Michael Kinsley, the former editor of Slate, once defined a gaffe as what happens when a politician inadvertently blurts out the truth. But what about when a card-carrying member of the MSM does the same thing?
David “advisor to presidents” Gergen is perhaps the most conventional of the conventional-wisdom purveyors in Washington. To paraphrase Mary McCarthy on Lillian Hellman, every word that comes out of his mouth is a cliche, and that includes “the,” “but,” and “and.” Almost nothing he says is ever original, insightful or thoughtful, although he delivers his empty phrases in a professorial honk that seems to convey authority. If you want to know what everybody else within the Beltway is thinking, Dave is your go-to guy.
So that’s why this clip from last night’s debate between Scott Brown and Martha Coakley, competing in a special election next week for the open Massachusetts Senate seat, and moderated by Gergen, is fascinating. Watch it first, then we’ll discuss:
It’s not the Kennedy’s seat, and it’s not the Democrats’ seat. It’s the people’s seat.
If, against overwhelming odds, given Massachusetts’ political proclivities (number of Republicans in the state’s congressional delegation: zero), Brown can wrest the open Senate seat from Ted Kennedy’s cold, dead hands, he’s not only going to send a message to the nation that Obamacare is doomed, and probably the Democrats next fall as well. He’s also sending a message to the Democrat-Media Complex.
Note how easily Gergen reached back for what he thought was a blazing fastball — “You’re going to sit in Teddy Kennedy’s seat!” — and discovered that it was a hanging curve that Brown knocked over the Green Monster at Fenway, where it’s still bouncing around somewhere on the Mass Pike.
But that is how these people think: it’s Kennedy’s seat. That’s the narrative. But for the first time in half a century, the media’s wishing it were so may not make it so.
In fact, it’s not Kennedy’s seat. Currently, it belongs to this guy (D – Flunky), who was appointed as a desperation fill-in after the demise of the Lion of the Senate and after the Democrats slammed through a change in the law that allowed soon-to-be-former Gov. Deval Patrick to appoint an emergency placeholder to vote for the health-care bill. Mission accomplished, Sen. Kirk is now retiring, with the thanks of a grateful Massachusetts Machine.
Isn’t democracy grand?

Corruption with a capital C
You can say one thing for sure and that is that Brown can think of his feet!
Once again a democrat is using Sharia-like tactics to intimidate opponents into falling into line! Thank God He didn't buy it! BURN!!! Love it.
This is another theme that needs to start making it's way through the Tea Party/912 Machines.
These seats are the people's seats!!!!!!!!!
To many that currently use these chairs think they get to keep them.
Thank you scott brown we have your back
John S.
I am sorely tempted to donate to Brown's campaign and I live in California. This seems like an incredible opportunity to turn the health care bill back.
I wonder how many times we''ll see this clip in the media?
Listening to David Gergen is akin to getting your gums scraped.Dave's ability to speak at length without saying anything is his most striking attribute.Gergen tossed lollipop questions to Coakley while trying to "MSM" Brown which is why he was there in the first place.Coakley was trying to hide from the debate from the get go which is probably why Brown had to accept this hack as moderator.
When a politician says what's on his mind, they call it a "gaffe". When someone from the MSM says what's on their mind, they call it "news".
Dont be sorely tempted, "just do it". I did and I live in PA. Let's tell Congress and the Pres what we think of their policies and behavior.
One last point, I would like to here the simply solutions that would effect cost and other issues come from canidates like scott brown. For example: When a canidate is asked a question about health, Brown, in addition to what he did say, should add something simple like. We all want reform and there is plenty of low hanging fruit that could be dealt with on a case by case basis. We could pass a law on tort reform and another law on cross state competition. This would simplify the process and let all senators focus on each issue on it own merrits. More complex issues the point could be "yes I understand you will have to address mulitple issues in other laws but at least we started to move forward and we have reduced the number of issues we have to deal with, and can now focus on the more difficult concerns……..". then name a couple. Please get this message out i. John S
Gergen is yesterday's news.
Brown's got the headlines now.
when i first saw this clip I thought the questioner was the third-party candidate in the debate. NOT the moderator. a further retort from Brown might have been: "…and thank you for being open about your bias/objectivity."
Absolutely BRILLIANT comeback Mr. Brown! With any luck, you will be on your way to D.C. and the next head to roll in Massachusetts, will be Barney Fife, I mean Frank.
