Yes, Patrick Kennedy, the soon-to-be-former Congressman from Rhode Island, substance abuser, drunk, late-night car crasher and all-around whackjob, was in the news again today, lashing out at, well, pretty much everybody in one of his farewell addresses to the nation.
Amazingly, he went after the media. From ABC News’ The Note:
“It’s despicable, the national press corps right now,” Kennedy bellowed.
Kennedy’s outburst came as the House debated a measure sponsored by Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-OH, that would set a timeline for withdrawing U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
“If anyone wants to know where the cynicism is, there’s two press people in this gallery,” Kennedy yelled as he gestured up to the press gallery above the House floor. “We’re talking about Eric Massa 24/7 on the TV. We’re talking about war and peace — $3 billion, 1,000 lives — and no press, no press.”
“You want to know why the American public is fit?” he continued. “They’re fit because they’re not seeing their congress do the work that they’re sent to do. It’s because the press, the press of the United States is not covering the most significant issue of national importance and that’s the laying of lives down in the nation for the service of our country. it’s despicable, the national press corps right now.”
As Kennedy spoke, the floor of the House was almost as empty as the press gallery, with only about a dozen of the 431 members of the House in attendance.

I laughed when I watched Patches' performance. I used to live in his district, and still have friends who do. They are up in arms because neither Patrick Kennedy, or Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse are doing what they were elected to do, represent and legislate based on their citizen constituents' interests. Instead, they are exploiting their positions to make money by selling out their citizen constituents.
Patrick Kennedy's district office is just across an overpass from one of the city of Pawtucket, RI's struggling high schools. Over Kennedy's term in office, the school has been a yard stick of what the corruption of the democrat party has brought about. The illegal alien population has increased, and also the costs of providing the frivolous programs democrats demand they have.. which has meant drastic cuts to actual education programs. In fact there have been many periods of time, where there aren't teachers for classes for months at a time. The dropout rate has increased dramatically. Unemployment has lead to homelessness and suffering that has destroyed citizen families, and Patrick Kennedy couldn't have cared less. He hasn't bothered to actually look at what his advocacy has brought about.

We've tried to educate Pat on our national security choices: there's 2. Fight the deadly terrorist organizations at home with the local cops (ala Clinton) or fight them in the open deserts in sw asia with a coalition of the worlds' best armed forces. Koblog, if I could mod you up 100 I would do so. I lived in the JFK times, and really, the only thing the man accomplished were tax cuts. There was also an intangible he left, which was that the country was feeling very good about itself, and people had an optimistic viewpoint unlike anything we've had since. It may not have been him in particular, but the idea of a young and (seemingly) vigorous president did the country a hell of a lot of good.
As for "Bwahbee" (RFK), my opinion of him is best stated as follows: what happened at the Ambassador Hotel was a godsend.
