Well, the bad news is that we’re a bunch of racists. The good news, though, is that our liberal overlords are understanding. Due to their boundless capacity for empathy, they understand that we just can’t help the inherent bigotry that characterizes us. But with a little firmness and a good talking to, they’ll set us back on the progressive path.
At least, that seems to be the strategy du jour for the left and their mainstream media meat puppets. Apparently realizing that their cacophonous chorus of innuendos and outright epithets excoriating the wayward bourgeoisie for its myriad sins was not having the desired effect – astonishingly, the know-nothings who make up the bulk of American society actually found being called “racists,” “sexists,” “homophobes,” “Islamaphobes” and all manner of other “-ists” and “-phobes” annoying. With the polls tanking, it was time to try a new approach.
That new approach rolled out Sunday as columnists Nick Kristoff and Cynthia Tucker tried out the new, kinder/gentler scold mode. Kristoff’s New York Times piece, delightfully titled “America’s History of Fear,” generously allows that maybe – just maybe – a virulent hatred of Muslims is not the only reason one might oppose the Ground Zero mosque. No, he doesn’t quite say that perhaps some people might find a terrorist apologist putting up a mosque on the site of where other Muslins, acting explicitly as Muslims, murdered nearly 3,000 folks to be, at best, unbelievably tacky and insensitive. Instead, those expressing feelings are “worriers” acting out because of their irrational fears:
A radio interviewer asked me the other day if I thought bigotry was the only reason why someone might oppose the Islamic center in Lower Manhattan. No, I don’t. Most of the opponents aren’t bigots but well-meaning worriers — and during earlier waves of intolerance in American history, it was just the same.
Screeds against Catholics from the 19th century sounded just like the invective today against the Not-at-Ground-Zero Mosque. The starting point isn’t hatred but fear: an alarm among patriots that newcomers don’t share their values, don’t believe in democracy, and may harm innocent Americans.
Now, a journalist without an agenda – or, in fact, anyone who has been awake for the last nine years – might point out a few inconvenient truths. In fact, many of these “newcomers” expressly admit to not sharing our values – sharia is not an American value. And their verbal footsie with Hamas is not exactly indicative of a love for democracy. And the fear that they “may harm innocent Americans” is a pretty reasonable concern, in light of their proven track record of harming innocent Americans.
Clearly just as disappointed as Mayor Bloomberg must have been to find that the clown who planted the Times Square car bomb was not some wayward Tea Partier incensed by health care reform, Kristoff just ignores the brutal fact that the guy was another committed jihadi. Like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Kristoff waves his rhetorical fingertips and whispers to his readers that, “These aren’t the terrorists you are looking for.”
Cynthia Tucker of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution knows the score too. Are the American people upset because of massive deficit spending that bankrupts our children to pay off government bureaucrats and Democratic constituencies? Of course not. In her column “Discontent is Backlash to the Browning of America,” she puts her finger on the real concern motivating voters this fall:
This is a tempestuous and irrational time, an era of economic gloom, eroding living standards and deep fears about the future. But economic uncertainty alone cannot account for this summer’s strange currents. The runaway inflation and deep recession of the late ‘70s/early ‘80s didn’t produce a similar season of civic craziness.
Our long, hot summer needed another ingredient to induce a fever-like madness in the national psyche: demographic change. Over the last year and a half, many Americans have begun to see a deeper message in President Obama’s inauguration — the end of the white majority. For some, especially those who are middle-aged and older, it’s a jarring and unwelcome message.
Yeah, I was just saying the same thing to my hot American-Cuban wife – thinking about how them for’ners has got me all riled up, by cracky. Yeah, Cynthia, focusing my rage on long-term demographic trends sure takes my mind off the prison-shower treatment liberal policies have given my retirement accounts.
But Cynthia wants to make sure that you know that just because she is calling you a racist doesn’t mean that she thinks you’re a racist, though you most certainly are a racist:
Before you assume that I’m stereotyping all of the president’s critics as racists, let me be clear: I’m not. Many voters have legitimate criticisms of the Obama’s policies. I’ m talking about something more subtle and yet more profound: a fear of minority status. (Actually, by the year 2050, demographers expect that whites will be a “plurality,” the largest easily- identified ethnic group.)
Most human beings are more comfortable surrounded by others who look and sound as they do. It’s innate. That’s why most of us attend churches, join clubs and look for friends who reinforce our sense of identity, usually along lines of color and class. Successful black and brown professionals have had to learn to be comfortable in a sea of white faces, but most white Americans have not experienced the reverse. And many are not eager to have that experience.
