**Update here: Boehlert responds…
I am offering Eric Boehlert of Media Matters the easiest $100 he ever made.
All he has to do to earn the $100: unequivocally state whether James O’Keefe pretended to be a pimp at ACORN offices. If Boehlert makes the statement publicly — with no weasel-words, no two-stepping, and no qualifications — I will PayPal him $100.
Media Matters Senior Fellow Eric Boehlert
I made this offer to Boehlert on Twitter. He’s ignoring me. He even posted one Twitter message in which he said: “Leave me alone.”
Mr. Boehlert, I have you on the ropes. You think I am going to leave you alone? Have we met?
Here’s why Boehlert is ignoring me. He has spent days writing piece after piece about the Terribly Important Issue of whether James O’Keefe was dressed as a pimp at ACORN. But that is a red herring and he knows it. Because no matter how O’Keefe was dressed, he pretended to be a pimp at ACORN.
If Boehlert admits that, the trivial nature of his manufactured controversy over O’Keefe’s mode of dress will become painfully evident.
And if he wants to deny that O’Keefe posed as a pimp, let him do so clearly. And we’ll have that debate. I’d welcome it.
He won’t do either. And that’s why I feel perfectly confident that he will never act to collect the C-note I am offering — even though it would require nothing more than typing a simple 8-10 word sentence. For example, this sentence would earn Boehlert $100:
James O’Keefe did not pose as a pimp at ACORN.
That’s $10 a word! Or Boehlert could earn himself a picture of Ben Franklin with this sentence:
James O’Keefe posed as a pimp at ACORN.
That’s $12.50 a word. Does even George Soros pay that well? I ask you!
Boehlert wouldn’t even have to shave George Soros’s back!
P.S. If anyone wants to up the ante, tell me in the comments.

I believe that a troll who goes by the name of "palmtree" is secretly Eric Boehlert. Now my upping of the ante is this: $100 for one of the two sentences and additional $50 for admitting he is the troll palmtree.
God, I LOVE this SITE!!
You guys are bad! Don't you know there is no right or wrong, no lies or truth? His truth just differs from yours, in that it is more nuanced, based in "cosmic" rights that are needed to guide the dumb to a better tomorrow, for their own good! Be open minded.
more and more every day!
My jaw still drops every time I hear this "argument". An organization with close ties with Obama and the last election gets exposed as they eagerly help a pimp set up an underage prostitution ring, but the whole thing is a hoax because the pimp may or may not have dressed as a stereotypical movie pimp?
This is what a reality check bouncing looks like.
Hey, isn't that a set of George Soros' false teeth in Eric Bahlert's shirt pocket?
A pimp is a pimp and a prostitute is a prostitute — and Media Matters is a prostitute and Soros is their pimp who also sold out his own Jewish people to the Nazis. Socialists are not humanitarians seeking to "help" people.
If there was ever an evil genius who seeks world domination it's George Soros.
.
I will match Andrews amount I am in for 100.00
Seriously….
Patterico
I will match your offer I am in for 100.00
I love this site and the comments on it, period.
And I will donate $100.00 to the Tea Party in his honor. We need to buy signs that say, "Breitbart Rocks!"
Great Challenge.
"Leave me alone" … sounds like some prison punk.
These idiots run really fast when confronted by the truth!!!
"Leave me alone" … sounds like some prison punk.
Sounds like a schoolyard bully who has had his bluff called.
I get "Media Matters" e-mail updates just to see what those Democrat operatives are "up to". What a group of lunatics.
ACORN: helping blacks vote Democrat at 120% of registration. No voter fraud questions may be "axed" as they will be considered racist.
any media checking organization that minces words for either side should be held with their feet to the fire. simple as that.
Maybe because Media Matters (one of the George Soros family of front companies) lies?
Ultra, you are playing dirty!
But I'm lovin' it!
What kills me is the way the lefties have made this a major issue. Even at CPAC, it was a big issue for some of them.
Fact is, there is no "pimp costume" stereotype other than the one we've all been introduced to by Hollywood, but is it now a "racist" thing for the moonbats?
The stereotype was created by Hollywood – a dingbat stronghold – so what's the issue again?
Against the ropes and eyes glazed, he is ready for the knockout. Is there no way out.
i'm not a fan of them. but all they do is post transcripts and audio.
It's fun to watch Boehlert and his ilk spin on this meaningless non-issue. In fact, James' not dressing in the flamboyant manner we see on one or more of the videos' introductions, when actually visiting the serpent's lairs, increases his credibility! I have to admit, when I saw these videos, with James dressed like here. I did a facepalm. "He didn't really dress like that, did he?" I asked myself. I'm glad to see he didn't.
