Oh look! The Justice Department decides to dump 500 pages on Congress on a Friday night! If they really want to be secretive or different they’d choose to dump documents on a Tuesday night. We’re almost looking forward to Friday nights because that’s when we can expect anything about Fast and Furious from the Justice Department.
Attorney General Eric Holder is set to testify on Thursday, February 2 in front of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee so it’s no surprise there was a dump last night. I was looking through my timeline when I saw Michelle Malkin’s tweet about the documents. The link led to NPR, which shocked me they would be the ones to have it plus they included nine pages of the documents. They beat the AP! I have found unless the AP writes about Fast and Furious the majority of the Old Media won’t touch it.
I went to sleep around midnight central time and at that time the only major outlets that covered it were AP, CNN, Washington Post, FOX News, and ABC News. This morning I woke up and saw USA Today posted the AP article. The story was the main story on the front page of their national section, but has since been replaced. It’s not even on the front page anymore. I’d give them props, but it appeared before 6AM and taken down before 9AM CDT. Sorry guys, it doesn’t count when you have it up and taken down before the majority of the country wakes up. It’s also nowhere on the FOX News home page and it’s buried in the politics section. Shame on them since they’ve been consistent with Fast and Furious coverage. CNN does receive credit because it’s still on their home page.
At The Washington Post and ABC News you have to go a search for Fast and Furious in order to find their AP article. The New York Times also buried the AP article. In order to find it you have to go to the bottom of their home page and find the tiny cube for “More News From AP and Reuters.” Click on AP and it’s under AP Politics. But you have to click AP Politics and scroll to the bottom. Even if you search “Fast and Furious” it doesn’t bring up the article. I consider this as NOT covering it New York Times! I’m very disappointed The Washington Times hasn’t even mentioned it. I haven’t seen anything on CBS News either. MSNBC buried the AP article.
Here’s the thing. I know these outlets have investigative reporters. The emails gave me more questions than answers and I’m wondering why no one in the Old Media is pointing this out. I receive Google Alerts for Eric Holder and Operation Fast and Furious. This morning a blog post from Stop The ACLU popped up addressing the same questions I had. NPR brings up this part in the emails, but ignores it and doesn’t realize the importance. Right after Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry passed away Monty Wilkinson, Mr. Holder’s deputy chief of staff, emails Dennis Burke (bold my emphasis), “Tragic. I’ve alerted the AG, the Acting DAG, Lisa, etc.”
Later that night Mr. Burke emails this to Mr. Wilkinson:
As the author of this blog asks are we willing to believe Mr. Wilkinson didn’t tell this to Mr. Holder? Mr. Holder claimed he didn’t know about Fast and Furious until a few weeks before his May 3, 2011 testimony.
NPR & the AP used the last emails to help make Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer the fall guy, but did not ask further questions. These emails are about Mr. Breuer’s trip to Mexico City to meet with the Mexican Attorney General’s Office (PGR), Mexicos’s Federal Police (SSP), and the Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE). I bet you’re not surprised when I tell you the majority of this email is blacked out, but this crucial part is left open (Ventura is Ambassador Julian Ventura):
This happened on February 4, 2011. Now let’s pretend common sense still exists, okay? I know it’s crazy, but go with me. Let’s say Mr. Wilkinson did tell Mr. Holder about Agent Terry’s death and the guns found at the scene. Wouldn’t Mr. Holder tell this to the assistant attorney general? If not in December, but before he went to Mexico City to discuss an operation like Fast & Furious?
You would think Mr. Holder knew about Operation Fast and Furious before Mr. Breuer based on the December emails between Mr. Burke and Mr. Wilkinson. I’d think Mr. Wilkinson probably worked with Mr. Breur a lot, but I also would think since Mr. Holder was his direct boss he’d go to him about Mr. Burke’s emails.
We know from previous statements and document dumps the Justice Department is trying to make Lanny Breuer their fall guy. The media is more than happy to go along with this unfortunately. They’re not analyzing and asking more questions like they should.
I’ll be keeping an eye on the media all weekend for any updates.

