Parenting books are filled with examples of how children learn by watching and imitating their parents. So it should comes as no surprise to anyone when elected officials like Congressman Fortney Hillman “Pete” Stark treat them like fools or mock them for having the effrontery to question the work they are doing in Washington D. C. After all, Stark was just following the lead of his Speaker and even the odd Senator or two.

When the Healthcare Bill was making the final lap we were told by Speaker Pelosi that “We have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it.”
Really? That’s how government works? We elect folks to represent us and they do whatever they want and deliver legislation like it’s a big surprise filled package to “We the people?” I did not think that was the way government operated, but very few in the MSM media seemed to object to this effrontery from the Speaker’s office. After all — they’re on her side!
I guess that’s why we should not have been surprised when the 2000-plus pages of a “financial reform” bill came lumbering down the pike and one of the architects of this bill, outgoing Senator Chris Dodd (D, Countrywide) was quoted as saying, “”No one will know until this is actually in place how it works.”
See what I mean? The big people are doing it… why not a Congressman from California?
Last Saturday in Fremont, CA there was a town hall meeting held by Pete Stark and this 38-year veteran of Congress displayed some rather interesting respect for the people who pay his salary. Instead of answering questions in a helpful and informative manner, or even showing that he cared about the questions or the people asking them, Stark spent much of the time deriding his constituents, calling them names, and mocking their questions.
When the topic turned to the topic of border security, Stark really turned on the charm asking “Who are you going to kill today?” Literally accusing some of those attending the meeting of shooting people who try and cross the border illegally.
Just for the record, are the papers filled with stories of Minutemen gunning down illegal aliens? Nope.
At one point in the exchange the Congressman pulls a reverse Louis XIV and actually says to the questioner, “I’m not the government.” So why were you elected to serve and what are you doing in Washington?
About 3:45 into the clip, Congressman Stark references the Bracero Program (a temp guest worker program started in 1942) saying “we still have the Bracero Program.” One small problem here, Bracero was formally ended in 1964, a full nine years before Stark took office. He also says:
One of the reasons, I think, you have such a low incidence of crime among those people who are here without documentation is they’re scared, they know that if they are arrested for a crime, they will be turned over to the immigration authorities, which they try to avoid.
Congressman Stark’s problems with logic, the facts and the truth are not new. In an August 2008 interview about the rising deficit with journalist Jan Helfeld, the Congressman schooled Mr. Helfeld on the economic principles that he believes we should all know by now: “The more you owe, the wealthier you are.” Pay close attention to the snarky tone throughout the interview, which is cut short by Stark’s threat to throw Mr. Helfeld out of his office window. (Caution – there is language from the Congressman which would not pass FCC standards for broadcast.)
The MSM doesn’t view Stark’s behavior as offensive — although Glenn Beck does – and his rude and dismissive comments have not received much attention on any of the liberal cable outlets. As the old saying goes, “silence = consent.” At least we know where they stand.
Congressman Stark faces election this fall, but judging by his demeanor or “swagger” he’s not very concerned about any opposition. And why should he be worried? Stark has won his seat 19 times, with an average margin of victory at 68%!
Thirty-eight years ago the Congressman won his seat by defeating a candidate he claimed had been in office too long. . . and that guy, George Paul Miller had only served 28 years. You would hope the people of California might catch on to someone like Stark, but if nobody in the press reports on behavior like this, maybe it never happened. After all, if a clown falls in the forest and there’s nobody there to witness it, does he make a sound?

Sorry, but you will not get the favored child of the dem party to do it's job, and report the facts to the public.
Especially if it involves leaders who openly scorn their constituents, and who happen to be dem.
More and more people are becoming aware of and are noticing the media's subliminals that are trying to get the public to believe all is well, and to stop asking about the man behind the curtain.
Notice the holographic president, and those who fawn over this regime.
We need to identify, openly confront, and continue to confront, those in the media who are obviously not doing their jobs, and doing the public a disservice.
And we need to remove these liberal/progressive/dem/RiNO fools from positions of power, be it in Washington, at state government level, local level, or even PTA/schoolboard level.
We must confront their ideology, their contempt, continually.
Let the purge begin at the next meeting/election, and in every meeting/election to follow.
November's coming baby!
It will take a generation to undo the damage. Longer if we let the media entertain us away from what's important to our nation's future.
Only in California can an elected official get away with showing such naked contempt for his constituents at a town hall meeting and not be tarred and feathered. When I saw that clip on Glenn Beck, I wanted to reach through my big screen and punch his face into hamburger. If this man gets re-elected, the entire State population should just throw themselves into the sea and drown. They would be better off.
I might have to modify that statement.
I'm sure the unions are the favored child of the dems. But both the dem politicians and the unions expect support from the media, and now, several generations later, they control the media.

