I spent much time during the past few weeks helping my son study for the state-wide World History test he took a few days ago. Working with him through his studies, I learned his class presented a brand new version of history, a version that never occurred. Some can argue different versions/interpretations of events that happened centuries ago, but his text book and curriculum distorted events I saw with my own eyes.

The text-book in question is called World History Patterns of Interaction, and is published by McDougal Littell. Particularly upsetting was the section of the book covering the period from the end of WWII through the 1980s. It sets up the Cold War period with the mistaken politically correct explanation that both sides were aggressors. On page 983 it says:
Both sides believed that they needed to stop the other side from extending its power.” What it should have said was that the Cold War was a battle between the Soviet side wanting to expand its communist philosophy across the world, and the west trying to prevent the takeover.
The book also whitewashes the tyranny of Castro’s communist Cuba. Page 985 says “Soviet aid to Cuba ended abruptly with the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. This dealt a crippling blow to the Cuban economy.” There was no mention of the brutality of the Cuban regime; the fact that all opposition newspapers had been closed down, all radio and television stations were in state control, or that moderates, teachers and professors were purged. Nor was there any mention of the torture and inhumane treatment in Cuban prisons that is still happening today.
Perhaps the biggest rewriting of history was the discussion regarding the end of the Cold War. It talks about Nixon and detente, then boom on page 991:
… fiercely anti-Communist U.S. president, Ronald Reagan took office in 1991. He continued to move away from detente. He increased defense spending, putting both economic and military pressure on the Soviets.
And how does the book explain the result of Reagan’s policies? “Tensions increased.” That’s it!
According to the text book, an increase in tensions was the only result of that “evil” Reagan’s policies. But never fear because, there arose a leader in the USSR who knew not the cold war. Later on page 991, the book explains “.a change in soviet leadership in 1985 brought a new policy toward the United States and the beginnings of a final thaw in the cold war.” Wow, look at that… out of the blue the USSR woke up one day and decided to play nice.

That explanation doesn’t mesh with history (or my eyes). The peace-through-strength strategy executed by the Reagan Administration drove the Soviet economy into the sewer. I saw Reagan announce, what may very well be the greatest bluff in the history of man, the Strategic Defense Initiative (Star Wars). This initiative posed a technological challenge to the Soviet Union and the communist regime spent tons of cash trying to catch up technologically. The part we never told the Soviet Union (until President Obama blurted it out a few months ago) is the technology posed a challenge to us also. The communists thought we were holding a royal flush, but all we really had was a pair of threes; being chess players, instead of poker players, they resigned.

The prospect of Star Wars Technology scared the pants off the USSR, and so did the fact that they thought that Reagan was crazy enough to use it. Crazy like a fox he was. Reagan’s willingness to apply significant rhetorical and other pressures against the Soviet Union, or as he called it, the “evil empire,” made the Soviets pour even more money that it didn’t have into weapons technology (why does that sound familiar?)
At a session of the Russian Politburo in October 1986 Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev tried to sell a groundbreaking disarmament plan including a 50 percent reduction in nuclear arsenals. If he didn’t propose these cuts, Gorbachev told his colleagues, the USSR’s weak economy could not keep up with Reagan’s military expansion.
We will be pulled into an arms race that is beyond our capabilities, and we will lose it because we are at the limit of our capabilities. … If the new round [of an arms race] begins, the pressures on our economy will be unbelievable.
This military and economic pressure from Reagan was on top of the political pressure applied by a Pope born in a Soviet satellite country, Poland. John Paul II provided a moral focus with his constant anti-communist sermons. The Pope’s visit to the very Catholic country of his birth Poland in 1979 stimulated a religious and nationalist resurgence centered on the Solidarity Union movement that galvanized opposition.
Reagan imposed economic sanctions on Poland to protest the suppression of Solidarity. In response, Mikhail Suslov, the Kremlin’s top ideologist, advised Soviet leaders not to intervene if Poland fell under the control of Solidarity for fear it might lead to heavy economic sanctions by the west. These potential sanctions could result in further catastrophe for the Soviet economy. That “non-intervention” of the USSR, because Reagan’s threats had bled them dry, was the beginning of the slippery slope leading to the easing of the communist oppression, and the fall the Soviet Union.
It is said that history is written by the victors, and in the past this may have been true. But in the case of Cold War history, it has been rewritten by the progressives who want to indoctrinate our children to their inaccurate version of facts many of us saw with our own eyes.

