The Huffington Post is reporting that everybody’s favorite, too-classy-for-words feminist attorney, Gloria Allred, has written a protest letter to CBS over their decision to run the Tim Tebow celebrate-life ad during this year’s Superbowl.
Ms. Allred’s complaint? That the ad (which she has not seen) will imply or state outright “false” and “misleading information.” You see, Ms. Allred contends that since Mrs. Tebow was living in the Philippines (as a Christian missionary) at the time she became pregnant with Tim, and that since Philippine law prohibits abortion, then she would not have – could not have – been advised by her doctor to have an abortion for health reasons.

Now, I’m no lawyer but I am a woman. And every woman knows full well that women were getting counseled to have abortions for health reasons before abortion became legal in the United States. In fact, doctors were performing D&Cs for women who were pregnant without a single soul outside the operating room being the wiser. Even before Roe, doctors were advising an expectant mother about health problems and risks to her pre-born child. It would surely take a fool to believe that doctors in the Philippines are so different.
Presumably, since Ms. Allred is herself a woman of mature age, she is bound to know that an American citizen, who became pregnant during the late 1980s could very easily have been advised that the pregnancy was in danger, due to prescription drugs ingested by the mother. An American citizen returning to the US from the Philippines to have an abortion – fully legal then – would have been as easy as hopping on a jet plane. Is Ms. Allred suggesting that Mrs. Tebow could not have done this if she had wanted to do it? Surely not. That would be stupid.
Considering the gargantuan expense of a 30-second Super Bowl ad, said to be from $2.5 to $3 million, I would assume – just from a common sense standpoint – that it would be impossible for Mrs. Tebow to add all the details about the medical advice she was given. Nor would it be possible for her to give the outline of Philippine abortion law, which Ms. Allred and the ladies at the Women’s Equal Rights and Legal Defense Fund seem to think is “required” by truth in advertising law.
Nevertheless, Ms. Allred has written a threatening letter to CBS, stating her intention to submit a complaint to the FCC if the ad runs without a summary of Philippine abortion law.
Yes, feminists will do everything they can to prevent the other side of the half-choice of abortion from coming to light.

In this one, though, they appear to be jumping the abortion-rights shark.
If I were prone to gratuitous sympathy, I would feel quite sorry for these women. But I’m not so prone. And I don’t feel sorry for them.
Because of them, every single day, more innocent children are killed, while growing, snugly nestled in their mothers’ wombs. Because of these women, another huge hunk of America’s future is thrown out with the medical waste at the end of every killing day at the abortion mills.
Let’s face it. The younger generations are turning against abortion in droves. As living, breathing survivors of Roe, they realize more than their elders ever could, that but for the grace of God and a good mother, they themselves would have been the medical waste. It’s a sobering reality that feminists have created for our young. Survivors guilt? Plenty.
I suspect that Tim Tebow and his mother are opening a floodgate of testimonials that will begin to drown out the women-are-the-only-ones-with-rights cacophony. Soon, very soon.
So, it’s not hard to understand Ms. Allred’s desperation.
Is it?

The reason for this ad has little to do with encouraging women to risk their lives or the lives of their potentially ill babies, but is about Focus on the HeteroFamily scheme to raise millions to refill their coffers, drained in all those bigot ballots they bankrolled to stop marriage equality in the last couple of years. Check their webpage (you do the work googling it) and you will see the plans they have for their new found source of funding through this ad. They intend to use the money to lobby Congress not to overturn Don't Ask Just Kick the Gays Out & Replace them with Felons & Fascists (DADT), not to overturn the Discriminatory Offensive Marriage Attack (DOMA), to lobby state legislators to deny equal marriage rights to their taxpaying gay and lesbian citizens, and where possible put more bigot ballots up for votes in any of the remaining states who have not amended their constitutions yet. Of course, many people reading this article will be for their homo-obsessed heterosupremacist tyrannical theocRAT campaign, but Big Journalism should do a story on how much money Focus on the HeteroFamily has raked in since they started this public relations move.
Planetspinz, you are rediculous! Sure you aren't parodying the liberal side as a secret conservative? You did a great job of it!
Allred is a troll! Women like her need to keep their mouth shut!! What does she have against Tebow's mother telling her story??? It had more to do with celebrating LIFE than mourning an abortion!
Yes, it is stupid that these people are making outright lies against an advert that they haven't even seen yet! It harms the women who value the private and personal choice on whether to have an abortion or not by pretending they are "pro-choice" when they are "anti-choice".
I think we should celebrate the fact that Tim Tebow's mother was able to make a personal and private decision on whether or not to abort. And the drop in numbers of people who choose this option are a great sign that giving the people an informed choice will always be better then government mandated decisions.
WTF. If these people fought this hard to keep bad people out we might have no crime in America.
Tebow is a delightful human being. Leave him the F*** ALONE ALREADY.

Allred made a fool of herself during the trial of the Melendrez Bros. (rich Hollywood "kids" , murdered their parents for the $$$$) and is still trying to recover.
When their $$$$ ran out – she ran out.
