Yes indeed. But to be clear, the alphabet soup of IT stumps me on a daily basis too. :)

Thanks for the clarification. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've heard what the acronym stood for.

Are you in the networking business too?

Yes a DoS can cause that. So can insufficient hardware.

DoS attacks are a lot harder to pull off these days. Any reputable web provider has some sort of systematic attack detection running that identifies them and blocks them. I used to run into that all the time at IBM.

At IBM we used what's called PAT - port address translation - so it appeared all traffic from IBM US was coming from about 6 or so IP addresses. AIM used to block us all the time because they thought we were a DoS.

So did some ISP down in NYC, which was a real pain because IBM had contracted with them to provide service anniversary gifts to employees. No one from IBM could get to the web site to choose gifts.

There are ways around this, though they are extremely complicated and leave lots of computer finger prints behind for forensics.

I originally thought it might be a low level DoS, not enough traffic to trigger threshold alerts, alerts, but enough to bog down the systems, and then the troll tsunami to finish them off. But I suggested support check to see if that was happening.

They said everything was fine but they were dealing with known ID application issues, so I'm taking them at their word.

Having come from the left I know just how juvenile they are, and their definition of free speech is "if you don't agree with me, shut the hell up." So I assumed a worst case scenario.

How do you conclude that the NAACP was "quite obviously enjoyed Shirley Sherrod’s tale of a white farmer getting screwed because he was white." ? I've watch the video several times now. At 0:53 after Sherrod says "While he was trying to show how superior he was to me, I was trying to decide how much help I was going to give him." There is a little laughter. But laughter at what? Laughter at the irony that he was "trying to show how superior he was" while she was trying to decide how much help to give him. But in no way can you conclude that they were supporting her discrimination back in 1984 because at 1:10 when she says "So I didn't give him the full force of what I could do." This statement is met by complete silence. No support from the audience, and isn't this when you would expect it, if they were 'racist.' Again biggovernment is distorting the facts to divide the people.

Macaca (genus), the macaque, an Old World monkey species
<a&gt <a href="http://;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaca_(genus)" target="_blank">;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaca_(genus)

Macaca (slur), racial slur
<a&gt <a href="http://;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaca_(slur)" target="_blank">;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaca_(slur)

An elected Republican utter the word "Macaca":
<a&gt <a href="http://;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r90z0PMnKwI" target="_blank">;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r90z0PMnKwI

This is what's beautiful about "the internet". Instead of always waiting for Mr. Breitbart to tell you what something means, you could use a search engine, found on "the internet" to look It up.

Here's a search engine, try it sometime;
<A&gt <a href="http://;http://www.google.com/" target="_blank">;http://www.google.com/
