There’s been yet another troubling turn in the story of ABC News caving to left-wing Blacklisters since Andrew Breitbart published this article last night laying out the facts with respect to how the network offered him a gracious invitation to participate in tomorrow’s “online and network broadcast election night coverage” and then revoked at least part of that invitation after the left ginned up a coordinated Juan Williams-like astro-turf attack to silence him.
Via Yahoo!, this morning ABC News contradicted themselves further with this jaw-dropping accusation claiming that this is all Breitbart’s fault for exaggerating his role:
“Mr. Breitbart exaggerated the role he would play on his blog,” ABC News spokesman Jeffrey Schneider told The Upshot on Monday. “We immediately made it clear that was never the role he was supposed to play. He had been invited to be part of our digital town hall, and that is still the role.”
Before we look at what “Mr. Breitbart” posted on “his blog,” let’s look at what ABC News told him. This is a direct quote from an an email to Breitbart from an ABC News producer…
This program will broadcast on the ABC Television Network.
And then there’s this from a statement by David Ford of ABC News…
He [Breitbart] will be one of many voices on our air[.]
How exactly does Big Journalism’s October 29th announcement qualify as an exaggeration when compared to what ABC News has said both privately via email and publicly via that statement?:
Bigs founder and head of the Breitbart empire Andrew Breitbart will be bringing analysis live from Arizona.
It doesn’t. There is no exaggeration. What would his role be if not real-time analysis? Reading the news? Doing interviews? And here’s the kicker, if ABC News was unhappy with the announcement why not ask for a clarification prior to launching these kinds of statements?
Furthermore, the same Jeffrey Schneider who at the top of that Yahoo! article accuses Breitbart of exaggerating is presumably the same Jeffrey Schneider at the bottom of the article who further contradicts himself by saying, in effect, that the idea always was to broadcast on ABC News “anything thoughtful or interesting” from the townhall Breitbart’s participating in:
Now, there’s technically a scenario in which Breitbart appears in some form on the network’s television broadcast but still isn’t called on as a political analyst for ABC’s election night coverage.
Here’s how: Schneider explained that portions of the digital town hall will be included in the ABC network broadcast. So, he said, “it’s entirely possible that anybody who says anything thoughtful or interesting during the streaming portion of it can be excerpted on the broadcast.”
So, I guess… Cue the Left-Wing Indignation Blacklisting Machine, Breitbart’s ideas might still air on ABC News!
But as Breitbart himself said in his article last night, this isn’t about him.
During the 1950s, Blacklisters like the George Soros-funded Media Matters, Keith Olbermann, the Huffington Post, Daily Kos, and Talking Points Memo would’ve screamed Commie! to silence, marginalize and Alinsky those they disagree with. Today, the new Commie is Intolerance, Racist, and any and all variations of the same. But the insidious goal of this tactic hasn’t changed one bit — to silence, toxify and effectively blacklist political opponents by falsely accusing them of the worst sins of the day.
The fact that these accusations against Breitbart are completely unfounded is proven by ABC News. If any of these left-wing smears were true, would ABC have invited Breitbart to be a part of their “online and network broadcast election night coverage” in the first place?
Of course not. So why then is ABC News trying to embarrass Andrew with claims that he exaggerated his role tomorrow night and surrounding those false claims with a flurry of conflicting statements to appease the Left?
We all know why.
Breitbart is not the first to face this new breed of Blacklisters and anyone to the right of Keith Olbermann should take note that he certainly won’t be the last. We have seen the Left’s Blacklisters unsuccessfully attempt to blacklist Eric Erickson off of CNN and we have seen these same Blacklisters successfully remove Juan Williams from the very same NPR willing to tolerate Nina — “Gee, I hope Jesse Helms or his grandkids gets AIDS” — Totenberg.
ABC News and NPR now have hold of a tiger by the tail; because once you give in to the Blacklisters, once they taste the blood of victory, they are only emboldened — and like all predators, they prey first on the weak.
You would think that of all people George Stephanopoulos would understand just how wicked this all is after feeling the full force of Leftist rage and JournoLista piling on after he dared ask then-candidate Obama a couple of tough questions during a 2008 primary debate.
George learned a lesson all right. Unfortunately, it looks as though it was the wrong one.

Without question, I would believe Andrew Breitbart over anyone, and everyone at ABC.

Leave them alone. You are right in that they prey on the weak; but after a time, there is no more prey, and they will turn inward, and eat their own. That has now begun.
Brahahahha who even watches ABC for news? I mean they have that hack George Stephanopoulos as an "unbiased" news person. My God he was part of that whole Carville Begalla war room of people that just destroyed anyone that even farted in the general direction of Clinton. The man is despicable. Well and short LOL. So no big deal. The alphabet soup networks news is just going down the sewer and lost all credibility after the butt kissing they did for Otraitor and still do.

My guess is the BIGs will post Dana and AB segments. So instead of tuning in to ABC, I can use that TV to play Lennon's "Imagine" video (on mute of course) while watching Ms. Kelly.

If they'd have reported on all of his socialist, communist and black liberation ties, there's no WAY another Illinois electorate would have sent him ANYWHERE NEAR Washington, D.C.

The business suicide of ABC News continues. I stopped watching their programs about the time they changed George Stephanopoulos from analyst to "reporter." There was briefly a possibility I would watch ABC Tuesday night. Guess not.