@planetspinz: I'm sorry you've chosen (yes, chosen) to view life through a gay prism. It's actually very revealing how narrow in scope that prism colors everything you see. Who's the real homo-obsessed here? I know many persons with same-sex attraction who uphold the very ideals that Focus on the Family fights for. The difference between you and them is that they see their same-sex desires as a deficiency to be healed, not as a "fetish for state-sanctioned self-esteem" that Charles Winecoff wrote about over at BigHollywood. We all have disorders to overcome. Some have a heavier burden than others. That's why there are groups like Exodus and Courage and organizations like NARTH. If Focus on the Family makes any money as a result from airing this pro-life ad, then I'm sure it will be put to good use.
I did a quick Google search on "bigot ballots" and know I know where you get your Progtard talking points.
THIS snippet was from Village Voice:" from tyrannical theocRAT bigot ballot boxes"
Unoriginal and unhinged.
All Dread is pushing gals to be tramps without consequences. Can't abort std's. Can't abort breast cancer which shows up with major frequencies to women that are post menopause and had abortions when young.
She's trash.
Whether or not you make a good point, you lost me at 'Focus on the Heterofamily' and 'bigot ballots'. I knew that the rest of what I would read was not a reasoned argument but propaganda. No time for that.
Nice job.
I'm not a great fan of Gloria Allred, and I have very mixed feelings about right-to-life and pro-choice. There clearly are
important aspects to both sides of this question, although most countries in the western world have leaned toward pro-choice, and left the decision to the mother and her physician.
However, in Ms. Allred's defense, she did NOT make a fool of herself during the Menendez trial, and I was completely unaware that she was even associated with it. If I recall correctly, the brothers were represented by Leslie Abramson and Jill Lansing. Ralph L. Seifer, Long Beach, California. Attorney at law, retired.
@planetspinz, I was thinking of tersley responding to your hate filled facist/progressive uniformed rant. But, I know nothing could get through your helplessly closed confused mind. So instead I am running not walking over to the FOCUS ON THE FAMILY web site to donate. I am sure my time and money will be better spent there instead of trying to get through to you. (check your history books, facist/progressives are the ones for abortions, fits there eugenics plan to get rid of undesirables oh I don't know like the chronicly ill, mentally ill oh and your favorite HOMOSEXUALS)
And after they do your story, then they can do a story on how much money Planned Parenthood has spent on their eugenics programs…
…and, in keeping with the intellectual depth you just presented: "You're a poopyhead, too"
I don't understand the opposition to this ad from the "pro-choice" crowd. Mrs. Tebow made a choice…she chose life. Isn't that as pro-choice as it gets?
Or could it be she didn't make THEIR choice? Ms. Allred, you are not pro-choice, you are pro-abortion…just be honest and you might…MIGHT get some respect.
Very good, Aquinas.
" I have very mixed feelings about right-to-life and pro-choice." Well, Hell, at least you got yours (life) and isn't that how it always is with Lefties?
Hey Gloria! Go find some 'scorned woman' and make her famous. It's what you do best.
Your mudlsinging lacks any real context what so ever. Your hatred of anyone not gay is blatantly obvious. Take a moment and look at what you wrote and notice your language. You have zero tolerance of anyone who's views are contrary to yours. You will never garner support if you think lashing out at anyone who is not gay is going to win us over. Afterall, the vast majority of people are heterosexuals, not gays. I think insulting the majority of people shows us that the best you can do is to shoot yourself in your own foot.
hats-off to the tebows…good to know "choice" is alive and well. all women should be thrilled that she exercised her right as woman and mother…why do the "pro-choice" (aka – pro-abortion) groups get so offended? pam tebow should be celebrated…and goodness knows, planned parenthood would never give her a platform, so enter focus on the family…to the victors go the spoils…
marriage equality…civil unions not enough for you? when you guys compare your plight to the civil rights movement, you degrade the beauty of that cause…
so as long as i am a taxpayer, i should be able to have and do whatever i want…don't use that logic often, it's lame. btw, why do you feel the need to characterize yourself or others by their sexual orientation as the supreme identifier? humans have so many characteristics that make them special and unique…why the fixation on hetero or homo…i don't go around describing myself in that manner…it's inappropriate…but somehow in our pious quest for political correctness, we accept this type of description as trumping all else.
and why are you guys so angry all the time? homo-obsessed, i am not…you can do whatever you please in your relationships…just live your life…create your civil union…and be happy.
Simple question, spinz.
What, exactly, if anything, is wrong with mommy and daddy staying together, and having a baby? That seems to be a situation anyone with a brain cell would see as ideal, biological, and a net positive. You see it as evil. Can you explain this coherently?
Thank you Don'tTread. This is a great example of citizen investigative journalism at its best. Good work!

Finally. We now know that 'pro-choice' really means 'pro-abortion' to these Libs. Tebow's mother had a choice and made it. But the rabid froth coming from Libs over this commercial squarely positions them as abortion advocates rather than anything having to do with 'choice.' The unmasking of Libs over the past year has been wonderful to see!
