***UPDATE: “Hardball” Defense of Breitbart Memory-Holed

Today, on MSNBC’s Hardball, Chris Matthews acknowledged (and appears to be the first member of the mainstream media to acknowledge) that the video Andrew Breitbart posted in his July 19th Big Government article about an NAACP audience’s reaction to a particular moment in Shirley Sherrod’s speech, does in fact include Ms. Sherrod discussing her redemptive revelation (transcript from Newsbusters):
CHRIS MATTHEWS: Well, there you go. [Quoting Ms. Sherrod] “I opened my eyes. I realized it wasn’t about black and white. It was, but it was about other things, about poverty.” So … that part, that part in there about redemptive revelation was actually in the initial tape.
This then prompts Mr. Matthews to ask his guests, Governor Howard Dean and Joan Walsh, a question that answers itself:
Yeah, but why do you think if this was a complete slime job, why do you think Breitbart kept that in there, Governor? Why did he keep in that part – let me let the Governor in here. Why did he put the redemptive part in here at all?
Dean admits he has never even viewed that 2:36 video in its entirety! Nor has he even read Andrew Breitbart’s original article, which states:
Eventually, her basic humanity informs that this white man is poor and needs help. But she decides that he should get help from “one of his own kind”. She refers him to a white lawyer.
Of course that has not stopped Dean from appearing on multiple networks and ripping Fox News as being racist for having played the video of Shirley Sherrod released on BigGovernment.com (yes, the same 2:36 video he has not watched all — any? — of).
It’s reasonable to assume Dean isn’t the only member of the media or punditry guilty of this negligence. While the Democrat Media Complex rushes to condemn Breitbart for not offering adequate context in his multimedia presentation, how many actually stopped to read and watch the context that was given in the first place. (Hint: The over/under is Chris Matthews.)
Will the rest of the MSM follow Matthews’ lead, take a breather from their feeding frenzy, and follow suit? Or will they continue to mischaracterize and misinform?

Chris Matthews is still a turd.
And Dean, well he's nothing more than a scream on a stage, and a loser, from years ago, consistently demonstrating those abilities.
I know for a fact the moronic trolls that converged right after the frenzy never read the original article or saw the video in question.
Let me help Matthews rephrase. If this were a slime job why would Breitbart have used the "redemption" part of the speech and not the more racially charged parts. Hmmmm
This is more of the same kind of criticism of that they made of the Arizona law. They purposely avoid informing themselves. That way when the truth finally seeps out, they can claim that they weren't lying because they can say that they never actually viewed the object being discussed. Someone just hands them their talking points, and they go about the business of propaganda.
What an easy question. Of course they will continue to mischaracterize and misinform.
Dean really shows his ignorance(nice word) regarding the video of Sherrod. From his actions and speech patterns, I could assume he was misspoken(another nice word). That should help Andy in the alleged lawsuit.
We are witnessing the implosion of the left. The race baiting, urinal list, Rangel, and the economy, etc….
All we need now is more pressure and a clear Republican conservative plan of action.
No mercy…no pity…. We the people will encompass their doom!
I would love to see Chris rise to "curb level" , while all the other lying media is still in the gutter.
Shirley was fired by the WH before FOX and AB even saw the clipped vid…let alone the entire speech..
Besides it was more about the audience reaction to the racist comments than anything else….

How can the Chairman of a national political party (even the criminal National Socialist Democrats) go on a VENDETTA against a network and a internet content provider – Fox and A.B. respectively, spew lies and vitriol and have NEVER SEEN the ENTIRE 2:36 minute video clip? HOW? WHY?
I have ZERO stake in this story and I read the ENTIRE TRANSCRIPT for my own edification. I'm not on T.V. and I READ IT, how come Dr. Dean didn't take 2:36 out of his BUSY life filled with lies, limos, lunches and largesse? Why?
Because Dean expected Matthews to SOFTBALL his way through this interview. How come Chris Wallace of Fox News(20 plus years registered DEMOCRAT – Fox anchor) didn't ASK DEAN IF HE ACTUALLY WATCHED the whole video?
If Eric Holder can't find the time to read Arizona's immigration law and still find it to be offensive and anti-federal government, why should a hack like Dean have to watch the clip or use his minimal brain powers to read the transcript himself? Leftist Dims don't care about little things like the truth or common sense or logic when their feelings and agenda are more important for them to make judgments.