To sum up the new liberal response, my big issue this summer is whether in 2050, at age 86, I’ll be able “to learn to be comfortable in a sea of [non]-white faces.” Huge tax increase coming in four months? Not important. Health care reform that forces me to subsidize people who refuse to pay for their own? Not on my radar. Alienation of our allies around the world and waffling about the threat of Iranian nukes? Not an issue.
No, in the liberal fantasy world, the big concern of the majority of Americans is supposed to be that minorities might get “uppity” – never mind that a good portion of that majority is minorities. So, as usual, the bad news is that most Americans are awful, awful people unworthy of the liberal media mavens who seek only to save our misguided souls. But the good news is that our liberal betters understand that we just can’t help ourselves.

I have long said that Liberals' grasp of reality was tenuous, at best; and they keep proving it.
According to Cynthia Tucker, "I think 45% to 65% of the people who appear at these (Tea Party) groups are people who will never be comfortable with the idea of a black President." And, just how did Ms. Tucker arrive at this conclusion? She didn't. She said, "Oh, I'm just guessing." Well, excuse me, madam, but I don't trust journos who base their accusations of racism on "just guessing". Groundless accusations may be good enough for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution but the rest of us have higher standards than you and the AJC.
it isn't that they don't "get" reality. It is that reality doesn't fit their template of how things should be, how things should work, so they have to deny it. In their minds, once they SAY something is so,it IS so – whether it is or not in nasty reality. So if they SAY that spending money we don't have will work, it MUST work – even if it doesn't. So they just keep on doing it and to hell with the effects in the real world.
a fear of minority status.
Yep, Cynthia, you nailed it. I am afraid of minority status. I do not want to be the lone capitalist in a communist nation…you twit.
Obviously, something is wrong with me. Last I looked, I am a White Conservative. Yet I support Lt. Col. Allen West. Yep, he is black. Furthermore, I'd vote for him for President. So, am I a white racist, a black racist, a white bigot, a black bigot or … What's Up?
That would make 2 of us. And yes, Cynthia is a twit …at best.
So let's see if I have this straight: "…That’s why most of us attend churches, join clubs and look for friends who reinforce our sense of identity."
And if a person can't find someone who looks and sounds and thinks like they do in their densely populated, poverty stricken, economically backwards, laughingstock third world country–where EVERYONE looks the same–they can come to American and complain about how tough they have it…..?
What am I missing?
Last I heard, the race card was way over the balance limit. Misinformed pretenders of journalism, like Tucker, have yet to come to the realization that the majority of us are fed up with politicians that pretend to represent (or outright ignore) the will of the people and the Constitution. This has nothing to do with color and everything to do with character and honor.
PS. Tucker attended the same university as … Obamao's mouthpiece, Baghdad Bob Gibbs.
"…awful, awful people unworthy of the liberal media mavens who seek only to save our misguided souls".
save our souls???…uuuuhhh…….. Okay, …………so when did the media become evangelists?
The same media who stir up any minority they may find in order to create a narrative on religious freedom,
advocating ripping the Ten Commandments from City, County, State and Federal buildings wants to assert
that we will burn in Hell for being unwilling to submit to Islam?
What am I missing here?
Do the LSM think/believe they have standing to advise US on ANY spiritual matter?
WoW …………….they truly ARE delusional!
.
Bravo. I love Rush Limbaugh's name for that paper: The Atlanta Urinal and Constipation.
Starve the Main Stream Media. Don't buy. Let advertisers know that you're upset with programs they sponsor. Encourage others of our ilk to do the same. Keep the pressure on by identify and responding to the MSM just like this article does. Purge yourself of all hope that the Media, the Left, Democrats, anyone from the other side will ever–ever–like or approve of your ideas. JUST KEEP TRYING TO BEAT THEM. Beat them in the marketplace, beat them in the arena of ideas and opinions, engage and try to beat them wherever you find them. Never give in. ENJOY THE BATTLE. NEVER EXPECT TO BE LIKED. THE LEFT WILL NEVER–EVER, EVER–LIKE YOU!!!! NEVER!!!
Again,
This is probably the only place anyone will read these liberal media mongrels spew. I haven't watched the MSM propaganda networks for well over a year.
Most human beings are more comfortable surrounded by others who look and sound as they do. It’s innate.
The statement above by race baiting Tucker I assume means that she is uncomfortable around whites? Why you racist old biatch.
Cynthia Tucker
continues to accuse people,
of being "Anti-Immigrant"—
when the CORRECT term
is "Anti-ILLEGAL Immigrant"————–there IS a HUGE difference, AIR-HEAD!
She KNOWS what she's doing and continues to do so,
as it fits in, conveniently, with her shallow, stale argument .
TRUTHFULLY—
it ONLY makes her look DUMB, IGNORANT & PATHETIC………
She MANIPULATES words & TWISTS the simplest of logic—
she is an INSULT to women and a "professional" joke !