ALL-RED all the time. Her name pegs her politics.(and I'm not referring to state voting colors, either!) What a clown. Go back to sleep, Gloria. We all know that pro-choice is a euphemism for abortion the same way Planned Parenthood is a euphemism for murder.
The pro-death crowd should run an add extolling the virtues of abortion. They could even have testimonials of miserable liberals that wish they had been aborted, for mother earth, and all, you know…give it the green twist!
It must be torture to be filled with angst and hate at the story of a women who was willing to sacrifice her life for that of her unborn child.
It must devastate you that the majority of Californians practiced their democratic right to vote and chose to vote against Proposition 8.
Furthermore, it must fill you with jealousy that an institution practices its Religious Freedom to provide Biblical counseling to couples who are facing difficulties and parents who need a place to turn when they don't know the right thing to say to their child.
An institution who's main goal is to preserve the American family.
One day you may get your much sought after Gay Marriage and it will be tolerated; but, it will never be accepted as the right way to raise a child. It will always be considered abnormal by many and deviant by some.
But, than again- you are probably not concerned about the right way to raise a child. I know this by your insulting paranoid rant that was brought about by the controversy of a Mother's willingness to sacrifice her life for her unborn child.
OOps…my rant was supposed to be a reply to Planetspinz. Good point about the "zero tolerance of anyone who's views…"
For years Gloria has been notorious for jumping on ANY big story, high profile case that might give her some air time and publicity. Ever notice???? She loves the TV camera. Guess she got so wrapped at the opportunity to make the national news, she kind of overlooked the little item of "freedom of speech". If the situation were reversed, suddenly she would be screaming that!
If she is so dead set on getting the "Planned Parenthood" message out there, maybe she ought to ante up a few of her own $$$$ and buy an add.
You stupid pillowbiting pole smoker.. kiss your husband and stfu
Outstanding point…and from the sounds of it…you aren't just "some dame"…you have a very astute mind to pick up on this point.
Either you are Pro-Choice…or you aren't. Mrs. Tebow is telling a story, through her Heisman Trophy winning son, of the choice she was confronting…and what she CHOSE to do.
The thought police wish to eliminate the CHOICE from Pro-Choice. Which means, they are advocating something else. The problem with THEIR narrative…is there is nobody alive to point to…as a reflection of the wisdom or beauty of having made the "choice".
" I have very mixed feelings about right-to-life and pro-choice."
Get an opinion… you either believe an unborn baby is a little human being or you don't.
"most countries in the western world have leaned toward pro-choice, and left the decision to the mother and her physician."
Still looking toward Government for your opinion… It's either a baby or it isn't.
"in Ms. Allred's defense, she did NOT make a fool of herself during the Menendez trial"
So you reply to a post about an add celebrating a women who chose to sacrifice herself for her unborn child and the only opinion you tell that is your own is about a rich kid murder trial in defense of the shrill women who is writing a protest letter against a commercial she has yet to see.
What a waste…get a real opinion.
Man… these pole-sitters are losing what little mind they have over this.. WHY are butt-lickers worried about a woman getting pregnant and keeping their child? The NAMBLA swishes should lick their crappy teeth over the availability of new boys.. They should legalize lawyer hunts.. 2 days a year.. that would help solve a lot of the crazy lawsuits and dumb regultions being pushed on everyone
Found this on Wikipedia. Somehow I am guessing this was going on in the 80's as well
One study estimated that, despite legal restrictions, in 1994 there were 400,000 abortions performed illegally in the Philippines and 80,000 hospitalizations of women for abortion-related complications. 12% of all maternal deaths in 1994 were due to unsafe abortion according to the Department of Health of the Philippines. Two-thirds of Filipino women who have abortions attempt to self-induce or seek solutions from those who practice folk medicine
Original study here

Oops, sorry, "ad" would be correct. By the way, no one in CA pays attention to her, nor do we care about her opinions. I wish she would stop getting air time. Why would anyone criticize a great story of life, regardless of your position on abortion?
Megyn Kelly smacked Allred down last night and left her sputtering at the end.
The commies are just afraid of these beautiful children growing up and fighting for the real America! They want to control who is born so that they can turn them into more commies in these liberal schools. Obama is trying to change what is taught in schools with his new education plan. We are on our way of being more RED than the ol' USSR!!
This is the best reflection of the Pro-Choice side – Norma L. McCorvey (Roe of Roe vs Wade) is now Pro-Life.
Not even "journalism"- just a simple 5 sec. search to see where the garbage is coming from. As long as Leftists continue to allow themselves to believe WE'RE the stupid ones, they'll always be left wondering why they're the losers.
And no US doctor ever gave someone illegal advice?
Too bad these libs did not have mothers who were pro-abortion. The world would be better off.
Does Allred (a fitting commie name) regret that her mother brought her to term? Perhaps she would be happier had her mother decided differently.
The real point is that the Margaret Sanger pregressive perverts just hate each and every birth, when they could have satisfied their ritual virginal murder with an abortion.
I suspect that in the background of Allred and her allies is a powerful Christophobic attitude. It seems that the pro-death, pro-abortion group is about as far from Christian values as it is possible to be. Hmm, who is on the other side of the force?
