At this late date it appears CBS is not going to surrender to pro-abort pressure and renege on its agreement to run Focus on the Family’s life advocacy ad featuring Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and his mother Pam on today’s
Super Bowl telecast.
In fact, Focus on the Family is now announcing that it is running a second ad, also featuring Tebow, during the pre-game show — an ad that will run four times.
In the n-game thirty-second ad, Pam is prompted to describe her harrowing experience of suffering from a life-threatening illness while pregnant with Tim in 1987, yet rejecting her doctors’ recommendation to abort. She and husband Bob were serving as missionaries in the Philippines at the time.

But the battle against CBS has generated a battle over the battle. Has opposing the Tebow ad been public relations capital well spent?
No, but don’t take my word for it. I’ll let the opinions of abortion proponents speak. First, a January 31 editorial by the notoriously liberal New York Times:
The National Organization for Women, NARAL Pro-Choice America and other voices for protecting women’s reproductive freedom have called on CBS to yank it. Their protest is puzzling and dismaying.
A letter sent to CBS by the Women’s Media Center and other groups argues that the commercial “uses one family’s story to dictate morality to the American public, and encourages young women to disregard medical advice, putting their lives at risk” – a lame attempt to portray the ad as life-threatening. Others argue that even a mild discussion of such a divisive issue has no place in the marketing extravaganza known as the Super Bowl.
The would-be censors are on the wrong track. Instead of trying to silence an opponent, advocates for allowing women to make their own decisions about whether to have a child should be using the Super Bowl spotlight to convey what their movement is all about: protecting the right of women like Pam Tebow to make their private reproductive choices.
Also on January 31 Kate Michelman, the former president of NARAL, and Frances Kissling, the former president of Catholics for Choice, authored a candid op ed in the Washington Post, basically telling abortion proponents to put up their own ad or shut up:
For abortion rights supporters, picking on Tim Tebow and his mom is not the way to go. Instead of trying to block or criticize the Focus on the Family ad, the pro-choice movement needs its own Super Bowl strategy….
Erin Matson, the National Organization for Women’s new vice president, called the Tebow spot “hate masquerading as love.” That kind of comment may play well in the choice choir, but to others, it makes no sense, at best; at worst, it’s seen as the kind of stridency that reinforces the view that pro-choice simply means pro-abortion….
So here’s our Super Bowl strategy for the choice movement. We’d go with a 30-second spot, too….
Finally, sports columnist Sally Jenkins wrote in the Washington Post on February 2:
I’m pro-choice, and Tebow clearly is not. But based on what I’ve heard in the past week, I’ll take his side against the group-think, elitism and condescension of the “National Organization of Fewer and Fewer Women All The Time.” For one thing, Tebow seems smarter than they do.
Tebow’s 30-second ad hasn’t even run yet, but it already has provoked “The National Organization for Women Who Only Think Like Us” to reveal something important about themselves: They aren’t actually “pro-choice” so much as they are pro-abortion….
Pam Tebow and her son feel good enough about that choice to want to tell people about it. Only, NOW says they shouldn’t be allowed to. Apparently NOW feels this commercial is an inappropriate message for America to see for 30 seconds, but women in bikinis selling beer is the right one. I would like to meet the genius at NOW who made that decision. On second thought, no, I wouldn’t….
[S]urely everyone in both camps, pro-choice or pro-life, wishes the “need” for abortions wasn’t so great. Which is precisely why NOW is so wrong to take aim at Tebow’s ad….
You know what we really need more of? Famous guys who aren’t embarrassed to practice sexual restraint, and to say it out loud. If we had more of those, women might have fewer abortions….
His critics… say the Super Bowl is no place for an argument of this nature. “Pull the ad,” NOW President Terry O’Neill said. “Let’s focus on the game.”
Trouble is, you can’t focus on the game without focusing on the individuals who play it — and that is the genius of Tebow’s ad. The Super Bowl is not some reality-free escape zone. Tebow himself is an inescapable fact: Abortion doesn’t just involve serious issues of life, but of potential lives, Heisman trophy winners, scientists, doctors, artists, inventors, Little Leaguers — who would never come to be if their birth mothers had not wrestled with the stakes and chosen to carry those lives to term. And their stories are every bit as real and valid as the stories preferred by NOW….
