I'm no fan of John McCain. His work in the Senate to pass a law allowing Congress to abridge my freedom of speech is all I'll say about that.
But McCain has too much respect for the chain of command to do something like that (though it would be cool, I'd love the opportunity to do that myself).
I think what he did was show a lot more dignity than the President did. From some of the sound bytes I heard on Rush, I think the GOP pulled it off pretty good.
The mob in the White House wanted to steam roll the opposition. The opposition wasn't steam rolled. So that alone makes it a victory.

I don't think I've ever seen as arrogant or condescending a performance as the one Obama gave yesterday. To be honest, they ought to throw the summit into the mix for Best Picture this year – it was excellent political theater, and was about 2/3 fiction and 1/3 unadulterated Republican fact.

McCain was talking about the promises that both had made during the campaign when obama proclaimed the "campaign is over."

Obama's performance yesterday reminded me of a snotty law school professor lecturing a class room of 1st year students. Everything from the tone of voice to the upturned chin reeks of arrogance. I was glad to see the Rebublican leaders at the meeting were fully prepared. The came off very well.

I think this whole thing was a farce – the fundamental dissagreements are so large that a love in was out of the question. What Obama thought was that he could use his vast elequence to sway the american public, and possibly explain to all the idiot sheep why they should love him, above and beyond common sence.

When anyone presenting their business card you will see the name of the company they represent in big bold print. Their names will be much smaller and beneith the Name or logo of the company they represent. The "Founders " never visualised an arostocracy, in fact they went out of their way to divorce the new country from any ties to that system. We the people need to remind our Representatives that they are only in a temporary job subject to our support. When they leave their job as Representative they should return to their names.

While I thank you for your service to our country, I must disagree that McCain should have called Obama, Barry. It's the office of the president we respect, not necessarily the the person holding the title, so we must always show that respect especially at official functions. Obama was wrong to call McCain, John for a lot of reasons not the least of which was the difference in their ages. Had the Republicans at the table started calling the president, Barry, the whole farce would have turned a plus into a very bad minus for them.

What I could never fathom is how the military officers are insulted and denigrated by our elected leaders and never just get up and walk out. I was in the military for 11 years and served for 4 years in the DC area. The crap that I saw there on how our elected officials and the political minions treat the military members was a freaking disgrace (I had a run in with "Uncle Teddy" and my OIC had to restrain me because he thought I was going to thump his ass because he kept hitting me with his briefing papers, to the enjoyment of the Clinton types in the room).
I would love to have seen Boxer try something like that with either Patton or Macarthur. I would pay good money to see one of these hard charging war general of the past have Boxer or Clinton (remember the General Betray-Us crap?) try this stuff and the general either just get up and leave or tell them off.
