The Palin haters of the left are such morons. They actually think a few words on a hand are equivalent to the teleprompter. It's hilarious to watch them foam at the mouth over this.
Problem is that most Americans see that Palin can speak eloquently about a subject with just a few words as notes, while the O cant even read his teleprompter well, as displayed in the now famous "Corpse-men" speech, where he blew the word, blew the Corpsman's name, and blew the Creole word, all in once sentence.

Sarah's not the only one using this technique. There are times when the President is not in front of a teleprompter- since they still haven't developed one portable enough for him to wear- and he too needs some subtle reminders. As a professional in the evil Health Care business I find myself writing notes on my hand on a daily basis. I will write a 1 or 2 word note to remind me of something. I do not, however, have an entire diatribe written out for me and projected on a teleprompter. Does that make me stupid?????

Speaking of BHOzo being a lecturer of Constitutional Law (or whatever it was), I've not heard anything about any of his former students coming forward to say they attended any of his lectures. I know that when Newt was Speaker of the House, I knew two people who said they were in his History class when he taught at West Georgia College.

You know the MSM has run out of thing to bash Palin about when they criticize her for a few words written on her hand. And they call us stupid. I wonder how many times the left has called us stupid this past year, and how many stupid, dumb, type words have been leveled at Palin. By the way: The reason Obama used teleprompters when talking to those sixth graders is because the kids were sitting on the top of tall shelves. That's why he never looked forward or down.

CNN is insufficiantly nuanced. They're not the same kinds of aids at all.
A one-word prompt makes the speaker responsible for every word that's said, in real time, and it's up to her eloquence to put the idea across.
A full-speech teleprompter, in contrast, simply makes the speaker a talking head. His speechwriter provides every word of the content, the speaker's 'eloquence' provides merely the form. Any other talking head could make the same speech. Since when is the script-reader's little dance in the spotlight considered 'eloquence'?

While I do believe that a woman would be a better candidate than ‘ANY MAN’ and that if women ran the Nations of the world, we would have peace, children everywhere would be eating, education would be the highest priority, teachers would be making salaries into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, crime would be few and prisons would be mostly empty. However, Sarah Palin is NOT the woman for the job. The Republican Party is looking for ANYBODY who can challenge the Greatest President of The United States, Barack Obama. Even as an African American male I would have voted for a woman, but not a Republican woman. The Republican Party is chauvinists and they are not seriously planning on allowing Sarah Palin to run this country. She will be the face, but the hands pulling all the strings will be a male Republican. Also, I do have the highest respect for Sarah Palin and what she’s done so far, I just wish she was with the Democratic Party, at least the Democrats would allow ‘her’ to run the Nation and not instruct her on what to do.

As for really smart people, my husband has been in the intel business for 34+ years and has dealt with his fair share of Beltway knuckleheads. Every time some slick pol or talking head pundit is praised on TV for being "very smart", he remarks "Nuclear physicists, astrophysicists, engineers…those are smart people. Personally I have no vested interest either way about Palin and her future prospects (i.e. I could care less what she does) but what bothers me the most is that if you've seen the clips from the Saturday convention she has to glance down at her hand to remember her conservative viewpoints for fixing the nation. My problem is that any candidate who doesn't know their platform inside and out, regardless of party, must be further examined for they are only seemingly voicing popular opinion and not their true beliefs. I'd love to give her and any other potential politician the benefit of the doubt, but as a person who's done public speaking before I've never had to rely on notes* to cover what I know in my heart.
*I will use notes for quoting correct stats or figures because we know how some critics love to bend errors.

I'm no expert on psychology, or anything like that, all I have is my own experiences to go by.
I think it has something to do with how people look at the future. The past is nice, and settled, and over, and in a lot of cases, not nearly as bad as we thought it would be at the time. Nostalgia. Human nature.
How ever, humans look at the future much differently than we do the past. The future is unknown. It could be bad, it could be good. Natural pessimism makes a lot of people expect bad, and fear even worse.
So how do humans deal with this anxiety? Lots of different ways. As many as there are people on planet. Because, basically, the only real difference between us and dogs, is we know we got it coming, it's only a question of when and how. And dwelling on that thought too long can have serious impact on our daily lives.
Personally, after a life time of floating from one influence to another, settled on religion. It doesn't offer all the answers, but I can agree with the mind set on most issues. We're here for a reason, and the best way to get through it is to help each other.
Others look towards a strong father figure, or at least a nanny figure. Enter government, and the Marxists, communists, socialists, modern liberals and progressives.
If I had to sum it up, I'd say I look for redemption not in this world, but in the next. They think redemption can be found here on earth, in their life times, if only they could find the right leader.
Which is why I use the term messiah frequently when referring to Obama. Because that's how they view him. As I understand it, in Judaism, the Messiah is not God, like in Christianity, but a real live, flesh and blood human, selected by God and led by God.
I think that's what they're after.

During the Republican convention in the Twin Cities the CNN crew had their hand-held camera guy move around the far back of the stage to get a shot of the teleprompter glass with text scrolling by while Gov. Palin spoke. Not sure if the idea was to show that she wasn't using it (reportedly the system crashed for the first part of her speech) or if they wanted to show what a dummy she was for reading her speech. By the time they "took'" the shot the prompter was operational. This is the same network that wouldn't even SHOW the prompter rig while Barack Obama was speaking at various venues. The last time I say BHO answer a question off the cuff it reminded me of how smart George W. Bush must be. He never stuttered and stammered like BHO when he was asked a question on the fly.

Sarah knows how to wing a speech. Obie's handlers try to limit his Q&A's lest he open his mouth and once again insert foot. As for giving a speech while not on a prompter, he's incapable of it. On the campaign trail, when he was attempting to speak off the cuff, he kept repeating the same phrases when he wasn't stammering and stuttering. I knew then that he was completely disengaged and therefore a fraud.

So what if Palin used her hand. Palin is a great speaker. She spoke cohesively with spirit, humor and passion for 45 minutes without a teleprompter.

1. So what if Obama needs to lean on a teleprompter. Wish GWB had done this more. He was a deplorable off the cuff speaker but did set speaches very well.
2. Using notes is a common practice by any extempraneous speaker. Writing on the hand is rather sloppy, but if Palin had used written notes, even a 3×5 card, her critics would have sniped at her for that. She was probably using her hand hoping it would not be noticed.
Lets all talk about what is being said. How about the fact that what Obama says has now relation to what he DOES, and bounces back and forth with moral equivalence so much he sounds like Dr. Suess.
Yeah, Glowbama made a "major announcement" to five or six local reporters and still needed a Teleprompter to talk about the funding of a major and successful (supposedly) program.