Tebow’s ad, by the way, never mentions abortion; like the player himself, it’s apparently soft-spoken. It simply has the theme “Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life.” This is what NOW has labeled “extraordinarily offensive and demeaning.” But if there is any demeaning here, it’s coming from NOW, via the suggestion that these aren’t real questions, and that we as a Super Bowl audience are too stupid or too disinterested to handle them on game day.

Remarkably, I don’t have much to add to these comments by pro-aborts condemning other pro-aborts for attempting to stifle some refreshingly great free speech.
Except that if they’re losing this PR battle amongst their own, how much more are they losing it amongst mainstream Americans.

Given the left leaning nature of this 'network', i am pleasantly surprised they are holding on this…
How can "pro-choice" opposition to an ad that tells the story of one mother's choice be good for business? The fuss over the Tebow ad, preceded by the mean-spirited attacks on Sarah Palin for giving birth to a Down Syndrome baby, cause people to reconsider exactly what it is pro-choice advocates actually support. Do they support all choices equally or do they support one particular choice more than any other? Referring to the Tebow ad as "offensive" and claiming that its intent is to deprive women of their right to choose is as ludicrous as it is damaging to pro-choice advocacy.
"Tebow’s 30-second ad hasn’t even run yet, but it already has provoked “The National Organization for Women Who Only Think Like Us” to reveal something important about themselves: They aren’t actually “pro-choice” so much as they are pro-abortion…."
The hardcore NOW women folk are not "pro-choice", never have been and never will be. They have carefully selected a word to describe their movement to disguise their progressive intent on reducing population. The power of words is a tremendous tactic the extreme left has used to its advantage for years to soft sell their agenda. It has been a very useful tool, but something is happening in our country. People are no longer slumbering, they are starting to pay attention to the words and looking into the definitions that are being applied to their meaning by radical groups. If you will, doublespeak…..

Nothing would be better than watching USC pound Florida into Gator tacos.
Off the football field you have to be a complete moron to try to demonize this guy. He appears to have more Teflon than Reagan and Slick Willy put together.
Illogical? Criminally void.
Bullseye.
It falls under the "fool me once" "fool me twice" saying. America has been fooled twice by these people.
Well….
Well, you look at me once, you look at me twice,
You look at me again there's gonna be a fight
We're gonna rock this town, we're gonna rip this place apart
America is going to rip this movement apart.
Good for Sally. I will enjoy her reports much more now that I know she is a fair and honest person.
And thank you Jill for bringing Sally's comments to our attention.
I just now saw the "pre-game" ad, it was very elegant and tasteful.
I officially love you for quoting the Stray Cats.
Sally doesn't sound all that pro-Choice to me. How about all the murderers and lowlifes that are brought in to this world? And the fringe women who get pregnant under duress, single mothers, etc…. are more likely to produce a criminal so I say they should be encouraged. Tebow's situation isn't even relevant here – being born to a CHRISTIAN COUPLE – not some crackhead ghetto welfare mammy.
oh come on now, whos gonna buy a calender of the "spears" if they're wearing turtle neck sweaters and long pants?
Christians are no different from non-christians in that they struggle with all the same choices, hoping to make the right one. Christianity provides no insulation from that fact.
Yea wasn't it a bit odd when NOW had no reprimand for 'Slick Willy'?
That kinda opened my eyes a little…
It really was a pivotal moment in history for NOW. If it serves the purpose of their ideology they don't bat an eyelash at any abuse toward women. Because "the ends justify the means"…..sounds familiar!
Funny thing is, the American public are not just sitting back anymore and taking the crap they are being dished, we are engaged in wanting to know what is going on with our country. Its an eye opener if you watch the precipice crumbling towards where you are standing. Erosion when it occurs slowly is easy to ignore, but when the rains are intense and you can watch big chunks falling off the cliff face one tends not to sit back anymore. They engage in the battle and start working on erosion control. Our eyes are wide open….I hope we still have enough time to fix it all.
The airing of the ad can be another of many cultural milestones that we need to re-discover.
The Tebows' faithful choice of love instead of fear, and its resulting in a life, is apowerful teaching example of the beautiful potential in EVERY Human baby.
Every Baby is a Divine source of Love–ask Sarah and Trig Palin

I do hope you are right Dave, because this agenda has cost this nation 50 million lives since 1973. When I ponder that, I wonder what has been lost to mankind that could have been attained from these lost lives. It staggers the mind.