To the author- you wrote an excellent article.
As a parent, I would advise it is your parental duty, and as a Citizen, it is your civic responsibility to go to the school, go to the local board who is in charge of this book, and DEMAND to know the reasons behind it. Demand an explanation. It would be interesting for you to do a follow up article, relating to the response you get, and how well your inquiries are received.
On a personal note, I know what you say is so, I have seen the same things with my grandchildren. Schools are indoctrinating children.
yup. the USSR ran up hard against that ol' 'guns or butter' thing. we could make both, but they couldn't. and yeah, schools are trying very, very hard to avoid teaching that to our youth…
Shameful how textbooks equivocate about something as awful and important as the Soviet Union and as brilliant and hopeful as its downfall!
Does the textbook actually state Reagan took office in 1991, or was that a typeo?
You make an excellent point, yet one that most people miss.
That, was then.
This, is now.
We no longer are capable of producing "guns or butter".
Our manufacturing capability is gone, never to return. China has replaced US as the Number One manufacturing country in the world. History has proven, that when a country relies on third parties, or outsourcing for goods and services, they are vulnerable.
We, are vulnerable.
We now import close to 70% of our oil, from foreign countries who are hostile to US. As far as manufacturing anything, if pushed hard, we might be able to produce some rancid butter, or some substandard meat for the local burger joints, but our days as a world super power see the sun sitting on them.
What is the number one reason that Hitler lost WW II?
He ran out of gas.
Germany had a vast military industrial manufacturing base, but they had no liquid hydrocarbon production. That is the untold story of why they invaded Russia so hard.
I dare say at some time in the not too distant future they will no doubt be rehabilitating Adolf and his merry men, well he didn't drink alcohol, was a vegan and liked dogs after all
Reason #12, 644 to scrap the Dept of Education…
"… fiercely anti-Communist U.S. president, Ronald Reagan took office in 1991. He continued to move away from detente. He increased defense spending, putting both economic and military pressure on the Soviets."
I hope that was a typo. Reagan took office in January 1981, not 1991. If that really is in the book and nobody caught it, then it's not much of a history book. Well, what can you expect. In today's politically correct world, the United States is always the aggressor and the rest of the world is always the victim. I'm sure that the history book also doesn't mention that the biggest contributor to NATO was the United States, which was the only real military power stopping the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact (people tend to forget about them) from taking over all of Europe. Maybe we should have left that job to the French. I'm sure they would have done it better. Lord, how I hate this new politically correct world we live in.
History is written by the victors, as true today as any other time in history. It was the conservative sense of truth telling and the willingness to turn that writting over to the "experts" of academia that brought us here. We lost a war we didn't know we were fighting. The war for the minds of our citizens. It has been said before and with good conviction "Never Again" Elitists must not have the reigns of power and the "Control"of Knowledge is Power
Surprise, surprise that we should see revisionist history hard at work "re-educating" the youngins. Texas conservatives just went through a gauntlet over the content of these textbooks, attempting to win back some semblance of historical sanity. Looks like they didn't make up much ground. Welcome to the alternative reality of the left. If you can, homeschool your kids. If not, personally inspect the content of textbooks and get actively involved with what they're learning in the classroom.
Just think about what lies ahead if we don't get involved in our children's educations now – the textbooks of the future will say 9-11 and the Gulf oil spill was Bush's fault, Obama made the oceans lower and freed the Mexican immigrant "slaves," and Islam saved the West from the "disaster" of Judeo-Christian "whitey" culture. Of course, it will be available in Spanish, Arabic and Chinese versions.
This is the result of electing people to school boards without any real scrutiny. Many have a background in education ie brainwashed to progressivism and have infiltrated the boards.
If you care about this get you and your ideological fellows on the boards. Liberals are over represented there.
From the looks of things the Commies/Marxists/Progs have never stopped fighting the Cold War.
Their overt indoctrination and subversion continues to this day..
We have alot of work to do..
I really wish Breitbart would look into recent happenings in Wake County, North Carolina, viz The Wake County School Board. The revolution is well-underway (including scrapping busing).
Africa was a major turning point of the war Russia sealed the fate of Hitler
With many kids it's only a matter of showing them a few times how different the same events are presented in textbooks from different periods or regions. They quickly pick up that almost everything they are told has built in biases and learn to investigate for themselves. I really believe that the reason courses such as logic and critical thinking are not taught in early grades is that educators don't want to face students who are really prepared to examine the material.
Ya' gotta wonder how this so called "history book" treats Jimmy Traitor…?
Great article! It really points out the fact that we can not out source the teaching of our children. Parents must be involved to a greater extent if we are to turn back the slow moving neap tide of progressivism.
Great article, You obviously need another school for your child … LOL.
Parents are the only real way to teach your child the truth. Especially when it comes to history. Remember what Michelle said about re-writing history. No one even asked her why, did they.
And hence the reason women were sent to work — So government could be alone with your child.
And only boys will be allowed to read them.
Now we know why women were sent to work, so government could be alone with your child.
hmmm, not so fast …
The Germans used coal to liquids fuel technology in WWII, almost exclusively, they were loaded with coal and very little oil. We as a nation are also loaded with coal. In Jan 2010, UT did a study for Canada about coal to liquids technology, they concluded that coal could be turned into gasoline and diesel at about $30 a barrel oil equivalent. The Fisher-Tropsch technology, refining liquid fuel from coal, is 1920s technology. China is building refineries right now to do exactly that. Our Crow Indians on their reservation have also started a similar refinery project.
I contend Germany was bombed into submission.
The only reason we buy oil from foreign countries is LIBERALS FORCE US TO.
The USA is still the number one manufacturer in the world. We still have the talent, just decided not to make Walmart glassware anymore.
Adding one more reason to the "This is Why We Homeshool" list. That list grows faster than our grocery list (and that's saying something for a family of 7!)
My son learned a semester's worth about Ronald Wilson Reagan in about 20 minutes within the Capitol Rotunda.
Statues of all sorts of important people abound – including one of Ronaldus Maximus. Trying to get a picture of the boy next to *that particular* statue was difficult – it seems scads of people who, from what I could tell were Eastern European, had a deep fascination with that work of art. Copious smiles and pictures – taking turns to ensure everybody got to pose with Ronnie. I've never been so content to wait patiently – I only wish I could have understood what they were saying to each other.
The Boy™ asked me why they were so excited about that statue above all others – and so the conversation began and continues to this day.
No textbook could have provided that lesson (not just about RWR, but about the value of freedom, in general) or made that sort of impact. Yes – some things are up to us, as parents.
Don't know anything about Wake Co. School Board. Must have been heavily covered by msm as usual! Wait, Is that where the Mayor? fired the entire teaching and administration staff?
If you are concerned about your children…
Congress is moving closer to passing HR4530, the most radical anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-family bill seen in decades. HR4530 is disguised as a "School Non-Discrimination Bill." Who could possibly be against "non-discrimination," right?
The main drive behind this bill is to FORCE SCHOOLS TO TEACH children about all forms of PERVERTED SEXUAL BEHAVIOR (check the link). LGBT, NAMBLA and GLSEN activists are determined to push their own disgusting deviant morals into public schools.
LGBT = Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender
NAMBLA = North American Man Boy Love Association
GLSEN = Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network