What makes a pimp, anyway? A silly hat, faux fur coat, walking stick, and elevator shoes with goldfish in the heels, or a stated desire to smuggle underage Asian girls into the country for the purpose of pr0stituting themselves?
God does, too.
*Eye bleach!*
I'm impressed that you can handle their crap delivered to your inbox.
Why do you have to be a degenerate and freak out over my obviously sarcastic post? Oh wait I think I may have answered my one question.
It makes sense doesn't it? Every time an ACORN/James O'Keefe story comes up on any of the "Big" sites palmtree shows up and starts spewing the latest Eric Boehlert talikng point/conspiracy theory.
"[E]levator shoes with goldfish in the heels…" Somewhere out there Disco Stu is smiling.
You mean all they do is post partial transcripts and cherry-picked audio that only fits their message without even paying lip service to reality?
Yup that's all they do.
A pimp couldn't make easier $. What say you, Boehlert?
I'll see your $100 and up you the following…
I'm offering Boehlert, Blumenthal, or Moulitsasl a $1000 iTunes gift card and dinner for 4 at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse if they publicly declare that they do, indeed think conservatives are stupid and that Democrats are better at deciding how I live my life, raise my children and provide for my family.
No spin, no bullshit, no games. Admit that you believe I can't be trusted to make the right choices in my life, and that you know what's best for me, and I will provide the aforementioned compensation.
I made several posts at MM, and I guess they don't like what I have to say because I keep getting the same auto-response that I have to make a certain number of post before my comments go through automatically.
Loons.
I've been asking Boehlert (or anyone else at Media Matters) on Twitter to describe what exactly O'Keefe should have worn to the ACORN offices. It seems they're experts in what a pimp should wear but have received no responses.
Perhaps you should borrow James O'Keefes outfit to wear and then remake the offer to Boehlert. Maybe that would do the trick.
I've sent Boehlert many tweets stating that it doesn't matter what O'Keefe was wearing. That he could've been wearing a clown outfit or a batman costume. ACORN'S criminal activity was CAUGHT ON TAPE. End of story. But he just ignores me. I'm sure it pisses him off to be ridiculed for clinging to such a weak "argument." So I keep tweeting him that message every week.
Syntax game is an acorn stoolie for sure

All the spin this "TrollPatrol" can muster, cannot change the obvious FACT that" the clothes" don't make the story, what the criminal community organizers actually SAID, is the real story here….
And will always be…
The name stand for personal freedom, liberty, family and faith.
James WAS dressed like the steriotypical pimp, he was dressed just like every other pimp in Washington DC.
Lol. If this isn't sarcasm, all I hear is the "cosmic" wind blowing between your ears.
No, he wasn't…
The others have those pins on the lapels that say, "Member, US Senate", or, "Member, US House of Representatives"….
I'll bump it up $25. The $25 either goes to EB, or O'Keefe's defense fund. Does O'Keefe have a defense fund?
Wait , I though I was supposed to be Charles Johnson? You guys are so paranoid.
And here we have the real motivation for driving Acorn out of business, wouldn't want too many blacks voting, not good for republicans you know. It is amazing that O'Keefe managed to do what Bush + Rove couldn't.
Who would you rather be palmtree? If I had to choose I'd say Eric Boehlert because there is $$$ involved
And secondly what does paranoia have to do with anything? I just think you're Eric Boehlert that's all. Not like I'm checking under my bed for some liberal boogeyman.
I think Mr Frey is missing the point of Mr Boehlert's articles, which is not that Mr O'Keefe never claimed to be a pimp while in some ACORN office somewhere, but whether or not Mr O'Keefe was dressed in tophat, fur coat, cane, etc., the clown pimp costume depicted in video on the streets /outside/ of ACORN offices, while conducting the actual interviews /inside/ the ACORN offices.
It has been implicitly and explicitly presented on various media outlets that Mr O'Keefe was in the clown pimp costume while meeting in the offices with ACORN employees, but the videos themselves provide some evidence that this is not the case.
Why is this important? Let's consider equivalent scenarios, but substituting traditional clown garb and a bank loan officer.
Case 1: Jim walks in wearing suit and tie. Meets bank loan officer Abe. Jim lies to Abe, successfully, and walks out with the cash, the goal of his subterfuge.
Case 2: Jim walk in with red rubber nose, greasepaint, and giant shoes. Meets bank loan officer Abe. Jim lies to Abe, successfully, and walks out with the cash, the goal of his subterfuge.
