Really, GQ? Using cheap shots at politicians to sell your magazine?

I am not sure what I was going to get my husband for Father’s Day, but I can assure you, if the product graces the pages of GQ Magazine, it will not grace our Father’s Day!
The Junior High bathroom wall mentality on Twitter and other Social Media outlets is reaching…and I will not sit idly by while they use my child to do so.
On Friday, Congressman Roy Blunt (R-M0) did a #FF of “Best Buddy” (@bestbuddiesintl) and Special Olympics (@specialolympics) programs. My understanding is that the congressman is an active member in the Best Buddies Int’l program, but he added the sometimes a little more left leaning Special Olympics as well, for good measure.
Regardless of your political affiliation, can we all agree that touting an occasional charity that helps people with developmental disabilities is an acceptable behavior? Even for a Republican?
The MSM has a real affinity for claiming that the right is divisive. They also love to say the right is selfish, greedy, and uncharitable, despite consistent statistics confirming the reverse. So we will all be waiting for the MSM to call out its own GQ Magazine for their attack on these two groups, calling them “tards” in their heroic effort, right?
Don’t hold your breath. This is standard double standard fare for the MSM, and we can only hope that “diners” quit going there!
Our son, Samuel, who has Down Syndrome, is no “tard”, GQ. You, in fact, could learn a lot from Samuel. He would love you in whatever clothes you wore, he wouldn’t criticize you for being from the left, or the right, and if you chose to #ff someone who did good things for others, he would plant a great big kiss on your greasy cheek and give you the best hug you never had. Shame on you, GQ. I think Trig Palin, Blair Williamson, or my Samuel would be lovely on the cover of your GQ Magazine next month. Another lib-lame apology isn’t enough. Put our smart boys on your cover for Father’s Day, and let’s see if they can teach a pig to dance.

I have been stunned to see the REAL way the left thinks of people of special needs. Ever since Sarah Palin hit the national stage, they have let their hatred fly. Heartless, soulless, cruel… The notion that they are better because they would have killed their own child if they found out they had an extra chromosome.

We need the Left to continue just as they have been doing for the past few years. They are getting careless in allowing their true selves to emerge and it is becoming very obvious who are the intolerant, the racist, the bigoted. This is a good thing and to be expected, the truth always finds a way to come out.
The MSM have sold out. I've always thought of our media as an arm of government; investigating claims and ideas, and objectivly report to us- the voting public, the truth. Armed with the truth we can make informed decisions. In this method they (the media) have wielded increadible power, unfortunatly they've squandered that power, and our trust, for a quick buck. As a consequence we see huge declines in newspaper readership – another words people are getting it. There will always be a market for objective truth, whether we'll see a media return to it is questionable at best right at the moment.

I was prepared to raise a Down Syndrome child. My doc told me my daughter might have Down Syndrome, and I should have an amniocentesis to confirm it. Amnios are notorious for causing miscarriage, so I refused. I didn't know until the day she was born whether or not she had Down Syndrome. Turns out she didn't. Sure, we were relieved–I won't lie–but we were fully prepared to accept either scenario.
Sounds like that idiot would rather have a "normal" child who becomes a Ted Bundy.

I have my aunt to thank. She is my role model. She faced the same quandary when she was pregnant with her 6th child. She stuck to her guns and had him anyway. He graduated from Penn State last year, and played on the football team…
I was naturally nervous about having a Down child, but I've always felt they are God's way of reminding us that not everyone on this planet is an a$$, and that their unconditional joy and love are straight from God.
Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I'm going in for my level 2 ultrasound exam because blood tests indicated that I have an increased risk. Hopefully, this test will clear things up for us. If not, my husband and I have to decide if we'll risk the amnio. Either way, it's much too late to think about opting out of parenthood.
Of course, the marxists would never exploit children or minorities. They are so evolved.

If our daughter had a defect that could be fixed in utero, then we would have done the amnio to confirm it, no problem. But my husband and I figured there is nothing that can be done to "fix" Down, so why take the chance?
BTW, the AFP test is notoriously unreliable (something I learned AFTER my kid was born)! I'm still glad I didn't get the amnio. I never would have forgiven myself if something went wrong and I lost her.
When I was pregnant (in 1997), they didn't "diagnose" Down with ultrasound; but I learned later that it IS often diagnosed w/ultrasound. Perhaps that's the case today.
At any rate, best wishes. God gives you only what you can handle; the trick is figuring out how to meet those expectations.

When my daughter was pregnant – for the first time – at age 40 (!) – the docs recommended amnio.
When she told me, I said that sometimes the procedure itself causes problems. Then I said "What will you do with information? What if the baby has Down Syndrome?"
She shrugged and said she had waited so long to have a child that she would have this one, no matter what. She didn't have the amnio, and I now have the most beautiful, healthy granddaughter anyone ever saw.
No "troubles" at all, thank God (and I do every day).

Doc I am autistic and I am a Tea Party Patriot. My autism drove me to become one. Marxists HATE the disabled so this disabled person HATES them. The Founding Fathers said, "life,liberty and the pursuit of happiness." but they DID NOT state only able body people of sound mind. They meant ALL. My American dream is to be "wealthy" like my cousin. Wealth to me doesn't equate monetary wealth. It equates to love and acceptance. My cousin is not disabled in any way. She is married, has a job, a daughter, a cat and a dog. That is the wealth I would love to have here. I have learned that since Down Syndrome can be detected while the child is still inside the mother that 80-90% of them are aborted. To me Planned Parenthood should be renamed Planned Eugenics. Palin is my hero because she sees that the disabled have just as much right to achieve our American dreams as much as normal people do.