Mary Jo Kopechne began laughing her a$$ off up in heaven, on hearing Mr. Browns snappy comeback.
Not Over.
Soros is sending in the big guns to make sure Scott Brown doesn't win this seat.
If this is a close election it will go the way of 'Al Franken'.
The Democratic Underground are asking for donations for Coakley. Check it out:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/dubo...
I think we should be doing the same for Scott Brown.
Ahh Soros….the human skidmark on the underwear of society.
Everyone here should also be aware of his project to elect leftist Secretaries of State in every state so they can "protect" the election, and by "protect" they mean "throw it to the Democrat".
Here it is – http://www.secstateproject.org/
Wow. Just … wow. What a great moment in verbal butt-kick history. This guy has to win the election multiple times in order to actually take that 'people's seat' since he has to get the majority on election day, then win all the bogus lawsuits the dems will throw out and THEN win the bogus recounts the dems will demand immediately.
But regardless of whether or not the dems steal this election, we will see Scott Brown again.
And it was at that moment that David Gergen realized that he was no longer relevant any more, nor had he been for some time now. The despondency must be crushing.
Thanks LtCol. Brown for taking full advantage of that hanging curve Gergen threw out there, as well as for your service.
Serra, I live in California, and i just donated to Brown, his seat affects the whole nation. Go to his website and contribute.
Brown raised $1.3 million…TODAY ALONE! The beauty of this is that there an awful lot of Democrat voters in Massachusetts who are hurting right now. Before they lay you off, they don't ask whether you're a Republican or Democrat. So right now, these people are–perhaps for the first time–seeing that single-party Democrat rule doesn't ELEVATE anyone; it brings everyone DOWN.
Absolutely donate some bucks immediately! Even just $20. I've given twice now ( more than 20 each time ) and I've sent money to other conservatives around the country that have come to my attention that are running for reelection or first-time out, but none are in my home state (TX). I feel it's one sure thing we can all do to help out and overcome the Dem's machine. It's not a sure-thing obviously and it may be money out the window, but it does help and it makes campaigns competitive . If people think a candidate has a chance, they'll start to pay attention… and that's what it takes. Money pouring into a campaign makes news and can thwart the MSM and dem-machine talking points.
From what I have seen Brown cleaned the clock of this dimwit. Everyone should donate to Brown, and send a message on Obama and Obamacare in particular!
I will be surprised if the Acorn/SEIU/Dem machine doesn't pull out all the stops to pull whatever they can to keep this seat…. however , in our favor is, they thought this was an easy seat so I'm guessing, they have to have been caught flat footed and are now in a race against time to get people there on the ground to stuff the ballot boxes by next week. These elections are usually fraudulent in absentee voting and I doubt the Dems were/are ready for the surge this late. We'll see.
I have recently become aware of this myself. Thank you for the link for it is something I want to study up on and work against in my own state, which has had elections stolen by the Dems.
Love your description of Soros, very apropo!
My wife and I did and we live in Nebraska.
I live in Texas, I gave what I could… twenty bucks. It's OK, they'll take it.
I live in California and I donated several days ago. Go for it! It's your money, spend it on those you think will do the job as proscribed in the Constitution. I never donate to the Party anymore. I give to individuals of MY choosing!
Obviously the GOP establishment thought it was a safe seat, too. What a screw-up all the way around.
I really want Coakley to lose. What a horrible, nasty person she is. We do NOT need her in any capacity that will give her a say over what happens in all states.
I hope you're right about the dems being caught flat footed. The Republicans (not the establishment, but the real ones) should be out in force, monitoring the goings on of ACORN/SEIU. They'll be sloppy if they're panicked and in a rush. Could be a good chance to clean their clock before the biggie in November.
Great article, Michael. Dennis Prager, is discussing this, "It's the People's Seat" clip right now. Beautiful.
Watched the debate on CSPAN last night…Mr. Brown cleaned Coakley's clock. Still, anyone who can send a buck or two, to Brown's campaign, should do it. Today. The DNC, SEIU, and other assorted types are rallying around Coakley big time. This will be a major victory for our country if Scott Brown can pull off the upset. Huge.

Get on the horn…call your family and friends in MA…tell them to get out there, Jan.19th…VOTE Scott Brown, U.S. Senate.
[...] [...]