Thank God, that you and your queer partner can't reproduce. Kind of like the revenge of the Almighty on perversion isn't it?
.
I saw Gloria Allred get smacked down and KO'd by Megyn Kelly on FOX yesterday over this.
Megyn called her out for doing this as a media PR stunt and pointed out the Ms. Tebow WAS, indeed, allowed to have medical waiver for abortion in the Pillipines, despite Allred's assertion to contrary.
Nice one Megyn…. on at 1 pm everyday on new 2 hour show America Live
.
As for DOMA, my bible belt state shouldn't be forced to recognize a same-sex "marriage" recognized in one of those heathen Yankee states.
Yeah, homosexual activists kind of gloss over Hitler's regime killing feminine looking homosexual men. More butch gays were okay with him.
On a related note, have you noticed that American homosexuals don't condemn majority Muslim nations like Iraq which slaughters gays at rates that put Nazis to shame?
I guess American homosexuals are "bold" only against people like Christians who respond to hate with love and reason not machine gun fire.
It is awfully obliging of unhinged leftist to telegraph their bigotry that way. I realize they probably can't help themselves, and consequently thanks aren't really necessary. Still…it's nice to be nice.
Dang. How do you clean coffee out of a keyboard.
I actually feel sorry for Allred's clients because If this article correctly summarizes a letter Allread has sent to CBS, it certainly does show desperation by Allred's clients AND legal malpractice by Allred in putting her clients in the untenable position of being accused of stupidity, not to mention tortious interference with contract. Even assuming, arguendo, that Tebow's mother were lying through her teeth about what a doctor in the Phillippines told her to do about aborting the pregnancy (and of course I am NOT assuming that at all), there is no FTC or FCC law or regulation whatsoever that forces CBS to post the laws of the Phillippines at the time of Mrs. Tebow's pregnancy. If there were, it would be on its face a violation of the First Amendment.
They are worried not because they give a damn about women, or even homosexuals, for that matter. They, and everyone else, are just grist for the leftists' social deconstruction mill. That's why they also jump the shark with the oxymoron of homosexual marriage. If they left it at civil unions, they'd have met with much less resistance.
Yeah. Those "I Had An Abortion" t-shirts are just flying off the shelves. They could sell them with a zip lock bag, bearing the label "I Was A Baby."
Got video? Sounds popcorn worthy!
It's called "grasping at straws." Leftists do it all the time. Anything, even pedantic, angels-on-the-head-of-a-pin style obsession with imaged hypocrisy of the pro-life side, will serve to distract from the simple, horrific reality of what abortion is.
I think it boils down to covetousness. Leftist do it with wealth and power, sure. But I think they also covet the serenity that comes for accepting certain abiding truths. Of course, they can't steal this, but they can try to tear down those whose inner-peace they cannot abide.
Didn't you just love it! Megyn didn't let Allred off the hook for her rediculous position by addressing her points from a legal position. Another great Fox moment.
I see not only MSM "journalists" are lined up on their knees, waiting for their chance to brew some black tea. You go, @planetspinz! Mmm, mmm, mmm!
The fear for those women who rely on the abortion industry for their life's work, is that the Tebow ad may cause some women to realize what CHOICE really means and that it's not just a buzzword for abortion.
I challenge pro-choice advocates to find a story that is as uplifting as the Tebow's story. They can't and it infuriates them. Therefore, an opposing view which is positive and uplifting is unacceptable to them and they will stop it any way they can. Free speech be damned. Liberalism is truly a mental disorder.
Amazing how someone not aborted learned to hate his HeteroFamily scheming parents so much.
Great article. You really articulate well the issue with Ms. Aldred's position.
For a great shock (and another delight) go to the Washington Post to a column by Sally Jenkins, who believes abortion but says the Tebow ad is fully appropriate and welcome for many reasons. She also outlines why NOW is remiss in their stance against all things pro- life.
Again, it's the WaPo so sit before reading.
Thank you Andrew Breitbart. Big J is the best of the all the BIG sites to date. I know you are working hard and I hope you can keep all this going.
All-RED is just a media whore – no better or smarter than Britney Spears.
When is FOX NEWS going to stop putting her Pelosi-style botox'd mug on out televisions???
All-dread scared the living crap out of my kids when she attempted a smile.
Stop putting her on TV, she has nothing to offer and frankly, we're sick of seeing her and listening to her repeated absurdities.
She really likes it she gets PAID.
Otherwise she has a appointment to get her nails "sharpened". "Poof – gone".
Yeah, Here you go,
http://hotair.com/archives/2010/02/01/video-megyn...
There's the rub … ol spinz does not have a brain cell.
We will have to answer for the slaughter of innocents.
Getting up off the floor now.
I'm a firm beliver in retroactive abortions. It's never to late to get rid those unwanted Progressives, for the health of the country.
only a fool speaks before hearing a matter
Wow, a bigoted loony-lefty, unable to present themselves reasonably or rationally. How……………………………………………
COMMON
Satan.
