The most infuriating thing about our mainstream media is the utter ignorance of their so-called “journalists.” When little miss anchorwoman, Katie Couric, interviewed the president last Sunday on his sudden, desperate invitation to Republicans for ideas on healthcare reform, he told her this:
I want to look at the Republican ideas that are out there. And I want to be very specific. ‘How do you guys want to lower costs? How do you guys intend to reform the insurance markets so people with preexisting conditions, for example, can get health care?’
Ms. Couric was so ignorant of the past year-long healthcare debacle that she offered no challenge whatsoever to this latest whopper by President Obama. If she had known the issues — which is the job for which she is supposedly paid $14 million a year, or $300,000 per week — then she would have immediately challenged the president with the fact that very specific ideas from Republicans have been on the table – in writing – since early last summer.
Over and over again, the president and his “people” go unchallenged on every whopper they tell. Either our MSM is a bunch of ignorant boobs, or they are, once again, indulging their penchant for left-wing ideology. Whatever the case, their coverage of the president on his healthcare-reform shenanigans has been nothing short of disgraceful.
Doing the job, our MSM refuses to do – for whatever reason — here is the other half of the story on healthcare reform efforts:
Now that President Obama’s political capital has been squandered in months-long hubris sessions, his approval rating has dropped to 44% in record time and the entire country is more polarized than ever, the president has decided to consult with the Republicans on healthcare reform.
In the wake of Scott Brown’s election in Massachusetts, the president seems willing, at least temporarily, to keep his petulant “I won” mantra in silent mode. Waiting for the voters to put a man and his party between a rock and hard place, before he’s willing to listen to any idea that doesn’t bear the union label, is evidently Barack Obama’s unique definition of “transparent bipartisanship.” Obama’s stated willingness to bring in the TV cameras, after months of obfuscation and back-tracking on that promise, is at best sketchy. But we’ll see.
As to the Republican ideas on healthcare reform, they’ve been there all along. Right up there in the same capitol building, where the Democrats were holding their closed-door, shutout meetings, doing their wheeling and corrupt dealmaking, the Republicans put together three much more succinct, much more promising, much more cost-cutting and much less power-grabbing, genuine healthcare reform bills.
When Obama and his minions in the MSM drone on about Republican obstruction, without ever even acknowledging that Republicans were entirely, arrogantly, from day-one, shut out of the entire legislative process, it’s enough to make a knowledgeable person reach for the Pepto Bismol.

For the record, the Republicans in congress have introduced three separate bills for healthcare reform.
- In May, Republicans in the House and the Senate formed a bicameral coalition to produce the130-page “Patients Choice Act of 2009.”
- In June, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) introduced the “Health Care Freedom Plan,” a 41-page proposal.
- And in July, the Republican Study Committee, under the leadership of Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), unveiled the “Empowering Patients First Act,” a 130-page plan.
Please note that all three of these bills, each aimed at reducing healthcare expenditures for middle-class Americans and expanding coverage to a large swath of the uninsured, have been on the table since last summer. Last summer, when arrogant Democrats were met with angry crowds at their local townhalls, these Republican proposals were all on the table already.
What were the major differences between the Republican proposals and the one Democrats were doing all they could to ram through without a shred of bipartisan support?
The differences were in the price-tag and who would have the power over an individual’s healthcare decisions.
- Democrat proposals: humongous price-tag with federal government controlling everything for everyone.
- Republican proposals: either budget-neutral or low-cost with individual patients retaining control over their own healthcare decisions.
The people made their voices heard in massive protests across the country all summer and into the fall. Still, Democrats ignored them and pressed on.