Why would ANYONE listen to ANYTHING this FOOL has to say-
when she can't even address the correct term & meaning of "ILLEGAL" ?
Granting airtime, to this talentless hack—
and NOT correcting her,
or calling her out—
on her abuse & misuse of words,
says, as MUCH about the program,
as it does about Tucker………………………….LOW RENT and CLASSLESS !
According to Cynthia Tucker, "The runaway inflation and deep recession of the late '70's/early '80's didn't produce a similar season of civic craziness." Uh…right. There was no looting in the NYC blackout of 1977 and forty million serious crimes a year weren't being committed in the USA. The Rev. Jim Jones, a self-proclaimed Marxist, wasn't running a welfare empire which ended in mass murder. Thirty-three inmates didn't die in a prison riot in New Mexico in 1980 and Ted "Unabomber" Kaczynski didn't murder three people with the bombs he sent to colleges and airlines. Tucker graduated from college in 1976 so youth cannot explain her amnesia about those times although a career in journalism could.
Phew, am I ever glad she figured me out. I was having the hardest convincing the man in the mirror I wasn't a racist, sexist, nativist, homophobic bigot. (I still don't think he believes me, though.)
Well, hell, I guess things are getting better. A month ago we were all avowed racists, but now we're just too stupid to know we're racists.
Maybe in another month, we'll be considered well-meaning racists.
I'm sure Ms. Tucker would say that's all the progress we can hope for.
DITTO ON the article headline
Reading comments at leftist websites and even my local papers opinion section, I have learned that not only am I a racist, I am stupid and unenlightened as well.
I predict that after the November elections they will be wrapping themselves in the cloak of martyrdom and will spend the remainder of the Maobama presidency wailing constantly about how stupid we all are not to have willing to follow them. Gonna be fun to watch.
The problem liberals in the media are having with the swing voters (they really don't care if they have a problem with the conservative voters) is that the moderates who voted for Obama in 2008 thought they had proved themselves to be post-racial voters by casting ballots for the man who promised he'd be a post-racial president. But then, when even the moderates started to question both the spending and the domestic agenda priorities of the Obama Administration, they found themselves being hit with the same deck of race cards that has been thrown at conservatives for years.
The left, both in the Democratic Party and in the big media, think they can intimidate the moderates back into line by threatening them with the taint of racism. But the same people who trusted Obama two years ago are now thinking to themselves that not even electing the first African-American president of the United States is enough to satisfy liberals, and they resent the attempts to have their concerns bullied into submission.
Moderates being who they are, they're also likely to give Obama a reset after the Nov. 2 election, and would be willing to vote for him in 2012 …. if they think he's learned his lesson, and does things similar to what Bill Clinton did after his party's wipeout in 1994. But they're not going to be intimidated into giving Obama another four years if all he does is pretend to move to the middle, and all the media does is peddle the White House's spin on 'moderation' while calling anyone who doesn't believe that spin racist.
The progressives are using this bunk to divide voters in Nov. Pay it no never-mind. They can't brag about their accomplishments, so they have to misdirect the voters ire to such mundane ideas as to who will be in a majority in 2050. Well that's forty years away. I'm more worried about will happen within 59 days. Whether or not we will still have a Republic or a socialist form of government is more pressing in my mind.
Stay focused, Folks. Nov be coming real soon. And I understand that payback can really be hurtful to those who opposed the public will.
I could compile a long list of black Americans I'd support as president, it just happens that Obama would not be on it.
"Most human beings are more comfortable surrounded by others who look and sound as they do. It’s innate. "
From my experience this is completely wrong. What we are more comfortable with is people who share our background and our values because we know what to expect from them and we understand them, it has nothing to do with the color of their skin or their accent.
Try putting Cynthia is a room full of conservatives and see how comfortable she feels, even if they all share her skin color, language and accent.
Could we benefit from spending time with people who are unlike us? I think so. I like to learn about others and their thoughts and traditions etc… We can get comfortable with those of different backgrounds and values, depending on how far different from our beliefs they are, although it takes a little more effort at first.
T"he Liberal Media Have Met The Enemy and He Is Us" or "Article 1,345 on Andrew Breitbart's Website on How its BAD, BAD, BAD to Call People who Aren't Racist Racist"
No one running this website has ever done something like this. Doesn't playing the conservative victim to the big, bad NAACP get old after a while? Apparently no one has ever been able to figure out that false accusations of racism are out-of-bounds except Brother #1 Breitbart. That established, can we move onto something other than poor oppressed White conservative?
*sigh*
I must only assume that liberals actually ARE this stupid.
