“More than 200 companies have joined a boycott of (Glenn) Beck’s program,” reports the Washington Post. “A handful of advertisers, such as (IPhone owner) Apple, have abandoned Fox altogether.”
We can only assume this Apple “boycott” was prompted by what CBS’s Katie Couric (quoting the Fox commentator’s critics) describes as Beck’s “inflammatory, unfair, despicable, hateful rhetoric.”
This same hyper-sensitive-to-hate-speech Apple, by the way, has just launched an IPhone application featuring Che Guevara’s quotes. Yes! “Now you can carry around Che Guevara’s quotes on your IPhone!”

Alas, many of us, though not customers of this unquestionably hip product, suspect that most of Che Guevara’s hippest quotes are missing from this hippest of IPhone apps. Among those we fear were overlooked by the hyper-sensitive-to-hate-speech, Apple are:
The Negro is indolent and spends his money on frivolities and booze, whereas the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent.
My nostrils dilate while savoring the acrid odor of gunpowder and blood… Crazy with fury I will stain my rifle red while slaughtering any surrendered enemy that falls in my hands! With the deaths of my enemies I prepare my being for the sacred fight and join the triumphant proletariat with a bestial howl!
(This is from Che’s own diaries, later immortalized as The Motorcycles Diaries, though we note that executive producer Robert Redford “overlooked” this unquestionably dramatic citation for his movie.)
Hatred as the central element of our struggle… Hatred that is intransigent… Hatred so violent that it propels a human being beyond his natural limitations, making him violent and cold- blooded killing machine… We reject any peaceful approach. Violence is inevitable. To establish Socialism rivers of blood must flow. The victory of Socialism is well worth millions of atomic victims!
Thus spaketh the icon of the flower children.
The U.S. is the great enemy of mankind! Against those hyenas there is no option but extermination! If the nuclear missiles had remained (in Cuba) we would have fired them against the heart of the U.S. including New York City!
And this:
Don’t Shoot! I’m Che! I’m worth to you more alive than dead!
These famous last words were whimpered with a Eddie Haskell-in-front-of June Cleaver-esque smile on Oct. 8, 1967 in Quebrada de Yuro, Bolivia, as Che dropped his fully-loaded weapons. At the time, Che, dragging along his guerrilla charge, Willi, was trying to slink away from a firefight when confronted by two Bolivian soldiers.
That’s a grand total of exactly two flunky Communist guerrillas facing two Bolivian soldiers, by the way. But then, Che’s bloodthirsty bluster always had a habit of evaporating when facing men (or boys) capable of defending themselves. His stock-in-trade was blasting their skulls apart from five feet while they were bound and gagged. Amazingly, Steven Soderbergh and Benicio del Toro overlooked any depictions of such guaranteed drama in their recent movie.
More of Che’s Greatest Hits:
“Mexicans are a rabble of illiterate Indians.” (Note the Che Guevara banners and T-shirts at Nation of Aztlan gatherings.)
“Bolivian campesinos are simply Animalitos“ (Note Bolivian President Evo Morales’ frequent genuflections to the ghost of Che Guevara and to his puppeteer, Fidel Castro.)
“Youth must refrain from ungrateful questioning of governmental mandates. Instead they must dedicate themselves to study, work and military service. The very spirit of rebellion is reprehensible. (“Che is our fifth band member!” says Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello)
Che the Lionhearted’s image indeed belongs on college campuses. But it’s usually in the wrong places. He belongs in the marketing, PR, advertising –and especially — psychology departments. His lessons and history are fascinating and valuable, but only in light of Sigmund Freud or P.T. Barnum. “One born every minute,” Mr. Barnum? If only you’d lived to see the Che phenomenon. Actually, ten are born every second.
Here’s a “guerrilla hero” who in real life never fought in a guerrilla war. When he finally brushed up against one, he was routed and surrendered while a sniveling, whimpering wreck.
