Eric Boehlert will believe unsubstantiated claims by Congressman John Lewis ($100,000 to anyone who proves them) over 4 seperate videos that show them to be untrue.

That's the trouble with the whole progressive club – they never let the facts get in the way of their agenda.

MarkEidel - July 21st, 2010 at 8:35 pm

I was a little discouraged at first because Andrew was stuttering quite a bit, but it was good that he eventually firmly made the case, easy to make as it is, that the NAACP's accusations against the Tea Party are not only false, but also hypocritical. I have to say, it's frustrating to hear Media Matters referred to as a 'watchdog group' when they are so obviously nothing of the kind. [Does his name even matter?]'s hysterical assertion that the lies of John Lewis et. al. are a matter of 'he said, he said' when the events regarding those lies are actually on video made me laugh out loud. Just as irrelevant and laughable was his arrogant declaration that he would take John Lewis's word over Andrew Breitbart's any day. As if his endorsement is worth something!

The damning facts revealed by the video of Shirley Sherrod's speech at the NAACP could have been made with greater impact, less distraction, and less potential negative consequences by using video from the entire speech. This should have been done. However, the way she was treated by the NAACP and the Obama administration is very instructive and would have been missed.

Although, I am not as sympathetic as most seem to be. Sherrod confesses (to applause from NAACP members, which of course, is the point of the expose) that she was indeed a racist not only in her heart, but also in her discriminatory actions. I'm encouraged for her sake that she has, at least to some extent, repented. Nevertheless, this is a serious thing she has done. While it seems she was dismissed hastily, I'm not sure she should get a free pass. I have to add, I'm not certain that she has.

Mr. Breitbart, you have proven to be a 'force for good'. Please continue to maintain the highest of journalistic standards as well as the utmost in patience and perseverance. Thank you and soldier on!

EdSki - July 21st, 2010 at 8:44 pm

Stellar example of the left's primary anti-debate technique.

Change the premise of the debate. Mr. Breitbart sets the premise, the response of the NAACP audience. And that twit from Truth Doesn't Matter does everything he can to change it to Sherrod herself.

That's exactly how they do it, and you've just shown up a wonderful example of how to defeat it. Do not let them do it.

If you let them do that, they've won. If you prevent them, you've won. It's nothing but a cheap, Jr. high school trick. I'm cool, I say you're not, so every one pay attention to me, and ignore the certified uncool person.

vhistory - July 21st, 2010 at 8:44 pm

Breitbart looks like a buffoon. He shirks responsibility for his attack on the poor woman, and then has the chutzpah to start attacking others. All he had to do was apologize/say he was wrong for attacking a woman without knowing the full context, and then note that the NAACP is hypocritical, etc. He doesn't though. He acts like his original intent wasn't to attack her, but show that the audience members came off as racist. But that's clearly not what he was trying to do.

I think the NAACP was wrong to call the Tea Party racist(all parties have racist elements), the Department of Agriculture was wrong to fire her(and I truly hope Vilsack and Obama notice the mistake and reappoint her), and Breitbart can't even apologize for wrongfully attacking her.

EdSki - July 21st, 2010 at 8:45 pm

If they dealt with facts, they'd have to get real jobs.

And digging ditches is, like, hard.

EdSki - July 21st, 2010 at 8:49 pm

I find the fact that she was under the bus by quitting time that same evening quite telling.

The left is starting to get the picture that the charge of racism is losing its punch. So like any good Marxist, they are completely ignoring Marx and doing the opposite. They are building fences around the charge to keep other people out.

They are protecting their scarce resource.

Keep falling for Democrat bull and the poor will eat you.

smellyfinger - July 21st, 2010 at 9:01 pm

You could be sitting in front of speeding train and Eric Boehlert would tell you the train isn't coming.

simtax - July 21st, 2010 at 9:10 pm

You might do as I did, Write media matters and ask why they only monitor conservative media. (They state this on the site) I asked them why the only focus on Fox, the Wall Street journal and other Conservative media outlets and of course they refuse to answer. When I send them emails about stories that are misleading or out and out lies, not only do they ignore the email, they refuse to acknowledge they received it. I guess George Soros doesn’t pay them enough to tell the truth.

GaltFan - July 21st, 2010 at 2:11 pm

Eric Boehlert : Who am I supposed to believe? John Lewis, or my own lying eyes (and ears)?

Exhibit A as to why I could never appear opposite of such a disgusting and disingenuous person. He would have been "pants on the ground" -along with the rest of that empty suit you just watched…

EdSki - July 21st, 2010 at 9:12 pm

Isn't that cute, watching a modern liberal trying to use objective logic to support a subjective theory.

