This week, thousands of Haitians will be the beneficiaries of Pat Robertson. In fact, long before the horrific earthquake struck on Tuesday, when many of the more fashionable humanitarians who always flock to every tragedy probably would have been hard-pressed to find the island of Hispaniola on a map, Robertson’s Operation Blessing was already hard at work, helping to address the centuries-old tragedy that is Haitian poverty. Many Haitian bellies have been filled in the past, and undoubtedly many more Haitians will live and be fed in the coming days, because of Robertson and his organization, which has given more than $500 million in aid to suffering people since it began in 1978.
Just a little thought worth bearing in mind about Robertson while watching this clip of his High Moral Majesty, Keith Olbermann, discuss damning him to hell:
Of course, Olbermann is also outraged by Rush Limbaugh (Olbermann is always outraged by Rush Limbaugh), but Rush’s deliberate tweaking of the left by using the words of their own party’s leader in the Senate doesn’t need any defense from me, nor does the irony of Olbermann attacking his political rival while people are still dying in Haiti need any further exploration.
Now make no mistake, what Pat Robertson said — or at least its implication, which was that Haiti’s troubles, including the devastating earthquake, can be traced back to an alleged “pact with the devil” — was offensive to just about everyone who heard it. In fact, a large percentage of the voices decrying Robertson over the last two days have come from other Christians which (note to so many moderate Muslims) is a perfectly appropriate response when a member of your own religious community says or does something particularly out-of-line. As much as the elitists and the media like to portray us Christians as thoughtless, mindless automatons marching in lock step to their own worst caricatures, there is actually a great deal of diversity in Christian theology, with two of the things Christians are most likely to agree upon being:
1) Jesus Christ is the risen Lord –

2) Pat Robertson is wrong.
Still, as much as I disagree with Mr. Robertson’s comment, and his theological positions generally, I disagree far more with the gross double-standard that the media employees any time a Christian is involved in a controversy. Fortunately for me, the media must have made their own pact with the devil because scarcely a day passed before the Good Lord gave us a case-study in this overt bias.
The other day, the has-been actor, Danny Glover, did a perfect left-wing impersonation of Pat Robertson, which is to say that he too suggested that the giant earthquake in Haiti was supernatural tit-for-tat for past sins. Quoth Glover:
“When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I’m sayin’?”
Hear for yourself:
Now, some might suggest that Mr. Glover is not invoking the supernatural at all, he is only blaming climate change, but they are wrong. While it is true that Glover said in the same interview that disasters could strike anywhere in the Caribbean because of global warming, there is hardly any widely accepted correlation between atmospheric temperatures and tectonic shifts in the Earth’s crust, and even if there is, how would creating a global government to regulate CO2 emissions one month ago have stopped this? No, Mr. Glover is not blaming global warming, he is specifically saying that the quake is cosmic justice for the political sin of not sacrificing our sovereignty and prosperity to our angry Earth mother. Ultimately, he is blaming America, since we are the ones who have angered her the most with our wealth creation, our invention of clean technologies, and our growing of more trees now than we had a hundred years ago, not to mention other egregious transgressions. Glover’s is as “religious” a statement as any made by Pat Robertson, and just as offensive.
Undoubtedly Keith Olbermann will now boldly rebuke Mr. Glover and suggest he has an empty soul and lives in a virtual hell. Right?
Of course not, because publicly expressing your religious beliefs is only a crime to leftists when Christians do it. Suggesting that Pandora might hate American pollution and capitalism so much that she took her revenge on the poor people of a completely different country, while calling on America to stop “extracting more from the pain of the Haitian people” (what can the richest nation in the history of the world possibly extract from the pain of the Haitian people, exactly?), and to answer the call of “other nations like Venezuela, Brazil and Cuba to accept “another kind of internationalism” is a far lesser crime than suggesting that the God of more than a billion people on this planet might not approve of a deal that many Haitians themselves believe was made by their forbears. Not to mention simultaneously calling on Americans to pray for and donate money for the relief of the Haitian people.
Still, neither the outrage Mr. Olbermann and so many of our media betters feel toward Christians (both those who agree with Pat Robertson, and those who, like me, believe his comments were inconsistent with the New Covenant, and thus wrong), nor the nuances of anti-Americanism, global communism, climate-change hysteria, or Gaia-worship, are being considered by the actual Haitian people themselves as they struggle for survival.
Chances are they are simply praying to Jesus for mercy, and with any luck, drinking clean water provided by Pat Robertson.
Let us all pray with them.

