Open JournoList Thread: Ben Smith, Politico

I don't know enough about Rand Paul to make a firm decision, but he CLAIMS to only want a political office to achieve a specific goal, and won't run for re-election if he does. Now We knows if this is true, certainly politicians (aka pathological liars) have said such things, and even when breaking their word get re-elected.

I guess my point is, We do need more politicans with a concrete goal, less of this nebulous 'serve the people' BS or a 20 page wish list of how they want to change the world.

Also, Like Sarah Palin, although Rand Paul may be flawed, anyone who the statist hate THAT MUCH has to be good for the country.

I remember Tom Brokaw lead off his nightly newscast one night with "Elvis Presley, who sang like a black, …. "
It would be a big disappointment if Tom wasn't a journolista.

I don't give Benny that much credit, but no doubt there are lots of hackers on Soros's payroll.

Ben Smith is a despicable hack – nothing but one of the hordes of de facto lobbyists for all things Obama, pretending to be "journalists". Of course he was a member of JournoList – unapologetically. And he must be part of EssentiaList or CabaList – the successors to the now-defunct JournoList. They think they are so "cool" – part of the clique of elitists who know so much better than us dumm yokels in flyover country.

Remember "Ellie Light" – the fictitious letter-writer who sent the same letter, which defended Obama against his critics, to scores of newspapers across the country? Some papers, including my own (McClatchy-owned Raleigh News & Observer) printed the letter as an editorial. The only newspaper actually interested in reporting on the scandal was the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Exec. Editor at the N&O had no interest whatsoever in printing a clarification or correction. You know, I have had the same problem, I told my husand that it's the left that are infecting the users of conservative sites.. I now constantly have to delete my account… I am inundated with viruses, it has happened twice this week already..

No. It's a problem presenting it in the one-sided way he did. Period. I don't claim to know whether it's real or not, but i can tell you that Williams never presented both sides, except when portaying opponents as "Deniers"

Good point and thanks for that link to the fool's post on Ellie Light. Smith is either easily fooled or just plain fraudulent (or, better yet both). In either case, he is an embarrasment. I notice his made up story in now closed for comments.

Sunny-if this were 1082, wed be calling Politico "pravda", Iszvestia, or Tass. They are just that bad. The Chicoms arent even that obviously slanted.

Ben Smith smeared Rand Paul, and to my knowledge never retracted the story once the source came forward to deny any kidnapping had taken place. Ben Smith then smeared Paul again the next day with another story. Ben Smith might as well just put up DNC campaign commercials for his blog, it is the same as his stories.

I log into Politico's Ben Smith section once in awhile JUST to mention JournoList. I'm not alone. I mention JournoList – credibility and that pretty much does it. This slimeball is a disgrace.

I agree, but we need to boycott ALL organization's advertisers that have journolists. It is the only way to clean out the cess pool. We need a list of the orgs and their advertisers.

When Mike Allen returned to Politico, Ben Smith wrote a nice piece offering all Politico readers an explanation about WHY he was allowing a writer who'd originally left his writers pool to become a publicist (or something) for ultra-lib, abortion cheerleader Wasserman-Schultz.
Smith basically assured us that Allen could retain his journalistic integrityand impartiality upon returning to Politico from a pig-sty of liberal slop.
I gave them a chance (idiot), and felt that Allen's access to DC and writing acumen was worthy of our trust.
WRONG.
I turns out both Allen AND Smith are douche bag JournOlisters – not to be redundant – since JounrnOlist = douche bags.

The fact that Allen lied to us — and Smith swore to it — has drastically changed my opinion about Politico. I thought they were a decent and fair mouthpiece, which could provide me with some balance. Instead, they are like the rest of the liberal trash in DC; liars all.
So the only time I bother with Politico.com now is when it's linked from Breitbart's Bigs. Other than that, they are no longer bookmarked and no longer trustworthy as news professionals.

Too bad – Allen is an excellent writer, but that's where it ends.
And they BOTH know it.

I used to go to Politico just to take part in their polls because apparently 2/3 of their readers are conservative, but I don't really do that any more. Ben Smith is probably the worst guy on the site.