Thanks for the link to this brilliant and hilarious commentary. This was Jenkins' best shot against the femi-nazis:
[Here's what we do need a lot more of: Tebows. Collegians who are selfless enough to choose not to spend summers poolside, but travel to impoverished countries to dispense medical care to children, as Tebow has every summer of his career. Athletes who believe in something other than themselves, and are willing to put their backbone where their mouth is. Celebrities who are self-possessed and self-controlled enough to use their wattage to advertise commitment over decadence.
You know what we really need more of? Famous guys who aren't embarrassed to practice sexual restraint, and to say it out loud. If we had more of those, women might have fewer abortions. See, the best way to deal with unwanted pregnancy is to not get the sperm in the egg and the egg implanted to begin with, and that is an issue for men, too -- and they should step up to that. ]
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/arti...
The ad will imply false or misleading information?
What? You mean clydesdales don't play football?
Hmmm…I've long thought that progressives have a real pagan bent, is abortion a high tech version of child sacrifice to their goddess, mother earth or what?
It's to bad they have no idea what they are talking about.
Gloria appeared on Fox News' new show America Live and was dessimated by Megyn Kelly – you could see Gloria sweating! She tried to dodge and weave, but every argument she came up was challenged by Megyn, and Gloria did not have any answers. I am sure Gloria was relieved when the segment was over.!
Hate speech! Hate speech!
Pro choice means pro abortion and no choice for the sweet baby or the women that choose life.
How about if CBS gives them equal time by airing a commercial showing the pro abortion side of things, you know, like a video of a doctor sucking the brains out of an innocent baby's head and yanking off its sweet arms and then leaving it on the gurney writhing in pain and covered in blood to suffer until it dies. Would that satisfy their blood lust?
She can smack me down anytime.
Pam Tebow has more class in the hair she leaves behind in her hairbrush than Gloria has in her whole body.
You mean the ad must be entirely factual?
I'm rich!
I've seen Super Bowl ads with talking squirrels and dancing babies.
Each of those companies is going to have to PROVE those things are real, or I'm getting a settlement from them.
You're going too far even accepting the *possibility* that Mrs. Tebow couldn't have had a *legal* abortion in the Philippines because abortion was illegal there. She'd been in a coma! The doctors would not have had to so much as bend a rule.
Don't let Allred define the conversation.
The pro-abortion lobby likes to pretend weird things about "life of the mother" and then turn around and claim that women didn't used to get abortions for dangerous pregnancies *legally* all of the time. They did. It wasn't advertised, not because anyone was hiding from the law, but because it was a tragedy.
Even well after roe vs. wade while the US military was forbidden from performing abortions in military hospitals, I know a woman who had two of them for medical reasons.
The pro-abortion activists define down "medical reasons" to "don't want to get stretch marks" and then accuse pro-life of wanting to refuse abortions for "the life of the mother."
They can lie, but there is no reason for anyone else to go along with their fantasies.
Actually… that's probably what this is about.
Here's Tebow… with a legitimately "life of the mother" difficulty and she chose to take a very real risk and carry the child on the hopes it would all work out, knowing that quite likely it would not.
Sort of makes "the whole idea of having a child freaked me out" sound less like "psychological distress" and more like the selfish whining that it is.
Perhaps we should call her "Gloria All Dead?"
L.A resident know that this ambulance chaser is a national grifter. Like the Talibans, who work for who ever pays most
and usually it comes down to hi-publicity numbers on big institutions or celebrities (advising one of Tiger's "dates") and it is so obious and utterly disgusting. It s a free country, she can do what she likes.
This monster is by no means a feminist, considering half of the deaths she advocates would have been female.
No it's OK because the conservatives will keep having their babies while the liberal "choicers" will keep killing themselves off. So in the future we will have whole conservative generations whose mothers chose LIFE.
Ralph,
You are absolutely correct. Allred had nothing to do with the Menendez trial. They were represented by L. Abramson as you stated. I don't think the two previous replies to your post are helpful. We need to have honest, open debate not mudslinging. Post continues…in next reply
As a mother and grandmother now, I have had to live with the grief of having had an abortion in 1970 when it was still illegal in the states although legal in NY. I was 16 and persuaded by teachers no less that that was the solution and encouraged to use someone else's (over 18) ID and travel out of state to NY. Of course, I was responsible ultimately and ultimately, I made that choice. However, it was a totally uninformed choice and I have had to live with having taken the life of my own child all these years.
She seems to just like killing. Probably is especially fond of the back of the head technique, like the Brothers Menendez did with shotguns, and an abortionist does with scissors.
last part of post
It is a travesty that women who purport to be caring advocates of other women would perpetuate and condone abortion. They have committed a terrible injustice to the very women they express such concern for. It is a lie. Just as it was a lie in 1970 to tell women (and young impressionable girls) that an abortion was the mere removal of a zygote; a thing, unhuman, cells, certainly not a child! We have lost generations. It breaks my heart.
It is only by God's grace that I am forgiven. But grace is not cheap. It was and remains the costliest thing of all. I hope my deeply personal story speaks to your heart.
More than half since worldwide, females are usually the ones picked to be aborted.