Oh blah blah blah we are no longer a world power, give me a break, you're sounding like a liberal.
First off, MOST of our crude oil imports are from Canada and Mexico. Are they hostilie to the US? While we may not like Saudi Arabia's human rights records, and some terrorists are from that country, is that country hostile to us? We could replace what we get from SA, for arguments sake, with a build out of nuclear power, but that is another story.
We would have no problem being more self sustaining developing our own oil from shale or other reserves. Want to pay $10 a gallon, or what, maybe $7 or $5) or would you rather be paying $3 and including Saudi Arabia in the mix? The consumers have spoken on that because they cry every time gas goes up a nickel and don't say anything when it drops a buck.
con't
I have to laugh that you think our agri-base can't produce anything. And as far as manufacturing, the US STILL has a huge manufacturing base. Would I like to see more done here, sure. What we have given up most of is the production of finished goods over to China and other countries. I have no problem with bring shoe production back over here, but the question is, will all the dopey WalMart shoppers want to pay double for their kids' shoes? The lazy consumer class in this country is just as much to blame for Chinese product domination in this country than anything else. People here still think bicycles should cost $60 like they did in 1969.
Hitler's loss can be attributed to many things besides running out of gas. His troops were woefully unprepared for Russian winters. He was doing the classic "fighting a war on two fronts". He had overextended his reach. His troops were demoralized and dwindling. We had bombed out his factories and his transportation systems. AND we out-produced him.
No matter, I just found out that my son's history class taught "plate tectonics" as an absolute fact and not as a theory. Hey, similar dead fish found in South America and Africa, so we must have all been one continent, right?
While one might argue the possibility (why not argue the possibility that none of us our really alive, we just have the perception of being alive) of this theory, my son walked out of that class believin the world was one continent a few thousand years ago.
And we wonder why a Congressman believes an island can tip over.
Great article, and right on the money!!! As a Historian I see this revisionist history all the time, and when I try to point out the errors, I am looked at with shock. The professors seem to really believe their version of events, even though one can provide source documents, reports, and a logical argument. I have put my academic career in peril by trying to get the real story out, and have no regrets. It does my heart good to see that a parent, and hopefully more people, try to communicate the truth of our historical heritage to the next generation. The kids are being taught, or rather indoctrinated, that our country was a progressive/socialist nation from the start (the people just had to work to get rid of the racist constitutional restrictions first). Sad, but true.