As a man with mixed parents (no, one was not a Bears fan and the other a Packers fan) who cares. I will guess that there are people that think in terms of white and black, and based on who brings it up all the time, the only people who are actually thinking this are liberals.
When we argue policy, they bring up race. When we argue character, they bring up race. I could ask what time it was, and they'd bring up race. They can't argue the points on deficit spending, foreign policy, taxes. But boy oh boy, can they talk about whitey hatin' them brown folk!
My advice to conservatives? Keep on target. Don't let the racists hijack the narrative. The more they talk in these terms, the dumber they look. Let them look the fool. It's sometimes actually fun to watch.
mullikrk, I can't see your point. Why should we tolerate unjust accusations against anybody, whatever his race or his politics?
Well I for one am sure glad that is cleared up. So I am tagged as a racist, not because I want to be but that I just can't help it.
I just love how compassionate and caring the left is.
Just for the record? I hate all racists, bigots, and people from Belgium.
A question for liberals who say conservatives are bigots for not supporting Obama: did you support Alan Keyes for President in 1996?
Look, if we are not racists then they've spent a boatload of money hiring ad hucksters and sitcom stars who are dark skinned but impossible to classify as black, latino or asian.
And their definition of salad bowl assimilation still needs some work.
Tucker is merely defending her belief in political correctness and affirmative action.
She owes her success to her race, not her talent.
Geraldine Ferraro said, "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."
What party is she from again?
Why does EVERY existing example of humanity have the right, over MY God given rights to exist?AND in MY country?I fear a holocaust approaches.Whether mine or anothers, one is coming if the left doesn't dry up and blow away.Insensitive?Yes,because we've done it your way for 60 years, all that happened was 150 million dead innocents(from left of center governments)and a bankrupted economy(just as planned). The time is nigh,if you do not accept the ballot box,you can only expect the bullet box, that will be final say as you have proven over the last 120 years.
To what article are you responding? This one? Who's talking about "poor oppressed white conservatives?" It's just that we're damned sick and tired of being called racists… and this more-in-pity-than-contempt tone of Tucker is just as nauseating. We're tired of the condescending, elitist tone of the liberal media and the ruling class. And we're tired of jackasses like you who are either too brainwashed to understand that, or too convinced of your own superiority to even admit that there may be valid points of view that are not the same as yours.
I think that classifying people as being a minority is what is keeping the race issue alive today. We need to stop this and just become people. I have never understood the race thing. It is perpetuated by social programs and the constant behavior of those minorities that needs to change.
So, once again, gang, this time with feeling – all those tea party crazies who don't like socialism, who don't like seeing the greatest nation on earth destroyed in a see of partisan spending, who insist that tolerance is a two way street aren't exactly bigots . . . well, yes they are, we're just trying to say a little more nicely.
Don't worry Nick and Cyntia, you guys and Keith Olberman have taught me to love my inner racist.
I'm a racist, I consider that a given. Now may we discuss the issues? Oh, yeah, we can't because on the issues you loose.
How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.
Ronald Reagan
Oh, thank the stars above. Cynthia Tucker has defined for us what is wrong.
I wonder if this fool wet her pants waiting to get this information out to us?
Are you a racist mullikrk?
Didn't I suggest to US News and World Report, or was it Time Magazine a cover saying
"We are all Racists Now"?
Flig,
First, why are you name calling? It makes you sound dumb.
Second, you asked "to what article are you responding". Sorry. I usually respond with direct URLs, but I don't have enough time. There are four articles on the front page of bigjournalism.com, a dozen or so more on the next 5 pages, that either in whole or in part make the argument that liberals call conservatives racists to delect conservative arguments.
I never make that argument– unless it is warranted. I'm more than happy to compare how things ran under George Bush with 2 bullshit decade long wars and a simultaneous depression to boot and how things are running now, where we are in a recovery with lagging unemployment numbers. You don't have to make accusations of racism to see that conservatives don't know how to govern– at all.
No, but there are people around on this website that are.
I agree with where you are going– no matter how snarkily it was phrased.
Speaking of unfair accusations against common people, what did you think of Andrew Breitbart and his accusations of racism against Shirley Sherrod?
I usually don't respond to you reds, but you made me crack up:
"First, why are you name calling? It makes you sound dumb."
Name calling by calling someone "dumb" is somehow OK? But "jackasses" isn't? Only in a liberal mind (oops, sorry, I'm name calling there).
What is the definition of racism?
wow
Why do you lie to try and make your point? If you expect make any inroads here boy….you need to stop the Huffpo and Media Matters lies…we know better….
Prove that AB accused Shirley Sherrod of racism, let us see the quote….
I wish Cynthia Tucker would read this. Might scare her into buying some progressive "depends" . This is powerful: http://www.thepostemail.com/2009/11/11/the-gather...
