Helen Thomas, liberal icon and veteran White House correspondent for UPI and Hearst, owned up to her hatred of Jews this week when she declared that Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine!” and go back to Germany. Her remarks are only the latest and worst in her long history of Israel-bashing. They are also an embarrassment to the establishment Democrats who have lately been using Thomas to raise campaign cash.
Only last month, Thomas headlined Rep. Jan Schakowsky’s big campaign fundraiser, the “9th Annual Ultimate Women’s Power Lunch” in Chicago. The list of guests included all of the major Democratic candidates for federal office, including Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias and 10th district contender Dan Seals. Senator Dick Durbin was also there, as were representatives of J Street, the new lobby for left-wing policies on Israel.
Rep. Schakowsky and her guests were well aware of Thomas’s record of anti-Israel rhetoric, and were invited to distance themselves from her views. None did. Instead, Rep. Schakowsky declared proudly of Thomas: “She’s so awesome!”
Thomas’s comments are also problematic for Giannoulias, whose family foundation funds radical anti-Israel groups such as Electronic Intifada, which it honored at a benefit last year.
In the days ahead, the media establishment will likely condemn Thomas’s explicit antisemitism, and distance itself from her views (with a few protestations, no doubt, about the supposed differences between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism). Yet for Democrats in Illinois and beyond, who have placed Thomas on a pedestal, Thomas is a problem that will not go away. Antisemitism is ascendant on the left. Voters are noticing.

They should parade Helen across the US, allowing her to campaign and fundraise for each and every dem/progressive/RiNO candidate. Oh right, they have been.
Realize who we are dealing with, those who allow these in their midst and these to represent their causes, demonstrating the tolerance they wish to impose upon everyone else.

Honestly, this is pretty routine stuff if you are say, the first generation American born offspring of Lebanese immigrant parents who changed their name to Thomas. (Look it up.) Does that explain a lot?
What is so interesting is that Jews have traditionally voted Democratic and yet you would be hard pressed to see what the Democratic Party has ever done for the Jews. Jews are just another voting block the Democrats have taken for granted, just like the African Americans. Remember that when it comes to defending Israel, the only American president that was willing to risk everything was, ironically, Richard Nixon during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. At the start of that war, it almost looked like Israel was going to be overrun by the surrounding Arab nations. Nixon was willing to use America's nuclear weapons to protect Israel, if it came to that. Nixon made it "perfectly clear" to both the Russians and the Arabs that Israel would not be destroyed and he backed up his words with actions. Tell me, do you think Obama and his current set of far-left toadies in the State Department would do that today? Remember, these are the same people who find it difficult to support Israel over a blockade of Gaza. And don't think the Iranians, Hamas, or Hezbollah are not paying attention to this. So I ask Jewish voters out there, what has Obama done for you lately?

There is nothing anti-semitic about what Helen Thomas said.
When she said "they" should "go back to Germany and Poland", she was clearly talking about Jews who came from there in the past few decades, and not Jews whose immediate ancestors have been living in Palestine. What she said is right and makes sense. Jews from Germany and Poland have no more right to move to Israel/Palestine than Americans of German descent have to move to Germany, or American Catholics have to move to Italy, or Hindu American have to move to India.
Citizenship is by immediate ancestry only, or pretty much everyone would be a citizen of pretty much everywhere. It's one thing if Jews move from Europe to Israel. It's quite another if they are allowed to do so while Israel still denies the right of return to the several hundred thousand Palestinians displaced in war. There is a right of return in international law and it refers to immediate blood descendants(children), NOT people of the same religion who claim a distant ancestral bond to a place. Indirect ancestry has zero standing in international law.
One thing Israel and her supporters never seem to get is that nations belong to their citizens and not to religious groups. And self-determination applies to people in a contiguous territory, not to people belonging to a race or religion.
If Germany does not belong to the Aryan tribe and India does not belong to Hindus, then Israel does not belong to Jews. Each of them just belongs to its citizens.