The president did one choreographed “townhall” after another, rolling up his sleeves and shooting the breeze on healthcare reform with carefully planted questioners And the president gave the same recycled speech on the evils and greed of the insurance companies, the in-it-for-profit-only doctors, extolling along the way, the lovely benefits of the red pain pill over the expensive new pharma life-saver, and on and on, piling more lying hubris on top of the last. He did a super Sunday of five separate TV interviews, hawking the glories of his brilliant-beyond-brilliant healthcare coup. America had never seen such presidential showmanship, turned to petulance, turned now to a suspicious, “I’m listening…”
So, with more problems that a single man working in his own office 24/7 could possibly solve — two wars, hundreds of thousands of brave young Americans in harms way, an economy still on the brink, unemployment numbers horribly dismal and China breathing down our necks with creditors’ angst, not to mention the Iranians, the Gitmo fiasco, the terror trials at home – with all that and more – this president decides to push on with his own pet domestic project, all the while still making the TV rounds and giving the speeches and throwing the White House soirees and keeping track of basketball.
And he’s now willing to meet with Republicans to hear their ideas after they’ve been sitting in congress with everything on paper for more than seven whole months.
My advice to Republicans: Just say, “No.”

Anyone who has watched this boiled-egg ideologue in action as a president for a year ought to know before a single word gets said that there is nothing whatsoever to be gained from trusting a man who has proven himself untrustworthy. They also ought to know that “compromise” is a word for which this president has a whole alternate-universe definition. They also ought to be well aware, from watching Tea Parties all year, that the electorate is angry and simply will not tolerate another federal power grab with a huge price tag, no matter what concessions are made to get a show of bipartisan support.
There are two absolutely necessary ingredients to any healthcare reform, if any of the costs are to be brought down to an acceptable level:
- Tort reform. Get the trial lawyers out of our operating rooms.
- A federal reform act that allows insurance to be purchased across state lines and allows individuals to join private co-ops for insurance purchase.
If the Democrats agreed to those reforms, they wouldn’t be Democrats. They’re in hock to the trial lawyers; heck, a lot of them are trial lawyers. And the whole object of healthcare reform, in Democrats’ eyes, was not to bring down cost but to centralize control in the hands of the federal government.
If Republicans want to agree to a sit-down with the president, fine and dandy. I just hope they mind their p’s and q’s and take every word this president says with a shaker full of salt. Otherwise, their own names will be on the incumbent out-of-work list before this year ends.
The American public has made its opinion clear. They’ve spoken it loudly in protest after protest all across this country. Just changing a few dotted i’s or crossed t’s is not going to square well with an electorate suddenly wide awake. I’m fairly certain every incumbent can take that bit of advice to the bank.
The American electorate is a very tolerant bunch, but this year, they’ve had enough. And wise men and women will take heed of their message.

Is anyone surprised that Couric did not ask a tough question. She saves the gotcha questions for people like Palin. The press has had a "Slobbering Love Affair" (Goldberg) with this president from day one. They have dropped the ball so many times the game was over long ago. They have become irrevelant to the national debate: it is happening other places. Who watches them anymore? Anyone with cable is on Fox.

The shocking part of this whole positioning by the liberal media is they still aren't getting it. The Republicans are the only part of the government representing the 60,000,000 plus voters who are against the government involvement in the worlds greatest healthcare system in the world, thus receiving increased support. The correct position of this story should be "After 14 months in office the Obama Administration is finally listensing to the majority of voting Americans with regard to health care." The only remaining question is what will he do with the information he receives, or maybe will Nancy and Harry allow Obama to tamper with their back room Health Care package? My guess is that it is just more political posturing driven by polling groups. Sorry Obama there is a new media out there that is smarting than your govenment media.
It's never good minion etiquette to make the boss look bad with questions he doesn't know the answers to. Wouldn't want to make him mad and risk losing their job.
Like Chris Matthews said, "I got a tingling feeling up my leg". Obama should add softball to his list of sports, with all the softball questions that get tossed his way.
I sometimes feel that we (fortunate people having access to cable and network) fail to recognize the number of people still relying on paper and over-the-air information. As long as they keep the information on those outlet to be in sync, people will believe what they preach.
"Ms. Couric was so ignorant of the past year-long healthcare debacle that she offered no challenge"……
Well, that just summed up an excellent article. Ignorance is bliss, and Katie is sure a Happy Camper……..