In which case does Abe look more like an idiot?
Case 3: What if Jim meets Abe in a suit, Case 1, but comes back later and takes pictures outside the bank dressed as a clown, then tells all his friends about the con job he pulled on Abe while showing the after-the-fact photograph, and by the lie of omission, leads his friends to think he was dressed like a clown the whole time?
If O'Keefe had carried out a Case 1 style operation and stopped right there, he would have had a story, and it would have pointed up some incompetency at ACORN.
But, by editing the clown pimp costume into the narrative O'Keefe and Breitbart are piling on, exaggerating incompetency into idiotic stupidity. But for these theatrics to work, they have to lie, or at the very least let others describe their story in terms they know to be untrue, to achieve this escalation.
In other words, Breitbart and O'Keefe decided the real story wasn't enough of a story, so they defrauded the public, however indirectly, to inflate the story, to damage and demonize ACORN, and to increase their own value.
The fun part will be when the hammer drops, and everyone who repeated the fraud will turn on a dime, pointing at O'Keefe and Breitbart and crying "They lied to us!"
ps – Does anyone really think Mr Frey, Patterico, lacks the wit to comprehend this, or has he already decided on which side of the story his butter is spread?
Snertly is a mental midget. Is there no limit to the perfidy of the Left?
Boehlert is a piker compared to some of the leftists. Brad Friedman is denying that they even posed as a pimp.
The funny thing is that I was at -7 earlier, so some folks thought I was serious. That cracks me up even more!
Snertly, you and Boehlert are desperately grasping for straws. If that's the argument that you and Boehlert are clinging to, then get used to disappointment, because it doesn't matter what clothes O'Keefe was wearing. ACORN'S criminal activity was CAUGHT ON VIDEOTAPE. Do you and Bohlert lack the wit to comprehend something so simple? ACORN was caught on tape. The only "fraud" going on is ACORN and the MSM sweeping the story under the rug. But keep trying with the pathetic attempts at "debunking" a solid story, it's very amusing to us all.
LOL, the problem here folks is this little Progressive/Liberal/Socialist is probably being paid a LOT more by ACORN, and/or SEIU and/or the DNC and/or Podesta’s group, and/or by some Obama slush fund somewhere.
Ahhh, look at the face on that guy.
Looks so sad and pathetic.
I think you need to take up a collection to send him more LOTION instead….
No, Jackass, we don't want dead people, Illegal aliens, and cartoon characters to vote
It's the principle of the matter – he will never admit he may somehow be associated with that awful, outdated word that implies he didn't deserve a trophy for participation.
In his own head, he is a liberal, ergo he is always right.
Best of luck, keep up the good work!
the term pimp was created by the left cost so they own that image. does anybody remeber the 70's. that was all over the left cost.
Getting honesty from the left is like trying to get water from a stone
I was wondering where that argument came from.
I like the palmtree theory.
"120% registration"? 80% voting once and 20% voting twice? Or 10% voting four times?
Ballstalum69, do not forget the lotion!
At least a case for his metro-sexual self (and fellow Lib “friends”)
The fraud was when O'Keefe and Breitbart took something that was bad and tried to make it egregiously, stupidly worse.
If O'Keefe had stuck to journalism, he would have had a better story, less sensational, but far more solid. When they decided to go for the circus sideshow presentation they had to bend the facts, at best, and this has undermined the impact of ACORN's part in the story as it became more about the antics of a reporter wannabe who apparently doesn't understand the difference between investigative journalism and an episode of Punk'd.
Absolutely,I'll chip in to the effort. $100. BUT, we need some sort of time limit. Let him know that I will give the money to a Southern Baptist Church instead if he doesn't take you up on the offer by a certain date. I'm sure that the thought of money going to a redneck Christian church instead of him will melt his brain, to everyone's benefit.
$100?! Puh-leeze! Boehlert prob'ly gets twice that for giving George Soros his nightly Cleveland Steamer. Shhhhit! Boehlert won't even flash his nipples at you for at least $50!
why do you guys freak out about media matters? the right wing has had the Media Research Council (Brent Bozell) for over a decade. they do exactly what media matters does and even have a chessy year end award show.
Divergent opinions need not apply, huh? I glance, look for glaring garbage and delet. Crazy clowns.
everyone knows the liberal boogyman is not under your bed, he's in your TV. Heyo!
Which one? There have been more than one, including at least one person parodying him.
Again, what does O'Keefe's attire have to do with the FACT that ACORN'S criminal activity was caught on tape SEVERAL times? The "fake pimp" angle is hot air. Your argument is a fantasy.
