Is there something in the water at MSNBC that makes everybody there crazy? Morning Joe, which ought to be the premier political talk show on morning television — but won’t be until it expands its guest list beyond Mrs. Alan Greenspan, writers and editors at the New York Times and the newsweeklies, and sneering lefties like Donny Deutsch, whose claim to fame is… what, exactly? — recently witnessed this Chernobyl-style meltdown by Lawrence O’Donnell, which has to be seen to be believed:
Sure, it’s tough being on the side of the incipient losers, staring into the electoral abyss of 2010 and knowing it’s going to take a miracle to save you. But even Joe Scarborough — who normally is quick to assure his liberal guests that he’s not really that kind of conservative – couldn’t take the vicious animosity, not to mention the spectacular rudeness to one of his guests. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, if this is how MSNBC treats its conservative guests, it doesn’t deserve to have any.
Memo to MSNBC management: in the immortal words of Joseph Welch to Sen. Joseph McCarthy at the Army-McCarthy hearings:
You’ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

this is not like rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic after the iceburg, but trying to get interior decorators and a new coat of paint on the ship. then once the one end is already in the water, getting ropes to hang off the top half to keep painting. i only watch msnbc one video clip at a time, and never on tv, only in clips showing examples of what a nervous breakdown looks like.
O'Donnell is new to me, but he sure is showing the world what a bonafide leftist American is all about. He was talking over the portion of Thiessen's response, but I heard him point out several terrorist incidents, all occurring during the period when Gorelick's policies would have kept a quasi-domestic crime approach to these attacks. O'Donnell is probably too busy yelling at Thiessen, to have heard the answer, but he still seems to think he is doing his job by yelling his loaded, and very simplistic question: "Didn't Bush invite 9-11?"
O'Donnell needs to understand that the answer is ABSOLUTELY NO, NO, NO. Whether you think Bush was stupid, or that his policies AFTER 9-11 in Iraq and Afghanistan and toward, say Qaddafi were wrong, there is simply no proof whatsoever that Al-Qaeda would have behaved differently had Bush never been elected and Al Gore having, then been President, that they wouldn't simply have not done EXACTLY the same thing.

I, unfortuneately, watch both Fox and MSNBC regularly. I like Fox, but know it is skewed to a degree. It is just that, at least with Fox, they have guests on that represent the other side. In the 3 yrs of watching Olbermann regularly, I have never seen him have one guest on of the other side. Maddow has a few, occasionally, but seldom.

I think liberals are fundamentally unhappy, hateful people. Bush is the ultimate outlet for letting out the hate. Liberals are always saying that they are on the "morally right side" of the issues. I loved it. O'Donnell's questions were right on the money, and I was disappointed Joe cut him off. Thiessen is a lightweight and O'Donnell had his facts in order.

There were times about 2 years ago that I used to watch MSNBC and even enjoyed Chris Matthew's show because I was interested to hear what Pat Buchanan usually had to say. I can safely say that the last 2 years I cannot take anything on this channel for more than 5 minutes before, to quote Glenn Beck, blood starts shooing out of my eyes. Life is too short to try to really get their point of view. At least CNN presents the other side in a more reasonable manner and I can get the other side by just staying long enough on Fox and eventually they will put someone on to try to explain the position.

O'Donell is right about the Bush White House prior to 9/11. I was at the White House event where Tenet go his Freedom medal along with Tommy Franks and Bremer. I came very close to saying " You don't deserve this. You were wrong about the intel going into the Iraq war and blind to the Intel before 9/11 and thousands of Americans are dead because of it." Hi all. Some pretty interesting comments although the trolls seem to be out in force today trying to rewrite history. In any event, one commenter suggested that Comcast probably wouldn't change anything as they had gone to the Whitehouse to show their support for Obamacare. I do some slumming from time to time in the hollywood/LA blogs and the consensus seems to be that the Comcast guys care about making money and the trip to the WH was because the deal still had not gotten regulatory approval so the trip was obligatory.
The only lies I see are the ones you are spewing. The attack that occured on 9/11 had been in the works for years and Bush did keep the country attack free. I know there are many things I disagree with Bush on but his performance in that area was stellar no matter how much you worship the little Marxist in chief. I guess Joe called him a Marxist because that is just what the hell he is. Also a cry baby I might add.

The thinking is that when the deal fully goes through Zucker (NBC head) is gone and pieces of NBCU may start getting sold off. Another line of thought is that they will change MSNBC to make it more even and try for the Fox share. Right now MSNBC probably only gets the 20% of the die-hard true-believer liberals.Fox gets the more reasonable Dems, the reasonable GOP (yeah folks, there some conservatives out just as scary as the ultra left libs although they are fewer) and the Independants.
Fox gets these because overall their reporting is fair and balanced (Fox news Sunday is the best on TV and Dems scramble to get on it) and even when Beck or O'Reilly go a little off the deep end they are nowhere near as crazy as Oberman or Maddow. MSNBC and CNN in general don't even try to show journalistic even-handedness. Until they do their ratings (and profit) will remain in the toilet.
He changed his whole view in order to keep his job at MSNBC. I remember when he was running Scarborough Country and was truly conservative. But then GW became unpopular so Joe held his finger to the wind to see which way opportunity was blowing.
As for Lawrence O'Donnell…this isn't the first time he's lost his marbles. He did the same thing in an interview with John O'Neill back in 2003 while Pat Buchanan was standing in for Joe Scarborough. Lawrence is a shout down hack…no truth therefore be loud.

It is pretty easy to call someone a liar when you don't offer up facts to prove your case. In fact, Thiessen claimed we did not know who attacked us on 9/11 when we knew who it was as it was happening. Thiessen also claimed that W's policies prevented an attack in LA, a notion that has been completed debunked. It was Condi Rice who claimed that we could have never guessed that airplanes would be used when in fact, that is exactly what they were warned against. And I will never understand how anyone can claim that W kept us attack free when 9/11 actually happened.
Yeah, the 9/11 attack was in the works for years. Clinton warned about them. W ignored it.
And how is it that a duly elected President, who commanded much higher popular votes than W ever did is somehow a Marxist in chief? And when did I say I worshiped him? It wasn't that long ago that the right was claiming criticism of W was unpatriotic, yet within days of Obama taking office the right opened up on him like there was no tomorrow.

I was linked to an article that appeared in the Wall Street Journal. Gore is moving quickly past the moniker of "a simple fraud" to the realm of megalomaniacal Bond villain.
I previously had no knowledge that he was even in this business. It just keeps on coming, doesn't it? I now have more fuel for my anti Gore rants. I live in LA and you can imagine what I have to see and listen to out here. Mroning Joe definitely should be the best morning show on TV (sort of a low bar, anyway). Joe and Mika are both very good. Joe brings the fire, and Mika's sort of the perfect dinnerparty hostess, keeping things on an even keel and steering the conversation subtly. But their guest list is nigh uniformly awful. Get a little balance in there, and it'd be must see.
