From a speech by Jimmy Carter at the University of Havana on May 14, 2002 which was broadcast throughout Castro’s islandwide fiefdom and trumpeted worldwide by all “news” agencies with Havana bureaus:
My nation is hardly perfect in human rights. A very large number of our citizens are incarcerated in prison, and there is little doubt that the death penalty is imposed most harshly on those who are poor, black, or mentally ill. For more than a quarter century, we have struggled unsuccessfully to guarantee the basic right of universal health care for our people. …but Cuba has superb systems of health care and universal education.

Thus did a former President of the United States prostrate himself before a regime that jailed and tortured political prisoners at a higher rate than Stalin’s and murdered (in absolute numbers) more political prisoners in its first three years in power (out of a population of 6.4 million) than Hitler’s murdered in its first six years (out of a population of 70 million.) Not to mention that Pres. Carter’s host insulted his nation as “a vulture preying on humanity!” and came within a hair of nuking it.
There’s more:
Medical care (in Cuba) was once for the privileged few. Today it is available to every Cuban and it is free….Health and education are the revolution’s great success stories.
– Peter Jennings, World News Tonight, April 3, 1989
Castro has brought great healthcare to his country.
– ABC’s Barbara Walters, Oct. 11, 2002
Even today, Cuba has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world.
– Katie Couric reporting on NBC’s Today, February 13, 1992.
Frankly, to be a poor child in Cuba may in many instances be better than being a poor child in Miami, and I’m not going to condemn their lifestyle so gratuitously.
– Eleanor Clift, The McLaughlin Group, April 8, 2000
Unluckily for the above “news analysts” and Human Rights spokespersons, the people cursed by fate to live under Castro/Stalinism have a drastically different story to tell, as we already saw here.

And even more unluckily for Castro and his MSM auxiliairies, the internet has pulled a stunning and (to them) infuriating end-run around his traditional MSM defenses. So word is getting out. Which means the story is getting even better (meaning horribly worse) and the rotten egg on the face of Castro’s media courtesans gets even thicker and more malodorous as week chases week.
During that cold snap in mid January, Cuban dissidents snuck out (by internet) a report claiming that over forty patients had somehow frozen to death in Cuba’s Mazorra mental hospital (not far from the one featured in Michael Moore’s propaganda film, Sicko.) Cuba’s Stalinist regime–along with the journalistic valets, eunuchs, and trollops to whom it grants press bureaus and “journalist visas”– were utterly mum on the matter, however.
It took three days (as the word spread through the mostly Spanish language web) but finally the Stalinist regime issued a terse and exculpatory press-release on the matter.
Just last week pictures of some of the dead were snuck out of Cuba, which proved that hypothermia alone was not the cause of death, any more than it was the cause of the death for the prisoners at Dachau or Buchenwald. Horrific malnutrition and savage beatings were plain to see for anyone genuinely interested in the causes.
Needless to add, such interested parties do not include any of the journalistic valets, capons and drabs who have earned “press” bureaus and “journalist” visas from Castro. True to form, these dutifully connived with Cuba’s Stalinist regime, as they have for half a century to hide the catalogue of Castroite horrors.
But don’t take my word for it. Apparently tormented by their consciences, two Spanish journalists have just released mea-culpa- books (sadly available only in Spanish) about this conniving. “Self-censorship is a very common practice,” one writes. “No journalist on the island can write the truth of what happens there.” Whatever their faults, at least these Spanish journalists finally came clean. On the other hand Barbara Walters, Dan Rather, Andrea Mitchell, Ted Turner, Herbert Matthews, etc.?

The Cuban health stories ignored or buried by the MSM would require an entire 24-hour network broadcasting for five decades to disclose. Senor Marzo Fernandez, an economist who until defecting in 1996, served as Secretary General of Castro’s Ministry of Nutrition, gets us started:
The average height of Cubans has decreased by 8 centimeters in the past 25 years,” he reported on Miami television. “For the first time in Cuban history, thousands of macrocepahlic children (abnormally large heads in proportion to their bodies) due to protein (primarily milk) deficiencies have been found in the eastern provinces.
This in a country that prior to the glorious revolution enjoyed a lower infant-mortality rate and more doctors and dentists per-capita than half of European countries, plus a larger middle class than Switzerland
Back when Alan Colmes had his cushy job on Fox he berated your humble servant here: “Oh! ..OK! So now, forty years after his death, all of a sudden you discover all this horrible stuff about Che Guevara!”
“No, no, no,” I patiently explained to greatly learned Mr. Colmes. Many have been documenting and broadcasting accounts of Castro and Che Guevara’s butcheries, imbecilities and cowardice for decades–but the mainstream media was too busy eating out of Castro’s hand like trained pigeons to pay attention. So these horrors could never make it past the mainstream media filter…Well Alan– hate to break the news to you, buddy– but your side’s media monopoly is over!”

