chief of staff to Howard Dean, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee." That's not a subject that MSM wants to report on…
I'm not concerned that he hasn't found a church — it's non-trivial for a president and family to show up to a church, logistics alone. So if he wants to supplement that with an in-house spiritual adviser and daily readings, I don't see the problem.
What struck me, instead, was (from the original ABC piece): "My Faith and Neighborhood Initiatives director, Joshua DuBois, he has a devotional that he sends to me on my BlackBerry every day," Obama said. "That's how I start my morning. You know, he's got a passage, Scripture, in some cases quotes from other faiths to reflect on."
I don't think most Christians maintain their faith by semi-regular reflection on quotes *from other faiths*. Typically, they stick to the Bible.
LiR is just a slightly higher grade troll than we commonly see here at Big*. "She" is a moby variant. One who pretends to be a kindred spirit, but takes issue with a particular current topic, and voices concern over the welfare of the forum, and it's journalistic integrity, if that issue is not dropped.
http://bigjournalism.com/jstanek/2010/01/30/why-a... "She," an alleged Quaker non-feminist, tips "her" hand when she refers to G-d as a "she."
Religious distress is at the same time the expression of real distress and the protest against real distress. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is required for their real happiness. The demand to give up the illusion about its condition is the demand to give up a condition which needs illusions.
Karl Marx, Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right
To be fair, any church selection would be imbued with all sorts of political 'meaning' by Obama's detractors (including this one). I'm curious though….are there Any churches in DC worthy of a president that aren't more of a political statement than worship of and communion with GOD? The few sermon excerpts I've ever heard from DC pastors sound just like policy positions of special self-interest groups.
You mean like this?http://dctrawler.dailycaller.com/2010/01/25/presi...
Remember when the MSM blathered on and on about how "poor" Obama and family couldn't go to church, despite their inclination to do so (ha ha) because of the security concerns and how the security concerns would disrupt the service of any church for its regular attendants? Gee, how is it that Duke and Georgetown fans didn't find it disruptive to have the intense security for yesterday's basketball game and isn't Obama's kids' private school Sidwell Friends doing just fine with all the extra security. The other posters here got it right. The guy isn't interested in attending any church other than the Church of Obama. I couldn't care less if he's an Atheist or an Agnostic I do care that he's a total hypocritical fraud behind that curtain.
No. 1: YES GOD HAS EVERYONE'S EMAIL ADDRESSES! No. 2: The big O is having trouble finding a new church because he knows we are watching him. If he attends the church he WANTS to, we will know he did agree with Wright…..
It's pretty clear that "Reverend" Wright is still Obama's pastor or spiritual adviser or whatever he wants to call it.
I am an Evangelical Christian. I have had a personal relationship with Jesus since a very young age, and I take my faith and spirituality very seriously. I am currently a member and a staff member of a church. And I find this piece quite objectionable from a Christian viewpoint.
What is so hard about finding a church?
Many things. Especially when you are the president of the United States. My husband and I who enjoy no fame whatsoever have struggled for years to find a church that fits. I can name numerous dedicated Christian people who also have. And as a reminder, Ronald Reagan never attended church while he was president.
How do you worship God with the aid of your Blackberry?
Probably by reading the Bible or getting daily devotionals. I receive a bunch via email, and I regularly Internet Concordances and other Bible Study Aids. I prefer a hard copy of the actual Bible, but perhaps Obama does not.
Does Obama have the Diety's private email or IM handle?
If he has accepted Jesus as his Savior—YES, he does. As do I, and any other person who takes by faith God's gift of atonement. The Bible tells us to come boldly before the throne of grace because we have a High Priest that understands our weakness and we are invited to call God "Abba" or Father. Further, Jesus has told us that we might ask anything in his name and it will be given to us. That's a pretty powerful connection!!! Too bad most Christians fail to take it seriously and never use it.
Does God have his?
Absolutely, and he has your too, BTW. But it's not God's problem if you treat His messages like spam.