Here's proof Allred is lying on different counts:
http://www.un.org/esa/population/publications/abo...
ABORTION POLICY
Grounds on which abortion is PERMITTED:
To save the life of the woman YES
To preserve physical health No
To preserve mental health No
Rape or incest No
Foetal impairment No
Economic or social reasons No
Available on request No
Although the Penal Code does not list specific exceptions to the general prohibition on abortion, under the general criminal law principles of necessity as set forth in article 11(4) of the Code, an abortion MAY BE LEGALLY PERFORMED to save the pregnant woman’s life.
Despite the severity of the law, abortion appears to be WIDELY PRACTISED in the Philippines as a means of birth control and is RARELY PROSECUTED. The International Planned Parenthood Federation reports estimates ranging from 155,000 to 750,000 induced abortions PER YEAR.
Allred got smacked down by Megyn Kelly over her attempt to make this a Phillippine law issue.
She defends killers – AND advocates killing unborn innocents.
Gloria Allred is a complete lunatic, but a very nice person. During my stint as a potwasher in a trendy L.A. restaurant the waiters would report on celebrity diners. Gloria was very nice to the staff and share lunch with L.A. conservatives. Not all libs are miserable people, just most of them. Rachel Maddow just exudes bitterness.
Wow, look at the projection.
Really had me snorting at your "zero tolerance of anyone who's views are contrary to yours" bit.
Gloria Allred – an abortion opportunity missed! Hay, as Eric Cartman's mother asked, can you have an abortion a hundred (or six hundred) months post-partum?
Wow another troll to ignore. What a surprise!
That's not inconsistent. Feminists don't care about the welfare of women. That's just PR.
Ah, http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-godwins-rule-of-n... Do reliable when arguing with lefty kooks.
"As living, breathing survivors of Roe, they realize more than their elders ever could, that but for the grace of God and a good mother, they themselves would have been the medical waste. It’s a sobering reality that feminists have created for our young. Survivors guilt? Plenty."
I wish you'd never been born! – is rightly considered child abuse.
The constant message that children are a hardship, a "punishment", and that above all else a woman must have the right to abort a baby is exactly that message but on a cultural and societal scale.
Of course young people see themselves!
My childhood best friend had a severely disabled child (the cord had wrapped around his neck and he suffered brain damage.) He is disabled enough that he'll never live on his own. She said this to me once. "Every day I wish that he had been born without the problems that he has, but I never wish he hadn't been born."
Good one Stan! I love the "green twist" line. Classic!
Ironically, she's perfectly willing to admit the humanity of the unborn when it helps her win sympathy for her clients, like she did in the Lacey Peterson case. She was representing the "other woman" and repeatedly invoked the name of the poor unborn Peterson child who was killed along with his mother.
This witch is an opportunist media whore ambulance chaser. She's the feminazi version of Jesse Jackson. She should be ignored.
I, too, am a regretful post-abortive mother. You are in my prayers, and I thank God that you have also realized your error and found forgiveness. Bless your heart, my sister.
There are a lot of us over at the Jill Stanek blog. Hope to see you there, if you haven't been to that blog yet.
Allred is lower than I thought. Ugh.
The fact that they could run an "abortion as a morally equivalent choice" ad with the millions of public dollars they receive is apparent.
The problem with that, though, is that the subject of choosing abortion is all but impossible to portray in a tasteful, inoffensive way that would be accepted by CBS or other networks. Although pro-lifers would welcome it, It would be impossible to show the choice of abortion without informing the audience of what is being "chosen", which is the physical dismemberment and vacuuming of a live human being from what should be the safest place on earth; the womb. And then, ultimately, the ad would turn hearts AGAINST abortion, instead of for it, which would cause their ad to backfire.
Look, if they won't tell women the truth when the woman is pregnant and in the middle of trying to make a decision about abortion, then WHY would you think they would tell the world in some ad? No, the only option they have is to try and shut US up. Sorry, tho. Not gonna happen.
Shocked again to read it!! Great stuff.
@Joe Jervis
Two big flaws in your argument.
First, Black DEMOCRATS share the "Christian right's" view of homosexuality being unhealthy and evil. Hence, this same demographic overwhelmingly opposes same-sex "marriage" as demonstrated by the Prop. 8 vote:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/nov/18/a...
Black Democrats feel vindicated in their beliefs in the wake of the White gay racism they endured following the passage of Prop. 8:
http://holycoast.blogspot.com/2008/11/n.html
Secondly, Muslims are REALLY "intolerant" of homosexuality, which is an act worthy of death according to their faith. This explains why you'll have a time finding "pro-Gay mosques" in America.
Hence, in an era of increasing honor killings on US soil, don't be shocked if one day you hear of a Muslim guy who "outs" himself and is promptly shot dead by his father.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-11-29-ho...
In short, it's a myth that homosexuality would be more accepted if all the White evangelical Christians disappeared tomorrow.
It's similar to how race pimps like the Three Revs (Jackson, Sharpton, Wright) don't really care about Black people.
