Speaker Pelosi will stop at nothing to fulfill her corrupt conquests. She will bring all of the corrupt ACORN liars to try to bully all the Democrats that may be having pangs of guilt knowing quite surely what their votes can and will do. If they’re bullied into saying “yes,” it will destroy America.
Join me and Rep. Michele Bachmann in Washington DC at 12 noon EST so we can give all the Democrats who know what the end result will be the courage to say: “No, do not pass this destructive bill.”

Most of the large countries in the world have a form of Medicare for their citizens. I live in Canada and I am not claiming the system is perfect but IF YOU ARE ILL, YOU WILL BE LOOKED AFTER. The U.S. is 37th down on the list of countries providing health care to their citizens. Why do you need such a large military? You have troops in Germany! Why? Many other friendly nations also are host countries to the U.S. military. Why? If you cut down the large sums of money spent on keeping these soldiers, airmen, etc. in allied countries you could afford universal health care. In Canada we have a small amount of troops (why should we bother when the U.S. will look after anyone who dares to attach us! Why do you have to be the "big gun" in the world? Nobody is going to attack the U.S. Take care of your citizens health instead of concentrating on nonsense like Iraq. What a joke. Halliburton did very well!

Fly into National and you can get the metro there. It is very good advice to park out and ride in, the traffic and city design can be confusing. If you aren't used to cities, ask a family with kids when you have questions, it is safer. Priceline is great for getting a good hotel rate. If you go by car, there are nice, safe campgrounds on the outskirts if you need to stay over. You can always sleep in your car in a Walmart parking lot, check your area out first. It is not crime central if you get out of the city, and the Mall is very safe. Please, the bums are homeless for a reason. Try to give them food instead of money. Money goes to vices.

I assume it would be best to try to park across the river and use the subway to get you protest areas. Its been at least 25 years since I have been to DC. It wouldn't hurt to bring a few pounds of trail mix and some water, and some nice dollar bills to use in the subway token machine. If this is the way you will be arriving. Mole skin would also be good in the event of blisters.

This isn't about socialism, it's about a shift in values. Yes, Obamacare will be shifting from those better off to those in need, and it will not be cheap, but it is NOT the collapse of our society, nation, constitution, world. No one wants to sue a doctor until their baby is damaged at birth, but then they sue. No one wants to see health care as a problem while they have it, but when their coverage is dropped or premiums doubled, they're first in line to demand "reform".
I agree, this will be painful, but something needs to be done. I also think that there could have been a truly good bill in there had reps come to the table and legitimately said "this is what we can agree to", including tort reform. But they didn't, and no one in there right minds would say that wasn't a political decision — nothing would be better for them than for obama to fail to pass this, seem out of touch, and get nothing done. So that pushes the Dems to say "F the Repubs, let's get our dream bill". Which is what they've done. But it's both parties' fault.
That all being said, the health care industry will not collapse. Doctors will still get theirs. No one will force doctors to treat everyone, and the rich will still afford better doctors, as they do now (and good for them). Whether it's the right thing to do or not is up for discussion, but this isn't a surprise – He ran on health care (and received the largest majorities in popular votes and congress in 25 years), and that's what's going to do. He does have a mandate. If Repubs could legislate with 51 votes, he can push his agenda through with 59. You can (and should) vote him out in 3 years, and if it's that much of a disaster (I'm not convinced it will be), you can reverse it. If everything was run by polls, we would have stayed out of WWII and Iraq – sometimes we're right, sometimes we're wrong. But making these decisions is the job we elected them to do.

We already have Medicaid!!! And Medicare! And State Programs, and mandatory laws requiring hospitals and doctors to treat patients. What doesn't Canada and Britain understand about this? I lived in Canada [mother married a Canadian when I was a teen] and the care was a joke compared to the US, and I had no insurance whatsoever until I was 30 years old. I once went to a 'dermatologist' in Canada, for acne – you know what he gave me? A big bag of syringes! Ostensibly to 'drain' the acne? I'm not sure…? I was horrified, but I also laughed my butt off. On a more serious note – they nearly crippled my mother and killed my best friend who had to wait 8 months for a life saving surgery. She died in month 6.

can not and should not run ANY business. Everyone in the US can get health care. There are hundreds of thousands of people who either do not want health insurance or do want health insurance but spend their money on leisure or vacations.