I don't begin to understand Obama's ability to reconcile his faith with his views on abortion. I don't understand how a man who has turned his life over to God can take some of the positions he does. At times, he does appear to view Government as God instead of God as God. But as an fallible human, I can't see into his heart, only God can. And only God can change what's there, So I cheer Obama's effort to connect with God. It's the BEST HOPE for our country. More effective than even the Tea Party Movement. Further, I believe Christians have a responsibility to pray for our leaders whether or not they agree with their politics. That would include our president.
The Bible that I read tells me it is by grace, through faith that we have been saved. I've read it cover to cover more than once and never encountered anything that said it was by our pro-life views, conservative values, or lack of faults that God accepts us. But it does tell us that those who are strong in the faith ought to help (not judge) those who are weaker (Romans 15:1-5)
This is more gracious and thoughtful than the original posting deserved.
Thank you. ….Lady in Red
It's touching that you think this alleged indecision is a product of sincere faith. As his willingness to condemn Wright's teachings, while continuing to seek his guidance demonstrates, however, is that his lack of a church is a product of political expediency. If he went to a church in DC, that reflects his faith and values, as he did in Chicago, the political consequences would be unacceptable.
You got it, CRASHFIXR. I think he has strong Muslim sensibilities but, if he has a church, it is the one in which he lives. His whole pretense of success has been a story of government steering his life.
Lady in Red
Here on BJ…It's "have a take and don't suck"…You are comin' up empty on both…
Fitting, that your final comment (we can only hope) is about the moon. There are plenty of other places you can peddle lunacy.
Your loss is our gain.
Phoning in the religion card. At least we have identified one of his consistencies….phoning it in.
But what do I know and chalk this up as just a "schoolyard taunt."
He has managed to do more interviews, speeches, and vacations, than there are Sundays in the year. The Secret Service can handle it, I'm sure.
That was my thought exactly, as I saw him attend that game. What a hypocrite he is. While you do not have to attend a church to be a Christian, his policies alone show he is not a Christian. I don't think the Democrats get that. After all, there are Christian Democrats who believe in abortion and other abominations this President beleives in, isn't there? Yeah right. Tell that to God when you stand before him.
Question for Breitbart…
I deeply respect the goal of the "Big" sites. As a fiscal conservative, and as a citizen who is fed up with government intrusion, I am extremely appreciative of the forum that you have provided.
For the life of me, I can't see why this site would host such irrelevant, sniping, idiotic pieces. So what if he hasn't been to church in a year, in a decade, or ever?
What does that have to do with "Big Journalism"?
Is D.C. + environs bereft of suitable churches of Black Liberation Theology? Perhaps the Obamas are BLT "Home Churching" in the WH residence.
Why doesn't Obama have a church after a year? Maybe because he went to school at a Madrassah? Maybe because his church in Chicago was more about radical left wing politcs than God. Or maybe because he's a phony and only believes in what advantages him at the moment.
His Imam probably ordered him not to continue acting like a christian. Looks bad to the believers back home in muslim-ville.
Why in the heck would a muslim need to find a new church?
"That's how I start my morning. You know, he's got a passage, Scripture, in some cases quotes from other faiths to reflect on."
Nothing like reflecting on "quotes from OTHER faiths" (I'm guessing 5 times a day) to gain knowledge of your own faith. A Blackberry can help one worship? Is Obama texting God a message from time to time? And if so,what does it say? Don't worry Lord…..the difference this time is "you've got me"?
George Bush went to church so Obama cannot.
Worshipping of God in His own house is part of the failed policies of the last 8 years. And while he may believe in a higher power, Obama also believes that God most likely doesn’t understand us, but that Obama can help. He knows that our prayers need to be “re-tooled” by him first. Thus, the blackberry.
[...] ‘Rev’ Wright, where are you? Sunday Morning Services: One Year On, President Obama Still Can’t Find a Church [...]
Obama made a big deal about his "faith" during the election–obviously he thought that it was important to a large number of voters–and he was right.
The fact that he presented himself as something he is not is the real point of this article–it rivals the dishonesty of another Democrat who was running for President-John Edwards–whose real character is finally showing through. Of course we learned from the Clinton era–character does not count with the Democrat Party of today.
These stories show the bias of the MSM–they try to bury any story that shows the real character of their favorites.