Thank you Ms. Shiver! I have been waiting months for an article like this to come out. I have been following this health care debacle as much as time will allow for months. I can't tell you how many articles I have read that follow with comments from the readers that stated thing like: what are you rebublicans complaining about. Your party has offered nothing!!
I would get so frustrated as I knew this was completely untrue. These leftists were doing the same thing they always do. Following the MSM with no regard for the truth. Republicans had several bills on the table that were being completely ignored by our president and Congress and the MSM. Heck, these bills were so ignored that I couldn't even find news of them much beyond the website of the politician pushing the bill.
It is finally time to scrap this health care bill for good and get back to free market pricipals. My doctor even said the same thing when I asked him about it. He said this, more than anything else, would drive down costs of care and increase quality of care.
And by the way, what is wrong with a doctor making a good profit. If he is good at what he does and therefore has several patients because of this, shouldn't he get paid alot? It's not like one can find a good dostor on every street corner.
When the CFL* President hold his health summit later this month, the Republicans should show up wearing Kilts [think Braveheart]
During this summit they should stated their objection to a single payer / government option, listen attentively, submit their ideas, nod approvingly or disapprovingly, get up shake hands, and leave. On the way out, en-mass, they should turn, drop trousers, bend over, and request that BHO kindly kiss their collective asses.
*Compact Fluorescent Blub – Kinda dim, "saves energy", and creates a toxic environment (releases mercury) if broke.
The Media is dead.
Long live the new alternative media!
Katie is just doing what she's paid to do. She's part of the obamasoros monster. Wake up America!!!
There's absolutely no doubt this is nothing but PR scam for the president. There's no way in hell he'd have suggested, nor would his handlers approved of it, if they didn't think they were going to come out on top.
The media will be there, they'll flood the evening news with images of the caring, cerebral, compassionate, intellectual President as he is forced to deal with knuckle dragging, mouth breathing red neck, gun loving, hillbillies.
And when its all over, they'll dutifully report that Obama, by gosh, really, really tried (roll tape) but the republicans have no plan, refuse to compromise, and are still having trouble figuring out how in-door plumbing works (roll tape). So the dems had no choice but to break congressional tradition and ram it through, because, after all – it's for the children.
I think its a little more basic than that. I get the feeling the MSM has decided to place all their eggs in one basket hoping that as long as Obama is popular (note to CBS, check with Rasmussen), they'll stench the flow of bleeding ratings long enough to at least collect a pension.
Ain't gonna work.
The really horrific part of this story is that Katie gets paid….wait for it……$300,000 a WEEK to come in dead last in the ratings. She also gets a bonus every time she is featured on 60 mins. No kidding. If those EVIL CEO's and hedge fund managers were horrible at what they do, my guess is they would get fired. Yet CBS keeps Katie on the air.
the essay is written as though MSM has a choice…..they are who they are because of what they are….congenital deafness is an automatic by product of socialism…..they don't govern, they dictate……journalism requires aesthetic distance every bit as much as literature. But journalists are all writing a personal version of truth because their college profs told them that objectivity does not exist. Of, using a stringent definition of anything requires that nothing exists, which means anything exists and therefore any form of govt is as good as another, as long as you are writing the plot. Socialists write all the plots…..educational, social, governmental, religious, …..the weather, the bcs, dietary……HE THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN ALL BOWN AND ADORE……..OBAMA CHAVEZ PUTIN CASTRO IMADINNERJACKET ALL THE SAME GUY……
The same effetes that hate Sarah Palin loved John Edwards. Go figure.
Katie Couric actually makes me physically nauseous and vomit in my mouth. Not cute, not smart, not believable.
The same effete idiots that hate Sarah Palin loved John Edwards. Go figure.
Hey CL!
People (including Couric) forget that only 18 months ago we used the term "Do Nothing Congress" to describe Pelosi and Reid's Palace on the Hill. As soon as the MSM had the new "Party of No" term they ran with it and the "Do Nothing Congress" term disappeared faster than a Dem seat on Nov. 2nd.