Nah, they can just throw themselves into the bay.
You wouldn't want to chance any of them not making it to the Pacific.
PIC of Stark's District Map
"Better to dwell in freedom's hall,
With a cold damp floor and mouldering wall,
Than bow the head and bend the knee
In the proudest palace of slaverie."
– Thomas Moore
Only because I subscribe to the advice "don't kill the messenger" is my TV still in working order after watching this Stark guy's display.
The LameStreamMedia has gone from supports of dems to an integral part of the progressive machine. The only way they will be able to survive (There are more conservatives than either liberals or moderates) is with a government bailout along with a new definition of jounalist.
Regarding Stark – he is the most pathetic politician I have ever seen, but the real shame is the brainless idiots that keep electing him.
Get your family, friends and neighbors to the polls in November, if they happen to be democrats let 'em walk!
Make no mistake, the next 123 days are a get out the vote campaign for conservatives and we MUST get to the polls in November, media propaganda polls be damned!
If you can do it "flip" as many liberal/socialists along the way as possible, I can already take credit for five and one a week is all it takes from here on out.
Friends don't let friends vote for Marxists and November is about the continuing existence of the constitution!
Here we go again…….ewww in your face ugly, mean spirited, and arrogant. No brainer, right?
WRONG! This man has been elected to congress EVERY TIME HE RAN SINCE 1974. Hello. Someone in his district likes him. A lot of someones. Enough someones to send him back term after term.
Maybe they're dumber than dirt.
Maybe they're all illegals
Maybe they're bein paid with pork
Maybe he throws free beer busts for them around election time
WHATEVER……the voters in his district, the people he's elected to REPRESENT SEEM TO LIKE HIM.
God how we hate Pelosi.
Most of us want her to go away forever
Some folks wish she'd get hit by a bus
UNFORTUNATELY FOR US….HER CONSTITUENTS LIKE HER. They want her in gov't. She says what the majority of them want said, does what they want done, and believes….or PRETENDS TO what they believe. She represents them.
POS politicians are only PART of the equation. Those who vote for them term after term are the other part. And that is not a PROBLEM if they are doing what constituents want them to do.
It is REPRESENTATIVE government.
It sux but how else do you explain the Rangles, Murthas, Hillmans, Reids, and a host of other creeps….who win every election held in their districts and states……for decades?
More to the point…..
would you toss out the Constitution for a crack at preventing this type of "unpleasant" outcome?
Maybe ol' Pete has an upcoming appointment with John Murtha's doc.
If all these corrupt, econ101 challenged, politicians, like stark, Pelosi, Boxer, are not thrown out of office in November, then there REALLY is NO hope for us here in the formally "Golden State"…
As we continue the downward spiral , and no change in course is in the works, then in 10 years or less, only these worthless politicians and the illegals will be left…
That's one "messenger" it safe to kill….
or at least "pull the plug" on…