Responsibility is a two way street. Why don't the Egyptians open their borders to the Palestinians and Hamas? They have blockades too. As a matter of fact there is no country that will take in the Palestinians. Why is that? Where do their bombs come from? Why do the Palestinians spend all of their resources on bombs and not food? Why, why, why? Why is it every time the Israelis are accused of some atrocity against the Palestinians, the UN investigates and the UN finds that the Palestinians have lied. And yet, there is never a retraction only more condemnation? This happens over and over? Why when a suicide bomber blows himself up at a cafe and kills or maims innocent Israeli young people, the world rejoices? Or when a Palestinian suicide bomber blows up a bus full of Israeli school children, that is justified? Why is it that the Palestinians cannot put their bombs down long enough to come to the table? As individuals, Jews are smart. As a political force, they're borderline suicidal. Jews supported the bolsheviks in Russia, many Jewish bankers financed Hitler's political efforts, and of course now Jews helped elect the most anti-Israeli president in modern history. I'd say it's partly intellectualism, partly wanting to support the underdog, and of course can't dismiss the world famous Jewish guilt complex… Norman Podhoretz has some good insights in his new book.
Younger generations vote with the party due to indoctrination in the school system. The fact that their parents vote that way just adds to the further justification. Democrats took advantage of the foundation laid to the end result of WWII. Their continued manipulation through schools, religion, media, and culture was well thought out. My grand father and father have ranted about this for years…long before Glenn Beck. He is just the first to state the obvious on tv.
If you notice though subsequent generations of Jews are starting to wake up and we are seeing more and more conservative Jews.
Couple it with the school indoctrination, not to mention the breakdown of the culture replete with the drift away from religion and the trail of breadcrumbs is not hard to follow.

We as a country spent far too much time telling them (Israel) what they could do, and what they can't, because we forgot what they have to deal with everyday, at least until 9/11…it actually goes back as far as the Beirut barracks bombing, but Americans are notorious memory lapsers…this whole thing would have been sorted out for fair a long time ago if we had just butted out…and the Med would probably be quite the fun spot to be at…if it had been allowed to be dealt with…

Explaining anti-Semitism is actually more difficult than explaining why Jews vote Marxist, or now Democrat.
First is the "internal" Christian anti-Semitism that grew out of the early church conflicts between "Christian" Christians and "Jewish" Christians. It is pretty much the same as what developed later when Christianity started separating into various sects. Look at people like Jack Chick for the kind of venomous hatred that produces.
Second, is the "external" Christian anti-Semitism picked up from Islam during the Crusades, particularly in Spain, but to a lesser degree in Israel. (Yes, the Reconquest of Spain was in fact a branch of the same Crusades.)
Third, and bizarrely minor compared to the first two, is the simple cultural conflict between a "host" group and a "refugee" group that simply will not totally assimilate. Jews will partially assimilate, but they always insisted on retaining their own faith and language. Part of this was due to internal Jewish religious issues, and part was due to the anti-Semitism noted above, but part of it was also due to a reaction against the violent reaction to the refusal to assimilate. That is, the more people oppressed Jews to get them to assimilate, the more Jews resisted assimilation. This assimilation factor was based on the general tribal drive to assimilate, which in later centuries became nationalism. It was derived from the Roman insistence on assimilation, except in England where it grew out of a simple need for dominance because nobody ever won the war for unilateral cultural dominance until very late, and in many ways still have not. In essence, there are always some who not merely do not like people who will not admit when they are beaten, but actually go into a psychotic frenzy over it.
(As an aside, this is why I support Nietzsche so much. He understood this, but he also understood that the best way to assimilate Jews was to stop trying to force them and simply accept them. He also noted that the first European nation to truly accept their Jews as full members of their nation instead of as Jews who happened to live in their nation would be the country that would "win" in Europe.)
Then of course there is Islamic hatred of Jews, which is related to the first Christian reason, except that Islam wanted to be a successor sub-sect of Judaism but was rejected, and jumped right to a total frenzy immediately that it has never really abandoned.
There are of course dozens of minor specific cases and details, but that is the general overview.

My intent was to be funny – on the ghetto/gallows humor level that used to drive Vaudeville, as well as classic comedy, such as in Blazing Saddles. There was a time when we could all laugh at such things because we all knew who we were really laughing – the moronic sheet-wearing bigots who think that is how the world really works.