That is why this is a perfect story to be on Big Journalism – thanks for bringing it up as it should have been brought up a long time ago.
Remember that -according to one of Obama's own books, one of his early MENTORS in Hawaii was Frank Marshall Davis–a communist from Chicago. His grandfather introduced them.
There isn't a church that will take him in. Besides, he just recycles all of rev wright's old sermons (rants).
I think it's called" Politics"…If the piece was about Barney Frank, I would agree with you…But anything about the MSM darling/ Job killer is fair game….IMO
During the election, the media made a very big deal about the President's Christianity, as did Obama himself. Now, one year later, the media is wondering why he hasn't found a church.
I have a feeling that she is playing a part.
She poses as a polite, soft spoken women who never insults when giving her "honest" opinion. Every once in a while she says something horrific about how merciful her kitten smashing husband is so that tempers rage and insults fly. This makes those who disagree with her look over-the-top.
Topics which she finds appropriate are often ones from the past that have played out; however, she likes to bring them up so that the "right-wing Evangelicals" start talking about them again and pay little attention to what is happening NOW.
When I was a kid there were these troll dolls that you would roll in your hands until their hair stood straight up…
TROLL
One of the reasons he isn't in Church is tht he doesn't to listen to black preachers rail against gay marriage and abortion.
Plus, he was only going to the Wright Church for social/political reasons. No need now — he's at the top.
There is much to report on with this man… Far more important than if or when he observes his religion.
My beef with the content and placement of the article is that it's the wrong subject and the wrong place and quite frankly, it's a petty, small article.
We have more than enough pettiness in journalism. Wallowing in it detracts from the promise a site like this brings.
But… It's not my site, it's Mr. Breitbart's. If he chooses to include this sort of petty nonsense it's his choice.
If Obama associates himself as being a Christian, then the words of Christ apply: “true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth”. Maybe he’s having a tough time finding a REAL church; there’s so many impostors out there. I still pray for my President, that he may know the Truth, and the truth will set him free.
Oh, the judgmental one is trying to get you to switch to a different blog…
Is she really gone? We should throw a party.
Goodbye Lady in Red and don't squash a kitten on your way out- unless done mercifully.
“Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers.” Jesse Ventura
Hey, It IS Sunday and he prays with his Blackberry using smoke and mirrors…seems like worthy subj matter to me..
The post on the CBS/Tim Tebow may be far more appropriate for your tastes…Or Public Sector vs Private is a good one too… Enjoy…..
During the campaign, President Obama testified to being a Christian. Yet he attended a church with a treasonous message only to drop that church when it becomes a political liability. He boldly states that The United States of America is not a Christian Nation. I don't know a single Christian who would utter such a thing as if it were a good thing. He allows Mao and a transvestite to grace the White House Christmas tree and never bothers to find a church…instead he worships via BlackBerry, secluded from the public.
Each story is a piece to the Obama puzzle. A puzzle that looks more and more like a man who would claim a religion to get votes, attend a church to achieve credibility network , allowing him to make his way in the local community organizing and political scene.
You know their is a song that I was taught in Sunday School…"this little light of mine, I'm gonna' let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…. I have yet to see his little light.
Many Americans live their lives and vote according to their Faith. That Faith for most Americans is Christianity. For President Obama to use it for votes is…well, It shows a complete lack of character and a willingness to say anything to get ahead. Actions speak louder than words…and the silence of his actions is deafening.
As for what is has to do with Big Journalism…ABC reported the story…Big Journalism offered to us for debate.
Can't find a place to worship that is constructed with crosses and minarets….
Correctomundo! And his appearances all over the place don't create mass hysteria any longer since the Independents are no longer on his wagon. His problem with church is he is a practiced Muslim, and he attended a non-denominational church (Rev Wright). He needs a place where he can go pray to the east 5 times a day.
The President and his family get an evangelical message whenever he's at Camp David. The Naval Chaplain there is an amazing man of God.
OFGS, pun totally intended. What is this, Vatican City? Here's a newsflash FOX won't let you in on:
WE HAVE A SECULAR GOVERNMENT.
The President's faith or lack thereof is not—or ought not to be—anything relevant to his governance.