I live in CA. sent my check in yesterday morning. Just do it. Scroll down to read my post. Link is there. Thanks.
The Kennedy's can't go away fast enough, IMHO. This is a democratic republic last time I checked, and we have no need for "camelot" and "dynasties". Give that seat back to the people.
Everyone, if you can…please send a small contribution to Brown. This is so close to becoming reality. If you can, please help him. Thank you.
Scott Brown is a Patriot…!
And…He has no mob ties, that we know of anyway!!!
I'm from Brown's district and that was the best line I heard in long time. I believe he will take the people's seat and give it some respect.
From that moment politicians are on notice, those seats belong to the people,,,not professional politicians…..
Vote the Bums out.
2010,2012 and on…………let's roll
Nike commercial…
"Just do it"…
$20.00 from the high plains of New Mexico…besides, my Mom is from Webster, MA…
And if the RNC doesn't run ads showing all those desks and chairs in the Senate, with the words "The people's seats…", Steele is a bigger fool than even I think…
Remember…polls have about NINE Senate seats that may be in play…swing that, and the statist libs will be positively apoplectic…just before the heads explode…
And when Brown wins, we have to have him walk in to the Senate and proclaim his readiness to be sworn in…let the statists deny him his right to be seated live on CSPAN…and nail the coffin of the libs in the Congress shut…
That was a very nice metaphor Michael. I’m willing to bet large, this clip will live long as a 'classic' in the annals of gotcha moments. I sincerely hope it goes viral and helps to propel Mr. Brown into the 'peoples seat'.
I'm hoping for a shot of that shameless hack Gergin's face as he realized Brown was putting both cheeks into it.
All of the Brown commercials, I hope…Alinsky rules…target, isolate, and polarize, or some such thing…
I agree…
I'm with you on the GOP. They've dropped the ball, what, twice now? It shows we've got an uphill battle getting them out of their normal thinking on who to support and what seats to fight for. I really want Coakley to lose too. Go Brown, Go!
That's just wrong. Barney Fife is a likeable and ethical guy. Barney Frank is a pervert and thief.
The first name is all these two have in common.
Hoo-ah, DaDDy!
Might as well kick them in the scrote while they're down…
Teddy being "waterboarded" down in the infernal regions, with a slowly dripping bottle of gin just out of reach…heard that, and knew a Repub of the people would sit in his seat longer than he did…and 'Ol Scratch made him swallow it when he wanted to puke…
Fortunately, ACORN has had a real cash-flow problem lately, and their friendly bought Brooklyn judge acted too late to refill their slush funds for the Mass election.
Great article, Mr. Walsh…
You may single-handedly bring back the fedora…
Massachusetts has the opportunity to set off a political earthquake. Do it.
Not sure if it's true or not, but it seems plausible: There is a desperate shortage of women's makeup in Massachusetts at the moment; Martha Coakley bought it all to use last night.
Oh yeah!
I just love it when anyone – I don't care who – sticks it right back in a liberal's smarmy face.
Smells like victory.
If you don't want to donate money, how about time? He's looking for volunteers to run virtual phone banks from their computers.
http://www.brownforussenate.com/
Have a look, get involved, and let's start rolling this death panel back to the swamp it came from!
Serra, I live in Missouri and I contributed, we are learning that the Senators in Massachuttes can have a huge effect on Missouri, and the Representative from San Francisco can sink our whole country! Give, give!
It all ads up.
Screw the lame-stream media, send the youtube link to every one you know. We'll get it out on our own.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJEEQHOnI2Q&fe...
Put it on face book, email it, let the voters see what the MSM doesn't want them to see.
Just do it!
The American people are waking up to just what Soros wants for America, and we are rejecting it. If not in Massachuttes this time, we are learning…I had never heard of him, Cloward-Piven, and the rest of the Progressives/Marxists until Obama came to power, now we are learning fast!
I live in Arizona and although I couldn't donate much, I gave $100 to his campaign. As I told him in a note "this isn't just a state issue, it's a national issue."
Gergen is an inside the Beltway statist, who tows the line for the progressives which ever party. Way to handle the question Mr. Brown, as was stated, over the Green Monster indeed!
Amen! And I let the RNC, NRCC, and the NRSC know it too. Donate to individuals up. It's time for the people to take it back. Bottom-up, not top-down.
David Gergen or trip to the periodontist… your choice! LOL!
