I am married to a Cuban who remembers well the "beneficence" of Fidel's and Che's Cuba. His father and older brothers were arrested and tortured (physcially and mentally); his large family was allowed one chicken a month and had to survive primarily on rice and chick peas (often just rice); toilet paper was an unknown commodity; water was turned on for only a few hours a day; in school he was subjected to constant pro-communist propaganda; independent thought and expression in school was punished, etc. etc. etc. Oh, and by the way, every neighborhood had one or two people who were designated members of the "committee". Their job was to report to communist officials anything which they interpreted (behaviour, conversations etc.) as being antithetical to "the revolution".

If anyone in this country idealizes the lifestyle provided by Cuba's communists, he or she is welcome to travel the 90 miles off the coast of Florida to join the communist collective of Cuba. However, for some strange reason, very few pro-communists ever seem to do so….hmmmm.