But if you nutcase right-wingers insist on his being a CHRISTIAN: Look for President Obama's sharing more of your wealth with the poor (giving "The Widow's Mite"); ending war ("The Prince of Peace"); going after tax cheats and usurers; and in general doing for the least of Christ's brethren so as to do for Him.
But you are all phony "Christians", pretending that all you need do is mouth the vacuity "I believe in Jesus", as though you were a guileless child, and that you are doing His work.
In reality, you worship Mammon, and your primary "virtues" are pride, avarice, wrath, and envy.
Go away. You are all destructive creatures.
Why does anyone care whether or not he has a church? It's not like it would solve any of our problems if he did. I am against basically everything the government does, but how the head man spends his Sunday mornings? Ridiculous.
Progressives believe man is basically good and that the way to bring about perfection is through implementing their ideal government. Justice for all through equality (except for the ruling class of course). As we know man is intrinsically evil and absolute power corrupts. There has never been or never will be a socialist society to achieve success. Osweet you hit the nail on the head, this is his religion and he doesn't need a building to worship in, he has a country to destroy and rebuild in his image. That is his church!
Obama will need a priest and a psychiatrist by the time he gets out of office.
Because he's Muslim – DUH !!
I love how the Christofascists are screaming about this when their hero Ronald Reagan never went to church at all. As the kids say, ROTFLMAO.
when somebody sneezes he says, "I Bless You"….
OBAMA has a direct line to his God, The One that annointed him 'The One'. The True God, …..oprah….
Its all a sham, in Communism there is no acceptable religion. Hitler tolerated Christianity, but said in the end it would also have to be eliminated. Communism, fascism, Obamaism. Differant faces of the same monster…
Great post LIR,
This article is the flip side of the KOS coin and quite frankly has nothing to do with journalism and everything to do with petty sniping to whip up a little good old time religious fervor.
It is certainly beneath what should be very high standards for a site such as this. Any connection with "journalism" is a stretch, unless one considers "TMZ" or "Star" journalism.
To a real Christian, church is not trivial.
GAScott= Useful Idiot
To answer your questions:
1). Well, for a hyper-leftie like Obama, he's got to find something that won't anger anyone! So if he goes to a 'black liberation theology' church, he'll piss off a bunch of whites. If he goes to a christian church, he'll piss off the far whacko left.
2. There's a app.
3 and 4. Is simple, Obama is god.
Glad to see he has no trouble finding golf courses or Hoya's games and that neither of them is a security hassle. Sure he can find golf and basketball games to play on the "BlackBarry." Pretty lame excuse if you ask me. Of course he has probably only had difficulty finding a church that would not eventually ask him to stand and speak his convictions – and this would be impossible without the "BarryPrompter."
Correctomundo Gorio. During the election we weren't allowed to question his HIghness because that was "racist." The middle name "Hussein" was not allowed to be uttered, and all the Independents who had doubts but who fell on the wrong side of the fence thankfully are climbing back over the fence now, we hope….Personally I dropped onto the correct side of the fence when all the stuff surfaced about Wright, Khalidi and Ayers….and now I don't have any "Buyer's Remorse" and have no need to scrape off any Obama/Biden bumper stickers.
Obama goes to church everyday, Its the church of the " Mirror" where he can worship himself as the "Ascended One" !!!
I just LOVE the parrot in your picture!
I cannot argue with the reality of the enormous size of his ego, but even so I am still convinced that he is a Muslim through and through.
BF – You don't have to read the article if it doesn't interest you. After all that is what freedom is all about.
They need more money to pay for the obama queen's lackeys
First Lady Now Requires 26 Servants
“In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much,” she said. “See, that’s why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service, “ Michelle Obama
No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn’t perform any official duties. But this hasn’t deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession. Just think Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary.
How things have changed! If you’re one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Miz Michele are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by John Q. Public:

He uses the blackberry to worship at the 'Church Of Man-Caused Catastrophic Global Climate Change'.
I DO believe that does happen…
If we could find something with the "perfect" ability to reflect himself…we could plunk him in front of it, and we'd never have to see him again…
Yep, and I used to cut grass on sunday and say the rosary. That’ll work.