Here’s a cold-blooded murderer who executed thousands without trial, who claimed that judicial evidence was an “unnecessary bourgeois detail,” who stressed that “revolutionaries must become cold-killing machines motivated by pure hate,” who stayed up till dawn for months at a time signing death warrants for innocent and honorable men, whose office in La Cabana had a window where he could watch the executions – and today his T-shirts adorn people who oppose capital punishment!
Here’s a humorless teetotaler, a plodding paper-pusher, a notorious killjoy and all-around fuddy-duddy – and you see his T-shirt on MTV’s Spring Break revelers! Perhaps competent psychologists (if any exist) will explain this some day.
Che excelled in one thing: mass murder of defenseless men. He was a Stalinist to the core, a plodding bureaucrat and a calm, cold-blooded – but again, never in actual battle – killer. Che’s true legacy is simply one of terror, murder and sniveling cowardice.
Apple, we trust, will soon become as sensitive to torture and mass-murder by the Stalinist who craved to incinerate the nation that headquarters their office and facilitates their profits, as they claim to be over a few wisecracks by Fox commentators.

Look, I hate Che as much as the next sane person. He was evil, we all know this. But Apple didn't release this App, a third-party developer did. The iPhone also has apps from Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, and every other right-wing supporter out there. I agree that Che is despicable, but this argument doesn't hold much water.
I don't see how they're "promoting" Che Guevara simply by hosting the app. As much of a waste of human life as the Dear Departed Comrade Che was, I don't think it acts as an endorsement. As for Apple removing its ads from FOX? It's all business.
Excellent post. Truth is always the best weapon. And here, the truth is far stranger than the fiction that the Progressives/Liberals have come up.
Steve Jobs can kiss my red a**…
Che Guevera was a racist homophobic Marxist, who killed his enemies and most of his friends. Obviously the boycotters know nothing about history; but then, most of them were programmed in the US Government re-education camps known as public school.
It's time to turn these boycotts upside down and start denying them our money.
Leftist are like cockroaches, turn on the light and watch them scatter.
What is really sad is that the Apple products are actively marketed to young people, especially college students. For this company to imply that there is nothing wrong in admiring a mass murderer like Che is horrific to say the least. Maybe it's time to boycott Apple products? I think it's about time these morons get a dose of their own medicine.
Hey, who wants to develop apps with these quotes plastered all over the coward's face?
I agree with Andrew. Let's not over reach the issue or develop conspiracy theories that don't exist.
I believe some of you are missing the point.. they pulled support from Beck because disagree with his opinion ( which is their right) but by hosting the Che app they are supporting Che's opinions. If you are going to protest an opinion of one person by pulling your association then it is a logical conclusion that by remaining associated with another person you support their opinion.
I'll reiterate what Andrew and R.S. have said. Apple didn't release this app – a company called Javalava did.
Honestly, if I boycotted or got mad at every company that did something I didn't agree with, I'd have nowhere to shop or go.
Humberto, the lefties simply see Che as "misunderstood". He was speaking in code.
It is Apples responsiblity as to the apps companies they utilize so when the apple hits the ground it is their responsiblity. I feel the, bless their little hearts syndrome from some of the comments.
Thanks Jobs now my wife won't buy me that i-pad since I had her read this post.
Boycott Apple and the rest of the marxist companies including Disney, GE.
That's ok. I'll still watch Fox News but will never own an apple product. Commie bee-otches.
Che Guevera…. hmm, I guess APPLE loves to prop up DEAD THUGS…..
I am guess I am the stupid one… these people that walk around with this KILLER on there shirt MUST KNOW WHAT HE STOOD FOR….
BOYCOTTING Beck, this will just give him MORE FIRE… the MSM and Katie.. I tell you they love to PUSH THERE AGENDA…
MSM, just useless and worthless IMHO…….
That's funny, Apple was up in arms and banned the shaken baby app but won't ban a p.o.s. like che? Boycott Apple products.