I love the "new media"!! They, the lamestream media and pols everywhere, can no longer hide. I bet good 'Ol boy" teddy is turning in his grave (they did bury him didn't they…not burn him?) at the thought that there are actual American citizens that do not believe the bull put out by him, his family and minions. I am thankful I have lived to see it….I remember that poor girl and the subsequent science reports that said she probably live almost 2 hours after Ted left her in the car.

Go to his web site, he's soliciting volunteers to work virtual phone banks from their home computers. You can do it from anywhere in the country.
I donated, I live in NJ.
I don't think it really matters if Brown loses or not at this point. He's already scared the hell out of the dems just by still being in the race.
That is not supposed to happen to "Kennedy's seat."
That is why I quit watching many of the Sunday news shows. They will take decipticons like Gergen, Brooks, etc and pretend they represent the conservative point of view. If you are going to use a Dem-lite Republican represent the conservative point of view, just have a panel full of Democrats!
Simply: Art.
You know he had that one in the holster just waiting! Nice to see a politician understand what being an ELECTED official is all about – doing the People's work. Let's hope the sentiment isn't lost, should he find himself in the Senate.
Ain't democarcy grand…..We have the same type of stooge occuyping "Barack Obama's seat"… If only we could have had a special election….Shame on all of us in Illinois for allowing this to happen. This is on top of the shame of having our "favorite Son" occupy the White House. (God, I wish he ran from another state…) Barack's legacy is going to be harder to live down than Al Capone's….
"Almost nothing he says is ever original, insightful or thoughtful, although he delivers his empty phrases in a professorial honk that seems to convey authority."
Perfect description of Gergen. Must be a great gig – get paid big bucks to repeat what the cool kids are saying.
"trying to 'MSM' Brown"
I believe the term is "trying to 'Macaca' Brown".
I was thinking exactly just that. Try to picture Obama returning fire at that rate and with that accuracy… I couldn't.
Scott Brown should be the next Republican candidate for president….impressive guy.
Maybe the kool-aid in the Mass. drinking water is going bad. We can only hope Brown takes the "people's seat". As for Gergen….. nice attempt but that was an EPIC FAIL.
Thank you Scott Brown, and good luck! I hope you win.
This is asking for donations. We don't need anyone to shill for the decent candidates. We simply post things that show the truth. Plenty of commentors have already chimed in about sending money to this or that candidate of their own volition. The Bigs just need to keep popping up the truth and covering those the MSM ignores.
Scott has really scared the CRAP out of Boston and Washington. Here's to Scott's victory!
DANGER ! DANGER ! DANGER ! Folks, keep in mind that a Scott Brown victory will result in the longest certification process in the history of the Commonwealth. It'll make the Franken/Coleman election certification process (roughly eight months) seem like a "Weekend at Bernie's."
One must always be watchful these scoundrels.
The people of Mass. have always elected the corrupt Kennedys and liberals. They are just as morally bankrupt as the politicians they elect and send to Congress. Mass could fall in the ocean for all I care.
Have no doubt that Coakley will win this election. ACORN is getting out the vote, and has untold thousands of dead or imaginary (Mickey Mouse, anyone?) people who have already voted for her. And AG Holder is busing, no, make that limousining – the black terrorists from that Philadelphia polling place up to Massachusetts to make sure they know how to do it right. I understand he has even given them free rein to waddle through BATF's warehouses to make sure they have the capability to properly "defend" themselves against the hateful whiteys that might not vote for Martha. Once again, the stench is overwhelming. And you heard it here first. If this makes it through Breitbart censors, that is. Can't offend the wrong people.
'It’s not the Kennedy’s seat, and it’s not the Democrats’ seat. It’s the people’s seat.'
This line gave me chills. Good luck – I hope you win.
To Steve: I too live in CA and donated to Mr. Brown. As did my father and three friends. Get after it. If for nothing else, the bit of irony that healthcare may be stopped by a guy in Teddy's old seat….
Actually, he's been using the line for a while, but it was the perfect place for it this time.
I live in Illinois (Bammy's home state) and sent Brown 2 donations. I agree with GACE to donate to the individuals, to make certain the candidate I choose gets the support.
Love to make the Dems sweat.