MiPain, I have to fight despair over the extent to which socialist ideology has been indoctrinated into our culture through the education system. Christians left the education system when they took prayer out of the schools and there was no one left to hold back the tide of evil. Now, it has permeated our legal system, our public offices, our churches, our homes and our lives. We must take back our nation but, I fear this apathy that prevents us from action now. We must find people to vote for who are able to sustain the evil that will be directed at them when they get the courage to stand up and lead. Even if we elect conservatives, they will be swamped by filth the moment they are raised to power. And, how many of us are actually praying for them? Have you ever considered that the big O has Muslim extremists, sexual perverts, power mongers and thieves praying for him every day? If you don't think evil spirits pray, what do you think God meant when he gave us the picture of Satan petitioning him to surrender Job for testing?
I challenge you to go into your local Wal-mart and find one item made in America.
You do make some valid points however.
Take your last sentence for instance: "AND we out-produced him."
That can't happen now.
The underground marxists of the 20th century have resurfaced, and now they are in control of 3 facets of our culture. Media, Academia, and now government.
I searched on google to find something — I didn't find anything. What are you talking about that happened in Wake County, North Carolina?

It would be nice if that were the only reason they didn't teach logic. The real reason is they have rejected deductive logic and replaced it with inductive logic. The problem with that is inductive logic is harder to prove and therefore more susceptible to being led by the feelings of the person using it. It "feels" good to call it love when a man defiles another man by lying with him as with a woman. It "feels" good to call evil good and good evil, because then you can avoid confronting the evil that is before you. Surprisingly, they often have no trouble going into an inflamed tirade against righteousness, it is really only evil that receives their gentle, calm, assuring acceptance.
So painfully true.
What a beautiful story! Thank you.

Apparently, there are far greater problems with this textbook that is in widespread use. I quote:
"In addition, the textbook’s preferential treatment of Islam is achieved not merely through simple letter-writing activities to Muhammad, splendid pictorial displays of Islamic things, and unflattering presentations of Christian things. That special status also is achieved by surrounding contextual accounts of Western and non-Western history leading up to and following the birth of Muhammad and centuries of invasion by Islamic armies throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Moreover, in the process of privileging Islam, a few other “societies” and what writers of the textbook call repeatedly “ethical systems” also are privileged because they, too, were allegedly “tolerant” toward people with whom they, as the book’s subtitle suggests, “interacted.” To provide tenth-graders in Sarasota County with moral instruction about “peace” and “tolerance,” the writers of the book incriminate most major Western things (e.g., European feudalism, Christian conquest, British and French imperialism, European slavery) while omitting, minimizing, or distorting similar unpalatable truths about non-Western things (e.g., Asian feudalism, Islamic conquest, Non-Western imperialism, African and Islamic slave trading). Bat Ye’or (2004) refers to this practice in contemporary accounts of Islamic history as “historical negationism.”