Look into the Samsung version of the IPad. The weak link is that big fat video isn't lightning fast but if you are like me and prefer big fat video on a big fat screen then the point is moot. Especially if Samsung makes it a 4G box then they got my dough.
That's my contribution to Boycott Apple. Buycott Beck. Jobs is starting to make me wonder about Apple getting railroaded by Ipad knockoffs. It's not a computer. It's an appliance. Making a better mousetrap is a game that Apple doesn't usually play.
But that's where they are headed. An appliance war? Tough sell Steve.
Remember the Baby Shakking app?? They pulled that. Maybe if someone could prove that Che Shook babies. Will they Pull This?
…and Glenn Beck grows STRONGER and STRONGER…
…and Che is still DEAD…
Funny what happens when you apply logic to anything the Progressive movement thinks. It's like trying to push a brain into the head of a "Zombie."
But Angelia I guess we are the stupid ones. Whatever.
They are responsible for the Che Ap. Do you think they would have allowed a hitler Ap? I have 2 words….Boycott Apple! I was going to buy an i-pad, now I will not!
This is sort of like dumping Edward R. Murrow because of his stance against McCarthyism for Hitler….
If there were a Glenn Beck quote app, I'm sure Steve Jobs would allow it.
Beck is a bit strange in his presentations, but right on in their content.
Does this mean I have to buy a Zune?
That's true, but…would they host an app with NAZI propaganda or Osama Bin Laden's anti-American screeds? Its the same thing.
Whew! Just in the nick of time. I was just thinking about an iphone. Scratch that.
Terrorism vs. domestic abuse – a very good parallel. Obviously Apple is not totally neutral in the apps it offers so the argument about Beck & Che does work.
Well the Progressives get so frustrated because Nothing is as frustrating as arguing with someone who knows what he's talking about. … Just saying
It doesn't seem the boycott is hurting Beck- or FOX- very much, if at all…
It just means other advertisers ('TaxMasters' etc) are buying more time. And achieving results. We don't see the left wing Peter Lewis' aptly named 'Progressive' Insurance backing off of Beck, or FOX-
Do you?…
This Apple is much too Red for me.
Anyone supporting Che Guevara in any way, shape, form, or fashion, should be deported to Columbia immediately after their public whipping.
[...] republic), they have a Che Guevara quote application for iPhones that has some wisdom from Guevara (link): The Negro is indolent and spends his money on frivolities and booze, whereas the European is [...]
My Fox News app from Apple no longer works as of 3 months ago.
My dog poos on Apple along with a host of other big business products. I've become a picky consumer as of late due the rise of social opinion being put out there by multi-national companies. I perfer to shop and buy local as often as I can.
“Mexicans are a rabble of illiterate Indians.” (Note the Che Guevara banners and T-shirts at Nation of Aztlan gatherings.)
Well, democrats formed the KKK, and turned fire hoses and attack dogs on Blacks, and most of them wear their "D" like a badge of honor, so where's the shock?
In a future column, why don't you list the companies that boycotted Glenn, so we could boycott them.
The argument holds plenty of water.
Apple is the gatekeeper and lends tacit approval to the apps they chose to carry in their store.
If someone developed a Lynching Game app or a Kill the Jews app and the App Store carried it…. what do you think would happen?
Judging by the ridiculous difficulty of getting an app on the app store, it does show that they considered this and deemed it suitable. You should read about their rejections and realize their evil.
Keep it up sir, I knew Che was a bragging bully, but your articles shed more light on this Cabrone then I ever fathomed. And, thanks for telling the truth about how Cuba went to hell in a handbasket under Foul Castro. :0)
I just don't get the sense of Apple dropping advertising from the most watched news network. That just seems like a stupid business decision considering Fox viewers outnumber the other networks 3 to 1 at some timeslots.
I couldn't agree with you more. Well said.