I would agree to keeping it the "John F. Kennedy" seat.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iddquwGpXM0
Scott Brown seems to be an honorable, thoughtful, intelligent, knowledgable, and quick-on-his-feet candidate, something the Republican party is aching for right now. And, speaking from the trained eye of an All-American female: he's also gorgeous. Am I right, ladies?
I live in MN (we have two hopeless cases in the Senate that can't be reached). I donated after doing a bit of research to make sure it was a cause I wanted to support. Folks, if you want change you have to give time, money, or other resources. Go now.
http://www.brownforussenate.com/
I just sent him $20. Hope it helps.
Deval was Axelrod's test rocket for the Obama run. He even had them say identicle phrases and simular speeches.
Axelrod is EVIL personified – a political hack from hell.
thus breaking a multi-decade "tradition" relative to this seat…
aharris, I am not sure what you mean by this statement.
…..And twist the knife a bit. When you send in your donation, (snail mail), to Brown, cc the competition.
Your words are so true. Unfortunately we have seen this play out the way you describe to many times. We need to be on our knees for a positive outcome.
Scott Brown, the winner of Cosmo's 1982 "World's Sexiest Man" competition (nudity, but no genitals exposed):
http://www.cosmopolitan.com/celebrity/news/scott-...
I'd shudder if Ted ever did anything like this…
Didn't you ever see the picture of Ted a couple of years ago out sailing? He looked like a walrus–except worse.
You paint a very compelling and pleasent image old boy.
Not Over.
Just sent $s from Oregon.
DONATE! I l don't live in Mass. either but this is a big blow to the Dems if they lose this seat. I mean, it was "Teddy's Seat!" I gave a few bucks. Even if it's only $10, let's send the Dems a message AND the RNC that we are tired of them backing idiots like that chick in New York.
Maybe the people of Mass. can storm their capitol if that happens and take no prisoners. Time to clean the stench of Democrats out anyway,
I think we've just seen it. ALL the times we will.
Although Drudge has it, and it will probably get some decent play on Fox.
Did he just win right there?
Today, while she was in Washington visiting with lobbyists and special interest groups looking for handouts, her campaign (hijacked by the DNCC, just now realizing it's a race) released an attack ad denouncing… wait for it… Scott Brown's support from Tea Party activists. They spout the usual liberal bile about us being radical, etc. I wear it as a badge of honor. That's exactly how the Crown viewed my forefather's 237 years ago, when they dumped Earl Grey into Boston Harbor! I felt a shiver a pride wind up my spine as I drove to work today, knowing how proud those men would be to see us taking on the Boston establishment once again. These Beacon Hill tyrants of today are behaving just as their British brethren those many years ago, and they are foolishly making the same mistakes. Let them label us as radicals, I am proud to bear the title knowing that in one week we here in Boston have a chance to fire another "Shot Heard Round the World," only this time it will be the "Scott Heard Round the World!"
Hey, love all the BIG support rolling in, gang. Keep it up! I've been a Masshole my entire life, never voted democrat mostly due to my unconventional nature, but then I grew up a saw all the corruption around me. Coakley is a hack's hack, hiding behind her gender and her liberal pedigree. She is arrogant, condescending, entitled, and frankly, unlikable.
She touts her record of holding certain entities "accountable." They include all the usual liberal boogey-men: banks, insurance companies, and of course, wall street. One group conspicuously absent from this list is government. In Massachusetts, there is no shortage of political corruption, and Coakley, as atty general, has been slow to act against the political machine here. When she does "investigate" political corruption, it is half-hearted and produces limited results. Not one government official, union contractor, or construction company member faced justice in the $15 billion boon-doggle known as the Big Dig, despite Martha patting herself on the back for holding those people "accountable."
I urge readers of all the BIG sites to visit http://www.bostonherald.com/ and look at the picture of the two candidates, and tell me Martha Coakley doesn't fit the typical liberal suit: that arrogant, condescending look on her smug entitled face says it all. "How dare, Scott Brown, challenge me for this seat!" Also, while you're at the Herald website, check out the unlimited stories of Beacon Hill corruption. OUR LAST THREE HOUSE SPEAKERS ARE CONVICTED FELONS!! Yes, you read that correctly, and Coakley looked the other way on all of them.
The American revolution began in my backyard, and I am immensely proud of that. Just as I am ashamed that this once great state has been politically useless ever since. We have a chance to prove once again that Massachusetts patriots, when sufficiently pushed, can radically alter the direction of this nation. It is the chance some of us having been waiting a life time for.