TStomp
When you rob Perter to pay Paul,
you can pretty much count on Paul's vote…
Lot of Congressmen that need the plug pulled on their life support.
I hope people like stark just keep on talking. In this day and age of YouTube, undoubtably videos like this will be showing up in campaign ads. Kinnda makes those shiney, polished stump speeches a lot less persuasive.
Well then everybody named Peter needs to move into his district and vote him out. Otherwise these Pauls seem likely to keep sendin him back for more loot.
I don't see any other Constitutional solution.
Maybe with this video out some Peter will decide to challenge him….though I expect when he talks to them like Chris Christie…they'll run screamin back to their "Robbin Hood" for the next fix of "other folks' money."
Here in CA, we've been aware of this asshat Stark for many years…
.But the level of economic ignorance and galling condescension is utterly striking…
We need to put the "Peter Principle" to work big time…
… hoping he'll want to spend "more time" with his great grand children…
Next on the agenda is carbon. California wants to ban breathing on Saturdays and Sundays to reduce carbon emmissions. (If this sounds funny thing of All the things California has already banned.)
Just pull the lever and FLUSH CALIFORNIA once and for all!
These Marxist will eventually turn against the Press too, but they are too enamored to see it comming. They ALWAYS turn, can never be trusted…
I just wish there would have been even one non-metrosexual man in that crowd that would have given him a snoot full of knuckles! I guess when you are drowning in political correctness, the first two things to go are your pride and your spine.
Hey. If I were at that meeting, you guys would be taking up a collection for my bail right now! I would have took him to school on the REAL meaning of contempt!
Even if you like your Democrat rep, even if he is "Good", every democrat you vote for is a vote for Pelosi and Reid, it's' where they get thier power. VOTE AGAINST ALL DEMOCRATS AND RINOs.
Damn right Mike!
Well. No wonder the the MSM is a bunch of spineless Weigels. Our elected officials are thugs. If there wasn't a camera on Stark he might have 'gone postal' on Jan Helfeld.
Okay Pete Stark. You went to MIT. Helfeld went to U. of Puerto Rico. It doesn't take a genius to ridicule someone for not going to MIT. It takes a genius to explain how increased debt make one wealthier. Ahhhhh. That's it.
What Pete Stark meant to say is that increased government debt MAKES HIM WEALTHIER not the country wealthier. Hey Stark. YOU GET THE **CK OUT thug. And we are supposed to rely on Weigel to question this guy? Why not send in Pee Wee Herman to ask OJ Simpson about double homicides?
Hats off to Helfeld. He asked the questions. He didn't get the answers but the people of California can clearly see that a degree from MIT doesn't infer that they deliver men of virtue. IN Stark's case they delivered a corrupt coward .
The comtempt these politicians have for their constituents is beyond the pale. It seems there are examples of it every day. Obama talks down to the masses in his immigration speech yesterday. The long record of Stark. Pelosi is constantly doing it, including the health care letter she and Hoyer authored earlier this year. Then there's Reid, Waxman, Frank, etc. The list goes on. I'm sure there are Repubs that do it too, but I'll admit a bias. These clowns have forgotten to whom they report. Hey idiots, your constituents are your bosses.
General McChrystal got canned for far less. Hey Andrew, use all your media tools and make a montage of these arrogant bastards and make a comparison to the words of McChrystals staff. (Don't get me wrong, unfortunately the General needed to resign. But these asshats need to go too.)
The voters of this fool's district need to *fix* this problem. His contempt for the people of his district should be played in a loop over and over and over on cable.
Perhaps ACORN has been over voter registration in this district? POLL WATCHERS NEEDED
I am not normally for public hangings, but I can think of one being in order for people like Stark.
Just remember, Tom Daschle thought he was invulnerable, too. And a newcomer beat him. All it takes is the will and the right political environment. And believe me, THIS YEAR is the right political environment. Unless the Republicans really mess this up, they are going to win big. I just hope and pray most of them, if not all of them, are real conservatives.
Hope he has prostrate trouble.
He is and always will be a sedionist traitor. He is an enemy of freedom and should be treated as such. Kick him to the curb but make sure the curb is not damaged.
In a more rational time, Pete Stark would have been tarred and feathered and run out of town.
He is a contemptible bastard. And once you discover the true depths of his distain for his constituents and the rule of law, you will vomit.
Stark is not even a resident of the district he's supposed to represent. He lives in a $1.75 million waterfront mansion in Maryland. He takes a homeowner's tax credit on the property, which is only available to Maryland residents.
Stark claims he lives in a home in his district, which is actually his wife's parents house. Neighbours state that Stark doesn't live there and never even has visit the house. Of course the House Ethics Committee cleared him.
He's insulted colleague regularly. He called a congresswoman a whore. Claimed that J. C. Watts children were born out of wedlock. He regularly claims that Republicans and any one else who votes against him are evil and want to kill children.
Why does he get voted in over and over and over again. Simple, the district was created for him. The district is majority black and latino. It contains huge numbers of illegal aliens, who doubtless in violation of the law vote for him. It also has a huge number of welfare recipients.
Why does he piss all over middle class taxpaying voters? Because they don't and won't vote for Stark and he doesn't need them to win.
There is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. There are growing numbers of Asian, especially those from India, moving into his district. They are predominately college educated, conservative, home owners, very entrepreneurial and becoming politically active.
So would the rest of the country.
Stark gives douchebags a bad name
Why not, he's a prick.

The only thing that this political thug demonstrates is that having a good formal academic education does not prove that one has any real world practical wisdom. It is truly astonishing that, apparently, NO ONE in the statist "liberal" side of the media would challenge Stark on his incredibly arrogant . . . and downright stupid . . . claim that the more debt a country has, the wealthier it is. DEBT . . . and the interest it collects . . . is an OBLIGATION . . . a claim AGAINST one's own assets. It is NOT an asset in itself. Stark was formerly a banker, yet he does not seem to understand that simple principle. He claims that government debt is not the same as personal debt. Maybe it's not . . . . in the universe that he is from. Is he from an ALTERNATIVE universe where all the rules of common sense are the opposite of our own? It is WE, the INDIVIDUAL taxpayers, who are ultimately responsible for the "government" debt that he and other statist demagogues have foisted upon us.
The very fact that this despicable excuse for a man has falsely claimed residency in the district he is supposed to represent, and then tries to skirt around the tax laws in the state in which he actually resides, is, at the very least, an indication of lawbreaking and corruption. What more would be revealed if an intrepid investigative journalist REALLY took the time to investigate Stark's private financial dealings?