Olbermann is the biggest idiot I have ever seen on tv…what Robertson said WAS uncalled for…however, I would bet the ranch that6 Olbermann still calls Wright ..Reverend!!! What a racists troll he is!!!
While Mr Olbermann has a right to his opinions, I can't help but wonder, just how much has Mr Olbermann has donated to aid Haiti in this time of tragedy? In fact, has he EVER given anything in the name of charity to any relief effort anywhere in the world? I think that in the name of fairness, someone should compare the charity of those on the right with the charity of those on the left. I think the results might be shocking to many on the left who perpetually hold themselves up as beacons of knowledge and enlightenment and elevated moral standing when compared to the great unwashed masses on the right that they have such disdain for.
Danny Glover was unavailable for comment or criticism.
For all intents and purposes, the Old Testament is irrelevant since the most wonderful gift of all, Jesus Christ.
God has told us we will not go through anything like that Flood again. We have Salvation to look forward to today.
God knows we are pathetic sinful creatures, yet he loves us anyway because he knows we are weak given the options.
Ironic how the weakest amongst us, those unwilling to know the power of Jesus Christ, are the very people who look to Gov't for strength and forgiveness instead of God?
In the world of Oberman, his taxes paid to the big government beast, are his donations to charity. His small mind will never admit the private charities did a much more efficient job than his big government could ever hope to do. Only the military could have gotten in faster, but it seems they were given a green light very late in the game. Obama screwed the pouch on this one…. But got the requisite cover from his MSM…
Actually, someone already did compare the charity of those on the right with those on the left. It is detailed in a book titled: "Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism" by Arthur C. Brooks. = ) Interesting reading!
Olberman? Who is she ?
Excellent article! Leftists think they're charitable because they want the government to help people. Wrong. That's not charity. Charity is when you yourself do something to help people. Heaven forbid we should ever live in a country where charity has been eliminated by government "help".
Why do fundamental religious view have to be vilified? Certainly the God of the old testiment was a God of retribution. Many feel he still is. Most Christains today want God to be more Christ-like a loving God who would never do anything to hurt anybody. None of us can claim to be experts. Robertson did not say that Haiti's earthquake was caused by the pact with the devil, it was however, implied. It seems the left has to demonize any Christain, especially those that hold more fundamental views. They must destroy our faith to lead us down their path, they will start by demonizing the fundamentals, then they will start on the rest of us.
Keith is the most vitriolic hateful talking head in all the land. My plan today is to record Countdown, fast-forward to the commercials, and contact each company to let them know I will no longer buy their stuff as long as they advertise with such a hate-monger. And this is more about his Scott Brown comments.
The companies in question would probably respond with "hey it's cheap to advertize there, hardly anybody but a few drones watche it". So KO is cost effective, in his own small way…
Olbermann, Maddow, Glover and other of their ilk, are helping the Conservatives. I say leave them alone, they are the face of this progressive movement and it is an ugly face.
Seems MrOBamba has "Screwed the Pouch" on, well, just about everything…Please send him to California to campaign for the dim-bulb Barbara Boxer….That will insure her retirement….allowing this State to MAYBE get back on track….It's off the rails and takin' that dirt road…
"She's" a Metro-bitch with no nuts….Is KO married?
when was the last time you read the Book of Revelation? No flood there, just fire and war.
Meanwhile I'd bet the ranch that Bathtub Boy Olby is soaking in the tub while bawling and sobbing over the "Teddy Kennedy set" election.
Olberman is slowly going insane, falling into tourette's syndrome with aplomb…. Hey Keith, KEEP IT UP BUDDY—YOU'RE GOING TO HELP GET MANY CONSERVATIVES ELECTED…. they are tired of you and your potty mouth. Journalist hahahahaha,– and unstable, dangerous, wanna be…who never will be… ratings in the toilet sir.
Poor Keith. He was already unhinged. I fear the Brown victory will have him frothing at the mouth for a good long time.
I wonder who we can kick out the senate next? Olberman meltdowns are fun!
If our society is one to put up with guys like overbite & gloater, we, as a civil society are failing. We need not have these people preaching the saintliness of tyranny on their welfare case networks. & we need not ask the government for help. Infinite & immutable laws of nature compel that only the srtong survive.
If America is to survive this, it must find it's strengths in private citizens, who refuse tyranny. & stand hand in hand with each other to bring this madness down.
I would have worded it differently, but what Robertson said was very close to saying that the problems of Haiti are cultural; and Voodou and the surrounding superstitutions are a big factor. In the late 50s the state Department announced that culture did not matter and changed the world for the worse. In most of the impoverished nations, being the leader grants privilege without responsibility. Latin America has exhibited this over and over with their caulderos or strong men.
It concerns me that our compassion without reason can do great harm to the U.S. if we invite the Haitians into the U.S. without requirements to REALLY know our history and our principles of government. We have neglected this responsibility for too long already. The focus of immigration has been on Mexicans rather than those who have cultures that are at odds with ours: Muslims for example. Our internal distruction is from those who say culture doesn’t matter; Christianity is evil; there is no God; we know best.
Boycott Olberman advertisers and maybe MSNBC will rid the airwaves of this pompous Cornell Cow School alumnus. I am going to start today.
I will admit that the left talks the most about charity, but very few put thier money where their mouths are, most would prefer to use other peoples.
Roberston was dead wrong, but that does not stop Olbermann and company from the do as I say not as I do lifestyle. Consider the comentary from the left last night after the Brown win in the Massachusetts special election.
As powerful as this win was, to judge from some of the media's response last night, not only was the election not about the current agenda, the only reason Scott Brown was elected was because the Massachusetts voters were…racist?
I especially loved watching MSNBC last night. You have to give NBC and Newsweek points for entertainment. Watching Keith Olbermann and Howard Fineman dicussing how racist the Massachusetts voters are because they voted for Brown was priceless. But, of course, they are not themselves bigots.

