Bet CNN’s Octavia Nasr, the network’s “senior editor for Middle Eastern affairs,” wishes she’d never sent this Tweet:
Sad to hear of the passing of Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah… One of Hezbollah’s giants I respect a lot.
Yes, you read that right: an American “journalist” expressing admiration for a leader of a terrorist organization.
Even for CNN, that was too much. She’s just been fired. From Mediaite:
In the latest case of new media (or oversharing) gone wrong, CNN’s Senior Editor of Mideast Affairs Octavia Nasr is leaving the company following the controversy caused by her tweet in praise of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah
Mediaite has the internal memo, which says “we believe that her credibility in her position as senior editor for Middle Eastern affairs has been compromised.”
As if further proof were needed that a sizable segment of the Fourth Estate is now effectively the Fifth Column, this one is right up there. Apparently it’s no longer enough that reporters and correspondents pretend to be neutral, even about the good guys — now, they’re not only not neutral, they publicly express their admiration for sheer, malevolent evil — a man who, according to the obits, was “known for his staunch anti-American stance.”
Good Lord, is this what American journalism has come to?
In the aftermath of 9/11, the MSM engaged in an utterly predictable exercise of its time-honored pattern, and went right out and hired as many Arabs, Iranians and Muslims as it could find, in the interests of “diversity” and “understanding,” and elevated those already in their employ to new, more visible positions. The Beirut-born Nasr had been with the network for twenty years; according to her official CNN biography:
Since she joined CNN, Nasr covered every major Middle East story. During the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, she traveled to the region and contributed to CNN’s award-winning coverage of the conflict. In 2005 she reported from Lebanon and Syria on The Cedar revolution and its regional repercussions. In 2003 she managed the 15-member Arab desk which coordinated coverage of the Iraq war, and provided CNN domestic and international audiences an inside look into Arab media and culture and how they viewed the conflict.
Nasr’s experience and deep knowledge of the Middle East put her in the spotlight during CNN’s coverage of September 11th and its aftermath. Shortly after the attacks, she spent months traveling in the Middle East region coordinating on-air appearances and forging exclusive newsgathering deals with media partners.
Kinda puts all that in a new light now, doesn’t it?
After the controversy broke, Nasr tried to Twitter her way out of trouble:
Regret tweet about Fadlallah death bc I didn’t explain specific respect for standing up for Muslim women. http://bit.ly/adrp95
But it was too little, too late. Here’s CNN’s don’t-let-the-door ave atque vale:
From Parisa Khosravi – SVP CNN International Newsgathering
I had a conversation with Octavia this morning and I want to share with you that we have decided that she will be leaving the company. As you know, her tweet over the weekend created a wide reaction. As she has stated in her blog on CNN.com, she fully accepts that she should not have made such a simplistic comment without any context whatsoever. However, at this point, we believe that her credibility in her position as senior editor for Middle Eastern affairs has been compromised going forward.
As a colleague and friend we’re going to miss seeing Octavia everyday. She has been an extremely dedicated and committed part of our team. We thank Octavia for all of her hard work and we certainly wish her all the best.
Parisa.

Thats one dagger in the heart of a commie network. Now lets just see if we can twist it.
We need to ship all these anti-American terrorist-loving haters back to Iran! Who are they friggin pandering too? and why do we have to contiually put up with this?
Is she the anchor at Al Jazeera yet?
There's a burka waiting ………….
It is so sickening to see example after example of the left wing media's biases. And yet Americans watch this poison – year in and year out, coming from the traditional three networks, newspapers like the New York Times, Hollywood et als. Conservatives, at least, should studiously avoid this poison – in fact, conservative media like talk radio and even Bbart needs to rethink the strategy of oohing and aahing every time Chris Mathews or his ilk lays another egg – we know they are biased, we know they are fools, why – WHY – give them free publicity? It sometimes gets to be like two pro-wrestlers talking trash to each other – c'mon guys! At least now know that the media is slinging poison hash – all those decades when there was a phony patina of objectivity – poor Nixon – he got killed by a media determined to reverse the will of the people!
Why don't you go where you can "admire" these giants of humanity up close and personal? Who's next? Indeed…
MSNBC or NPR will scoop Nasr right up–the left looks after its own.
May he rot in hell.
Octavia Nasr = Traitor to America, Freedom, Peace and Professional Journalism
…Buh bye, Beatch
'Journalists' are too stupid to be trusted with Twitter.
Al Jazeera -Al Queda- Al Jol'sin-…They all want her…No surprise there…!
Pam… you rock..
She is a conservative compared to Olberscum or that guy Maddow
You are deleting my comments on post …I think you have a software problem
Idea…
There is talk of a "spy exchange" with the Russians… Why not a "journalist exchange" with the middle east?… We would probably be better off.
I love the way that the progressive/liberal/terrorist loving/anti-American types are all being more open about their beliefs and expressing themselves for all to see them for the type of people they truly are in reality.
We have to ensure these fools are exposed, challenged, and expelled from any place of authority over citizens of our great country.
Whether they be a daycare worker, a teacher, a schoolboard or community board member, head of the MIS department for the town, or whether they be in any place of influence at state or federal level, they must be exposed for the frauds they are, and never given the opportunity to influence others again.
Considering all the trouble that Islam has caused, is causing, and will continue to cause, why is that we keep allowing Islam believers to immigrate here? Are we nuts? What is the motive for allowing so many of them to come here and stay? Maybe we are self-flagellaters like the morons who walk down the street in Mecca whipping themselves with chains? What does this whacked out religion, descended from some 8th century desert dweller, add to our cultural makeup except for the potential of bad news ad infinitum? Don't get it, just do not understand it at all. Cannot be explained in rational terms.
Journalists are so arrogant these days that they need a 24/7 way to get their views out there. Keep using those facebook and twitter accounts. Let your hair down and show us who you really are!
I'm sure Obama has a job queued up for her at NASA.
Somene said it already but I concure she could have a great future over at MSNBC.
Obamo the clown wants NASA to make Muslims feel better so perhaps we should write Death to Israel in large red letters on every new American Rocket. Ship
So let's see American President, Black Racist
Attorney General, Black Racist
NASA Director, Black Racist
OK then the trifecta….
A future spy is borne. Just start tapping her phone now and save us all the trouble.
Like Helen Thomas, she made the mistake of outing herself. In truth her way of thinking is very common in the relic media.
Surely Media Matters is all over this….

Of course this was just a "sudden" and "momentary" "indiscretion". There is no way it could possibly serve as evidence of the bias on CNN during the years she was their Middle East editor.
Riiiight.
