On my Twitter account, I follow a few hundred mainstream media-types (keep the enemy closer, right?), and unless I've missed it (and I hope I have), not a single one has spoken out in defense of Roland Martin. Not one. How scary is that. The politically correct Groupthink...

What an iconic image. As they would say back then, what a swell dame. Thanks Ms. Shain for being a good sport (you looked lovely, BTW) and may you R.I.P.
An Image that makes me smile each and every time I see it. A hearty High o Silver to all involved in protecting this country.
A time when men were men, women were women, and America was great.

Probably the second most recognizable image from World War II, after the flag raising on Mt. Suribachi. Glad we didn't have todays media covering events back then, the images they'd have sought would have been those of defeat and not victory.
Bill Maher actually has the same nurse's outfit in his closet. He wears it on Saturday nights for different reasons.
No, he wears it to pick up sailors in Times Square too.
Couldn't agree with you more on both counts if I tried.
My Mom was a nurse during the war years I always acussed her of being the one in the photo at which my dad, who would have been in europe on this particular day, would raise his eyebrows purse his lips and nod impishly. Edith thanks for all those memories doll.
Here's to Alfred Eisenstaedt, a great photographer.

I know she lived a long life, but it makes me sad to see "the greatest generation" pass on.
Edith…We hardly knew you so well….RIP..with my mom…
Lots of memories — and a sad reminder the Greatest Generation is joining the passing parade. There were more quality people around then. Once in awhile, I get this errant wish we could be a society like that again and have a media that actually stood up for this great American experience. To which the cynics would say "Good luck with that."
Requiscat in pace, Edith.