Doesn't make up for the thousands of times he carried water for the Left. But it's nice to see that the stopped clock was right this time.
It was actually nice for Matthews to call him on it, once. I'm *shocked*.
Holder is in incompetent criminal. A.G.? He should be parking cars at a Nevada whorehouse and cutting lawns.
This makes Matthews all the more pathetic because it demonstrates how he can, in lucid moments, be intellectually honest. From time to time back when I watched Hardball, I could tell Matthews struggled between the role of partisan hack and quasi-objective journalist. For the most part, the former always trumped the latter. Yet there were times, even some when I didn't agree with him, that Matthews displayed an ability to discern the truth. I quit viewing after his left-wing partisanship made those programs almost non-existent. I won't reward a rabid dog for not slobbering. Any objective person could view the Sherrod tape Breitbart orginally posted, along with the comments, and realize this wasn't a hatchet job. Quite frankly, viewed in context, it is hard to do a hatchet job on Sherrod. I don't know whether or not she is a racist, but she certainly is a piece of work. The question is whether that makes her different from or similar to most of this Administration.
I know Chris is shaking his head about Obama's total incompetence…
I have a feeling this is just the begining of the end of the Obama "mystique"..

What a joke. It was clear Breitbart was trying to smear Sherrod with claims of racism. After the fact, he started saying he was actually pointing out audience reactions. Lie.
This proves it….. Howard Dean is breathtakingly stupid.
It's kinda funny how we have such low expectations when it comes to honesty in the msm. So when we do get it, we almost feel obligated to give them (in this case Mr. Tingles) a pat on the back for actually doing their jobs. It is so pathetic what the media has succumb to.

Dean NEVER even saw the video prior to claming BB a racist, Holder and most other on the left NEVER even read the AZ immigration enforcement bill prior to announcing it as racist, No one ever debates the actual positions of the Tea party, or Sarah Palin they just play the race card or attack on a personal level ignoring any reasonable debate of the issues. No one ever read the health care bill prior to the vote claiming it was the solution to end all solutions, uhh, seems like something to me…..
Face the facts, the left does NOT want to engage in any factual based debate on anything… They just want to continue their old playbook of divide and conquer… It has worked for centuries..
Who knows why Chris asked the question he did, All I can say is way to go Chris, Maybe he slowed down his thought pattern for one minute and was able to see the facts for what they were…
Help is welcome from where ever it comes, I applaud James Carvel for his standing up for his fellow Gulf Coast neighbors and criticizing the Obama administration. ( I really hope that Mary knocked some sense into that bony skull of his..)

I also have to give Matthews a little credit on this one. It seems to fall into the blind hog finding the acorn once in a great while category though. Much too rare to be in the stopped watch being right twice a day category. But you know it must have killed Matthews to take that side of the issue. Its almost as if he was forced to by the undeniable facts, though if it was up to him, he'd have just used the old news, move on to the next issue ploy to try to sweep it under the carpet.
Dean slammed Fox before he even watched the video.
Holder slammed the AZ law beFORE he even read it.
Congress passes big big laws beFORE they even read them.
"We have to pass it, so we can find out what's in it".
Give us a break Lord, how is it possible that we have these kinds of goons running our show? And what? We're not supposed to NOTICE?

Y'know. I normally don't feed trolls, but if you bothered to look at the original article, the original video posted, they are entirely consistent with the stated purpose.
In short, evidence of someone acting from their stated intentions is taken as proof of their lying.