I think some of us are going too far with the Muslim criticism. To some degree the other side is consciously goading us to an overreaction. They keep saying ‘nothing to see here’ and some conservatives are yelling ‘yes there is’… the media plays along (nothing to see here… except some racists).. and it pushes some people into going overboard.
Kind of reminds me of how Obama played the birth certificate thing. Wouldn’t release it, said he did when he didn’t (just the cert of live birth), et cetera. Drove some conservatives over the edge while they were yelling back that it wasn’t true.
Martin, with an answer like that, how on earth do you have a -81. I guess I will have to take a look at what you have written in the past, but this post is right on the money.
Why would she have even brought up the fact that she even MIGHT do that white farmer wrong? Why did the audience applaud when she said that, even before they knew she decided not to harm him?
Did Cynthia have a banana in her paw when she spewed this black supremacist hatred?

And 100% of her ilk are uncomfortable with the black man on the SCOTUS
Ms. Tucker has reached her goal, she is a de facto "white" liberal now–hiding in an upscale community and avoiding such bastions of hate (you know, Wal-Mart).
Uh…. what recovery are you referring to? I sure as hell see no evidence of a recovery. Oh, that's right. I forgot. Joe Biden says everything is just peachy.
And you are resorting to the liberal "blame Bush" mantra… which is at least as common as the constant cries of "racism!" And your claim that conservatives don't know how to govern is another argument entirely. Typical attempt to deflect the conversation away from its subject.
Kristoff and Tucker are well known intolerant Ameriphobes just throwing verbal acid in the face of Americans.
.
The current Main-Stream-Media power binge began with Watergate and the impeachment of President Nixon and ended when CBS and Dan Rather tried to upset the election of GW Bush with false statements. That is when they became the MBM (Make-Believe-Media).
What happened? The Internet! Current News became quickly available from numerous sources, those interested could read and decide for themselves and no longer needed to rely on "talking heads" for information and analysis.
As folks found that some MBM sources were shading the truth they started ignoring them which in turn caused the MBM to increase the false rhetoric in a downward spiral as they tried to retain their power.
So how did they end up in the Liberal camp? Examine, Liberals are basically lazy, they want everything provided for themselves, health care, nanny state, government jobs and of course, pre-digested news, enter the MBM.
MBM Praising Obama… http://usataxpayer.org/?0047696372
Obama Wants America to Fail… http://usataxpayer.org/?0045109198
I answered her commentary a year or more ago about Obama and he being Black. He is not Black. It is not possible. He is a mixed race person, a bi-racial person. His mother is 50% of his DNA and his ethnic heritage, as is his father 50%. Leftists refuse to accept this fact.
No the real racists here are those like Cynthia, who can not accept the fact that they are the racists and the extremely ignorant haters.
that is uncalled for.
Monkeys have feelings, too.
I would add to that list something along the lines of,
what religion / ethnicity etc has contributed less to mankind throughout history and has contributed more to the current chaos, and in return for this stellar accomplishment is rewarded by fellow worthless people (aka liberals) by giving them a show trial for KSM, applauding their thumb in the eye via the hamasque, not to mention a pat on the back by NASA for accomplishments they didn't accomplish?
On the subject of who is more racist, the Left or the Right, I give you the following:
"Into the scarcity thus created in particular districts, in particular sections of the labour market, or in particular social strata, there rush the offspring of the less thrifty, the less intellectual, the less foreseeing of races and classes – the unskilled casual labourers of our great cities, the races of Eastern or Southern Europe, the negroes, the Chinese – possibly resulting, as already in parts of the USA, in such a heterogeneous and mongrel population that democratic self-government, or even the effective application of the policy of a national minimum of civilised life, will become increasingly unattainable.
If anything like this happens, it is difficult to avoid the melancholy conclusion that, in some cataclysm that it is impossible for us to foresee, that civilisation characteristic of the Western European races may go the way of half a dozen other civilisations that have within historic times preceded it; to be succeeded by a new social order developed by one or other of the coloured races, the negro, the kaffir or the Chinese"
– Let's play a little game of "guess the political affiliation of the author", shall we?
You're a Red Blooded American!
Gosh, darn …I'll take that as a compliment. Lord knows I'm not a blue blood. Initially, I'm an Arizonan, gun toting Mama who believes 1st and foremost in the US Constitution, no matter Race, Color or Creed. Thank You.
i'd proudly vote for a ticket of Col. West & Condie Rice over ANYBODY the Dems could come up with. it just can't be that i like what they stand for- it's gotta be trying to cover for my deep-seated shame at being a bigot- or so they'd tell me.