Exactly, I think a lot of these defenders don't understand that Apple reviews every single app, and it takes weeks to months to get approved. They made the decision to keep this app and deny others that provide a far better experience than the apps Apple provides. If it competes with their apps they deny them.
Glen Beck sheds light on history and Katie thinks he's a despicable person. I'm not surprised. She lost all credibility years ago. I'm raising 3 teenagers and will no longer buy any Apple products, period. Spread the word to your friends and neighbors.
If Fox needs support to put on Beck….I will be the first to write a check.
Steve Jobs is a weird as you can get. If he likes Che then he is a fascist and should be shunned by society.
CALL APPLE!!!
1-800-my-apple. Tell them that this reflects negatively on them! Their staff is very nice.
Humberto, The hordes of ignorants that worship this cowardly scumbag should be required to read this and sign a release before canonizing this chicken$hit slime. Amazingly enough, those that honor him today are probably descendants of those he has murdered. They're just too stupid to know it, or care.
I am really curious what quotes from Che are on the app (but not curious enough to buy it) Does he ever say anything not violent or racist?
Awh, the secular school system has produced another batch of useful idiots. Next thing we'll hear is that Stalin and Mao
were just misunderstood visionaries for their peoples. The Bible reads, that in the last days, the truth will be difficult to find. We must be at it's front door.
Why not have an app for the ku klux klan? No apple products for me. Steve Jobs you listening?
For them to do this to Beck he must be hitting them where they hurt. The actions on the left are meant to acquire more political power. Civil society means nothing to them. Beck must be onto something if they are reacting this way. I would not Boycott my fellow Americans on the left who happen to disagree with me. Where does it begin and where does it end. It only makes the perpetrator of the Boycott more bitter.
Screw Apple. we can all get by just find without their over priced "status hardware". They will never see a dime from me.
I wonder if Jobs got his new liver from a progressive or a conservative.
While it was not developed by Apple, the company holds tight control over the apps offered. Tacit approval is still approval.
Are you really so terrified that people will condemn you for hanging on to your precious Apple products? Hey man, it's your decision, do what you want, and I'll do what I want to express my dissatisfaction.
Wouldn't it be funny if a tsunami of Apple products started breaking down under warranty and needed repair or replacing.
The few "sensible" comments are apparently from the trolls in the WH. I'm with the majority of America on this one, Steve Jobs can kiss my @$$. HP & Dell will do just fine.
Wow, it's depressing seeing how much people don't think. If Proctor & Gamble does something you don't like, would you boycott Safeway because they sell P&G products? Or would you just not buy P&G products?
Apple, in this case, is like Safeway. You think Barnes & Noble or Amazon agrees with the contents of every book they sell? Do *you*? Yet I'll bet you buy a book from them now and then.
Sheesh.
I'll reiterate what Andrew and R.S. have said. Apple didn't release this app – a company called Javalava did.
Look, I don't mean to be rude but, No sh*t Dick Tracy.
Nobody is accusing Apple of having developed the app.
The article is contrasting Apple's (i.e. Steve Jobs') objection to Glenn Beck and Fox News (as evidenced by refusing to do business with Fox ) to the approval of an app highlighting a murderous racist (as evidenced by Apple carrying the app in their store)
Remove advertising from the BY FAR MOST WATCHED cable news network? That's what I call BAD BUSINESS.
and my half brown/half white a**!
It's really sad that a company such as Apple that is such a great example of a successful, innovative business that offers a superior product and reaps the rewards – still has no idea about the merits of capitalism.
Sort of like a fish that excels at swimming yet has no idea about water.
First, you have to watch the Beck Show. Then you have to determine for yourself if he practices "hate" speech. Then you have to compare his "hate" speech with the likes of Cris Matthews and Keith Olbermann. Then you have to figure out how this is elevated to the seriousness of being beyond the bounds of free speech, to the extent that it should be boycotted.