This might seem like a silly matter to quibble over, but Patterico is right to take a stand. If O'Keefe didn't wear a pimp get-up when the ACORN employees agreed to help him set up a prostitution business, then according to Liberal Logic the entire incident never happened.
Snertly, your suggestion that O’Keefe employed 60 Minutes-like tactics in combining A & B roll doesn’t go half far enough. Isn’t it much more likely that O’Keefe went in dressed as seen in the released video and employed Jedi mind control to compel ACORN employees to ignore his garb and conspire to break US law?
That seems far more likely than your grassy knoll scenario presuming a hitherto unknown second video. And no amount of such second video skirting absolves ACORN employees.
by my count we have 550 in cash and 1000 in music, a dinner that I would estimate to be 400 value
ITS YOUR MOVE MR BOEHLERT!!! What say you sir? and BTW consider yourself in check…..
Bravo Hollywood NeoCon….
OOO OOO NO! Tell him you'll donate it to Sarah Palin or some conservative politician he trashes all the time in his name. They'll just LOVE that, LOLOLOL!!!
I'd rather be George Soros , I could use the money.
Hmmmm … as far I know there's only one of me, although there have been a couple times during heated debates where people have written nasty porno type things using my name. Pretty low class if you ask me.
I'll take that $50 too.
The only real pimp here is Boehlert, or is he actually whoring himself for Media Matters?
Remember. georgey is just a rothschild's errand boy
You are an idiot, I don't care if he was wearing your pajimas will the little bunnys and the feet, it doesn't change the fact the ACORN went down…go back to media matters Obama boi…
There are none so blind as those who will not see.
Your conjecture of illegality will be lost in the noise created by the circus antics. Breitbart's and O'Keefe's decision to wrap the story in tomfoolery has completely overwhelmed such considerations. Yet you so staunchly support their actions that you cannot see how they undermine the conservative position.
Breitbart does not care about politics or truth. He loves the circus because he has his own tent and collects admission every time you enter, regardless of whether you come to agree or disagree. Any time attendance begins to flag, Drudge will give him a few extra links to pump up the action.
If you weren't so busy thumping your chest and dancing to the circus tune, you'd have noticed that I already agreed with you vis a vis ACORN's wrong doing in this matter.
Mr Frey, Patterico, is just one of many acts in Breitbart's circus. Mr Frey knows he's offered a sucker's bet, and Mr Boehlert knows it too, so what's the point? Simply put, to make you, and many, many more, /feel/ so good and strong supporting O'Keefe's "reportage" of ACORN that you'll be willing to complete dismiss the self-confessed illegal actions of O'Keefe and and his accomplices in the offices of a United States senator.
Whether or not you want to participate in this snow job is up to you.
How about this. Jim walks in with red rubber nose, greasepaint, and giant shoes. Meets bank loan officer Abe. Jim lies to Abe, and Abe promises to give Jim cash.
Later, Jim says Abe is an idiot for making the promise.
If Jim was dressed so ridiculously, Abe can say: "I didn't believe him! You can tell I was of course messing with him, because he was dressed so ridiculously."
Good thing O'Keefe wasn't dressed so ridiculously. He thus removed that defense from ACORN employees. It's much harder for them to claim that they were "pimping" him back.
So his non-outrageous manner of dress actually hurts ACORN.
Does anyone really think Snertly lacks the wit to comprehend this?
In a tight economy a boy has to do, what a boy has to do.
So you are claiming to be Syntax Game?
Or is the problem that…
o/~You're so vain./You probably think the post was about you./You're so vaaaaaaiiiiiin!o/~
*cough* Sorry, I'll stop inflicting my tone deafness upon you.
…and before you start dissembling, yes the thread started with you, but then kooz brought up Syntax Game and I mentioned his multiple forms. Sorry, but even threads about you can get diverted towards someone else.
@FrancescoPoli said: "An organization with close ties with Obama and the last election gets exposed as they eagerly help a pimp set up an underage prostitution ring, but the whole thing is a hoax because the pimp may or may not have dressed as a stereotypical movie pimp?"
FrancescoPoli, do you have any proof that any members of ACORN eagerly helped a pimp set up an underage prostitution ring?
Oh ok I misread it.
Well , neither do I , but I can assure you that the republican party does not want black people to vote.
Fun Fun
another democrat pimp
Nice try but they lied about him wearing that outfit. Spin it anyway you want, they were dishonest about that point , and most likely we will find out they have been dishonest about a lot more. That's usually how it works.