It reminds of a puppy getting caught with their nose in a garbage can they know they're not supposed to be in. I just want to pick them up and love 'em up like a horny toad, but you know, in the long run, that's not going to help.

Your entire screed is completely illogical, devoid of any facts, and all pure conjecture. In other words, your modern liberal brain is basically vomiting on your key board.

You want to debate this issue in a rational (otherwise known as scientific) debate, I'm game. But you do not get to pass off your opinions as facts, because they are opinion, and not facts.

Try again amateur.

Here's a good one from http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/989413....

Madison — State elections officials narrowly rejected a Milwaukee Assembly candidate's attempt to run with the slogan "NOT the 'whiteman's bitch' " under her name on the ballot.

Ieshuh Griffin, a Milwaukee independent running to replace retiring Rep. Annette "Polly" Williams (D-Milwaukee), said in response she would sue the Government Accountability Board for infringing on her freedom of speech.

"I'm not making a derogatory statement toward an ethnic group. I'm stating what I'm not," Griffin told board members. "It's my constitutional right to freedom of speech."

GaltFan - July 21st, 2010 at 9:16 pm

It's just a sense of fairness from the "progressives": If we have the right to hold the "wrong" opinion, then they are "entitled" to use the wrong "facts". Two wrongs done to the Right. Seems "fair" to me…

EdSki - July 21st, 2010 at 9:25 pm

Check out Red Eye's web site and see if they have any links to Robot Theater. They are hilarious.

They're probably ignoring your emails because they are busy with lotion.

Mmmm, lotion.

EdSki - July 21st, 2010 at 9:26 pm

Link doesn't work.

Jamesb - July 21st, 2010 at 9:36 pm

While your post was full of fact. If you read his original article, it should have been clear that he was attacking Sherrod. Breitbart said that her "federal duties were managed through the prism of race and class distinctions." He based this heavy claim on an out of context clip. He should apologize. I find my self in rare agreement with what Jonah Goldberg of the National Review says:

I think she should get her job back. I think she's owed apologies from pretty much everyone, including my good friend Andrew Breitbart. I generally think Andrew is on the side of the angels and a great champion of the cause. He says he received the video in its edited form and I believe him. But the relevant question is, Would he have done the same thing over again if he had seen the full video from the outset? I'd like to think he wouldn't have. Because to knowingly turn this woman into a racist in order to fight fire with fire with the NAACP is unacceptable. When it seemed that Sherrod was a racist who abused her power, exposing her and the NAACP's hypocrisy was perfectly fair game. But now that we have the benefit of knowing the facts, the equation is completely different.

By the way, DoS stand for Denial of Service, not Demand of Service.

EdSki - July 21st, 2010 at 10:22 pm

Typo, I'm a terrible speller, yes denial of service. If it passes spell checker out it goes.

I believe the Big sites are currently under a cyber attack. And as such, I'm attempting to do my best to help alleviate the issue.

If you aren't one of those troll who are celebrating free speech by preventing it, I do apologize. I'll be happy to partake in honest rational debate on current issues with you, as long as you are polite. I promise the same.

But at the moment, there is a lot going on. As near as I can tell a bunch of trolls have figured out some method to artificially inflate their "p" count to make them look respectable, but are just flooding the big sites with crap posts.

directive10289 - July 21st, 2010 at 4:40 pm

Let me try to understand you and your infinite wisdom Eric. What part of "So…..I didn't help the white farmer as well as I could have" with the audience laughing and clapping is taken out of context? Andrew and the video made it clear. How convenient that they didn't play that part of the video on Good Morning America. As much as I'm enjoying my summer, November can't come soon enough.

AnitaMiller - July 22nd, 2010 at 12:05 am

Fantastic job, Andrew! Boehlert NEVER has to answer questions about ol' Shirley's racism, the NAACP's racism, Obama regime racism..

The sweetest part is that Andrew's arguments are indisputable.. 'out of context' Boehlert can't come up with a decent rebuttal, merely the dreaded racism mantra.

Thanks, George, for letting Andrew get his points out. Thank you, mighty Andrew, for informing millions of us "Big" readers to the truth, and speaking for us when the right is unduly attacked by the lib wolves.~

lakecrazy - July 22nd, 2010 at 12:53 pm

Nice, Boehlert gives George permission to show the videos Andrew was referring to re the Congressmen's false (lying) allegations about the N word being screamed 15 times in Washington. George didn't show them though.

libh8er - July 23rd, 2010 at 1:30 pm

I love to watch body language. Boehlert couldn't look Breitbart in the eye…… How interesting.