And here the Big Journalism blowhards spew another non-media related article. We have a secular government. Get over it. This site will remain a joke.
It is not easy to find a church that thinks YOU are God. Give him some time
1) What’s so hard about finding a church? The Church of God Damn America obviously does not have a branch in DC.
2) How do you worship God with the aid of your BlackBerry? Texting.
3) Does Obama have the Deity’s private email or IM handle? Of course, if Obama doesn't have it, who would?
4) Does God have his? No, Obama decides when to make contact.
Not one tie among them all.
Who cares! I hope he stays well clear of church, and The Church and all of its hypocrisy for his entire tenure as President. Let his predecessor, the high holy one of Crawford, sit in his pew and think about the blood on his hands from thousands of brave young men and women he sent to die in this senseless war in Iraq. If that's the kind of "divine direction" President Obama is likely to get going to church, then please Mr. President, continue to stay away. The country would have benefited far more had his predecessor spent a little less time in church and a little more time verifying those WMD reports.
"The national government will maintain and defend the foundations on which the power of our nation rests. It will offer strong protection to Christianity as the very basis of our collective morality. Today Christians stand at the head of our country. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit. We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theatre, and in the press – in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of liberal excess during the past years."
That may sound like Pat Roberson or Tony Perkins or Joseph Farah. It's actually their kissing cousin, Adolph Hitler. Pretty chilling how much it sounds like a direct modern quote from an evangelical leader, eh?
RIGHT ON!
Yah that Jesse, he's a real deep thinker. Pro wrestlers are known for that.
I bet he's streaming Rev. Wright's sermons with his cool blackberry. This way he can still get the benefit of the good Reverend's wisdom without the messy decision-making of which church to attend. Besides, this way, he can probably watch Sportscenter when Rev. Wright isn't frothing at the mouth.
Joe, you've gone over the deep end. Comparing Adolph Hitler to modern day evangelicals is a sign of a bigot. The Christian haters try to use this and only make them selves look foolish. If you really believe this you need to seek professional help.
A simple question: Why MUST the president attend church at all? Is he not allowed to worship privately, in his own time and his own place? Why the demand for this big public show of Christianity?
It's a conspiracy, man.
Isn't that convenient.
I can think of one imposter, err .. Obama
And by the way, please pardon us. From now on Big Journalism will run all stories through you to insure they are appropriate.
Can I pose a question to you? Who sent you here? No one is buying your fake concern for Big Journalism's integrity.
let me rephrase, Obama thinks he's god.
And so do a lot of people at MSNBC.
Obama will need a priest that performs Exorcisms.
Although Kathyinks “finds this piece quite objectionable from a Christian viewpoint,” I would like to emphasize the ‘a’ in her sentence. SHE may find it objectionable, but I think that most who claim to be Evangelical Christians would not.
She says “Many things” are hard about finding a church, but does not name one. Her “probably” in respect to the President’s Blackberry ought at best to be a “possibly”, as there is no evidence whatever that this is the case. And to say that Obama and God have each other’s private e-mail address and IM handle is simply silly. Prayer, yes; e-mail and IM, absurd.
Further, without any evidence whatever, Kathyinks assumes that Obama’s “faith” is such that he has “turned his life over to God” in something at least remotely resembling an “Evangelical Christian” way. Obama’s views on abortion may be incomprehensible if one assumes he’s an evangelical Christian, but if one considers his background and his apparent beliefs, his view of abortion fits right in. To me, the problem with Kathylinks isn’t that she fails to voice typical “Evangelical Christian” terminology, but that she fails to understand that there is NO evidence that Obama is a Christian, whether weak or strong. This makes irrelevant her citation of Romans 15: 1-5 and, essentially, the rest of what she’s written as well. I hope that being a “staff member” of the church to which she belongs does not involve any teaching responsibilities.
Sorry, but this piece seems like yet another bit of attack journalism aimed at destroying the credibility of a public official. Unfortunately for you, the majority of people who would be turned against the President by this article are likely already against him. In response to the questions posed, however:
1) What’s so hard about finding a church?
