First the unremarkable, banal, veritably quotidian spectacle of Israel’s moderate partner in peace glorifying mass murderers. Palestinian President Abbas publicly mourned the death of Munich massacre mastermind Abu Daoud. He personally honored the three terrorists who murdered Rabbi Meir Avshalom Hai, an Israeli father of seven. He repeatedly celebrated Dalal Mughrabi, who murdered 13 Israeli schoolchildren and 25 other Israeli civilians. He glorifies “resistance” and incites rioting. He peddles anti-Jewish organ theft libels and even sets up formal committees to investigate those bigoted fantasies.
The Israelis have complained to the White House about Abbas’s incitement, but these things are apparently really complicated. For instance, maybe this video was done on a greenscreen, as opposed to being a recording of an Abbas-sponsored high school graduation celebrating mass murderer. You never know:
Now the New York Times editorial from Tuesday. The NYT board engaged in a little bit of diplomatic freelancing, hoping to cajole Abbas into embracing direct peace talks. Not so much to actually make peace, of course, as much as to expose Netanyahu as the barrier to Middle East stability:
There are understandable reasons for Mr. Abbas’s reluctance. We also don’t know whether Mr. Netanyahu, a master manipulator, really wants a deal or whether his hard-line governing coalition would ever let him make one. The proximity talks — the American envoy, George Mitchell, is shuttling again this week between Jerusalem and Ramallah — don’t seem to be getting very far, although there were hints of movement on Tuesday… if Mr. Abbas is not at the table, there is no serious way of testing Mr. Netanyahu’s intentions and whether there is any real chance of peacefully achieving a Palestinian state. That is the prize Mr. Abbas may be able deliver and his rejectionist rivals — Hamas — cannot. Mr. Abbas, who has long advocated a negotiated two-state solution, is seriously wrong if he thinks his leverage — and the future of the Palestinians — is in staying on the sidelines.
What forbearance Abbas must have, to continue pursuing peace in the face of all of Netanyahu’s provocations. Just think of the psychological toll it must take, to bounce from halcyon evenings with Omar al-Bashir to grinding meetings with Israeli Jews. What a drag.
As for Netanyahu’s ostensibly hard-line coalition – which is just the NYT parroting official White House talking points – the Israeli Prime Minister and the Defense Minister are not only actually committed to a two-state solution, they’ve both personally signed over substantial portions of the West Bank to the Palestinians. Netanyahu himself handed over Hebron, Judaism’s second holiest city, as a confidence building measure.
Fast forward to today and Abbas is sponsoring Nazi-style rallies.
And – just for completion’s sake – of course Abbas doesn’t want direct talks. He sought Arab League cover for indefinitely deferring direct talks. He resisted Israeli overtures and rejected US pressure for starting direct talks.
While that was working he gloated that he was using the US to beat up Israel by proxy, an impression formed after he received initial US pledges and one which he held no doubt despite repeated protestations from Obama. As pressure mounted for him to accept direct talks, he began issuing an ever-widening list of preconditions and non-starters, a diplomatic strategy that the Palestinians have been brazenly using over and over again since at least the end of last year.
The result? AFP headlines like “Israel rejects Abbas terms for direct talks.”

I was out watering cattle yesterday and was listening to Hannity on the radio. He had a woman on and was talking about the Iman from the Mosque at Ground Zero, and Hannity asked her to denounce Hamas. She would not. All she would do, is recite her talking points, and give a speech. Hannity should have cut her off.
We are at war with Ideology.
The imom from Ground Zero is on the State Dept payroll, and we are paying for his trips to the Middle East for fundraising.
Go figure.
BTW, the NYT is anti-Semite. There is nothing the Israeli government does towards the terrorists in palestinian held territories that is ever covered in a positive light.
The US should support Israel unequivocally.
Their negotiating tactics are exactly those of Adolf Hitler. Remember those "provocations" by Czechoslovakia?
Their aims are also exactly those of Hitler. These are in fact the godchildren of Adolf, via both their own heritage (their leadership at the time of WWII) and the Reich escapees who settled there after the war.
Anyone with a murderous intent in their heart is a monster. Anyone that subscribes to an ideology that wishes to wipe a group of people from the map for any reason is equally monsterous. Every clear thinking human MUST battle against this type of evil. No exceptions!
How would you propose exterminating an Ideology?
One member at a time. This is war. Just as in war, when you are attacked, you fight back with rules of engagement that allow the peacekeepers (that's us) to go Medevil on the one's perpetrating the evil. I no longer care what the rest of the world thinks of us as a nation. Why should I or anyone care? We have done more for this world in terms of rebuilding after wars and natural disasters than anyone. What has that gotten us? The scorn of the Paki Talibs right now in their own country for attempting to help the population in their time of need dealing with the monsoons.
So, we need to reassess exactly who our allies are, Israel, Poland, Austrailia, to name the few that come to mind and support them and all US financial aide to the rest of the world can and should disappear. And to Hell with the wailing of those countries that we no longer help. They had their chance.
Just imagine a world without these radical Islamic reprobates. They will never see eye to eye with the western world. They are beyond comprimise and must be exterminated with extreme prejudice.
Amen.
Heard that in Boston stuck in traffic. Thought the exact same thing.
How did that sit with you?
What was your take on her?
If I could have reached through the radio, I'd have popper her head off like a zit.
The progressive have called this attitude "charity fatigue." I call it the last straw….
Don't think we can. But there most likely come a time when we will have to play by the same rules in order to truely combat the terror they live by. One throat at a time. Bathe the heads in the blood of pigs and they will get the message. Sounds barbaric and it's not in my nature but as long as we act with compassion and understanding we lose.