People born to parents with personal problems don't deserve to live?
These Margaret Sanger pregressives have exposed themselves. Their idea of the right to choose is limited to choosing as they tell their moronic robots to choose. The leftwingnuts have no free will. What they think is choice is the choice between killing a baby sooner or later. They are not allowed to even think of letting the baby be born. Their hatred is strictly Christophobic. All death cults are Christophobic, from the terrorists to the leftwingnuts.
Christianity is a religion that demands one choose life and this is anathema to the dark side of the force.
To the pregressives, the unborn child is not a human, but they cannot say when it becomes a human. They are not even allowed to call the child a child or baby – - they are programmed to call it an "it" or a fetus.
The battle is indeed a spiritual one whose dim reflection we see down here, but the sides are delineated quite clearly.
(Part I) Three times I posted a commentary about the anti-abortion add to be presented during the Super bowl. Three times the people in control of the internet site took down my comment.
My comment was not offensive or violent. Neither that it was ‘religious’. Rather it consisted of a series of scientific statements reminding everyone that the human embryo is an individual. My comment read:
"I am a Pediatrician with two Doctorates in Developmental Biology. Basic science teaches that the Embryo is an individual of the Human Species. From implantation until his/her death (natural or otherwise) that INDIVIDUAL will always be the same. Science also teaches that the Human embryo is not just a bunch of cells developing into a Human, rather the embryo is a Human individual undergoing Development.
(Part II) Dr. Micheline Matthews-Roth of Harvard Medical School stated “It is incorrect to say that biological data cannot be decisive. …It is scientifically correct to say that an individual human life begins at conception, when egg and sperm join to form the zygote, and this developing human always is a member of our species in all stages of its life."
Dr. Jerome LeJeune, University of Descartes (discoverer of the Down syndrome chromosome) stated the same: "To accept the fact that after fertilization has taken place a new human has come into being is no longer a matter of taste or opinion. The human nature of the human being from conception to old age is not a metaphysical contention; it is plain experimental evidence."
With this in mind one can clearly see that Abortion is intrinsically EVIL as it is aimed to the destruction on a defenseless Human Individual.
This is the Civil Right issue of the XXI century: to uphold that ALL INDIVIDUALS are EQUAL."
I we really wish to catch up with current knowledge this message should be heard more often.
(part III)…quotes to consider…from people whose 'pay rate' and knowledge is not a controversial issue:
The “Father of In Vitro Fertilization,” Dr. Landrum Shettles, M.D. Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Director of Research at the New York Fertility Research Foundation:
“Conception confers life and makes that life one of a kind.”
Dr. Hymie Gordon, M.D., Chairman of the Department of Genetics at the Mayo Clinic:
“By all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception.”
Dr. McCarthy de Mere, M.D., law professor, University of Tennessee:
"The exact moment of the beginning of personhood and of the human body is at the moment of conception."
Dr. Alfred Bongiovanni, M.D., University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine:
“I am no more prepared to say that these early stages represent an incomplete human being than I would be to say that the child prior to the dramatic effects of puberty … is not a human being."
(part IV)
Quotes from Textbooks…
Life Educational Reprint, 1965 (revealing the scientific consensus at the time)
“The birth of a human life really occurs at the moment the mother’s egg cell is fertilized by one of the father’s sperm cells.”
Williams Obstretrics textbook, Sixteenth Edition: “Happily, we have entered an era in which the fetus can be rightfully considered and treated as our second patient. Who would have dreamed – even a few years ago – that we could serve the fetus as a physician.” (from the Preface)
"Fertilization is a sequence of events that begins with the contact of a sperm with a secondary oocyte and ends with the fusion of their pronuclei … and the mingling of their chromosomes to form a new cell. This fertilized ovum, known as a zygote, is a large diploid cell that is the beginning of a human being." (Moore, Keith L., Essentials of Human Embryology. Toronto: B.C. Decker, Inc., 1988, p.2.)
(Part V)
more quotes…
"Although human life is a continuous process, fertilization is a critical landmark because, under ordinary circumstances, a new, genetically distinct human organism is thereby formed. …." (O'Rahilly, Ronan and Müller, Fabiola. Human Embryology and Teratology, 2nd edition. New York: Wiley-Liss, 1996, pp. 8, 29).