Finding a church is about finding a place that will help you along your own spiritual journey, somewhere that can help to keep your faith firm. Various churches offer differing interpretations of the Bible (or whatever religious book they preach with). It’s more than just a building, the important part is the message being delivered and the community with which you worship.
2) How do you worship God with the aid of your BlackBerry?
The Internet offers a lot of very useful tools for everything from academic research to spirituality. With the vast amount of information available and the efficiency of Internet search engines, people can find places online that, as stated above, deliver the message, interpretation, and information people need to further their spiritual pursuits. As the BlackBerry is one of many phones capable of Internet access, this is likely what he’s doing.
3) Does Obama have the Deity’s private email or IM handle?
In the strictest sense, no, because God does not use email or instant messaging. However, that does not stop you or your readers from reaching Him. It is somewhat ludicrous to think that Obama prays through the Internet. I feel it is equally ludicrous to think that anyone prays through a book. Prayer is a direct communication to God – between creator and creation. Or, in the Catholic world, between creator and creation with an intermediary priest in the middle. Prayer does not need the Bible. Prayer does not need a BlackBerry. The only thing prayer needs is belief in the Deity and belief that the prayers are heard.
4) Does God have his?
As God, in every religion I’ve looked at, tends to be omniscient, yes. Sorry, but this is one of those stupid questions that we were told as children do not exist. If God knows everything, it’s obvious that God has Obama’s email address. Does God send the President email? He could, but would need to create an email account to do it. But since belief requires faith that God exists, which by definition lacks scientific evidence to prove said existence, having an email address would be scientific evidence of His existence and thus invalidate the faith of those who receive that email address. He works in more subtle ways.
On the bright side, if the things he’s being attacked for are limited to how he worships God and whether or not he has found a church, Obama’s doing pretty well. Why not report on things that actually effect the country – like energy policy, health care reform, the stumbling economy, the war in Afghanistan, our stance on Iran’s alleged nuclear program, our stance on North Korea’s very real nuclear program, what we’re doing to combat terrorism, humanitarian aid provided to poverty-stricken nations and those who have suffered natural disasters of catastrophic scale? Any of these seem (to me, at least) to be more important to the people of the United States than whether or not Barack Obama has chosen a particular building in which he worships God.
After all, shouldn’t we be worshiping God everywhere? In every building, and outside?
Well, Doug…yesterday the American Family Association (on their national radio show, no less) called for the imprisonment of gays for forced "reparative therapy." Tell me what rounding up millions of a minority group to send them to re-education camps sounds like to YOU?

OMG, Jesus was Jewish. What a f*cking moron Wright is. Or maybe he's not a moron – maybe he knows the kinds of lies he needs to tell to get people feeling good and victimized.
Or maybe he's crazy.

Hedy, you moron……………the separation between church and state means that America won't have a STATE ( NATIONAL ) IMPOSED RELIGION and nothing more and nothing less. It is all about the freedo TO worship as one sees fit.
I really do think he believes in some kind of god. Remember when he was caught praying in the basement with Reverend Wright?
The problem is, his god is a recent creation, born of Black Liberation Theology – a deity whose only commandment is, "Thou shalt not be white."
You may have never heard of them, but the AFA is considered to be one of the most powerful evangelical Christian groups in the United States. The Southern Poverty Law Center ranks them as one of 11 major anti-gay hate groups in the United States.

It's ironic that you use the term "Christofascists," because here in the real world, the most deplorable fascists the world has ever known have all been vehemently non-Christian. Sucka.
This clown couldn't find has a$$ with both hands and a magnifying glass…..
Well in your reply you use the southrn poverty law center witch is 3 notch's below the aclu and acorn in my book. have youself a nice day.
Okay, I don't know if LinR is a troll or not. I guess it was inevitable there would be gamesters online from the beginning. The article is too snarky in tone, but the point is quite relevant because it fundamentally speaks to Obama's honesty with the American people. He wanted to fit in as a christian with all the other presidents, many of whom were also a bit weak in that department too. But they did not lie about it. He was okay with 20 yrs relationship with Wright, but trying to say he never heard Wright say the obvious stuff (cf. O'reilly interview) is just bogus. Truth is, Obama is just not a Church going Christian, whatever you want to make of that. They did not even go to Church on Christmas..so, I don't want to hear from him anymore about his "Christianity". He's finished here and needs to take his lumps with Evangelical liberals that he tried to hoodwink during the election. Naked fraudulent politician. Period.
you are exactly right. thanks.