One at a time.
she, and others like her, are just the tools of the agitators…
Someone WANTS war- it will serve a whole host of agendas- and the 'Islam vs the West' is a convenient red herring. But the robbing of the middle class needs to be brought to another level, and a war would give The Powers That be cover to finish the job they started. Irradiate the middle east, raise fuel costs to astronomical levels, crash the system, reboot.
Cull the herd while your at it.
It's really that simple- and evil. Now, this can still be averted- but time is running short…
We could have saved about a TRILLION DOLLARS.
That is about what WE have spent, since the idiot Jimmah Carter allowed this disease to sprout, take root and fester.
The next time some Democrat starts espousing the platitudes and good works of Jimmah Carter, shove that down their throat, or up their ass, whichever the case may be.
That Trillion dollars spent here, in America? We would have gold lined roads, and platinum piss-pots.
You are right.
I have said this going back to the fall of the Shah of Iran, and the birth of Militant Islam. They are Barbaric, at best. They are a cultureof the blade. That is all they understand.
I advocate mass be-headings of them.
You, and everyone else can breathe a sigh of relief, regarding the fact that I am not running the show.
I am out of patience.
patience IS at a premium, Cowboy…
And the bad guys are in full panic mode because they are NOT getting their way. Seems folk like you,and that messy internet stuff is riling people up, and the sheeple compliance they expected isn't happening. People are starting to ask uncomfortable questions.
And the 'evildoers' do not have numbers on their side. Their 'minion class' is proving to be inept (bureacrats) and worthless (media), and the first responders and military can't be trusted. Ergo, the panic you are sensing. That's why the 'war' thing is being sold lock stock and barrel…
I agree with you there.
I was surfing this morning and clicked on Morning Joe to check out the enemy camp. Jim Cramer from CNBC was on, and they were talking about Wall Street bailing on the Democrats, and wanting to write fat checks to the Republicans, but they didn't know to who. They are all disenchanted with the Dems. Cramer of course hails from the belly of the beast, Goldman Sachs, but it sure was entertaining to see Joe Scarboro and the idiot Mike Barnicle setting up the advance of the Democratic abandon ship policy………..
I want a mosque… I want a Mosque ….. I WANT A MOSQUE… GIVE ME A MOSQUE.. Sure thing bub. When, the Middle East and other Muslim countries allow building Christian Churches and protecting Israel’s right to exist, all in the name of peace. Tolerance doesn’t mean stupidity unless you’re a moron liberal.
America and the world….. Against, this kind of hate filled lunacy. Smiling and dancing all the while singing about… no bragging…. about, killing innocent Israeli civilians on a bus. I guess that’s the Muslim version of motivational speech.
We saw the film footage and the dancing in the streets in gleeful orgasmic revelry on 9-11.
I’m teaching my kids the truth… no easy way of candy coating it. Evil exists.
Here's something to give you schadenfreude overload: http://www.spectator.co.uk/melaniephillips/619437...
Not that the NYT would report that in defense of women.
As for wanting war: http://www.jpost.com/MiddleEast/Article.aspx?ID=1...
Apparently Lebanon ONLY wants U.S. arms if they can use them to kill Israelis. Obviously a move for peace in the region.
plus, good friend, the market took a 250 point dump yesterday because the Fed is monitizing the debt; precisely what asshead Bernacke said he wouldn't do- and exactly WHAT the Weimar Republic did. The countries who are holding our debts (China, anybody?) know exactly what is going on, and will start dumping the trillion or so in T-notes they hold.
Deflation, followed by hyperinflation. Throw in a war in the middle east, and maybe civil unrest here- and then you'll understand WHY Pelosi and Co. don't seem to be too worried about heir jobs. They think we'll have other things occupying our time…
Makes one wonder just how active the Plunge Protection Team has been, eh?
good question…
This greatly saddens me. PM Netanyahu is a very smart man, IMO. He's no fool. He must realize that all the ploys and stratagems of the Pals are nothing but phony promises of peace. Giving away Judea-Samaria (aka "West Bank") will not solve Israel's problem with Hamas and Hezbollah. It will further weaken Israel.
I could wish Israel had annexed Judea-Samaria in 1967. Continuing to give away the farm will produce nothing but further incentive for the Palestinians to continue pressing towards their goal of eradicating the State of Israel. My hope is that Israel at some point will finally annex Judea-Samaria and correct for their failure to do this in 1967. This region is ancient Israel and provides the critical area along the Jordan valley giving Israel a defensible eastern border.
I'd really like it if conservatives who love Israel would quit referring to Judea-Samaria as the "West Bank." This is a leftist term the English suggested to Abdullah II to support his phony narrative when he annexed the region to the Arabs (you can Google this to see its factuality) and is co-opted by the Pals and leftist Israelis.
Did you notice he kept her on long enough to prod her several times to set up an interview with the main mosque developer?
That's why I think he was stringing her along. He wants access to that guy.
Backing Israel into a corner is not a good idea. They're standing strong until we can get some free market pro-democracy
politicians back in Washington to offset our Sharia president
The amusing thing is that many of them are as repulsed by Hamas as we are, but have been convinced that Hamas is part of their ideological "camp", so to speak.
They are ALL afraid of Hamas, but don't have the guts to denounce it for fear of retribution. Hamas is the same thing as Hitlers Brown Shirts, and Obama's New Black Panther Party. The enforcement arm.
Netanyahu knows that, but the NYT doesn't. They live in ivory towers. They wouldn't know the first thing about rockets flying into Manhattan.