He will have to file a response to the courts or forfeit his name on the November ballot. Will his narcissist and self centered "medical conditions" keep him from making the trip to the courts and provide the required "evidence" or will he strong arm the sytstem like he tried with the 70 year old governor of Arizona over a simple book and flyijng 2500 miles to express this. To bad he didn't find some time to visit the border while there.

Is it a suprise that the MSM is refusing to print anything negative about the anointed one or his minions? They did after all bend over backwards to get him elected, or was that just plain bend over? The real trick is to get this information to the people that pay little attention to the news.

As I posted on another BIG thread, I have stopped going to Drudge for the most part because of his refusal to touch Fast & Furious. If he would run these stories with his big red siren, the MSM would have been forced into covering this months ago…..but no, he has to save that for bash Newt propaganda pieces hand fed to him by Romney!
Is there any chance that Holder will plead the Fifth next week? And would anyone in the media mention it if he does?

I wish I shared your optimism – this story has been out there at least since last summer when Holder started changing his story regarding what he knew and when he knew it.
The fact that Drudge still hasn't touched it tells me that, for some unknown reason, he doesn't want it to go big.
Perhaps but Drudge more than anybody understands the news cycle. Frankly, if you blast away before September/October before the election it's drowned out by something else. There's one other problem. I'm not sure the congress has the balls to put the cuffs on some of these guys. All i hear is Issa griping about the administration stalling about this and that and then… nothing.
It's what a cabinet is for these days. To take the heat for the boss. In reality, the President delegates the authority to Holder to carry out the President's function as the chief law enforcement officer in the land. Most people don't know this but he cannot delegate the responsibility. In effect, when Holder effs up, the President effs up. Why? Because he's the one who nominated him and who is accountable. It's why military commanders are routinely relieved for subordinate's mistakes.
He'll just say he never read that email either. The question that needs to be asked of him at the next hearing is how does he determine which emails to read and which to ignore.

Since he was ready and willing to enter a default judgement andrecommend that Obama be removed from the ballot on Thursday, I thinkthe judgement is a forgone conclusion at this point. First the judge will be labeled as a racist, then the MSM will pile on Atlanta, the State of Georgia, then the South….if Obama is not on the ballot, all hell is going to break loose. Who knows where this will lead.

The Obama administration's practice of deceiving the American people needs to be exposed. We can't depend on Obama's media to tell the truth. It needs a platform to get maximum exposure in this instant gratification world. Maybe FOX could put on a PRIME Time comedy program that lampoons the President's and his henchmens' week intermixed with an explanation that puts the comedy in perspective. It would likely be a hit and would drive the thin-skinned Obama absolutely nuts.
What independent journalists and citizen investigating reporters should be doing is bust open the "Progressives" communication channels by placing spies in their organizations who will report back to the people!!! Find out once and for all if they are "Conspiring" amongst themselves to control information, so as to deceive the American people!! If they are found guilty, their FCC licenses should be pulled!!! They would be proven to be nothing more than propaganda outlets treasonous to the health and welfare of the sovereign United States, it's Constitution and it's people!!

I agree. Seems like the reason all the challenges so far have beenthrown out is because of the judges hearing them. This judge is doingthe job the law prescribes and his job. I understand all he can do ismake a recommendation to the sec of state to have the name removed, soit isn't over even with the right verdict.

I hope this Judge has the moral fiber to do his job in spite of all the pressure brought to bear against him, even if it looks futile. It's easy for us to look down on the Germans as Hitler rose to power, I guess now it's our turn.
I sure hope that judge has good security. I would not be at all suprised if he ended up dead or missing due to a "home invasion".

Ms. Mary Chastain, I cannot thank you enough for continually bringing this criminal enterprise out in the open. Your tenacious reporting and ability to get it out gives me the happy feeling that there are actual journalists out there who want to give people the truth. My only misgiving is there isn't a way to clone you 100 times over so we could get the truth rather than the biased slant from most others.