This is a "teaching moment".
If you are not a lefty/liberal and you are asked to appear on CBSMSNBCABCCNNNPRPBS, get everything in writing, in at least an email, before agreeing to anything. You cannot make a verbal agreement with these people with the understanding that it will be followed up later in writing.
They cannot be trusted. Assume they are lying or will do a 180 until it is in writing. That way you will not be surprised when they do not follow through and try to lie about it.
ABC needs someone like Breitbart to not only have any election creds, but some needed ratings as well.
Except the "other" side is not being irrational. The "other" side sees a massive problem and and the irrational left has done nothing but make it worse. Regardless of party every opportunity to do something to address government spending has been avoided. This is nothing new it has been going on for years, many many years in fact. The unwillingness of either party to do anything but line their own pockets at my expense does not make me irrational for standing up and saying NO MORE! Furthermore claiming the "other" side is "scared" is an ignorant cop-out and no different than claiming the "other" side is nothing but ignorant red-necks.
And, if the lefties are so distraught about negative campaigning, then they should not engage in it.
Clearly there's no reason to be watching ABC on election night (or at any other time, for that matter).

Why watch? Only two reasons I can think of.
1. For the schadenfreude entertainment value.
2. To see how they will try to spin it and learn what the Dem talking points for the next month will be.
That should require only about 15-30 minutes of total viewing time during the course of the evening.
AB should seriously wear a tee shirt tomorrow that says "Why am I here?"

If you ask me the reason the left can't figure it out is because they don't know their opponent. They're looking at tea parties and seeing republicans. Which means logically they go for all the standard attacks and polling to combat who they think their opponent is.
But they're wrong this time. The tea party movement is a lot bigger than the GOP, and we're gunning for them too.
This movement is against the ruling elites in both parties. Enough of them getting rich at our expense. They all go starting tomorrow.
That's how we fix this mess. We stop settling for what we perceive to be the lesser of two evils.

Been watching this since yesterday. The blogs just keep throwing clumps of shit to see what will stick. First, it was "Breitbart will only be in the audience when he thought he was actually going to be an anchor. Bitchslap. Ha Ha!" Then it was "Well, he'll be on a panel of some sort, but it won't be as an official ABC analyst" Then it was " Well, he'll only be on-line, he won't be on TV" Like they are going to fly him to Arizona to only be on-line. Then it's "Breitbart is accusing ABC of lying." and they all "forgot" to link to the letter to Andrew from ABC that clearly says he will be on a panel, doing analysis, and it will be shown on the news channel.
The part I find interesting is that all these mini-meme's come out magically at the same time on 50 lefty blog channels, and all the blog-meisters act like these were all their own original thoughts on the matter. This coordination is becoming so transparent it's just ridiculous.

Evening all. This whole thing is actually pretty straight forward. ABC figured that the story of the evening will be the Tea-Party/Conservatives making huge gains and perhaps changing the direction of the GOP back toward conservative values. Adding 2 plus 2 they correctly thought that they could grab viewing share from the other networks (including Fox) by having and high-lighting the presence of the very well known Andrew Breibart and they advertised his appearance. Then his dark holiness Soros found out and directed his minions to go after ABC (he no doubt talked to his tiny servant Stephanopous personally to ensure that this tiny attempt at real journalism (and making a profit) was stopped.
If you're really pissed about this don't send your notes to ABC, send them to The Disney Company. While Mickey, Donald and the rest may be kind of lefties I suspect they are more concerned with dollars. If they think that the visits to Disneyland or viewers of the next flic will go down thye may actually do something about it.
I was thinking in terms of tactical talking points, not about overall philosophy and strategy.
This election will be a repudiation of the Dem/lib/left position on the size and role of government in the economic sphere. Their position has been that more and bigger government — more government control and regulation, more government centralized planning, higher taxes, and more government spending — is the "solution" to our economic problems. The electorate is about to disagree, forcefully.
Will the Dem's understand this or not? That's what I will be looking for when I listen to what the MSM talking heads say as they parrot the Dem talking points in response to the electorate's verdict.

Does anyone under 80 watch the networks for news anymore? I haven't watched the networks for about 10 years, and that started before I realized they were completely biased hacks. The left is coming unhinged because they cannot control the news anymore. It's beautiful to behold- unlike Stephanopolous' smug face.

I could not agree more. All of these people who say he ran as a centrist are clueless. It was all there to see, yet most did not want to see the truth. NOW everyone is up in arms about his policies and amateurism. What did they expect?

What I originally said was that her excuse was at least novel and possibly believable. Remember when Jerry Brown's campaign got caught calling his opponent a b*tch? His excuse was they couldn't figure out exactly who it was. Right. I'm buying that. When I've been out at parties, or at bars, when one guy accuses another guy of being a little man hiding behind something, that means one thing, those standing near by should grab their drinks and back away, because there's a fight coming. My brother is a life long democrat party guy. He was even a party official for a few years.
This year he was out collecting signatures to get a tea party candidate on the ballot.

There are a lot of people out there who don't get cable or can't afford it. My 80+ mom got cable last year during the converter box debacle so she'd have one television with a reliably clear signal. Still, she got the basic of the basic, so all she has to choose from is network coverage. She does, however, have a good radio in her bedroom, so she'll probably go up to bed early and listen to Talk Radio for the results.
Trust me, no they don't. I used to be on the left. I know how they think. I can read them like the back of my hand.
They understand the two party system, then understand the ruling elites. They don't understand the tea party which is why they're lashing out.
And I'm pretty sure the GOP is just as clueless about them, though I don't have the experience on the inside of the right to know for sure. Just guessing by what I can see.

For the last several years I've stopped mocking the GOP and started listening to what they have to say. And they talk a pretty good game, but never follow through.
