Rancor among religions is one thing, but the questions surrounding the proposed mosque at Ground Zero are an entirely different sort of attack.
The land surrounding Ground Zero is a war memorial. The proposal of an Islamic mosque there is synonymous with a Nazi war memorial in downtown London. How would the world react to that proposal? Wouldn’t Western Europe just about leap off the map if that were proposed? Where is the outrage from our European “friends?”
Perhaps they are confused with the whole rosy picture of “peace” being painted by the Mainstream Media? Perhaps they believe the lie that this mosque is going to exist to “bring religions together.” Is that why they chose Ground Zero, the most hallowed ground in the country at the moment?
I have a proposal for the MSM and their Islamic buddies. I suggest that they, in the interest of religious peace and bringing religions together, extend an olive branch by bowing out of this ridiculous and divisive proposal altogether! If they really were interested in peace and fellowship among the “faithful” they would do the right thing. There is only one right thing to do here, and that is, in the words of our friends from Jersey, Fahgettaboutit!
If the Muslim world continues to fight for this mosque to be built at Ground Zero, they are not interested in peace, or religious dialogue. They are interested in war. They are using the concept of taqiyya (lying) in the best interest of Islam, and they will be further from the hearts of America than ever before.

Since when did the liberal MSM ever care about supporting religious freedom? Where was their self righteous calls for religious tolerance when Sarah Palin's church was burned down 5 weeks after the 2008 election the cross in the desert was stolen?
Their rush to support Islam is a thinly vieled rush to support Obama and to be Sharia compliant.

I all honesty I don't know one person who supports the location of the Mosque and I have friends ALL OVER the political spectrum. This Mosque was not well thought out.
MSM won't lay off. Obama stepped in it and they're going to spin until it's understood–at least in their minds–that opponents of the mosque are "islamophobic" or smell bad. They will not quit until every one agrees with them. This directive has come from the top! Obama goosestepped over to Gibbs himself and demanded that the propaganda be let loose. That is exactly the problem. Instead of a spirit of decency and understanding and the self awareness to understand Islam has a big problem after the attacks on the US from GZ, to the Pentagon ,to Ft. Hood and all the others, we get aggressive, insensitive , name calling and out and out dismissal of the concerns of US citizens.

The only reason—and mark my word, the only—the MSM wants this GZ mosque built is that it is perceived as a defeat for the United States and a slap in the face of Americans. The MSM doesn't care about property rights and religious freedom–quite the opposite, it hates both, but it despises America more. Muslim Americans are split on this issue but two other groups, non-Muslims and the MSM, are not split. If you knew nothing about this story other than that fact, it would be obvious which position of the two uniform ones is the one that values American sensibilities.
I just had to write a comment because I cannot believe that every single comment on this discussion is against this mosque. What happened to the melting pot that America is? Why can't the muslims practice their faith just like anybody else? They are American too, right? If the Catholics wanted to build a cathedral on the spot I suppose that it would be okay? Who owns the land anyway? If so many people are against it, how come the land is even being made available to the mosque builders in the first place? If they don't sell them the property they can't build it?
I'll be the first to admit that I don't know a whole lot about the in and outs of this whole deal, but I do think that our country was founded on the belief that we are all equal and free to practice our religion whatever that may be.

i guess the argument is that NO muslims died in NYC on 9/11, only at the pentagon, therefore a mosque near ground zero is a victory memorial contrary to the one in the pentagon which is a prayer space.

I guess you missed the argument completely. A mosque in the Pentagon is a lot different from a mega-Mosque at ground zero. The proposed GZM is a huge structure rather than a one room chapel in an office building. The main supporters of the GZM have ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, Saudi fundamentalist funding, and have uttered anti-American comments. The GZM will also house the Sharia Index project with the stated intention of introducing sharia law into the United States. So please don't give me the simplistic answer that it s simply a prayer space. A little education can go a long way here. Please check out the articles at Big Peace.