I have done this, and my conclusions are as follows: Beck does not practice hate speech, but the opposite, every day telling his viewers that non-violence is the course of action, lauding King and Gandhi. Matthews and Olbermann, et al, do practice hate speech, but I will not boycott their advertisers, any more than I would Beck's.
Apple, et al, makes good products, but very bad social/business judgments. Note their declining relationship with Flash Player and with Google, antagonisms that will eventually cost them greatly.
The murderer Che is not the issue. And, most certainly, the issue in the open-source community should be non-existent, because the entire philosophy of open-source is FREEDOM, not enslavement to irrelevant causes.
Not advertising your products on the third-highest rated cable/satellite program because of a political difference is a bad business judgment because, along with being Beck viewers, they are potential customers. And I'm sure that if I walked into an Apple store and said I watch Glenn Beck, they'd still sell me a computer.
ah, more Aggie wisdom!
How do you get a Texas Aggie off your front porch?
Pay him for the pizza and turn off the light.
Screw Apple and their ilk, boycott their crap products, turnabout is fair play!
yup. hit 'em where it hurts.
I wonder if Jobs would have even gotten a new liver under obamacare.
I agree with Tom.Start the list
They are the distributor…you mean they don't make any money from the Ap? They do, so they are also responsible for the content. That's like saying a food distributor who knows a food product is bad and continues to deliver it to the stores is not responsible, because they are only the distributor……I completely disagree with your assessment.
None for my grandson He will have another brand.
[...] Humberto Fontova has much more–as well as juicy vintage Che quotes–in Apple Boycotts Glenn Beck — Promotes Che Guevara. [...]
Exactly right Jamesb. It's very bad business. If you look at the numbers, Fox News would be the perfect place for Apple to advertise. It's not business, it's politics.
I just sent and email to Apple, letting them know that until I learned of their boycott of Glenn Beck, I planned to buy an IPad. But no more.
LOL. I was just going to suggest this. Great minds …
Weren't Che and Castro in Cuba tight? If so does Castro feel the same way about negroes and does the (CBC) Congressional Black Caucus care. Remember when they went to cuba to see thier hero and came back saying how wonderful Castro and Cuba. CBC what a joke!
So, if Safeway started carrying Darkie Toothpaste would you say that Safeway was endorsing a racial stereotype?
If Barnes and Noble puts the conservative books in the Fiction section, does that say anything?
Again the core of this article was the COMPARISON between what Apple objects to and what they tacitly endorse.
That is exactly what someone should do, submit a Glenn Beck quote app, perhaps a Special Duct Tape edition?
If Apple kills that then you have something to point to concerning the Che app.
Did the talking points from Jobs go out or what? That's been stated about five times before you posted and the answer is that, by hosting the app, they are allowing — even encouraging — the continued mis-adoration of Che Guevara. By refusing to do business with Fox News, they are saying Fox News is worse than a racist, homophobic, mass-murdering coward. Is that really the stance they want to take?
There is no conspiracy theory involved. Che was a punk Nancy-boy. Those who even tolerate his memory are scum.
How can you boycott a program you never sponsored in the first place?
I just informed my purchasing dept. that Apple I-phones are not to be considered for the company phone plan. We'll buy 43 Blackberries instead…
We are not comparing Apples to Apples here (no pun intended). Pulling support from a TV station and allowing an app that does not violate any restrictions are not equal comparisons. Now If Apple decided to disallow an app that had Reagen quotes and allowed the CHE app then the argument is valid. As it stands though the app store has a large amount of conservative apps. Now if you want to compare the allowing commercials and support for MSNBC and then pulling commercials and support for FOX then there could be an argument for that. I do not know if apple is on MSNBC in commercial form as I can not Stomach watching MSNBC for that long. So While I believe apple is misguided for pulling ads from FOX, I don't believe allowing this app makes them a supporter of Marxist murders any more than I believe them allowing the drudge report app makes them a supporter of Conservatism.