I live in LA and feel so powerless to change what's happening in DC that the only thing I COULD do was donate! I can't just sit on the sidelines and wait for the "Hope & Change" to to damage this country beyond repair. This senate seat could just be the turning point to bring us back from the brink. The fact that the dems refer to it as "Kennedy's" seat would make it even sweeter still. Keep your eyes peeled for Acorn and friends showing up with a trunk load of "missing" ballots! This is a very important week coming up. I think that Brown should turn down any GOP money if they ever get around to offering any. He's doing just fine by himself, with the help of his opponent of course. She couldn't even spell her home state correctly in one of her attack ads. What a tool!
He looks like a leader to me.
"God works in mysterious ways"!! I know what revelations are coming, maybe this guy can put them off for another 15 years!!! I'm more worried about what these agenda driven psychopaths are conjuring behind their locked doors than I am about the care of my health, in fact they are harming my health by stressing me so much, the "Dread factor" is almost overwhelming!!!!!!!! The more government gets involved in "Health care" the higher the cost goes, the expense of a parasite organization must be added to the cost of essential care!!! How much government bureaucracy do YOU want to add to your final bill, just because you felt ill?
This fellow seems pretty fast on his feet. His comeback to Gergen was instantaneous and spot on! Massachusetts ought to elect him, if for no other reason than to have a quick-witted dude with a firm grasp on the principles of democracy represent them in the Senate.
The good people of Mass might want also a breather from royal rule too. I can think of few things that would irritate me more than to live in a state manipulated by a clan with a sense of entitlement to my vote.
"Kennedy Seat," indeed! Snort!
Didn't Kennedy's opponent in his first senatorial election say "If his name was 'Edward Moore,' instead of 'Edward Moore Kennedy,' he couldn't be elected."?
One more thing irritates the hell out of me about this clan, and I'm RC so don't accuse me of bigotry. The three brothers all rest in what is probably the most primo location at Arlington. JFK probably merits a prominent location, but his brothers? What gives them the right to a grave high above the acres of fallen heroes, many of whom gave their lives or their health through wounds, to earn the honor of an Arlington burial in an anonymous row of headstones. Neither one of them ever saw a battlefield.
But but but — they're American Royalty!
Go for it!
Human skidmark! AWESOME!
I posted last week (?) that the Dems are already scheming in case this gets to close for comfort.
We need leadership that will make a thorough investigation of the "Human Skidmark" and expose all of his nefarious dealings.
"Skidmark" – I love it, I can't stop laughing. Nail on the head!
Serra, ABSOLUTELY DO IT! I live in Alaska and have never donated to a political campaign in my life, but have now donated twice to Scott Brown's campaign. This race in Mass. matters hugely to all Americans. The Brown campaign ran a grassroots Moneybomb effort yesterday that raised twice what they hoped for, and donations came from all over the county. People were sending in amounts like $17.76 and $41 (for the 41st vote in the Senate). Any amount helps, and it feels so good to do it! The huge response to the moneybomb and Brown's stellar performance in the debate with Coakley last night have the dimocrats shaking down to their toes. So send them what you can and help give Scott the best chance possible to garner the independent vote before Jan. 19th. The link is here: http://www.brownforussenate.com/red-invades-blue
I'm damned quick, if I do say so myself, and I wouldn't have been able to come up with the excellent rejoinder a la Mr. Brown. That was great on Brown's part (and, as the article points out, revealing of Gergen's plodding, yet consistent thinking).
You seem to be missing the bigger picture here. Health care reform has virtually nothing to do with health care. That's just the vehicle being used to push through the acquisition of 1/6th of the American economy.
Can you imagine the power that will come with having the authority to dispense that amount of money? Think of all the votes they can buy with that.
I'm from Utah, and I contributed as much as I was comfortably able to. I think this is a wonderful man with positions similar to my own, and I hope and pray that he gets elected. He's exactly what this country needs right now.
Excuse me let me be clear. I loathed lifeguard Teddy all of his political career. The evidence is too numerous and well documented. However as a patrician elite, good old Teddy would not agree politically with Brown.
BUT he'd likely agree on principle. It is the people's seat. He'd disagree just which people should be sitting in it.
It's just that Teddy thought he was doing the people's business. Taking care of them, as they weren't too bright and wouldn't do a very good job of it. As the patrician, liberal elite, he was entitled to see to it that every servant got their two changes of clothing and their meals every year. He didn't understand that He was the Servant to the People.