"Almost all higher animals start their lives from a single cell, the fertilized ovum (zygote). … The time of fertilization represents the starting point in the life history, or ontogeny, of the individual." (Carlson, Bruce M., Patten's Foundations of Embryology, 6th edition. New York: McGraw-Hill, 1996, p.3.)
(Final Part)
There was a time when Philosophers and Theologians got really mad because Scientists told them that the Earth was neither flat nor the center of the Universe.
It is he same with Abortion: we have Philosophers and ‘theologians’ who wish to place their ‘opinions’ before FACTS, and to continue ignoring the unborn individual they kill.
In a time of HOPE and CHANGE, one would have thought Abortion Laws would have been re-examined by now: after all, willful ignorance of this subject is Genocidal.
The whole thing boils down to this: Do you believe that All Individuals are Equal? Yes or No.
The day ain't over yet.
Well, yeah. Illiberals and Regressives never want the problem-causer punished for the problem they created. The Fonz probably thinks "murderers and lowlifes" and "parents' personal problems" are the fault of George Bush, Dick Cheney, Halliburton, and the military-industrial complex like everything else. Being a Regressive means never having to say "I know who caused the problem". It messes up the political advantage they're usually shooting for by blaming anyone but the rightful cause of the problem.
Good to hear that there are real pro-choice proponents out there – not like the ignorant and destructive NOW group.
The Fonz said – "Sally doesn't sound all that pro-Choice to me. How about all the murderers and lowlifes that are brought in to this world? And the fringe women who get pregnant under duress, single mothers, etc…. are more likely to produce a criminal so I say they should be encouraged. Tebow's situation isn't even relevant here – being born to a CHRISTIAN COUPLE – not some crackhead ghetto welfare mammy."
Sounds like Fonz has been watching the View. Didn't Joy B say something very similar? And how very scary is this whole line of thinking????? How can anyone know what a child will turn out to do in life? Who died and made Fonz God? This line of thinking screams eugenics. And we all know where that led……
May these tactics backfire on the pro abortionists. Surely there will be a backlash from the American people.
Huh? No comprendo gibberish………
You margaret sanger acolyte you…… did you forget to take your meds again?
Fonz was an extra on "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest…… It damaged his cerebral capacity……
OK, I just watched the commercial on tv. This ad was done very well. There isn't any in-your-face statements at all. Thed NOW people and their ilk are out of touch.
Good Commercial.
Actually, knowing his past statements, he probably thinks that "murderers and lowlifes" were caused by Israel.
Yeah, I've watched this guy–lights are on but…
You know what we really need more of? Famous guys who aren’t embarrassed to practice sexual restraint, and to say it out loud. If we had more of those, women might have fewer abortions….
Um … how about famous women who could practice some sexual restraint? Especially the young ones. The Spears sisters, Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, Ashley Simpson, Lindsay Lohan … the responsibility doesn't fall completely on the male when a woman gets pregnant. If it did, then the "choice" after-the-fact would be his, doncha think?
Bullseye.
It falls under the "fool me once" "fool me twice" saying. America has been fooled twice by these people.
Well….
Well, you look at me once, you look at me twice,
You look at me again there's gonna be a fight

I haven't read nothing on this thread. All I gotta say is "WHO DAT!!!!" Saints are Super Bowl Champions. "Bless you Boys!!!" Congratulations Saints, Saints Fans, New Orleans and LOUISIANA. Now……on to the Tebow commercial:
That commercial was truly a unique and well-thought out commercial. It wasn't in your face and certainly not worth the pathetic crying by the liberal left and "Pro-abortion" trolls to cause such a immature stink about!!! Shame on all of you who did. (And we all know who you are). The Tebows projected their story well, with humor and humility. God Bless the Tebow family and best wishes Tim Tebow. There are great things ahead in your future. Truly, a great example of when a woman is allowed to have the freedom of "Choice". How's that hope and change workin out for ya now?
Frist ad ran a short time ago during the pre-game. It was uber tastefull and nothing but positive
I hope the NOW gang all blow a gasket…and then have a nice cup of "shut the hell up".
The Fonz is an anti-semite troll sent here to discredit the conservative viewpoint. DO NOT FEED THIS TROLL!