Ahhh, talk about historical revisionism. Sounds like they said something along the lines of 'the USSR collapsed on its own and that Reagan, Thatcher, and Pope John Paul the Great were just being big bourgeoisie meanies.' They probably have a sidebox describing how cool and totally-not-murderous Che was.
Though I do have to be honest with you, in my twelve years of grade school I didn't learn as much about history as I did in the college library (I'm finding that it has a wonderful selection), where most of their books are left untouched by revisionary history as described here.
I also recommend John O'Sullivan's book The President, The Pope, and The Prime Minister for a great account on conservative victory that ended the Cold War. And if you look at Gorbachev's writings, he developed admiration for Reagan and his crusade. I actually think that he took the news Reagan's death the hardest.
CL, the US is the world's leading producer of manufactured goods.
We are the word's leading exporter of manufactured goods.
Don't be bamboozled because Wal-Mart stocks low-grade shit that even third-worlders can make. Remember 20 or so years ago how the Japanese were going to own the world? Looked at Japan's economy lately? Even the "Japanese" cars on our roads are for the most part Made in USA.
China is riding an absolutely gigantic bubble, and when its internal pressures burst it it's gonna be real ugly.
Excellent article. The fact is: if you want your kids to get a good education in history, you will have to teach them yourself.
Hell, some schools even use Zinn's nauseatingly commie "People's (pseudo)History of the United States" as a class text.
This is the book which, just for a start, devotes four pages to My Lai but never even mentions D-Day.
My friend,
You and I do not usually exchange posts; perhaps it a mutual respect, because I have always respected what you write here.
I am not bamboozled by Walmart. I do not go into Walmart, but I know they have junk.
With all due respect, your first sentence is incorrect. Perhaps you missed it on the business news this week, that China had just moved into the worlds number one spot regarding manufacturing. It was on several different networks. That is what I base cmy opinion on.

Partly. The left was running into problems with the women supporters not being able to find or afford baby sitters. The left got free day care passed so they could put women to work. Of course, they would also put a comrade in charge of the children to indoctrinate them.
I would like to congratulate the soviet union on winning the cold war… and fooling us into thinking that we won.
Think about it. Some of the bad things the soviet union did:
Rewrite textbooks
Criminalize religion
Nationalizing industries
In other words…. stuff we do all the time now.

In this case, history has indeed been written by the victors. Not the victors of the Cold War, but the victors of the culture war- liberals.
If you want to run a quick bias test on your kid's history textbook, check out how it portrays Ronald Reagan. Anything that doesn't mention his role in ending the cold war or strengthening the economy was written by a leftist hack.

That's wonderful to know. With every one of these public education discoveries, it becomes more apparent to me that parents must take a very active role in their children's education.
I visited the Ronald Reagan Library with my in-laws when they last came out here to visit my wife and me in California. If you're ever able to bring The Boy here, I unreservedly recommend a visit. While I remember living under the spectre of nuclear war and watching the Berlin Wall fall on television, there were still many things about President Reagan that I never learned thanks to the ignorance of youth and his caricaturization by his foes in the media. While in the gift shop, I watched part of a speech Reagan made in the 60s, and it moved me. It could have been broadcast in California today and still retain its relevance.
How dare these people not include right-wing propoganda!

Big Education, on the march.
As an armchair historian (well, okay, I'm an aspiring historical fiction writer), I thank you for your work!
I remember that I was never really interested in the "endless lists of dates and documents" that history seemed to be composed of throughout my school years. When I began attending community college, I developed a great interest in history, but unfortunately my teacher was of the "Western Civilization Is Responsible For The World's Evils" school of philosophy. I distinctly remember going back to visit my high school history teacher, a Vietnam veteran, and regaling him with my excited discoveries. "I never knew America did so many terrible things!" I said breathlessly. He was glad to see I was taking an interest in history, but I'll never forget his grimace of discomfort and disappointment at hearing me spout such nonsense.
Fortunately I've since become familiar with the sort of distortions that my community college teacher taught and realized that leftist biases have grown deep roots in the education arena.
I'm thankful there are folks like yourself out there who are willing to risk what you have to preserve the truth in the face of propagandizing and re-education.
RIIIGGHT. Because what the effing SOVIETS THEMSELVES attributed their downfall to is propaganda.
"The communists thought we were holding a royal flush, but all we really had was a pair of threes; being chess players, instead of poker players, they resigned."
Precisely!
Planet of the Apes can't be that far off.
No sarcasm or trolling. There is absolutely no definitive proof that at one time all continents were "one continent". Anything is possible, but no proof. But it is pretty laughable that you actually believe that continents could keep their exact shape, and "move" to the other side of the earth, while keeping their same altitude, because plates shift on the ocean floor.
It is still called a theory, and should be taught as a theory, just as the theory of evolution and the theory of creation.
That's not a challenge, I agree with you, and that is my point!
Uh, yeah. It should be taught as a "theory", and what a theory is should also be taught.
No, the continents are not thought to have kept their exact shapes. The maps showing present exact shapes are done that way so we can see which continent was supposed to be where.
I misworded part of my response above. Mineral deposits and geologically identifiable layers are found on seperate continents indicating they were once connected, and shale deposits are found on the top of upthrusts where shale could not possibly form.
The "theory of creation" is no theory in the scientific sense. It is an authoritative claim by people who follow a particular faith. There is no science to it. If there was, people would be arguing it and refining it. There aren't. The basic claim has existed, pretty much unchanged, since long before the scientific method was invented.
You forgot to add …..for now.