Do so. I live in the next state over from you and I've donated twice. This is an important race. F
Undoubtedly she figured that looking better would give her the edge. Hell, it worked for Jack Kennedy.
Hey, I live in California and I donated $50! Just do it!
A local (WLSAM) radio show mentioned a Brown commercial a couple of weeks ago, which cracked me up (and tempted me to move to Mass. just so I could vote for him): The ad features JFK giving a "I'll cut takes to kick-start job creation…" speech, and the film shot of Kennedy morphs into Brown, who continues and finishes the JFK speech. Reportedly, the ad infuriated the Mass Dems and the Kennedy family. Heh.
I just donated to Scott Brown's race – He is a Patriot! Refreshing come back to the drone of the tiresome debate moderator. Now we need a few patriots like that to run against Chuck Schumer and Gillibrand in New York!!!
That's what I thought. There is something JFK Jr about him…
I did contribute money to Scott Brown's campaign though I live in North Carolina, and urge everyone who recognizes what an opportunity his candidacy presents to do the same. Remember the $1.3 million his campaign raised in one day came from people like us, small donations .. and Brown needs some money to cope with the likes of the SEIU's $600,000 contribution yesterday. Time to put our money where our hearts are!
Hilarious!
Isn't there a 700-some billion dollar federal slush fund for this sort of thing?
Candidate Brown is just what is needed, fresh air. As a reminder to the seat holder in the senate and congress, perhaps each state should hold a state constitutional confrence to put their elected officials that go to DC on the state payrolls and benefit packages. How in the name of sanity did these pompus fools get to be Federal Employees?
Chuck DeVore came up here to Northern California last year and the impression he left at the meeting was that he was all about himself–his ego was bigger than his chances to unseat Boxer. With that attitude, he would be corrupted immediately by Washington and not do California any good.
Are you going to register as a democrat for the primary? I have. The only way to get Boxer out is beat her in the primary. I don't think she can be beaten in the general there are too many folks in CA who vote for their party like it's a sports team. Get all your friends, neighbors etc. to support whatever dem challenges Boxer in the primary. And, even if she wins the primary, at least you'll have the satisfaction of voting againts her twice.
With his teleprompter, he could
i saw somewhere that Gergen admitted he'd been "stuffed". His shirt already was. Think how the odds are stacked against Brown – a debate in the Kennedy building for the Kennedy seat being held by Kennedy's aid, in a state corrupted by Kennedy greed where Republicans hold no national office and only 10% of the state offices. Yet Brown has assembled an army of volunteers, has raised money through the Internet from normal people, and talks like one of us. Gergen had no clue what he was dealing with. And try as he did, he couldn't make Coakley look interesting as she told us there are no terrorists in Afghanistan and we can't win there, she is against the death penalty but wants to comfort us that KSM will get it anyway, thinks abortion is a treatment for rape victims, and can't explain why the national health reform is good for Massachusetts when we already have 98% of the people covered. Then she goes out the next day and on her way to Washington misspells Massachusetts in her own attack ad.
I'm in California too and I sent $$$$ to scott brown. Look at the bigger picture and the implications. Now in California, I would ask folks to consider donating to Chuck DeVore's senate campaign. He's a true conservative. I know because he's my state assemblyman with an impressive voting record. Our focus out here is to unseat that arrogant, self-serving twit Barbara Boxer. Chuck has an opponent in the repub primary. Carly Fiorina (definitely not conservative although she tries to portray that image). Check out chuck. He's also on facebook.
Serra, I am also from Utah and have donated to Scott Brown. It is my only option for contributing because they won't take your phone calls, they don't read your letters, and if you go to DC en masse…..they don't give you a glance. Donating to the RNC etc is money down a rabbit hole. Donating to an individual candidate is precise communication.
From Chris "Tingling" Matthews, to Keith Overbite, to Anderson Cooper, they all have one thing in common….an overblown opinion of their self-worth, importance, and education.
I was watching the National News last night and they were reporting on the earthquake in Haiti. There was Anderson Cooper and someone asked about aftershocks. Anderson reported that he had been talking to Meteorologists, and they were expecting more aftershocks. He didn't say it once, he said it multiple times and the talking head on the other end didn't bother to correct him.