Who's he fooling anyway. Reverend wright's church was Michelle's and Barry was just along for the ride. Actually, Muslims were encouraged to attend.
Truthfully I've never heard of them, but it didn't take long to find similar comments directed at Christians on your site. Seems there's plenty of hate to go around on both sides. Tell you what, when you hear of someone with the authority to do this talking about it let me know. Otherwise it's no different than the radicals on your side. Hate is equal opportunity.
He can find time to announce at a college basket ball game (how much did that cost?) He can find time to take his wife to New York for dinner (how much did that cost?) He can find time to go to the beach in Hawaii (how much did that cost?)
Maybe he really is NOT a Christian. Maybe he believes HE is God, so he is doing church every day, worshipping himself.

There has got to be at least one good black liberation church teaching the greatness of Marxism somewhere in the DC area that would be more than happy to host the Obama's!
TUCC is not a Christian church – it's a Black Liberation Theology church, and that's not Christianity. It doesn't appear that spirituality is a big part of Obama's life in any case. Basketball, yeah. God? Not so much.
So the merciful kitten killer is not going to post any more inane ramblings? How sad…. Oh just as a parting aside LiR, who asked YOU what "the correct direction" was for any of these sites?
Please be careful denise! All that ranting and arm waving will cause you to spill your Kool-Aid……
Nor do you have to read my comments… That's what freedom is all about.
this article and these comments are disgusting. no one is in a position to judge how others practice or exhibit their faith. it's a matter between them and their god. the hypocrisy of these so-called "christians" posting here is abhorrant. ronald reagan also never attended a church in DC when he was president there. did you doubt his faith?
BO's not in DC enough to do his job so you know he has put no time in for church. I agree with all that he sees himself as the one. I say impeach, God knows there is plenty of evidence to start procedure but then I guess we have to wait until 11/2010 when we start voting them out!
He goes to the same church Ronald Reagan went to.
Ronald Reagan never joined a church in DC either.
The mindless drones here don't understand that their arguments can be reciprocated. It's a cult of delusion.
The United States is not a Christian nation. It's that simple.
Barack Obama is not obliged to attend church anywhere and, even if he did, it's not your privilege to stay informed of his place of worship. And your claims that he utilized religious affiliation as a political ploy during his campaign are grossly naive. He's not the first politician to employ empty promises to win the support of a certain social bloc and he certainly won't be the last.
Your Sunday school anecdote was cute, though.
Haha. Technically, any subject can be linked to the media. How does this relate to journalism besides the fact that a media outlet reported on it? That was a laughable cop-out, Walsh. You're going to have to try harder than that.
Boom roasted.
because there's no mosque within walking distance of the white house?

imbued?
Blow it Out YOUR ASS, MOTHERFUCKER!
Obama can GO TO HELL.
1. The United States was formed on Christian Values and most of its Citizens are Christians. But, that wasn't my point
My point was that I don't know a single Christian who would say that the United States is not a Christian Country and think that was a positive thing.
2. Where he worships and how he worships is none of my business- I'll give you that one
3. I never stated that he is the only politician to use religious affiliation as a political ploy and you never disagreed with it. It is the wrong thing to do and shows a complete lack of character and respect for Christianity.
4. Thank you.
See, no one who thinks it's bad in the country needs to leave the country. If that's the case, the whole tea party movement can move to some Island where we can all forget about them. When it comes to the pastor saying "nigger", he wasnt calling anyone that name, he was telling a story. One that too many blacks have experienced in their past and obviously he did too.
A christian minister once told me that it's good for all christians to learn other religions. He said that it makes them a more well-rounded christian in the end.
GUEST: HE HAS 3 NAMES, BARACK OBAMA, BARRY SOETORO, STEVE DUNHAM. WHICH ONE DOES ALLAH CALL WHEN THE BLACKBERRY IS USED??????????? GOD BLESS AMERICA