They CHOOSE to be ignorant…and think we forget, Why would any Republican health care reform ideas ever be published by these lemmings?
Hey! Today is Marco Rubio's MONEYBOMB DAY!
It's the 1-year anniversary of the infamous "Stimulus Hug" that our Florida RINO, Charlie Crist put-on Obamao.
Please, please find a minute to help a true Tea Party conservative in FL!
I'm unemployed, but still dug-up a few bucks. Do what you can, please?

James Taranto seems to have the best analysis I've come across so far on the so-called bi-partisan health care summit.
Follow the link and read the whole thing. Note, link only good till Thursday afternoon.
http://online.wsj.com/article/best_of_the_web_tod...
More modestly, one might regard it as the "beer summit" writ large. When Obama criticized the Cambridge, Mass., police for having "acted stupidly" in arresting his friend Skip Gates, that was the first time as president that he found himself clearly on the wrong side of public opinion. The White House meeting help defuse that situation. The bipartisan health-care summit, especially if it is followed by no legislative action, could have a similar effect.
WHERE WE ARE IN 10 QUESTIONS.
Q 1: Why is an unqualified community organizer in Our White House?
A: Because he got elected.
Q 2: How did he get elected?
A: Because Public Opinion was in his favor
Q 3: Did people know much about the Candidate?
A: NO. They only heard about HOPE and CHANGE.
Q 4: So, Who made him popular so that people blindly voted for him?
A: The Media did.
Q 5: How?
A: They acted as if they were Obama’s PR Campaign office. They never investigated his radical agenda, and they persecuted the opposite party.
Q 6: Why?
A: Because the ‘journalists’ and their employers leaned Left, dropped any fairness and invested their all in Obama.
Q 7: So, Who really won the elections?
A; The Media did.
Q 8: Will the Media ever ask Obama a relevant question?
A: NO.
Q 9: Why?
A: Because Obama is their product. They invested in him.
Q 10: So, Can you expect the truth from the Media?
A: Honestly, NO. They serve Obama.
I agree, EdSki. I think the Repubs need to get out and do media blitzes showing the three plans mentioned well before their sit-down with the Liar-in-Chief. Show the American people they have a better, less costly plan that does meet the requirements Obama wants, otherwise, this show will back fire on them. If they don't go, they get hammered. If they do go, they get set-up. They lose both ways. It's a trap. But, if they get the word out that they have a plan, and have had plans, but the dems in both houses refused to allow them to come forward, that may just work against these lying liberals.
Maybe, but I think it's more than that. I think they, the MSM and the owners' of MSM outlets, are bleeding-heart liberals with a cause. They castigated Bush at every turn, and give our current pres and vp passes for the same or worse mistakes. They are clearly in the liberal camp and have been for decades. News isn't unbiased anymore. Thank goodness for outlets like Fox and conservative talk radio.
Exactly right, zteano! Good comment.
They need a plan to deal with the trap? Then how about this…..
Go to the summit, all of them show up (or at least most of them), have copies of all their proposed legislation, enough copies so every official member of the White House staff gets three – just to be sure they've all had the opportunity to see it – and then tell the President they have copies for all democratic and independent members of congress too, could he do something about getting these documents into their hands, because they can't seem to do it.
Any body have connections to the GO caucus in Washington?
Good point, Pro. My wife went to a doctor for the first time many years ago. He treated her like crap. She never went back to him. Doctors can't make money without patients. Supply and demand. Also, while not all doctors may do this, I know that many often perform their services free/reduced rate for indigent patients.
Patriots you better keep your eyes and ears on Washington DUhC, because the "Great Screwjob '10" is about to go down in Goofyland. The Prezbo is in so far over head, let him drown in it. However, the Republicans who are about an arms length "right" of the Liberal Democrats are just chomping at the bit to appear "leaderly" in solving this crisis. Mind you, until B. Hussein reared his ugly big-eared self, there was no crisis.
