The mighty Sarah Palin, not in any political office but who somehow nonetheless rules the world from her Facebook page, clearly terrifies this pathetic little man, Michael Joseph Gross, who was all over the media today to promote his largely unsourced hatchet job on Sarah Palin.
Yes, that’s right: Sarah is so terrifying that no one would speak of her on the record, which is why Gross had to, um, quote unidentified sources about her martial relations, her shopping habits, and other such things crucial to our understanding of her as a politician.
Even on the left, the reviews have been terrible. The Washington Post blogged:

The media LOVES Palin every bit as much as they love her running mate and the man she defends and supports: McCain. BTW, Palin's support of the Marxist system in Alaska where the profits of the oil companies are shared with the citizens makes her a funny "conservative" standard bearer. And even when conservatives understand it, it is a very popular system. Where are the conservatives outraged and opposing it? Are they scared? Perhaps Marxism isn't as unpopular as you would like to think. Once people get past the propaganda-level of understanding, the notion of the citizens actually being shareholders in the nation seems appealing. Call it what you will, Marx would approve of it I think (correct me if I'm wrong.)

The Alaska state constitution claims common heritage rights of ownership of oil and other minerals for the people of the state as a whole. The citizens aren't sharing profits from the oil companies. The citizens own the mineral rights and each year they receive a payment from the royalties that the oil companies pay to use their land. Not so much a Marxist system.

We're good here CL, shut all the wells off a couple of days ago……now it's a waiting game
for the moisture to dry down in the kernels, probably at least three weeks. We need warm
breezy days with no humidity so this corn will dry down fast. We have some 100 day corn
that might be ready to go before that. Most of it is 120 day stuff.
They renozzled that sprinkler down to 500 gpm from 750, and I think they finished irrigating
that circle without the well breaking suction. We'll have to pull the pump and go back with
a different impeller and maybe less stages. We can't wait until spring because there will be
some recharge over winter, and we could run into the same problem again. There is a silver
lining in every cloud, at least we were on the last irrigation when that happened. Next year
we'll need to cut back to half circles of corn and plant cotton (shudder) or some other crop on
the other half. We just hope that this same scenario will spread over enough years that we
don't need to rework all thirteen of these wells over two or three years. That would be a hellofa
financial blow. But hey everybody else is gonna be broke too so we won't feel like the Lone Rgr.

If she's as Marxist as you claim, you'd be first in line to vote for her. But unless Palin confiscated the oil companies from their owners and redistributed their profits to each according to their need, it's not a Marxist system. I believe it's something more along the lines of the state residents owning the mineral rights and leasing them to the oil companies. The profits from the lease are distributed evenly among the state residents. So wealth isn't exactly being confiscated and redistributed. And it's in the state constitution, which Palin didn't write and was bound by oath to follow, so your entire argument is pointless.
Its called "profit sharing". Private businesses make "profits", which are then distributed to the "shareholders", which include "citizens" when the resource is on public land…. Under marxism, the state owns everything, there is no "profit". All resources and power is controlled by the "nomenclatura" Is that what you want?

I am not really weighing in on Mrs. Palin. If she wants to be a politician again, she'll have to work on her voice and speech patterns. They are almost as off-putting as those of the current president.
The question I have after listening to this pip is, how much time did you spend "researching" Barak Obama? Bet not much. When you come back with a story on someone in the national spotlight like him–with sources, I'll give you credit for good journalism.
How hard is it to go to Wasilla and ask around for anonymous sources? That's not reporting. He sounds like a celebrity reporter. "Psst. Did you hear about Todd and Sara? Gladys Kravats said…" That's hearsay and highly suspect. The rest of us learned that in journalism 101.