Beware the government that gives you "free" stuff, it's a trap!
"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have."
~ Thomas Jefferson ~
Ask anyone who has ever had to use the medical care facilities of ANY commie/socialist country and they will usually tell you that it is a freakin' nightmare.
Were Cuba ever to adopt our torts system, their medical care "paradise" would be crushed from malpractice judgments.
The Ministry of Nutrition is coming our way by a smoking president and a first baby's-got-back. Alan Colmes? Never mind.

The peanut head from Plains, now relegated to being the 2nd worst POTUS in modern times…
I wonder if the DNC has Jimmah locked up in the basement, or perhaps in the Nervous House. He has been strangely absent of late, going back to the fall, when he came out with his explanation that everyone who disagreed with hussein Obama was a racist.
He is an idiot.

HUMBERTO– Another great article….
It's always surprising to me how any American,, can support dictators (Left or Right), who do not uphold human rights, basic decency, and Freedom of Speech.
Folks like Peter Jennings, Andrea Mitchell, Katie Couric, Elenor Clift, and Babs Walters, and the like, MUST have a serious mental disorder aside from Liberalism.
If you read first hand accounts of the everyday and unceasing brutality that goes on in the prisons and jails, in CUBA, and all totalitarian states..it's truly shocking.
I know a few Libs who seem to uphold our Constitution and Bill of Rights, so it's something different…Far more pervasive and demonic.. I believe they admire the raw power weilded by dictators and wish an American leftist could rule so" wisely and compassionately", (in their sick minds)
(cont' below)
I, being a Freedom of Speech lover and upholder, would not take away anyone's right to voice support for the likes of Fidel and that ilk, but by virtue of their MSM celebrity useful tool status, we allow their loud, sick voices to pollute the simple-minded, uneducated madras public school "graduates" , who continue the excuses and derangement that we in the US and all the oppressed in CUBA, must live with…
I heard Jimmah was giving spiritual counsel to "Tickle Me Eric" Massa.
It seems like our Democratic presidents have trouble sticking to the truth! A couple good cartoons about Obama's "truthfulness" at http://drawfortruth.wordpress.com/category/truthf...

I've often wondered what would happen if we normalized relations on the condition of free travel between the countries. You know, we'll open up trade, but you have to open up your streets. My hypothesis is that statism/Progressivism would be weakened in the US and Cuba, here because we would have a much better view of what it leads to, there because a communist state cannot survive even a limited amount of economic freedom plus a open exchange of ideas.
Really? How's that working out in China or Vietnam? We have more than normalized relations with these countries and they are still communist police states.
What ends up happening is that the same monsters remain in charge but now they get wealthy.
They will drive BMW's and dress in bespoke Italian suits but they will retain the right to jail or execute anyone they please.
The communist state can survive economic freedom.
Why didn't the president take Jimmy's advice and have his physical in Cuba? This would have saved American taxpayers the expense and, according to Jimmy, the Cuban health system gives first rate care. I can only assume Jimmy travels to Cuba for his health care.
Cuba, where every day is prostrate examination day.
I don't know if there are special places in hell, but if there is, I wonder what the one for socialist US presidents and MSM communist apoligists is like.