Keep the pressure up. There can be no comprise on Principles. The Democrats have none, they only want to retain power. Dismiss them, keep presenting the ideas and the facts and they will fail. They have a proven track record of failure.
Let the Dummycrat in Chief hang on the rope he braided. It's only a matter of time.
I understand and agree, these guys are the most hard core modern liberals, second to only politicians.
But here's what the problem with that analysis is: economics. It's been said the problem with socialism is you run out of other people's money. And even the die hards can't help but see other people's money (read customers) is running out. So why keep it up.
I've known hard core, bleeding hart liberals my whole life, heck, used to be one. But when it comes to their own money, they are as miserly and greedy as they come. The ones who demand every one else pay more usually are.
It's also why FOX is kicking major butt. Murdoch is interested in money, so he gives the free market what it wants, a heck of a lot more news than what the MSM is spitting out.
I'm convinced at some point economics has to come in to play, and when that day becomes inevitable, man it's going to be interesting to watch.
There goes another keyboard and cup of coffee!
EdSki, thanks for the link. Just finished reading it. Taranto finished the article well with: "Far be it from us to object to opinion journalism, but the AP's change in direction is a loss, because the wire service once was the gold standard in simple, factual, unbiased reporting. As long as Waldman is looking into the future of the media, maybe he should examine the decline of factual journalism while he's at it."
This is something that's been needing serious investigation for a very long time. I guess we will see.
They should not meet with him at all until he adopts and pushes one of their ideas as his own. Otherwise, he just gets to claim bipartisanship for his bill; when we are all spitting mad about the process and the bill.
No connections but I do have a copy machine and kicking out copies of Republican proposals would save more trees than the Dumbocrats' proposals would.
Exactly. Keep the pressure up, they have more tricks up their sleeve and we have to prevent this HCB or anything like it from becoming law; the people of this country do not want it. And we are getting tired of being told what to do by a bunch of professional politicians.
Assuming you are using preceding answers as proof to justify following questions, you have a logical fallacy between 2 & 3.
A: Because Public Opinion was in his favor</> is not evidence for Q 3: Did people know much about the Candidate?
Not disagreeing with your premise, only that despite the MSM's assertion of their mandate to inform the people, the ultimate responsibility for electing leaders sits squarely in We The People's lap.
There is no way of denying that H.L. Mencken was right – Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.
Sorry guy, and ot avoid potential lawsuits, perhaps I should place a disclamer just ahead of the zinger: WARNING: the following sentiment may behazardous to persons and things, if read while drinking coffee or other beverage, and that any such item should be placed out of harms way.
This article badly needed to be written and I see no room for improvement. Fabulous job! Needless to say, my blog will link to it Thursday.
Kyle Anne, you wrote an article in October of the election year to which I responded and over the past year and several months, nothing has changed. We aren't going to get any real "journalism" out of the entrenched media. They are shills, nothing more.
In fact, worse than shills. They bury key facts and keep them hidden from view.
They obscure the truth and operate as a protective flank for the administration. They are crooked referees, in a rigged game. They don't serve the American public, they serve an ideological message. Republicans, independents and moderates better understand how to get the truth out through the alternative media, because the entrenched media is wearing an opponent's uniform.
This shallow interview was most certainly orchestrated well in advance of the interview. In other words it was propaganda and nothing more. My disdain for the left and what they stand for grows more and more every day.
Even when Clinton was selling us out to china and whomever stuffed his pockets I did not resent my fellow americans. Today I distrust and quite frankly hate them as much as some of our enemies. The left hates everything I stand for so why the hell should I care whether they rot by the side of ther road.
Wow what a sad article… I agree better questions could have been asked but the writers understanding of the Democrats bill and the GOP bill seems to be totally lacking at best… Pandering to the right wing and not adding any information at worst.
If anyone cares for some balanced information on the healthcare debate go to http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2...
but based on the comments i have seen so far i doubt anyone will actual go check the site out.