What in heck is your point?
I hope you mean Columbia University, not the country.
None here!
'The more they isolate and demonize Glenn Beck, the more the people of this country will rally around him…Apple boycotting Beck is an indication that they are doing the government's dirty work…I wouldn't buy an Apple product….,.Che was a thug and a criminal who with his cohort Castro took over Cuba with the lies of freeing them from a dictatorship and they themselves gave Cuba 40 years of hell and a brutal dictatorship….
[ Eli's Hammer ] PROPAGANDA! Like all anti-Che yap.
Che G. was a bloody-revolutionary for sure. He was not a Stalinist at all…though he said Stalinist things to please those who believed that crap.
Che was an anarchist…anarchy was his soul. Like some say in this country:
"The tree of Liberty sometimes must be watered with the blood of Revolutionary Martyrs"…well, that was Che.
Except Che wanted to water every day.
He was no hero as the kids who wear his shirts today think…they would not have liked him.
But you lie when you say he wasn't a bad-ass…he was. All that other crap is from the propaganda mills at the time.
Castro sent him to the Americas to get him out of the way…and likely get killed. The reason was that Che could not stop his revolutionary (bloody) ways once a more benign govt. was called for. Che was an anarchist you see.
The Motorola Droid is better, anyway. Politics aside, the iPhone isn't a true smartphone: it's a touchscreen dumbphone that simulates a smartphone. OTOH, the Droid is a smartphone in every sense of the word.
Jobs is a slow learner. Look how long it took him to open the Apple architecture to developers. Apple was going nowhere until it started locking in Government contracts for schools, and even they were a niche product. The ipod save their collective bacon. However, I'm very happy with my Sandisk MP3 player.
Good for you! Way to stand up to the totalitarians.
I believe your objection may be what is called a "distinction without a difference"
ditto, Angelia. I don't understand why Andrew and such don't understand the simple logic.____They've banned relatively tame apps from their store, apps are no more offensive than Maxim or other men's magazines in a store's magazine rack. Apple has the right to ban these apps, just as any given store has a right not to carry a certain magazine. But by carrying a Che app while they are actively banning other apps and pulling their advertising from Beck (which is difficult to do if you don't advertize on his show in the first place), they are giving tacit approval to Che. If they took a more hands-off approach to the store, the claim that they support Che would indeed be weak.
I had extended family that suffered directly from the actions of this thug. I have first hand accounts of the reality imposed by Che and the Castro brothers. These men commited terrible atrocities on the people of Cuba. As a bussiness owner I was going to switch over our entire computer system to Apple. After fact checking this article, I have just informed our board that we will no longer be using or even considering any Apple products. I will not do business with any company that supports this type of ingnorant and very dangerous behavior anymore. I have drawn my line in the sand. Shame on you Apple Corp. You just lost a customer with money to spend.
Apple sucks anyways. It's a bunch of overpriced gadgets with a shiny Apple symbol. Most of their software sucks too. And Che Guevara? Let me just say that the guy who wanted to BAN rock music sure pairs up well with the company that created the iPod.
Apple can pound sand!
[ Eli's Hammer ] The reason you guys won't buy an apple product is that you probably can't figure out how to use it.
Maybe Glenn baby will draw you a diagram…
"Using the Apple by Glenn Beck:
(1) Take the Apple and test it for socialists by having Rev. Wright look at it.
(2) See if it has ever been rolled in caramel…
(3) Check its stem for commies and nazi's and black presidents.
(4) Put it in your pocket for 3 x 3 days and eat Vicodin while you throw salt on a dead skunk.
(5) Have Hannity chant a matra: "Apple; Apple Corp; Apple Core; Apple Butter; mugwump; mugwump"
(6) have Rush spank himself on the butt again…LOUGLY…3×3x3.
That my friends is how you do the Gelnn Beck Apple Shuffle!"