Ok, I'm not saying I support the bill, so don't jump all over me. But I have to ask, what does everybody think about the CBO projection that this will cut the deficit? I mean, isn't the whole point of the TEA party that we want fiscal responsibility in Washington? And what about the cuts to Medicare? We do want inefficient and bloated big government programs to be cut back. I'll be the first to admit that our healthcare system does need to be reformed, because entitlements like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are driving our country to bankruptcy. Thoughts?
CBO was NOT given all the numbers. They just made a report on the numbers that were given to them by the Dems. At the end of the report it does state that this is just a preliminary analysis.
I think everyone knows things need to be done…but the government stepping in is not the answer. There are so many things that will come into play with the government involvement. Lets face this fact: Insurance companies arent the one charging for the actual care: the health care institutions and those who are in the field are charging the incredible sums. I dont expect any health insurance company to pay every cent for me. I cant get mad that an insurance company is paying the entire $2,000 for this test or that test…..It used to be a joke that aspirin is $5.00. Who do we blame? GHI? I dont see it that way. The h/c industry is charging these sums.

What is all this paranoia about America ? Health is not particular about who can and can't afford it, it's a basic human right in most right thinking democratic nations around the world. Health care when you need it, should not be something to worry about when you are least able to, whether you or your boss paid your health care premium last month? Ilness is indescriminent in who it hits, poor, middle class or wealthy, but the consequential care needed is universal.
I rather think looking from outside, that The American Health Care industry has confused rational thinking with vested interests. Time for a little thinking outside the box perhaps. I wish you well America.

Unfortunately, your comments show that you are too short-sighted to see the bigger picture.
One fact that most people in support of this bill tend to ignore is that these are private businesses offering insurance. When the government gets to step in and tell a company how it's profits are "immoral" and demand that they cover pre-existing conditions – this is not a free market. What you WILL find is that these businesses will realize that the industry is not condusive to creating and adding to shareholder wealth, and they will leave the business.
A business that is bound by outside regulations will make whatever decisions it can to maximize wealth, and when the situation deteriorates to the point where they cannot stay profitable, they will close. Insurance is just that- insurance that will help you out "just in case". It's not a "medical payment plan", which covers all of your bills. You pay into this business with the expectation that should you have a catastrophic incident, they will help DEFRAY most of the costs, not pay for everything.
Once these businesses leave, this gives the government a large flock of uninsured people that will need to be covered by the government. Once they have the power to make decisions over your healthcare, you are beholden to another person- quite possibly with your life in the balance. When you've got an insurance company, you have a contract that spells out plainly what is covered and what is not. If a government decides that they are spending too much and need to cut, denial of service will become the norm. ( unfortunately, you're probably not thinking ahead all of these steps… People who are emotional and visceral tend to avoid logical and strategic games like chess that require thinking many steps ahead of your current position).
Unfortunately, our position now is quite precarious, and we're considering spending a ton of money on an ill-conceived, feel-good bill. You'll feel better that you "did something" in the short term, but 7 years from now when you could quite possibly be beholden to the government for chemotherapy, you will likely snap back to this very day and curse your shortsightedness.
As a cancer survivor who racked up 1.5 million dollars in hospital bills, I slept comfortably knowing that I had a solid contract with a business that was expected to provide me a service. They performed wonderfully,and I sing their praises to everyone I know. As a taxpayer who has witnessed the inefficiency, incompetence, and utter failure of many government programs, I shudder to think of what the outcome could have been 4 years ago had my care been in the hands of the government.

The rally is important, the calls are important, but the Congress has been alerted the November elections in reality are only a handful of months away.

Thanks, John, for the thoughtful response. While I have been against the bill, I think most of us do agree that something needs to be done about health care. It's unfortunate that this wasn't a truly bipartisan bill, that Republican ideas like tort reform and purchasing across state lines wasn't included. The bill still has major problems, such as the unconstitutionality of forcing everyone to purchase health care, but at least the CBO now says it will cut the deficit, which was the major problem. Yes, it will probably pass, and yes, Obama and the Dems will probably be voted out of office for it. I guess I'm still disgruntled with the bill but less afraid of it bankrupting the country.

FGS, Read the bill, bud (all wild stories aside, its shorter than "Tom Sawyer", so suck it up). Any reasonable person would want this bill to pass. It will save overall US and US government payments for healthcare (which currently are 25% higher than anywhere in the world, especially countries that you'd want to live in outside the US). The bill will insure legal Americans through no-cost insurance pools, which will save local (e.g., state, county) governments from picking up the emergency health costs of uninsured folks visiting hospitals. And the bill will allow control of health insurance companies, which are allowed (without any legal constraint (including anti-trust controls) to extract obscene profits from the American healthcare system without giving a cent back. All in all, the Senate Bill makes sense.
What is with all this negative waves coming from the conservatives all over the internet? This defeatism is aids the malcontents. What is going on in our politics today is exactly what is suppose to happen. Things have gotten so far out of hand because the conservatives have been asleep at the switch since the JFK's death. This country never got over his death and the radicals, progressives work 24/7 for over 40 years to create this mess we are in. We are in a war with people who have believe in a big centralized government going back to the Federalist and the anti-Federalist. My wife was diagnosed with cancer four years ago and within a week of visiting our local doctor was under care and counciling leading to successful treatment.