Rest assured, you'll get no frivolous lawsuits from me.
How ever, if you fail to reach that comic bar you've set for yourself next time, you will get a heckle.
I disagree. I'm not convinced that Couric was ignorant of the facts. It is quite possible that she deliberately chose to ignore them to advance her own partisan cause. After all, she is a journalist.
Interesting twist.
If she is simply an ignorant twit, that is excusable.
If she deliberately chose to mislead or ignore, then that flys in the face of all journalistic principles. She is therefore complicit………….
Easy friends, we've a way to go
Keep your eyes on the enemy
Gather strength, prepare for battle
Skirmishers to their flanks, give them no rest
Hold up for now, keep your powder dry
Herd the enemy toward their doom
When the fear is in their eyes, show them no mercy
On November 2nd you will know it is time
Ready… Aim…
KA: A story waiting to be adequately told. The sorry state of our MSM is almost beyond discussion. There is nothing to discuss. It’s like a person who is terminal, that is, on life support and it is only a matter of time. What is left to talk about. Remember the good times?
Your selection of Katie Commie, oops, Couric is particularly noteworthy. She has certainly squandered any kudos received from many of her followers for the hatchet job she did on Sarah Palin.
The remainder of the MSM from Olbermann to Stephanopolous continue to wag their tongues at a disappearing audience. One only needs to look at the viewership numbers between Fox News and all of the rest of the Cables combined. No contest.
Now as far as that “Bipartisan” Health Care meeting to be hosted by “The O” I can only hope that the Republicans are prepared to just walk out. Every time this president has had an opportunity to address Republicans he has gone into his I’m the Professor mode. I am here to instruct you naughty and uninformed children so pay attention. This accompanied by his lifted chin pose so like the old pictures of Mussolini when speaking. Should he do this they should just en mass walk out.
Secondly, If the “Bipartisanship” card is played and McCain tries to bite McConnell or Boehner or ? needs to quickly stick their foot in his mouth and get him out of there. By this time we should know exactly what this President means by Bipartisanship. “You guys bend over and grab your ankles”
Right now the ball is in our court. Whatever we do protect it.
Great Column Kyle-Anne

I went to this site and read this article, if you believe this your a fool.
I have visited politifact recently – and it sees the world through Liberal glasses. Too many of its articles leave out history/facts in order to make a point that is not credible – which is reason enough to seldom visit, like DU, KOS, Huff, etc.
Your first and third links to the Republican "legislation" do not work. The “Health Care Freedom Plan” links to the bill that provides an insufficient tax cut that like the Republican Medicare Part D is added to my grandkids' credit card.
Seriously…….$300,000 a week. At this point I sort of figured the entire CBS network would be on minimum wage. I think the obvious answer to our nations health care problems are for Mr. Obama to have Katie Couric pay for everybody's insurance premiums. It should fit right in with that wealth redistribution scheme he loves so much.
Ms. Shiver..I've followed you from Hot Air to here. Good job. You and I share so many of the same ideas. You just put them on paper and I feel validated. Your doing a great job. I thought I'd mention I just cancelled my T.V cable. So long Glen Beck and Bill O. I love those two but cannot justify spending a ton of money and watching one or two channels. I will miss Survivor. Perhaps I'm just doing what the President suggested and turn off my T.V and talk to my neighbors. Their feed up too! Hmmm what to do? Your a great voice and a champion of me "the little tea bagging" soccor mom who is trying to live within my means and raise God fearing citizens who still believe in the founding fathers and the flag! Keep up the good work. I wish you great success. Keep me posted about survivor and idol.
just so you know, in addition to "mainstream media" the acronym MSM means "males who have sex with males" it's a medical term to refer to people of all sexual orientations that have sex with men, and your news story came up on Google News, so it may be getting more hits then is usual. i don't know what you guys are dong in this area of the blogosphere, but be careful with acronyms or you may get unwanted attention.