Watching videos of this guy is like trying to pass a car wreck–I just can't divert my gaze. I'm so glad I haven't had tv for the last 4+ years. This is not a SNL skit right?
God wiped out 99.99% of mankind in the flood due to the heinous state that mankind had come to. His timing may have been bad but Mr. Robertson was succintly pointing out the root of Haiti's sad spiritual state ( voodoo being the most popular religion) and the fact that it will have consequences. Does Mr. Boreing also condemn the author of the old testament?
That's how it works…Some people just talk, others just do.
This is a joke, right? Are you saying someone actually watches this Show (I use that term loosely).
I loved Danny Glover, now, I don't think I have much respect or love for the guy!
I can't stand it when a Hollyweirdy tries to express their 'wordly views'. Just stick to looking pretty, and saying mindless things regarding movies, TV & etc. on the Red Carpet. Or go shopping or whatever it is you goofoffs do!
Very reasonable treatment of a difficult subject. Bravo!

Bye bye comcast…hello dish network!
Not great treatment, full of strawman arguments. Regardless of all that, Pat Robertson is a highly controversial figure. This isn't his first time saying something horrible, but some of his deeds match his rhetoric: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,...
And if blood diamonds in Zaire weren't enough, charles taylor in Liberia: http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename...
That you're helping widows and orphans is great, but it doesn't buy you forgiveness when you ship blood diamonds that funds their massacre on the way back. Charles Taylor is hardly a "good christian" that any moral person should go into business with.
Let me get this straight: you compare the public-impact of a garden-variety celebrity with a religious pundit who runs a vast Christian media/education empire influencing hundreds of thousands of followers? Robertson has a long history of self-righteous gaffes that beg ridicule. What’s the Bible say, “Reap what you sew?”
To the previous commentors, SPOT ON!! I'm getting such a wonderful laugh from folks comments on these inane, leftists wing-nuts . What good are cannons for without its fodder. Especially when the fodder is the one pulling the trigger?
I'm a little upset with you, Lazy Jack! I clicked on the site and kept clicking on related videos. You know how you can't just eat one chip? I have work to do! Haha!
Anyway, just to let you know, my husband drove about 250 miles after work, just to be a part of the Scott Brown vote. I would have voted, but time was running out and he would have to take another hour to pick me up. I guess we are racists!
Oh, and FYI, my husband has been in the US Army for about 24 years, former Marine which, like all Military, have fought to give Olbermann the right to rant and rave! I would like to see what bathtub boy has done to help people!
PS: I do not agree with what Robertson said either.

Great article, The charity would have provided much needed aid, given it was actually completed as intended.