Congrats to the Saints.
Anything to see Peyton Forehead lose!
Children, the story is about how the Pro Abortionists aren't opposing the Focus on Family ad. What backfire are you talking about?
agreed!
NOW headquarters supported OJ, saying he was innocent before any investigation took place. NOW in Los Angeles split off from them for abandoning women.
NOW does not support women's rights.
NOW is nothing but a progressive offshoot in the guise of women's rights, using its nasty tentacles to strangle the constitution.
Thank you EVER so for your encouragement to me, Dr. You give a great deal of credibility to the whole argument and the stand: Choose Life! The Tebows simply put a sweet face to your data. It all makes perfect sense. Thank you.
I think this whole debate exposes how "un-pro-choice" the hard left women groups are.
When I finally saw the commercial last night, I was like "Thats it?… Thats what the weeks of arguing was over?"
CBS must have surely known what was in the commercial, and was probably laughing at every opponent that chose to make it front page news.
This thing of babies being allowed to be born to poor mothers becoming criminals is the new talking point for the pro-abort set and it's pretty disturbing. Guilt before breath? That goes beyond even the Star Chamber (ancient movie reference there).
Great commercial and one I can relate to. My father left my mother before I was born. Fortunately she never came under the influence of "NOW". You might say that my earlier years were a bit tough but by the grace of God I have a great wife, 3 wonderful, responsible grown children and 4 grandchildren. Oh that would be 3 if "NOW" was doing the counting but looking at the ultrasound image it sure looked like four to me.
As a woman, I must say that during that time I engaged in more 'discussions' with women regarding this NOW crap then ever before. One simply cannot have it both ways! The pathetic excuses they came up with at that time were ridiculous.
Fonz, the crackhead welfare mammy you refer to was never intended by God (Love) to get to that sad state.
Only the insane cultural beliefs and policies that keep her there are a barrier to her natural ability to give Love to her child and in doing so, help the child to be unlimited, as God(Love) intended.
My mom was raised by a teen mom and a grumpy, verbally abusive, pair of grandparents during the first Great Depression and she ended up with a very good husband (50 years and counting), three kids in happy marriages with great kids, wonderful friends and memories galore. Things were not easy for her, but certainly weren't tragic either. And, to my knowledge, she's never murdered or raped anyone, as the pro-aborts are now claiming is the inevitable conclusion to poor people breeding.
You've got to wonder regarding the political motives of Margaret Sanger and the original Planned Parenthood folks as contrasted with the current group of NOW advocates and others engaged in advocacy of "termination" of the life process. It certainly has become convoluted. Planned Parenthood began as a eugenics movement to curtail the introduction of inferior individuals into society. As a result, blacks who were "counseled" to choose the abortion alternative reduced their numbers.
The NOW people consider themselves to be "liberal," while opponents of abortion generally consider themselves to be conservative. People are working at cross purposes to agendas that are now contrary to their other expressed values and demonstrate ambivalence insofar as those original goals are concerned. But for the success of abortion advocates, the black population in the United States would be significantly larger. Since there is a bloc vote for generally liberal Democratic candidates among blacks, the political strength of the left would be enhanced except for abortion being so prevalent among blacks.
The NOW folks need to stop advocating killing of blacks so as to enlarge their voting bloc. And the anti-abortionists need to realize that in decrying abortion, they are working in a way otherwise contrary to the remainder of their political agenda. As, the webs we weave …

At least there are many who see the reality of Pro-Death, Pro-Abortion, (formerly known as) Pro-Choice. After the Tebow commercial, more will see the reality of this plague of hate.
Many pro-choice pre-emptive critics have publically stated that the ad was in good taste and well-done. However, the rabid dogs among them whose offensive against the ad failed are now resorting to the claim that the ad promotes abuse toward women because Tebow tackles his mother in the commercial; their desperation knows no bounds.
"The NOW folks need to stop advocating killing of blacks so as to enlarge their voting bloc. And the anti-abortionists need to realize that in decrying abortion, they are working in a way otherwise contrary to the remainder of their political agenda. As, the webs we weave … "
We don't care if decrying abortion hurts our otherr agenda.
Right to life trumps all other issues. What is good about the other things when one is not alive to enjoy them?
Geez, this blog makes me jealous!
I want mine this good.