"Our MSM is a bunch of ignorant boobs…"
WELL, F**KIN' AYE, THEY ARE. KATTY COURIC IS 2 OF THOSE BOOBS.
(And everyone knows that Kitty Katty only gets that $14 mil for the rather mediocre rack she so lasciviously loves to wave around. It sure as hell ain't for her intellect, silly two-watter dimbulb bimbo.)
'Colonic Katy' won't do anything to jeopardize her income. Besides, this is not about healthcare, it's about taxation to pay for the soon-to-be broke entitlements already on the books. People will have to learn to take care of themselves or suffer the consequences. Deal with it.
Barry-O with his gleaming goitrous eye and visage of pulled pork is trustworthy as a cottonmouth. He viscerally hates America, and is on record as despising the country's "white suburban middle-class" (his words). Bankrupting small business, sabotaging national defense, subverting the nation's energy economy– you name it, this incompetent and execrably corrupt anti-Semite, Black Supremacist quota-baby, is a nihilistic Luddite sociopath to his dank closet-Muslim core.
As ranting collectivist Statists, Banana's D-rat acolytes are strangely apolitical. To atavistic reactionaries of this ilk (call 'em ATRs), only power matters. Such dumpster-divers care nothing for compromise, productive give-and-take, legislation drafted in accord with Constitutional principle to their constituents' advantage. Quite obviously, they hold common people, voters, in contempt, and will go to any lengths to impose hyper-partisan excrescences regardless of the public interest.
We think of Reid/Pelosi-crats with their Corpse Man in Chief as kin to Jersey City's 1936 Frank Hague and New York's ineffable William Marcy Tweed: "I am the law," said Hague, echoing Boss Tweed's challenge, "What are you going to do about it?" Maybe this November O'Dumbo and his merry band of Maoist pedophiles will have the answer.
Great, great article Kyle-Anne! You laid it out so clearly and concisely even a liberal could understand it! (assuming they would be willing to open their minds to consider it – as if!)
I am very skeptical of Obama's invitation to meet with the Republicans and hope they are very well prepared.
It's a shame the Republicans didn't have the courage to just say NO to everything. Instead they offer their own Dem-lite, half baked plans. A resounding NO backed with with a well reasoned and easly stated reasons why is what most people want.
Obama wants, "Electronic health records', a chip in every body and government control over all!!!!1
The only crisis we have going on with our health care system is the unfunded entitlement programs the Democrats first made, then spent all the money the collected, and now are looking for another way to pay for it. The only way out for them is to control the whole thing. These idiots can't balance their personal check books much less take care of the national budget. You can't keep promising people services that aren't paid for. When your spending outpaces your income, that is a very serious problem.
What is the difference between a liberal and a conservative? Well a liberal gets to keep her job after slapping a co-worker in the face. A conservative would be fired. The offending liberal would then go on and be given the opportunity to interview the President of the United States.

Kyle-Anne is just the best! Although we've had countless examples of pitiful reporting by members of the MSM, most of us know what they're doing. While Obama and his bunch have had no interest in considering Republican ideas, Katie and other alleged journalists have had no interest in reporting that lack of interest. Kyle-Anne has been on this and other issues for some time now; continuing to do what Couric is unwilling to do. We are in her debt.
You know what they're also ignoring?
PRESIDENT OBAMA'S FIRST UNDENIABLE POLICY SUCCESS
http://naturalfake.wordpress.com/2010/02/10/presi...
The health car bill is really a side issue. The big issue is this: Corporations, with the help of the bought and paid for
congressmen have moved jobs overseas. In addition they have brought in foreign low paid workers to keep wages low.
Add to that the increased use of mechanization and more efficiency and there are not enough jobs for the present unemployed to say nothing of the new young people graduating and looking for jobs.In addition, we will have veterans
returning looking for jobs. THERE ARE NOT NOW NOR WILL THERE EVER BE ENOUGH JOBS FOR THEM. So who is going to be paying the taxes to pay our deficit and who will pay the taxes necessary to cover future unemployment, welfare, and medicare? We can look forward to U.S. going bankrupt, becoming a third world country, and perhaps a revolution when people finally get that desperate. Stop being an ostrich. Face the facts.