Ah, but that's different, RadarHawk. The Black man on the SCOTUS doesn't understand the plight of "real" Black Americans. (/Sarc)
0bama wouldn't make my list for dogcatcher…
We need to treat the unfounded accusation as a racist act in itself; with all the despicable intensity that comes with it.
This may be good news, and I think it's also quite amusing (as repeated to me – I didn't see and couldn't find the article reportedly "last week or so" in the Chicago Tribune or Sun-Times):
Apparently, union political workers are getting a little frustrated while making their neighborhood rounds to hand out (Democratic Party of course) political campaign material. As the gentleman or lady of the house opens the door to see who the door-knocker is and what he wants, the increasingly-agitated union "volunteer" is simultaneously greeted by Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly on the resident's television set. Heh.
When ~scarequote~progressives~/scarequote~ say they are reality-based, it's an alternate reality they're talking about.
My uncle thinks I am weak.
Cynthia hasn't figured out that I'm not upset with the black half of President Obama, I'm sickened by the white half that continues the same insane elitist policies of the self anointed bastards in Washington, D.C. who think they are smarter than anyone else and are using my money to play their frigging ponszi games without my consent.
I think she just called us all white negroes.
When you say, "At least, that seems to be the strategy du jour for the left and their mainstream media meat puppets." are you implying that Obama has his hand up Keith Olbermann's…. back? Because I think Olbermann gets way too much happiness from that thought alone.
Nah, it just means that she is only comfortable around liberal/progressive who think exactly like she does and who live in a world that is not based in reality. She obviously cannot be comfortable in a room full of conservatives who actually see the threat that the Dems policies and the Muslim extremists pose to us all.
See http://manwithshovel.blogspot.com/2010/09/backlas...
According to Tucker, you average normally sober-minded American are not a racist, you just don't want those with different colored skin in charge of anything. This country is now majority white and you, quite understandably, are extremely upset that it is predicted to be different 40 years from now. You want it to stay that way so that you can be in charge. That's not racism at all, its pre-emptive affirmative action.
Oh, and you're really really stupid, too.
Good, 'cause it was meant as a compliment! My mum lives in Flagstaff!
Flig, I just think it worthwhile to compare what we have now (50,000 US troops in Iraq and >2% annual increase in GDP with a 28% bump in the DOW) with where we were 19 months ago (depression, 150,000 troops in Iraq) and what the alternative was (hundreds of thousands of troops in Teheran). Just because this country has the attention span of a gnat doesn't mean you have to ignore [very] recent history as well.
I'm not deflecting anything. I'm perfectly willing to have any kind of poltical discussion you want on any subject you care to bring up. You are the ones playing the race card CARD to deflect attention from Republican mismanagement the last time this country put them in power.
If you don't like the news, go back to your cartoons…retard.
ooooh. I wish I'd said that. Very well put.
VERSE-LETTER TO PIPER , SAMUEL & TRIG
One thing I've learned: Never convince a voter to change party affiliation.
I never knew who Sarah Palin was.
Then someone gifted me with her book and I went rogue.
Before Sarah Palin there was Hillary Rodham Clinton.
I loved the way she exclaimed "Absolutely!"
When interviewed for her autobiographical masterpiece,
Copies of which I bought for giveaways.
I voted for Hillary Rodham Clinton in the primary.
They voted for Barack Obama..
There was a lot of drama within our clan.
United in our diversity.
We were divided and subdivided
By political fortunes as well as misfortunes.
Immediate members of my family were Republicans.
I was the only Democrat.
When Barack (Hussein was yet taboo) Obama
Materialized, they declared themselves Independents
My vote was all set for Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Journolists hillaried her for the audacity of hope
A la Rev. Wright damning America.
As far as I know, had it been a Republican primary,
Hillary could have grabbed the nomination.
In fact she reached the highest ceiling of popular votes.
The day she conceded I died a certain death.
From the chrysalis of my grief
I metamorphosed into a Republican.
The rest of the family members switched party affiliation.
The rest of the family members turned Democrats..
It's the fault of George W. Bush, they said.
No, I countered, it's the fault of Pelosi and Dean
And the rigging of the caucuses by the ACORN and their Black Panthers
Sans Feinstein, sans Ferraro, sans balding Carville.
Stop whining, they hushed me.
We are the change we are waiting for.
Frankly, up to this point in time,
Mother does not really give a damn.
(So far, not one in our family is named Scarlett,
Or Vivian. A nephew is named Clark.
He left the house one morning.
Until now he has not come home. He wasn't dispatched
To Iraq or Afghanistan, but someone's got to be blamed.
It must be the fault of George W. Bush)
Have you lost your our job?
It's the fault of George W. Bush.
Is the economy akin to Bo palling with the Black Panthers?
It's the fault of George W. Bush.
O tempora! O mores!
It's forever the fault of George W. Bush!