No wonder kids now adays think Castro and Che are cool and Regan was evil. This is progressive white washing at it's simplest. When we killed communism and liberty prevailed.
You need to get your kid out of there. You also need to make a fuss at the school board meeting. You can confront the teacher and the principal, but it's likely that neither will have any say-so in choosing the textbook.
Sadly, your choices are:
1. Homeschool
2. Private school or
3. Write off your kid's education totally.

I am with ACT! For America – Raleigh chapter and was stunned to find this book, World History: Patterns of Interaction, being used here in North Carolina. It is also being used in most, if not all 67-school districts in Florida and ACT! for America is fighting it. We must do the same here in North Carolina and other states.
I suggest you read the work by Terri K. Wonder, Ph.D., Technical Supremacy in World History: Patterns of Interaction, A Case Study in Islamic Apologetics in American Public Education, April 30, 2010; it can be found at: http://tool.donation-net.net/Images/Email/1097/20...
I suggest all of those that want to get this book out of your school system work with ACT! for America to do so. Go to ACT! for America’s Website and then look for “local chapters” link to an ACT! chapter near you or start a chapter.
While you are at the ACT! Website look at the material in their STOP SHARIAH NOW project material. There are over 400-banks donating to terrorist organizations through Shariah law. The Raleigh and North Carolina chapters will be researching this and ask that the book be removed from usage.
Terri’s work started with a basic question, “Does the textbook privilege Islam and Islamic things?” You might want to research Lemon v. Kurtzman to get a better understating of the latest rulings.

•Education must not have the primary effect of either advancing or inhabiting a religion
•Education must not result in excessive government entanglement with respect to religion
So how can you help to turn back the anti-Western civilization and creeping Sharia contained in these textbooks?
Here are five steps to make a real difference in YOUR local school district:
Find out if your local school district is using World History: Patterns of Interaction. If so, go to Step 2.
File a formal complaint with the School District Superintendent (not at the school level) using the study done by Dr. Terri K. Wonder as the basis of your complaint and request this textbook be removed from the District's approved list of instructional materials. Attach the study by Dr. Wonder to the complaint as the evidence for removal of the textbook.
When the Superintendent appoints a Review Committee to address your complaint, be there to listen to the discussion, take notes, and make sure the process is fair and panel is qualified and unbiased.
If the Review Committee recommends to the Superintendent to remove the textbook and the Superintendent accepts that recommendation – Declare Victory. However, most likely they will not. If the Superintendent totally denies your complain, go to Step 5.
Submit a formal appeal to the denial of your complaint directly to the local elected School Board members. For a copy of Dr. Rich Swier’s appeal that he filed
Let us roll up our sleeves and stop Shariah law before it does exactly what the Muslim Brotherhood has slated to do. Start by conducting a simple Googe search on the named of the book along with the name of your state and school disrict.

….and I would have, but I've lost a lot of faith in this country over the past 2 yrs. From my personal perspective, I can't figure out why Obama's approval is even 45% ??? That makes me unsure about November. However, if conservatives take over the Senate and House, or just come close, then it will be a start for rebuilding my confidence in this country. November is so much more than any run of the mill election. It will represent where we truly stand as a nation.

Cowboy, you're right. We would have to import steel from our enemies to build anything. Military boots made in "China" ? Uniforms used to be 100% worsted wool, now blended with polyester from "China". The stupid unmilitary "Berets" that replaced the Army Service and Garrison caps now made in "China" ?
As for manufacturing in the US the governments (Local, State & Federal) and Unions have ensured it is no longer feasable or profitable to do business in the US. Does anyone really believe this can be reversed ? I don't think so.
Strange aligning of the stars…….
This is actually frightening. This is not sprucing things up to promote national identity like Washington's Cherry Tree , this is removing facts to promote ideology and hide truth. The public school system has run it's course and the power of the teacher' s unions need to be stopped. These schools should not have access to tax money or the minds of children.