It's sad that an attorney with Ms. Allred's experience doesn't understand the correct legal application of a claim of false and misleading advertising. Just because abortions weren't legal in the Phillipines doesn't mean that option was unavailable to Mrs. Tebow. Ms. Allred and her "pro-choice" pals are the ones who are guilty of peddling false and misleading information. If they are pro-choice as they claim to be, they would be supporting Mrs. Tebow's choice, not calling her a liar.
I am sure there are a lot more who have a reasonable respect for others' views including Focus on the Family, but aren't guilty about their own urges. Those are embarrassed by the militants stirring up animosity over what should be a private matter. You'll never see them in the media, both because they are private and because the media will NEVER give voice to a supposed victim who refuses to see himself as a victim.
Godwin's Law does not apply when the conversation *begins* with a reference to Nazis, you noob.
Please explain how calling for all homosexuals to be sent to re-education camps does not evoke the Nazis.
First of all, I love love love that you quote the Moonie Times. ROTFLMAO, as the kids say.
Secondly, I made no claim about tolerance on the part of Muslims.
But thank you for not defending these fascists "family" groups.
You stretch credulity, only to find at the end of your reach a fellow lefty kook.
But as funny as your inability to form an argument without reaching for the Hitler Pez dispenser, it is really a laugh to see you attempt to deflect your Godwinism by attempting to characterize another lefty's comments as a Godwinism.
That's grade school playground stuff. Grow up.
Indeed. Jesse was big time PO'ed when Barry got acorned into office. It kind of cuts into your race-baiting street cred when the POtuS is black.
Another useful idiot for the left. When will you all wake up to the fact that you've been brain washed in to believing Government is the answer to everything. Try reading the history books that haven't been destroyed by the progressives and start thinking for yourself. Remember, when a 'movement' or 'revolution' succeeds, the first to be done away with are the USEFUL IDIOTS!
The ideaology you support will be end of America as we know it, but they'll do away with people like you first becuase they will not need you spewing this hateful retoric any longer. READ HISTORY!!!
If the government makes the "gay lifestyle" illegal tomorrow, they can make the Evangelical Christian "lifestyle" illegal the day after that. Any American who values liberty should stand up against what Dobson and his ilk try to do, whether you agree with his goals or not. It's the means that are the problem. He's trying to use government to regulate the lives of others, and because he's religious, everyone thinks he's a "good guy." It's a double-standard. If you're a Christian, aren't you trying to save souls? If you coerce people to behave in Godly ways, and they do it without meaning it, is that really saving someone? It's just surface behavior, just like it's totally possible to keep abortions legal while discouraging people from having them. Think about it.
I can only infer that you support the above-cited groups in their call to send homosexuals to concentration camps.
http://joemygod.blogspot.com/2010/01/american-fam...
It's because Dobson isn't interested in people making choices that he, personally, doesn't believe in. It's not about the Tebows. It's about James Dobson, an anti-American, anti-Bill of Rights bully who wouldn't hesitate to take away the liberty of anyone who makes lifestyle choices he disapproves of faster than Tim Tebow could throw a pass. And about CBS's double-standard in denying the Unitarian Universalists their right to purchase an ad four years ago, because they were "advocating" the idea that their church was open to gays and lesbians. If that ad didn't fly, this shouldn't either.
And that inference only illustrates your narrow-mindedness. My people aren't much for concentration camps.
I don't think many here are advocating the government making homosexual behavior/relationships illegal. Many do not support gay marriage and some that visit this site do. But not supporting gay marriage is not the same as wanting homosexual relationships to be illegal. You make good points about government not regulating the lives of others and almost all conservatives support these points. But just because someone values freedom and choice doesn't mean they have to believe that everything should be made legal. And it doesn't mean that we shouldn't support the rights of someone to express the opinions they have either.
It is possible to keep abortions legal while discouraging people from having them, but that is not generally what is happening. If it was, than so many pro-choice supporters would not be so vocally against this ad. Despite what you might think about the organization that is funding it, the message of the ad, as far as anyone knows, is a positive one about one woman's choice to keep her baby despite advice not to. This kind of message is what is needed to help discourage some from having abortions, which should be everyones goal (lessening abortions) yet it is opposed.
And for the record I do not support abortion and think it should be illegal except for certain medical reasons and rape cases. But even this need should be diminishing because babies can survive earlier and earlier outside the womb so instead of an abortion to protect the mother in many cases an early c-section could be performed so that the baby and the mother have a chance at life. And in the case of rape victims there is available an emergency contraceptive pill that prevents most pregnancies if taken the right way. So that leaves only those women who for whatever medical reason can not take that pill that might need an abortion.
And Gloira Allred and her FemiNazi cohorts are interested in people making choices they don't agree with? Peddle that notion somewhere else.
I'm sure Dobson put a gun to the head of those nose-pickin' Tebows and forced them in front of the camera.
OK. How would YOU characterize a call to use "the force of law" to send homosexuals into forced "reparative therapy" re-education camps against their will?
I decided to waste 15 minutes of my time to see if your allusions to re-education camps advocacy from the FRC had any merit. It doesn't. Feel free to provide documentation if you like, but firedoglake, huffypost, and the like are not reliable sources of anything but the brand of prevarication you peddle here.