Or of Dick Cheeney! Or of Karl Rove!
Or of Sarah Palin! Or of Hillary Rodham Clinton!
Where has Donald Rumsfeld gone?
Why's he ain't asked to account for the martyrdom of Saddam Hussein?
You betcha! We've got to move on:
Hilllary or Sarah, it does not matter anymore.
They are both human like you and me.
Only, we have made of them the symbol
Of our American Dream.
Every election is a celebration of freedom.
Every vote is sacred.
Every ballot is secret..
Vote whom you wish to vote.
Vote for Angle. Vote for Reid.
Vote for Fiorina. Vote for ("General, call me Senator") Boxer.
Celebrate freedom. Celebrate life. Vote.
You don't need a teleprompter to vote.
God bless America.
America, bless God..
Sure thing. its great that AB doesn't take the thing off his own website. http://biggovernment.com/author/abreitbart/. Scroll down to the second artilce. Here's the quote…
"In this piece you will see video evidence of racism coming from a federal appointee and NAACP award recipient…We are in possession of a video from in which Shirley Sherrod, USDA Georgia Director of Rural Development, speaks at the NAACP Freedom Fund dinner in Georgia. In her meandering speech to what appears to be an all-black audience, this federally appointed executive bureaucrat lays out in stark detail, that her federal duties are managed through the prism of race and class distinctions.
In the first video, Sherrod describes how she racially discriminates against a white farmer. She describes how she is torn over how much she will choose to help him. And, she admits that she doesn’t do everything she can for him, because he is white."
"Most human beings are more comfortable surrounded by others who look and sound as they do. It’s innate. That’s why most of us attend churches, join clubs and look for friends who reinforce our sense of identity, usually along lines of color and class."
Uhh… Cynthia, down here, deep, deep in the heart of South West Georgia, my church is integrated, as is where I work. Is your's?
Maybe if you followed your own advice your website wouldn't be dead.
"While we honor the intent of the 1st Amendment, we ask that you maintain a level of civility in your discussions. "
…my folks are in Flagstaff. Have considered moving back to the White Mountains (Showlow area), but have heard that there are a lot of drugs …crack, mesc, etc. Do you know? Although, I love Flagstaff, too.
Tucker is like many of the talking heads on the left (and some on the right, to be fair). She has a skill to compose readable text, but isn't really capable of much analysis or even logic. Rather, in the spirit of being an "opinion" writer, she finds a piece of current news, or opinions of others, and expands on it with her own views. Anyone expecting something of any significant depth is wasting their time.
If you've ever caught her speaking on ABC's Sunday political hour (name?) or on Chris Matthews, you can see in real time how shallow she really is. For all his bias, Matthews is good at drilling and even forcing depth from people. Usually he is most aggressive with non-liberals, but he doesn't often cut liberals all the slack they may want. However, Tucker is so shallow the last time I tuned in, well over two years ago, he just let her make her prepared comments and stopped there. Why drill when you know the well is dry?
Aww. Did da wittle wetawd get it's feewings huwt? ROFLMFAO!
Again, Tucker is NOT an analytical person. She simply picks and chooses factoids and anecdotes, slips them into the exposition of her opinion without necessarily connecting them, and perhaps counts her words to make sure it all fits. Quite mechanical.
I read a number of liberal writers, even some who are simply opinion writers. She is one of the few who never, and I mean never, make me stop and think. Her output is always disconnected, random, and thoughtless to me.
I'm gonna sell popcorn…extra butter. Oh, and extra salt for New Yorkers…(shhhh-it's not listed on the menu)
So, am I a white racist, a black racist, a white bigot, a black bigot or …
Difficult to say. Self-righteous? Desparate for attention?
So you post a piece…. the very piece off this website here? The very one unlimately makes fools out of the POTUS, the Department of Agricultue, the Main Stream Media, and appearently YOU….
To you make your point? Are you serious? I mean come on don't you feel just a little bit stupid? I waited patiently with baited breath…for this? Because if thats all you have…….
I mean… So you are so stupid that you STILL don't get the point of that whole Britebart piece, after you catch up to the rest of the country maybe you can show your face around here again…..
"Correction: While Ms. Sherrod made the remarks captured in the first video featured in this post while she held a federally appointed position, the story she tells refers to actions she took before she held that federal position.

Context is everything.
In this piece you will see video evidence of racism coming from a federal appointee and NAACP award recipient and in another clip from the same event a perfect rationalization for why the Tea Party needs to exist.
But first the context:
For the past week, Americans who consider themselves aligned with the Tea Party movement have suffered the indignity of being falsely labeled racist by the NAACP and their pro-bono publicity managers, the main stream media. The constant calls to “repudiate the racists from your ranks” have not only been insulting, but have also served to force a false standard upon America’s fastest-growing and most vibrant political movement that no other group could ever live up to nor would ever be asked to live up to.