Agreed. Once ACORN tried to assist, in formation of an illegal immigrant child prostitution ring, at one location it was enough to tarnish them at the rest. 5 locations was devastating enough for them to close locations, destroy records, get defunded, and now change name.
Why change names if you are legit? Multiple names even?
James outfit has nothing to do with ACORN corruption and intent to defraud. Bitter much?
My "conjecture of illegality?" How is it conjecture? There's nothing to speculate. This isn't a he-said-she-said story based on someone's word, it's ALL CAUGHT ON TAPE! And it's not an isolated incident, SEVERAL ACORN offices were caught. That's it. End of story. The fact that you bring up a totally different incident that O'Keefe was involved in-that did not happen the way the MSM reported it and that has absolutely NOTHING to do with ACORN'S criminal activity caught on tape-only weakens your argument because it's reaching and grasping for more straws.
Proof. I agree without video, it never happened!!!!
What, there's video of the same thing happening in half a dozen different Acorn offices? And Everyone has seen them except altfreak and I have seen them?
Never Mind
Love the red eye robots.
Were any of the ACORN employees or volunteers who met with O'Keefe or Giles arrested? Have any of these people been charged with a crime or convicted?
No, they have not. Unlike Mr O'Keefe, himself. Therefore your statements accusing them of illegal activity are conjecture, at best. But then you're just repeating the Breitbart line, so they're not really your statements, are they?
I would strongly suggest that you do some research of your own, as you have motivated me to do. Particularly, read the transcripts (links to each conveniently provided here: http://biggovernment.com/acorn/). The transcripts provide a more complete picture of the various encounters and in some specifics contradict the voiceover content on the videos.
For a more independent review of the circumstances around each event I would recommend the report prepare by Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger, available at http://www.proskauer.com/files/uploads/report2.pd... You'll probably want to skip down to page 42 where he discusses each of the eight events.
Having watched each of the videos, and read their associated transcripts, I am certain that the O'Keefe as pimp is simply a fictional layer wrapped around the edited videos and mentioned only in the voiceover content. In the audio portions and transcripts, O'Keefe presents himself as a law student who plans to one day run for political office.
Further, they present Giles as a prostitute who is fleeing from a physically abusive pimp. With regard to the dozen 15 year old Guatemalan girls (each ACORN office visit has the same basic script elements), they generally give the impression that they are trying to prepare a safe haven away from the abusive pimp, an off stage character in their script.
From the Brooklyn, NY transcript: "Hannah (Eden[her character name]): He’s got all these 13, 14,15 year old girls from El Salvador and that’s what—I need to protect them like I know what its like and I have to protect them and like give them somewhere to live. (O'Keefe kept flipping between El Salvador and Guatemala, sometimes within a single interview.)
From the San Bernardino transcript: "Hannah (Eden): They're already they're already working. And I would It's I I'm hoping that I'll have a safer environment for them"
From the San Diego transcript: "Hannah: I want to get them before the pimp has time to bond with them." (She referring to the fictional abusive pimp, not O'Keefe.)
So while on a professional level it was dumb to do anything more than show O'Keefe and Giles the shortest route to the door, the transcripts show that the ACORN folks who believed O'Keefe's fiction were trying to help him rescue Giles from the violent and abuse pimp and generally work toward improving their lot in life. The video and transcripts make it apparent that these folks were in over their head, but trying, in their own way, to steer O'Keefe and Giles onto a better path. The latter half of the San Bernardino transcript particularly illustrates this as various pitfalls of prostitution as a lifestyle are gently presented.
So, by most standards, the ACORN folks should not have been trying to advise anyone in the scenario O'Keefe and Giles presented, but on the other hand, giving bad advice is seldom illegal.
Sidenotes: In San Diego a police report regarding suspected human trafficking was prepared but the investigation was dropped when they realized the interview had been a pretense.
In Philladelphia, Mr O'Keefe is being sued because it is illegal in PA to record someone without their knowledge.
In after the fact interviews employees in the Brooklyn office said they considered the incident a hoax because Ms. Giles was dressed like a stereotypical prostitute and, while claiming to fear her abusive pimp, proceeded to speak openly to strangers about her circumstances.
And an affidavit prepared by the San Bernardino, states that she was suspicious of the O'Keefe, Giles, and a third man that accompanied them, and their story; was scared for her safety; and responded to their comments with outrageous statements, including that she had killed her husband and had previously run an escort service. Seemingly because she thought this was what they wanted to hear.
I would have thought the correct answer to my postscript question above to have been B, but now you've made me doubt that.