Now, if you had simply said, "the FRC supports anti-sodomy laws," my first response would have been "eww" followed by, "well, duh."
Godwin's Law still applies.
This whole flap is ample evidence as to why the Personhood movement is burgeoning!
Legal protection for every baby in the womb from the beginning of biological development is at hand.
Over 40 states are saying no to abortion and no to the National RTL and the pro-life industry's strategy of regulating baby killing.
Tell your parents and then you can kill the baby; wait 48 hours and then you can kill; have an
ultrasound and then . . .
Personhood Now!

It is only the same if they attempted to purchase an ad this year. Companies are allowed to change their rules of business. They changed their standards for commercials to make some money. As far as I know they didn't try to purchase an ad this year. And if they did they should publish that fact because that gives the people against this commercial some ground to work with. Bringing up something 4 years ago though just doesn't do it for me.
And you can disagree with the man behind the commercial all you want, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't have the right to express his opinion in a legal manner, which it seems he has done by funding this commercial. I might not like a commercial that was against something I believed in or for something that I was not but I would not deny the right of that company/person from putting it on the air as long as it was legal. There are plenty of commercials out there that I hate but I don't feel the need to write complaints about all of them.
i could care less about the superbowl and its "macho" image, so what, is it now "macho" to want to sire babies??
SHAME! too little, too late! Any civilization that so desires to wipe itself out by dumping its unborn in the garbage–, i'm sorry, but YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY OUT! There is still no place for lone women who somehow "got themselves pregnant" to go to have a baby, and less suport if you want to keep it, yes, i know, so many people are willing to take your baby BUT NOT TO SUPPORT YOU IF YOU WANT TO KEEP IT! Hippocrits!
You're right on, rckmom.
Once again, the Allred-feminists are "pro-choice", unless someone chooses life. Crazy stuff.
Jenna,
Not to mention Allred is not even honest about abortion being banned even in the case of mother's life in danger. Or her implying that since the law is restrictively, it must be such a deterrent to folks there, while not telling us abortion violations are RARELY prosecuted.
Idiotic claims since I am part of the Christian right and I am a minority. And your posts, as others point out, utterly misrepresent our beliefs on different things.
"Let’s face it. The younger generations are turning against abortion in droves. As living, breathing survivors of Roe, they realize more than their elders ever could, that but for the grace of God and a good mother, they themselves would have been the medical waste. "
and there we have it. 'but for the grace of god." I respect your right to make personal decisions through the prism of religion, just don't force your religious beliefs on me. What upsets me as a pro-choice individual is that this issue (one of personal conscience/judgement) is conflated by so many with religion and worse, they try to use that to justify everything from being anti-choice to dispensing with sex ed (gee, did it ever occur to any of these people that there would be a natural drop in unwanted pregnancies if todays kids actually knew something about condoms). I don't relish the thought of living in a theocracy, so limit your decision making framework to yourself. Also, if you DON'T have ovaries and a uterus, don't even talk to me about this issue, because at the end of the day you aren't even a passenger on the bus. When you can carry a baby to term then you can pour your heart out to me about your convictions on this issue!
If that's your attitude, then guess what? If you get pregnant and the guy does not want the baby, and you do, and he walks, then don't go after him legally. After all it's just your body, and you can do whatever you want with your baby, which you call your body, including killing him or her. So if the guy don't have a say in regards to what happen to the child he helps bring into the world, and have no rights, then guess what? Be consistent and don't demand responsibility from him.
Pro-abortionists who want it both ways are such hypocrites there.
You tell us if we impose what we see as murder, it's forcing our religious beliefs on you. Guess what? Your sex ed views are imposing your brand of morality on us. More double standards from you.
If abolitionists, who were mainly evangelicals, think like you, they would have let the slaveowners have their choice to own slaves or not, and not push their morals on the slaveowners.
Sounds like prochoicers borrow all the talking points of the pro-slavery folks in the early to mid-1800s!
As a pro-lifer, I have to say, Huh?
Great info! I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don
colasguy, the Alan Guttmacher Institute is their stat lobby.
Not for the first time, she wondered what it was and why it was there. Nialdlye suckled her nipple as she yanked the ties that held the blouse closed. You dont need help. But she knew firsthand that knowing and seeing it happen were two very different things. She felt the soothing fingers of a sleep spell seep into her mind. When theyd arrived, the rock before her had been solid and smooth. Suddenly shy, Eyrhaen stared at the crimson and midnight pattern in the rug. With his second shout, she released both his pleasure and the spell. It took a few moments. This felt right, and she was here cutting out her soul anyway. Let me go, you oaf. Brevin sat on the side of the bed, leaning casually on one arm. Would you let me go? Should I take that as a yes? Relief put a smile on Brevins face. She draped over Brevin, amazed anew by the sheer size of him. She had questions she needed answered before she could do what she wanted to do. I never thought Id be allowed to raise children when I was with Aletone. Her race was born to breed. Radin, please, she rasped, pushing into him, unable to get close enough.