While the media has chosen to do the Democratic Party’s bidding in allowing for the NAACP to negatively and falsely brand the millions strong, loosely affiliated tea party phenomenon as “racist”, the moral indignation over race and racism has taken center stage in a summer of economic and political discontent.
The NAACP, an undeniable weapon in the Democratic Party’s arsenal, was more than happy to exploit this nation’s sensitive racial schism for possible political gain. The Democratic Party and the NAACP, needless to say, are playing with fire.
From the beginning of the Tea Party movement, the Left, its aiders and abettors at MSNBC, the NY Times and other reliable left of center propaganda venues, raised race as the driving force behind the movement, even though the evidence was never there.
Boy, ah say boy, read the whole piece…..God help us what an idiot……
Let me tell you about me. I prefer people who have manners first of all. If someone is rude or preachy, I don't have any use for them. Same goes for anyone who is a self appointed elitist. All that covers about 97% of the liberal media.
After that, spending a little time with them is the true test of whether I like them or not. I either do or I don't. I don't pull out my college notes and classify them into various categories – each with a technical definition of a word that ends with an ist. People are people and should be judged on their own merits. Liberals are lazy when they start throwing around the group word. Lazy because they don’t want to do the work to learn about everyone when they can just generalize.
Truth is, most of us just don't care what the press thinks about us or what they say about us. And with that I will announce to the liberal media – who cares what you think of me? Call me whatever you want or call me everything you want. I does not matter. You are whom I choose to ignore.
Liberal reporters remind me of a large musical band. None of them are very good but when they all play together you can't tell which one is hitting all the sour notes. They are noisy and hard to listen to. I choose to walk away and find something else more of my liking.
They have done one thing lately to interest me though. They have been cruel to a bunch of Americans that I call brothers and sisters. I'm talking about the bunch that loves America without condition. The bunch that thinks about God then country then family then everything else. The bunch that will not let you step on their flags. The bunch that will not let you take away their guns. Liberal reporters have attacked everyone who does not love the current administration’s every squeak and step. They have attacked democrats and republicans and independents all. We speak up and say, “Tea Party”, and they stand in line to call us names.
Next, if I have an opinion about Ground Zero, it came from my heart. I watched those buildings fall down and it has scarred our country. I won't watch a building go up next to that site to honor the people who did it. I didn't have to look in some playbook to see how I should respond or think. I didn't have to wonder if this had anything to do with one's right to religion. I made up my mind because of what happened to America. Just for loving our country like I thought everyone did, the liberal media attacks me again.
They have also gotten my attention for something that they did not do. Learning more about our President as time goes on, I can not find one single interview or report which explains why he should be acting as he is. The liberal media did not do an adequate job of vetting our President. There are more questions than there are answers so I am going to ask that the real reporters come forward and find out some history about our President. When we get our new congress in Washington, they need to unlock his school records and let us Americans have a look. We need to KNOW why he does what he does. We need to know now.
Because of all that, they loose my seal of approval. It is gone. They have to start all over. All liberal press passes are canceled as far as I am concerned.
So am I compassionate and caring? My friends would answer yes and others might answer no. Am I a racists? My friends would answer no and others might answer yes. Is that confusing? I bet that really is confusing to liberal reporters and it probably explains everything we need to know about them.
No one likes people from Belgium
Great article Kurt, but it needs more gnome/unicorn jokes
"Most of the opponents aren’t bigots but well-meaning worriers — and during earlier waves of intolerance in American history, it was just the same."
Uh huh, and most liberal journalists aren't out right liars but well meaning do gooders who think the crap that their Marxist professors pumped into their brains MUST be true because………well because they paid an awful lot of money to be spoon fed that crap in the first place.
I have seen the entrie video and I still have questions about whether Mrs Sherrod is a racist or not. From other news accounts about, we know that she treated all of her workers like serfs, so she is no saint and she may or may not be a racist.
Krk,
Are you trying to say that liberals don't drop the race card everytime it looks as though they might lose the argument? Are you implying that liberals do not resort to name calling? You can not seriously be trying to say that President Obama and his team have done a better job of governing the country than any of the last five presidents, including James Earl Carter.
President Ronald Wilson Reagan was the best president in my lifetime and probably the best president since Abraham Lincoln. President Reagan was arguably the last true conservative president this country has had.
Your arguments, like most liberal arguments, are weak and without merit.
You mean we are all evolving into Robert Byrd? Now there's a goal to strive toward!
LOL…we went from being racists and bigots to well meaning worriers.
"Snarkily"? In what way was Martin's post snarky?