There is no reason to visit some other site when you cannot make a valid critique of the article you supposedly read. Tell us what the writer missed — or can you? I don't want "balanced information" (whatever that is). I want truth. The truth is that saying "Republicans have offered no alternatives" is A LIE. Tell you what. When you stop LYING ABOUT THE ISSUE, I'll visit your site.
You're kind of late to the party, ain't ya? MSM has been an abbreviation used to describe the press for probably a decade now, if not longer.
No, health care is not a "side issue". It strikes at the very nerve center of freedom; if the government controls your health, then government controls who lives and who dies. Working is of secondary importance in that light.
And as for corporations moving jobs overseas — they are driven overseas by the strangulating net of regulation and taxation. The US has one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world. So before you start complaining about corporations, but yourselves in the shoes of a CEO. If YOUR livelihood was being threatened, wouldn't you move, too?
I'm all for doctors making a good living. I have no desire to go to a crappy doctor. Every doctor I go to blows me away with how on the ball they are, they probably makes a good salary and should as far as I'm concerned. The fact that government health care is going to equal over worked and underpaid, thus worse doctors scares me to death.
Maybe we should all spontaneously shift to LSM= Lame Stream Media? Or DMWM= Dead Man Walking Media (Pinch Sulzberger- call yer accountant).
Finally! The word is out! Let's hope the Republicans will defend themselves as valiantly as you have on their behalf! Thanks. Great writing again KA!
Be careful who we ask for, after all we do not truly know either Brown or Rubio. Let us give them some time to prove themself first.GO TRUE CONSERVITIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well – since everyone here is doing the Obama bash, I guess I’ll be the one to do the Republican bash. Obama looked at all of the Republicans healthcare proposals. And in case you didn’t know it, he did take things from them and put them in the bill. Problem is, if the Republicans don’t get everything they want, they won’t vote for any of it. The same thing happened with the stimulus. Why should Obama put a bunch of stupid ideas in the bills? We can see what they are – they’re give-aways. The Republicans are putting their friends pockets over the country. Like with Tort reform. I can see clamping down on Ambulance chasers, but only a moron would take away our right to compensation when some Hack Doctor screws up leaving you hurt. That’s not the way you lower costs. Not that it would lower costs, anyway. It’s funny how the Republicans think our compensation is to high. The Lawyers cut is to high. But when it comes to their CEO pals with their 30 million a year bonus, it’s totally justified. Why aren’t they kicking something back to lower costs? On the stimulus they’re fighting for their rich friends, also. They know across the board tax cuts won’t create jobs. It will sink us further in debt, though. The rich don’t need tax cuts. Those multi-national companies don’t need tax cuts. Just take a look at their earnings. Even the banks are handing out million dollar bonuses. Money is not the reason they’re not hiring. With so many people out of work there’s no demand. Don’t get me wrong, it would be great to give everybody tax cuts. But not while the country is in the shape it’s in now. Obama’s right to put the money and tax cuts only where needed. What the Republicans want is just another give-away. And they know it. It’s like Obama said, you put up GOOD ideas and they’ll be adopted.
katie couric is part of the liberal msm so how could anyone think she would question anything obama said.if anyone still believes the msm will report any negatives on obama you are dreaming.the msm only reports liberal slants and ignores any negatives on other liberals.do you see them reporting on corrupt charles rangel?the msm has become a liberal news machine that ignores telling of public opinion and distorts facts for the left..
couric is part of the msm so did people really think she would challenge obama with pertinent questions?the msm is no longer a news media but a liberal media that only tells of positives on obama.senator rangel is corrupt but they wont report on him.msm only reports news they want you to hear.they believe if they dont report it we are too stupid to know anything else.
The RNC has been nearly useless in stopping the take over of healthcare.