I hope there's a special place in Hell reserved for politicians, journalists, and celebrities who idiotically praised and supported the likes of Stalin, Castro, Che, and Chavez. In that chamber, there is an endless loop of film footage showing the atrocities committed by their heroes and there is no pause button.
Some day, the information shared here by Mr. Fontova will become public, and people will scratch their heads and ask "How could we have been so blind?"
In modern times?
You are too harsh on the corrupt, incompetent, and easily deceased of the past.
It actually pains me to discuss that worthless desecration of the human form without becoming excessively vulgar.
Somewhere Caligula and Commodus are kicking back, laughing themselves stupid that Jimmy Carter has pushed them out of contention for worst Head of State ever.
I can't quite get it either HPD. It seems like an infection that's spreading. The schools pumping out liberal drones through an insidious decades long indoctrination process K-12- college. Then continued "education" through the MSM.
We all let it happen, but it's hard to fight something that's been hidden or disguised for so long. Like discovering a termite infestation in your foundation. I hope it's not too late to save our house.
I agree with you, they "must have a serious mental disorder aside from Liberalism". These people, for the most part, have made a success of themselves. I'm thinking it must have a lot to do with instilling a guilt complex in peoples' minds.
HPD, so many lefty students think that dictators are 'way cool' because they're indoctrinated by their professors. These losers are nothing more than "chicken-reds". Those who push for the ideals of socialism/communism, while living under the umbrella of freedom, with no desire to actually live in the kind of regime they purport to love.
wow. got my first 'instant admin-deletion'. Thought the rest of ya were wacky…J/K
they're all chickenreds. In love with socialism/communism, but too afraid to actually live under tyranny. They'll stay under the umbrella of freedom, while they complain about how bad it is.
This story has to be a set up. How can all those great minds be wrong? And that does not even include two of the sharpest, Michael Moore and Sean Penis-oops, Penn. No wonder the msm has their knickers in a knot; they no longer have a monopoly and their spin and outright lies are making them look like the fools that they are.
The Soviet Union was a disaster government. Cuba is too. But these lefties must not face the reality that where ever you have people that are not free, where you have people controlled by the government, you have a bad situation for the people. As we move closer and closer to the total control of our lives by some beaurcrat, we see more and more clearly just how true that is and always has been.
funny how so many lefties praise Cuba, Venezuela, et. al., but you never see any of 'em moving there…
According to CNN International 4 American Doctors studied medicine in Cuba and are working in American hospitals now. They also passed their exams in the US. They have however no debts unlike doctors, who graduate in the US. Castro said that they send doctors into the world instead of soldiers.
Yeah, it's great. Unless, of course, your a black, gay dissident…
prostrate – test
Relish
While the Media is a huge problem, the public school madrasa system is far worse. Mostly liberal teachers, almost all unionized, teaching everything but the 3r's, (conveniently leaving out honest American History), to the kids who grow up to be good little lib drones who accept all the media tells them in an endless cycle of mis-information and aggravating stupidity.
Hey, run for school board and vote for vouchers…
Last week it was announced (source: http://www.americanparchment.com) that if you visit Cuba, you need to have your own private insurance, they will not treat you without.
Hey Randy
(Just got home from work.. First job this month…Obama's grand economic plans ain't helping the housing market)
YOU gotta run for school board up there in WA State…
Then make sure you vote for v-o-u-c-h-e-r-s next time…And every time…Only way to break the corrupt unions, who control the schools that turn out the brainwashed little drones that wreak havoc on society….Endless cycle of stupidity…
Who is Jimmy Carter?
"Castro said that they send doctors into the world instead of soldiers."
Yeah, Castro said…
However, you should ask the survivors of Castro's military support (troops & equipment) for Communist revolutionaries in Southern Africa during the 70's and 80's. There's lots of dead Africans who didn't care for the
'medicine" prescribed by Castro's "doctors"…
He makes me sad to be from the same state as him. I know people who live in Plains, Ga. who will not admit it because peanut is from there
correction – worst head of state ever "so far"
He does have a prett strong contender for the title giving it his best shot right now though
wow, really 4 whole doctors??? The CNN puff piece did not say how many had tried to pass thier exmas in the US and failed. and no i do not know the number but before you get all starry-eyed over 4 doctors maybe you should find that out
He's the pinhead shaking hands with Castro…
Lovely fellow….Obama is serving his 2nd term… Praize the Lord!!
Having predicted said contender would combine the worst aspects of Carter and N.Y. Mayor David Dinkins, I must admit my error, and indeed thank you for reminding me.
". . . worst Head of State so far."
Myself an immigrant from former USSR and to many people from former Eastern Block all this talk about "glorious" achievements of the Communist/Socialist Revolution sounds all too funny – if not sad to the knowledge of idiocy in these particular places.

As to the health-care thing it reminds me of an old-old Soviet joke:
An American delegation came to USSR. The Soviets show the Americans the best hospital in USSR to impress on them the quality of the Soviet health-care. They show the operating rooms, the patient wards, the rehabilitation facilities, the equipment…. At the end of the tour the guides said:
– "You know all this medicine is FREE to every citizen of our country"
To which the Americans replied:
- "In our country this kind of medicine is also FREE"

Distinguishing what is written on banners of proletarian dictatorship and its post-revolutionary reality is very important.

Fontova is clearly a revisionist polemicist. His frequent use of profanity and childish insults also points him more towards sophistry than scholarship. His work is not taken seriously in the academic community because he purposely omits all information that fails to conform to his desired narrative. He works backwards by starting with his conclusion i.e. = "Che is evil" or "Cuba is Stalinist" and then inserts any cherry picked information that will help support this view.
Readers should not be left with the impression from this article that he is a serious researcher, it would be an insult to all those that truly investigate for the truth.
Canon Macro lenses…
In case you did not realize, i am a photographer, furthermore in my occupation, macro lenses are incredibly important….
I would not count on any Liberals to uphold the Consitution, just look what they have done already. This administration is so Liberal, they can't see and won't listen to anything that the tax payers are saying. Obama and his bunch of thugs are just a bunch of Communist., nd want the USA to be a third world country (WORLD ORDER)
I can’t belive it, I love B. Walters. I hope she is going to be better!
